I don't follow nascar at all. I'll watch maybe one LAP a year...

But, isn't tony stewert the best driver?
The best driver litteraly just killed someone, in the middle of the race...

This might be the end of nascar...

@soldier, Huh? A sprint car is set up to change direction when the throttle is blipped on a banked corner. The same effect will occur when immediately lifting off the throttle. The kid ran towards him. He either had to slam on the brakes which will cause him to loose grip and continue to go forward or give it gas or let off the gas causing snap oversteer and change direction. Kid came out of nowhere.

Tony Stewart issued a statement:

“There aren’t words to describe the sadness I feel about the accident that took the life of Kevin Ward Jr. It’s a very emotional time for all involved, and it is the reason I’ve decided not to participate in today’s race at Watkins Glen. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and everyone affected by this tragedy.”

Intentional? No. Reckless? Yes. Knowing how Smoke is and what a competitor he is, he probably wanted to send a message to the kid. These cars aren't equipped with cameras or radios like the Cup cars. He had no spotter telling him the kid was irate and getting out of the car. Tony could have used better judgement however by taking the inside line when the yellow came out.

Im sorry but if some idiot started running across the freeway and got hit and killed, I blame the idiot running on the freeway, not the driver.

So a guy runs in the middle of a track and people blame the driver? What the [expletive] is wrong with people? He walked in the middle of a race track. That's suicide, not slaughter.

Tony Stewart has been cleared.

Their reasoning?  Cause Ward tested positive for marijuana.....

Seriously........wow....

Update Tony Stewart will have no charges pressed against him. Kevin Wards toxicology reports released and he was high as a kite. Enough levels of THC were in Wards system for him to actually be high while driving the race. And this explains his actions go running out on the track to confront a moving vehicle.

I don't think being high off weed is a direct causal for running on a track....
