Been keeping tabs on this game for a while now and it looks solid. The story seems fairly interesting especially for a game, being set in the LOTR universe surely helps. The gameplay reminds me of fast paced assassin creed game with more gore with also Batman style mixed in. Gonna give this game a shot once it comes out.

All I want for Christmas is a Laker girl :D

VIDEO LINK OF INTERVIEW

Toonzone had the opportunity to participate in a roundtable interview with the Lead Writer on Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Christian Cantamessa at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC2014). Topics discussed included:

  • Bringing Gollum into the story
  • Exploring an unspoiled Mordor, on the verge of collapse
  • The possibility of sequels
  • The narrative experience
  • The genesis of Talion and precautions taken when creating him
  • At what point Cantamessa joined Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor takes place between the events of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. Mordor is not yet a wasteland. Talion, a ranger of Gondor is killed while guarding the Black Gate of Mordor against the forces of Sauron.  He’s resurrected with wraith-like abilities and heads into Mordor to exact his revenge.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor was developed by Monolith Productions and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The game is set to be released on September 30, 2014. It will be available on the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. For more information on the game, visit the official Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor website.

Score: 9.3

I really want this game but I think I may hold out until early next year just because there is so much coming out.

Yeah, AC:Unity, Far Cry 4, GTA V, Fable Anniversary, this and more coming out this Autumn/Winter.

Sometimes it feels like there aren't any new great games for months, sometimes they all come out simultaneously.

This game looks like a legit good game with very little hype around it.    The only issue I see if anybody would want to hate on this game is that it copied a lot of the character movements of assassins creed.

I couldn't hold out. Got the game and I strongly recommend it. It's a lot of button mashing, at least in the beginning so if you don't like that you may not like this. Barely into the game though and they've added some more combos/moves as I've leveled up.

Does it "feel" like playing AC? The gameplay looks similar in some videos I saw on the Tube.

It feels exactly like AC and uses many of the same mechanics. I'm pretty sure they even use the same engine because there's a ton of qualities from AC that are in this.

I may not even get Unity now, though I picture Unity to be more visually stunning and more of a place to explore things. This is more of like Diablo meets an open world Lord of the Rings.

P.S. Who am I kidding, I'll probably end up getting Unity lol.

Just had a 2 hour session. Now that I'm getting the premise I love it even more. Definitely a lot different of a concept that any other game I've played. You IMMEDIATELY regret dying and even more so than any other game.

The second I die I just want to go and get revenge on the guy. The way enemies keep just piling up and doesn't seem to thin out gets a little frustrating but it's nice that you can run away if you have to.
