as much as I like Clarkson, it’s about time he gets some heat for his defense. If he wants to be a star guard, he really needs to step it up defensively. I mean, has he already earned veteran status in year 2?

He is ont of the worst NBA defenders and has not improved at all there. One serious area of concern for me.

Deployed for 18-20 minute a game, the kid can have a place in this league

But needs to learn the game

So doea Randle

These are not high basketball IQ rookies, they are just rookies

i will say though...I see some assets accumulating over the next couple years

He does have the ability to do that. his offensive feel is not that great and he needs a lot of work to improve his defense. He's one of the worst starting guards in the league in terms of defending. He's basically the next Monta Ellis he can put up stats and look efficient based on the box score but his defense and team offense holds the team back.

Kobe (on TWC) said the next step for J Clarkson is to become a great defender: "seems like he has the will to want to become a great player"

“I definitely want to be here in L.A. and be a part of this young group and grow,” Clarkson said. “Hopefully we can grow into something great. I love L.A.”

Oh is that all? He's also an above average passer. You'd think you wouldn't have to go ahead and explain why his assist numbers are down to Lakers fans who have been watching this [expletive] show of a team, but here we are.

His assists numbers ( 2.5 apg ) are not down just because of his team-mates bad shooting percentage, but also his lack to find the best positioned man under or near the basket. That said, Jordan has played some really solid games the last two seasons. Personally, I like him more than anybody of the current Lakers team. But, lets be realistic. He is still rookie. He is still work in progress. The guy has all of the tools to became a legit player in this league and I am sure, with a better coach he will improve his defense tremendously and become a cornerstone of our future team.

Jordan will be a restricted free agent with Early Bird rights. He can receive a maximum of $ 14 mil. a year. But his real value at the moment as a rookie is about $ 7.5 - $ 8.0 mil. If he wants to become a main part of the Lakers future and get several rings, he better accept an modest offer from Buss family, rather than going after bigger pay-checks somewhere else.

Clarkson has played so far 32.3 minutes per game and Randle - 27.4 minutes.

Julius deserves his money, but talking about Jordan as a $ 16 mil. per year player is absolutely wrong. That is my opinion.

Both of them are still just rookies and work in progress. Lou Williams has very similar stat numbers with J.Clarkson and makes, what? , $ 7.0 mil?

That is the real value of Clarkson at the moment ( $ 7 - $ 8 mil a year )

The three ball is looking good, but I am a little dissapointed about the defensive end. With the speed and athleticism he has, I was hoping to see him develop to a lockdown-defender.

I hope Clarkson dating Kendall Jenner is some April fools joke. That family brings nothing, but trouble.

His use seems to be off the bench primarily as a starter he isn't set on what he should be doing i.e.; not a pg more a scorer didn't take fit well with Dlo old news, had to hit pick n pop imo

His use this season will depend on defensive prowess esp if off the bench jmtc
