Sad to hear.  Austin's right eye had a retinal detachment back when he was in junior high or high school, and since I heard that story of his, I was a supporter (I was completely blind for two months, couldn't see light or shadows out of either eye, because of retinal detachments, and I currently can't see out of my left).  I know how tough it was for me to get back into the game of basketball, being able to shoot the ball with one eye, being able to work around screens to my left, and having that fear of being hit in my other eye...so I can only imagine how painful this insurmountable hurdle is.

Great gesture by the NBA.

Adam Silver with an A+ in my book, so far...

That was a really great moment. Tragic story though, seems the guy can't catch a break.

This...was...beautiful...

"Bryant had come to rage against the idea that Howard's clownish disposition could overtake the locker room, the Lakers' culture, and had warned Howard that he would never, ever let it happen."
