The San Antonio Spurs owe their historic longevity to a great number of factors, but perhaps none loom as large as the continued greatness of stars Tim DuncanManu Ginobili and Tony Parker. On Monday night, that trio hit a milestone that helps prove just how amazing they've been in the context of NBA history.

With the Spurs' 122-105 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals, the trio of Duncan, Ginobili and Parker achieved their 110th playoff win together. That moves them into a tie with Showtime-era Los Angeles Lakers teammates Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Michael Cooper for the all-time NBA record for playoff wins by a group of three.

Amazing accomplishment in this day and age. Mostly because of this that the article points out:

it's pretty much unheard of for any three teammates to play together in 12 consecutive seasons.

VERY impressive, but why the hell do people think to look up these stats in the first place, lol?

Like...is there a computer program that looks for this kind of stuff and alerts people when its nearing? Always wondered about that.

Yea it is getting to the point similar to MLB, soon it will become incredibly random factoids such as which player got 30 points in 35 minutes while being a specific height and so on.

Yeah. I happen to think this is a cool one....shows the longevity of this trio in particular. I'm just not sure how someone knew to look out for this is all. Would never have crossed my mind.

I wonder if for duo's in the regular season it is Stockton and Malone, but in the postseason it is a pair like MJ and Pippen, or Magic and Kareem.

I think the whole point of this thread is this trio works so well together and you build around it.

Its worked out very well for the Spurs and their fans in this era.

If i lived and grew up in SA, id be a fan of the team. And for sure Pops.

As a Laker fan though...i kinda hate them.

Praying for  1. Some Cohesion (Ill fitting parts with young bucks, new guys, and those playing for next contracts may muck things up all season) 2. Better Coaching, No More Tanking (Last season was more of the latter but not sure how much of the former we can count on. Walton with something to prove this season as much as any Laker player) 3. Rookie Watch (Hoping Lonzo outshines his daddy (ROTY??), and Kuzma finds minutes and makes a push for all rook 2nd team)

READY FOR SEASON!!!

The Spurs deserve credit here, being able to stay a prominent presence throughout the years with the same core isn't easy.

How is it a pointless stat?

If it was more in the Lakers favor most of you guys would fawn all over it. Too much bias, not enough objectivity. It's a respectable accomplishment.

Spurs joined the NBA in 1976.
Lakers in 1947.

Spurs avg: 1 chip every 9 years
Lakers avg: 1 chip every 5 years

If SAS win this year: 1 chip every 7.5 years.

Edge LAL but game recognize game

cool story ….by that logic that makes the celtics look far less impressive….

thats all well and great SAS was the only rival to the shaq kobe lakers
however take a  list the laker hall of famers from 1976 onwards and SAS hall of famers and you see a noticeable gap from a franchise perspective
