What the heck happened here earlier? It seemed to last around 2-3 hours. Any explanation or particular reason? Is it part of the new update that's said to be coming along?

The Laker tank is trying to take down the site.

^ So then just for further clarification, this basically means it was completely random and can happen at any time & moment? No way of knowing or preventing it whatsoever?
I can't answer that. Like I said, I didn't get a definite answer as to why it happened. We have some theories as to what happened but it's something for the staff to know, not the general public.
If it were a major incident, we would inform everyone, but as of now, the site simply went down.

If it's not an ongoing issue (like what happens at 1 AM for everyone on the Pacific), then we don't look into it and assume it's typical downtime for a server issue (ex. memory going out).
Now, if the site was down for a good 6-7 hours, or it happened for 2-3 consecutive days without reasoning behind it, then that's a different story.
The downtime that occurs early, early morning, every morning...that's because of a backup, and given the amount of data we have, it takes quite some time (maybe shouldn't take as long as it does, but I digress).
Had I logged in and caught it, I would have opened up a support ticket, but honestly, I'd probably still be waiting for a response.
