Elgin Baylors Laker career beats out Shaq. That change would be my list

Praying for  1. Some Cohesion (Ill fitting parts with young bucks, new guys, and those playing for next contracts may muck things up all season) 2. Better Coaching, No More Tanking (Last season was more of the latter but not sure how much of the former we can count on. Walton with something to prove this season as much as any Laker player) 3. Rookie Watch (Hoping Lonzo outshines his daddy (ROTY??), and Kuzma finds minutes and makes a push for all rook 2nd team)

READY FOR SEASON!!!

Shaq brought the Lakers 3 titles....Baylor didn't. Thats why I put Shaq over Baylor.

True. Thats hard to argue against. And even i'm not old enough to have seen Baylor in his good years. But everything ive read and seen, Baylor was a beast who (along w west..only 1 title) always lost to Boston.

In fact a case could be made West and Baylor were the best duo ever..stats wise

Kareem - The best player in Lakers history in its 14 year career with the team. Carried the franchise throught the bad of the 70s and the good of the 80s winning many personal accolades that cant be match by noone else.

Magic - The player that made Showtime what it was and the one player that finally made Los Angeles a Lakers city with fans from every available demographic following the team.

Kobe - The player with the longest career with the franchise. He too played with the team throught the good and the bad and he is the 2nd best SG in the history of the game. Playing great for that long is something that shares with Kareem.

Shaq - His years with the Lakers are one of the most impressive prime years any player had in this league. And if he worked little harder this should won him more Regular Season MVP's.

Baylor - Please don't give me that "titles" thing. We are talking about players right now and without Baylors leadership the Lakers would be the Celtics. They would have their 17 titles and would be out of the playoffs for about 25% of their history. Instead Lakers were constantly competing in the West and they reached the Finals many times losing normally to better or more cohesive teams like the 60s Celtics and early 70s Knicks. Also Baylor carried the Lakers to the 1959 Finals. If you don't go to the Finals you can't lose at the Finals. This is Celtics logic. Don't blame Baylor for losing to the Finals. West was way weaker for many years but still Baylor and West had the team in the Finals and they competed.

If as a fan you think the Lakers are all about winning, then being in the playoffs and Finals when the other option was not being in the playoffs then Baylor and West were all about winning. They just didn't have the team to compete especially with teams with great big men like Russell and Chamberlain.
