Yep, but Detroit will most likely match

Should we try to get Greg Monroe?

Not enough to make Detroit back away.

I think offering Monroe the max - which would start at around 13-14 is a lot smarter than offering Melo the max - which starts at 24. But i dont think there is any chance that the Pistons dont match.

They can go with a Drummond-Monroe-Smith lineup for a couple of years until Drummond's rookie deal is up, at which time Jennings will be off the books. Next year both Villanueva and Stuckey comes off the books so even if they give Monroe the max they wont be taxpayers and even have a bit of caproom to sign a wing.

That being said, this team probably isn't ready to contend yet and depending on how well they play this season they may wish to go in another direction. I say we offer him the max.

I wonder if Monroe, Smith, and Drummond are a good fit together. That's arguably two centers and a power forward playing together. They are stuck with Smith. Drummond is the guy for the future. Maybe they would let Monroe walk at 13-14 per? I don't know. I would like for LA to pick him up though.
