just remembered i've had this question for awhile

do any of you have an external hardrive for the PS4 and how is that working out for you?

500 is not enough...partially because i don't like to delete old games that i loved for whatever reason, going to start looking into this seriously.

I just replace it with a 1TB internal hard drive; I don't know about the external ones though.

I like to dip my feet in toilet water & smell them.

how much did that run you, and was that something that was easy to do?  Like, does the playstation make it easy for you to replace the drive, or did you have to get some weird tools and look it up on youtube or something?

Yeah, Sony made it really simple to do. All you need is a small screw driver and a USB to download the current PS software into the new HDD.

I used an SSD drive for faster loading.

Install was a success!  and I was able to put the 500GB original PS4 HDD in the case that my new 2TB drive came in.  So I also got an external portable HDD out of it too!

never have to delete a game hopefully...at least not for awhile.

the pro was the reason i was hesistant to do this, because i kind of wanted one...but i really can't rationalize buy another PS4 when i have a PS4...and it's not worth the money i'd lose selling this one to to get it.  so i just went with extra space so i can stop deleting games...

i'm moving to a new place soon, and i'll be spending a lot of money making the place home

Same.

I was tempted to get trade in for the Pro, but playing on my friend's Pro, there isn't much difference I saw. I was hoping for better frame rate instead of 4k/HDR gaming.

I'll be better keeping the original PS4; like the fat PS3.

I had the original as well but there was a sale on black friday for a pro and 55"4k tv for 600. Couldn't pass it up. I wanted to see the new gaming. I also canceled my cable recently and switched to Vue as well as 4k netflix so it was a no brainer for me considering I'd be using it all.  They're essentially the same but the extra features on the pro are highly enjoyable now.

Actually justified part of it because I'm selling my current house and building a new one so I'll be using some of the profit to get a better 4k tv to utilize the full HDR features.

I still use my fat ps3 for ps vue viewing..but boy is that thing slow. The differences between the pro and original are subtle but I've come to enjoy them .

Anything regarding social networking on the PS3 is essentially a huge beta. PlaystationStore, PS+, and the failed PS Home are all buggy and slow; but it is free; which was one of the factors that made me buy one lol.

I mainly use the fat PS3 as a streaming box for Netflix/Hulu/etc. and maybe some games that wouldn't make the jump to the PS4.

There's already a difference by switching out the standard PS4 HDD for an SSD; and frankly that's fine with me. I'll start trying to get a Pro some time later on again, but until I see a fps upgrade on the Pro, I'll stick to saving up for the Switch.
