I must admit, everyone is thinking Dwight this, and Dwight that. Sometimes you need to focus on what you have rather than what you want so I think this thread is good for that.

Our current roster for the Lakers 2013 championship season goes a little something like this;

1st Rotation:

Steve Nash
Kobe Bryant
Andrew Bynum
Pau Gasol
Ron Artest

2nd Rotation

Blake
Goudelock
Gasol
Jordan Hill
Jamison/Ebanks

Backups:

3rd rotation/reserves/DNPs

Morris
Murphy
Robert Sacre

If you are seeing what I'm seeing this Roster is looking pretty deep as it is. With the exception of Murphy IMO, there are three pretty solid reserves that can contribute. I think Ebanks is really a rising player as well, and he'll be competing for that 2nd rotation, and might be able to give Ron Artest and Jamison much needed rest if he shows good play. I would like to see Brown develop him so that he can be a starter, but we'll see.

All I can say is there is a lot to be excited about without Dwight Howard in the mix.

This team is already a contender. I think retaining our FAs in Darius Morris and Ebanks is crucial and possibly more important than the acquisition of Dwight. Of course it doesn't hurt trying to go for Dwight first. Morris I think, needs to be retained more so because Nash isn't going to play 40 a game, so this team will need two solid, seasoned backup PGs. I wouldn't say Darius is seasoned, but he certainly has gotten his cherry popped to the point that he can be a pretty dependable PG, as long as he knows his role.

I'd like to see Nash play 25 minutes at most against the weaker teams, to save mileage before the post season. I feel with Nash there will be a lot more early blow outs this coming season, so that won't be a problem, and that'll give a chance for Goudelock and Ebanks to get more game experience.

bviously there might be some major changes. Dwight is a possibility but let's say that's doesn't happen for now. If it does then I'll change the thread.

Bynum will flourish with Nash on the offensive end. It's Bynum's defense that I'm worried about it.

Troy Murphy is not on the team. Mcrobets Is though...

Backup pg sg and sf are issues

Wish we could add a capable swingman

Webster , Sasha, Delfino, T Will, Meeks

An upgrade over Blake would be nice but I don't see that happening...

Bynums in a contract year too so he should lose the lazy side to get paid. Nash is the key on offense but we have a lack of stoppers. I was not impressed withg summer league play.

Give it a solid b. Not good enough to beat OKC of MIA if their on their game. Need a back up pg very badly.

All I want for Christmas is a Laker girl :D

If we sign Barbosa we basically have a bench with Barbosa and Antawn Jamison coming off the bench and that's deadly.

Our bench if we get Barbosa which looks like it MAY happen *crosses fingers*

We get a bench like this

Blake/Morris
Barbosa/Goudelock
Ebanks/Eyenga/Jamison
Jamison/Hill/McRoberts
Hill/McRoberts/Sacre

That's not a bad lineup at all to be honest off the bench.

Our bench is basically 2/3 players deep at each position to be honest. So that's not bad at all.

Not to mention adding Barbosa to our bench 2 spot who is a 40% three point shooter, pretty much rivals what Miami did signing Ray Allen but Barbosa at this point in both their careers could take Allen off the dribble with his speed and athleticism and Barbosa SHOULD be able to stay with Ray on defense.

ESPECIALLY if we are running the Princeton offense.

"Bryant had come to rage against the idea that Howard's clownish disposition could overtake the locker room, the Lakers' culture, and had warned Howard that he would never, ever let it happen."
