His voice just irks me. It's way too get in your face for his subject matter. I kind of like more smooth calm hip hop with occasional intensity.

Camp has been #2 behind Drake's Take Care since it was released. I wonder how many copies it will sell. I thought it would be a small indie store type release, but Best Buy has them at seemingly ever store. I bought it yesterday, but it looked like I was the first one to do so at Best Buy.

Hopefully he pulls in a hundred thousand or so. That would just be crazy for him.

Not as aggressive as canibus but his high pitch voice makes it more noticeable

Thats exactly why I cant listen to him Ive heard nothing but good things about the guy so Ive tried to force myself to like him but that voice(which is a huge part of a rappers appeal imo) is terrible.

I think his voice is okay in some tracks, but others where he's all raspy reminds me too much of Wayne, and I can't stand it.

1.6? Wow. They really hate him. I thought the album was alright, not AOTY status, but a good listen.

"Glover's exaggerated, cartoonish flow and overblown pop-rap production"

not gonna lie i heard the same thing when i listened to it. it was like listening to LASERs with an annoying voice added to it

lol you guys hate the review i found it pretty hilarious and some of it spot on.

"At the very least, Camp can serve as hashtag rap's tombstone, and I'll just present some choice quotes without comment so you can decide for yourself: "I made the beat and murdered it, Casey Anthony," "You can kiss my ass, Human Centipede," "I got a girl on my arm, dude show respect/ Something crazy and Asian, Virginia Tech."

2 things

i agree

and is that a legitimate way to shorten pitchfork lol

but yes the album sucked IMO. like i said it was a bad as LASERs but with an annoying voice added. i couldn't put my finger on my issue with his voice and pitchfork nailed it. exaggerated and cartoonish. completely true

The inferiority complex thing I agreed wit the most.

Productionw as awesome, musically the album was good. Just the content of some othe lyrics irked me.

it just came off a bit whiney to me. guy is rich and is complaining about things that don't exist. maybe in 2000 but kanye, drake, kid cudi, lupe fiasco all guys who have sold a ton of records without being hood or crazy.

production wasn't awful just got a bit tired after a while, but that voice. he needs to tone it down big time

Childish Gambino just straight up sucks to me he has no redeeming qualities as a rapper and that review was accurate.

Agreed with the first paragraph but how was the production tired? Have you ever listened to a J Cole beat?

You guys are haters if you think this album honestly deserves a 1.6/10 just because you're not a fan of his voice/style or because he has a few bad lines.

P4K's review wasn't complete BS. They rose a couple of valid points about Gambino's lyrics being full of unfounded racial insecurities. But that doesn't take away from the album to the point that it's a 1.6. Just think about how low a freakin' 1.6/10 is. That seems like something a Soulja Boy album should be getting. Do you really think Gambino is as bad as Soulja Boy?
