can't really get this guy. he's ok. some songs he's good, some songs he over does it. i have to listen to more. i was able to get over drake being degrassi, this is easier for me because gambino is very talented as a writer and i respect talent but i have to listen to more of his stuff before i really make a judgment

Listened to the snippets last night. Wish I hadn't and would have waited for the album.

He's performing Camp in it's entirety on Halloween night in NYC.

Solid album, I think he dissed Kid Cudi on Backpackers. Probably my favorite song on the album too. Now onto Take Care later today. :81:

Nope. Cudi has a song where he states a similar line, "Shut your mouth before I f--- it." Childish also says a version of this on his song. Cudi was heavily looked at as a backpack type rapper when he first started getting press and is used as a reference for Childish to say, look we're both rapping about very similar subjects, yet you want to praise Cudi's music and talk down on mine?

Not a diss, probably a huge compliment.

ok heres my problem with this album. on some songs i think gambino overdoes it a little. too intense with his delivery. its part of why i like kendrick lamar so much. he's very calm and cool with his delivery.

lyrically he is good, the album is good, but the screaming in the mic thing always just makes a song sound like a mixtape track

Good album, but I'm a little disappointed. I guess I just hyped it up too much for myself.

It starts off amazing, but then some of the later tracks aren't as good. I guess my main complaint is that I wish that he'd vary his subject matter. Pretty much every song seems to be about him talking about his haters. We get it Donald, everyone hates you because you're not black enough. I feel like on his earlier albums, he was just messing around and having fun. I loved the humor in his punchlines and his references to TV, indie music, and general nerd stuff. It seemed like he kinda backed away from that style on Camp.

This post probably seems a lot more critical of the album than I actually am lol. So let me clarify, from a musical standpoint, this is probably his best work. Most of the beats are sick and he definitely polished his flow/line delivery. My only complaint is that he seems to be talking about the same thing on every song.

^ I just had a similar thought while listening to it a while ago. So much of the first few albums were about success and love and females and just fun. This album is so much geared towards 'haters' which is pretty damn hypocritcal of CG. He said this a few months back (maybe as much as a year or so)....

This is not about “haters”. I [expletive]ing hate that term. Everyone’s a hater. I’m a hater. I hate [expletive] sometimes. It’s good to hate [expletive]. Informed opinions are dope.
