LeBron: D'Antoni Is An "Offensive Mastermind"

Posted Image

LeBron James said on Tuesday night that he sees Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni as an "offensive mastermind".

James played under D'Antoni with Team USA at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

"We got really close," James revealed. "Coach D'Antoni gave me a lot of freedom, he allowed me to play every position I wanted to play; I was the leader of that team, but I was also like the overseer of some offensive plays.

"He gave me a lot of freedom, it was great to be out there. I watched that system all those years in Phoenix; how they got so many shots and easy baskets. To be a part of that chemistry, be part of the offensive mastermind that Coach D'Antoni is, that was great."

New York famously cleared out cap space at the end of last week in hopes of signing James in the summer of 2010.

"It would be unfair to bring that kind of distraction to our team," James said when asked if he would like to play for the Knicks. "I am flattered that teams want me to be a part of their team but right now I'm with the Cavs."

The hell? If it's a distraction, don't make that comment in the first place.

Offensive mastermind?

Run and shoot doesn't qualify him as that.

LeBron is an idiot for making all these comments. It's pretty messed up how he's already talking about leaving Cleveland despite being under contract under 2010. At least be subtle about it...

according to Jalen Rose, his sources tell him that it will happen. he says Bron along with Chris Bosh will definitely be in the Knicks' uniform. not sure how reliable he is but that's what he said

This guy is an idiot.

"I was the leader of that team, but I was also like the overseer of some offensive plays."

Yea, like the latter half of the 4th quarter vs. Spain, right? Where were you then, oh great leader? That's right... Taking a backseat to the face of Team USA, Kobe Bryant.

LeBron Says Free Agency Talk Distraction For Knicks, Not Cavs

Posted Image

Cleveland guard LeBron James says all the talk about him possibly joining New York when he can become a free agent in 2010 is affecting the Knicks more than the Cavaliers.

"It's a distraction for the Knicks," he said. "It's not a distraction for us -- we're good."

"Players on their team, they don't want to hear about LeBron James or Chris Bosh coming to their team," he said Wednesday night before playing the Knicks. "It's a year and a half away, they got better things to do. For us, we're all right. It's not a problem for us."

The Knicks already have the whole Marbury thing going on anyway. Must be annoying for them.

I seriously doubt it's distracting the Knicks. They know they are scrubbing it for the next 2 years. I doubt the front office really cares what happens before 2010. Cavs however have to worry about their superstar leaving. I'm sure they are very concerned about the possibility.

All I gotta say is, good ol Marbury is a big enough issue the Knicks gotta deal with right now before 2010. As for the Cavaliers, I would somehow be affected by the possibility of LJ leaving the team soon. But then again you gotta focus on the present right now and do what you gotta do, instead of worrying so much about what could happen in a year or two.

LeBron James has told the Cleveland Plain Dealer that he is pleased with the success of the Cavaliers and is considering signing a contract extension this summer.

"You play out this season of course; I will consider it," James said Saturday. "The direction we are headed is everything I expected and more."

Many teams have reportedly begun clearing cap space for the summer of 2010, in hopes that James would be available on the free agent market.

"I definitely want to keep an open mind, I will look at everything," James told the Plain Dealer. "[The extension] is a good point. I think me and my group have pretty much made good decisions so far and we'll look at the options and go from there."

It would make the 2010 FA race more boring if LBJ decides to resign. I'd like to see him in NY in D'Antoni's offense, that would be more entertaining.
