Yeah this was what I wanted in a long shot.

I asked for this from IPB in the past.

RD, is there an official mod from IPB on this? Or was that programmed by the creators of that board itself?

I really don't like this thing.

Not only does it prevent people from hanging out and going into threads they might not normally go, it also freaks out often and prevents you from clicking into a thread at all.

Annoying in my opinion.

Not at all. It's really a useful feature. To gain insight into the thread before really going in. You go in means you wanna read more, and maybe even contribute.

Some of the titles are so explicit that I really dun wanna go in.

Fido you didn't go to other forum boards that natively has mouseover preview functions? IPB is the first board that doesn't have em.

Nope I haven't been on any board that uses them.

Half of the fun of looking through threads is clicking in and maybe finding something interesting in there that you would rule out with a preview feature.

The preview feature wun be the full thread, usually 2 lines or something. In this case, it looks like 5 lines.

It's probably that your habit conflicts with the purpose of the feature though. You can still click and it and move your cursor away from the title in a split second to stop that from appearing though.

If it's interesting then yeah. If it's dumb... :shifty:

We should turn off the feature... until we can figure out how to remove pictures from the preview.

4-5 Max lines in the preview.

No pictures, no emoticons, no quotes, no links, no videos.

Good idea, so that I'll know which threads not to click on.

But that's easy, you already know. All of mine.

Totally agree. Also have the option for a member to disable the feature if they see fit (I would).

Please turn this off. :( It's really bad when viewing topics with images in them. (See Gametime Discussion threads). It's very annoying IMO. What Nissan showed was very nice, but this seems alot different then what Nissan showed. Hopefully you can turn it off for now, and if you fine something better down the road enable that one instead of what's up right now.

I thought my browser was broke at first when I was noticing this annoying feature. If you could possibly have it where it's default off, and for users looking for something like this to turn it on, I think that would be much better. This if anything would scare people away IMO, as it's annoying everytime you want to scroll over a topic you get this big box.

It's not so bad viewing a topic the normal way, and if you don't want to leave the spot where your at in your browser, but are interested in a topic, just right click the topic title and click "Open Link in New Tab", so your not losing your original spot.

Didn't even notice it has started. I only browse the forum from View New Posts. And I agree it gets annoying because it only appears if mouseover and once ur mouse moves out of the way, the thing either flickers or disappear in an instance.

Anyway, a tip. Thread Preview shouldn't be working in this manner. Reference vBulletin. Mouse over the thread title or thread title area and a comment box will display the first couple of lines.

Example: http://forums.hardwa...display.php?f=2

I'm sure most of you guys will prefer vB's way of thread preview.

There shouldn't be a way to turn this form of thread preview off in IPB because it's most likely a hack and NOT a feature of the forum originally. You guys need to think before asking for it to be able to turn off.

Also, give RD a break. He may still be experimenting with the code.

It's off.

If I find another modification, I'll install it on the default skin first.

Sorry guys. It's supposed to limit the size and everything...not sure why it's not, probably made for an earlier version of IPB.

Maybe someone will release a mod for IPB3.

I can probably create a custom one for you, if someone doesn't make one already, once IPB3 is out.

When's IPB3 coming out? Been harping on it ever since the games inclusion.
