TLN’s Postgame Report: Lakers vs. Suns

Suns Lakers BasketballThe Lakers expanded their Western Conference lead Sunday night as they extended their winning streak and find themselves at 16-3 in the young NBA season.

The Lakers played great basketball Sunday night. They hustled for loose balls, hit the open jumpers, and moved the ball well all game long.

One key tonight was shooting from behind the arc. The Lakers hit 10 of 21 three pointers and really left some daggers in the Suns defense. Farmar, Artest, Kobe, Brown, and Fisher all contributed from downtown. Six Lakers hit double figures, including two off the bench.

The Suns really were never in this game after the first quarter ended. It was all Lakers as they pounded the ball in the paint, and nailed the outside jumpers. The Lakers also took care of the ball with only 11 turnovers. Most importantly, they played hard and forced some great turnovers leading to easy Laker buckets.

Now, the bests of the day…

Top 3 Laker Performers -

1) Kobe had a very efficient game. He shot 9 of 16 for 27 points, 7 boards, 3 assists and only a single turnover.

2) Artest’s five steals tonight were huge! He also had 15 points and 5 assists.

3) Farmar played great off the bench with 11 points and 4 rebounds.

Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): Lamar continues to struggle off the bench tonight. Not a field goal made and three turnovers.

Play of the Night: Kobe’s oop to Bynum.
