TLN’s Postgame Report: Lakers vs. Mavericks

The Lakers easily had their best performance of the season tonight as they routed the Mavericks at home. This one was a blowout from the beginning.

It was the cleanest Laker effort on both ends of the court as not only did every shot seemingly go in, but they also seemed like they all hit nothing but net.

The Lakers shot over 63% from the field which is unheard of in the NBA for an entire 48 minutes, especially considering they weren’t easy shots with 24 of them being threes on their way to a season high 131 points.

Normally when you score 131 points, your fans don’t get tacos, but the Lakers defense tonight was great as they held on for a 35 point victory. 33 assists to only 12 turnovers for the Lake show.

The only downside tonight was Gasol’s early injury, but the Lakers bench really came to play tonight.

Now, the bests of the day…

Top 3 Laker Performers -

1) Farmar had a career high with 24 points tonight while making some spectacular plays.

2) Lamar had 15, 15, and 6 tonight in one of his better games of the season. 15 boards from your starting SF isn’t bad!

3) Bynum shot 8 of 8 on his way to 19 points. Offensively he was aggressive which was needed as Gasol went down early.

Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): Nobody… even Sasha did good tonight!

Play of the Night: Mbenga’s block on Marion in the first half.

What to Look for Next Game: The Rockets come to back to Los Angeles Tuesday night with Trevor Ariza.

Go Lakers!

Its amazing what can happen when the bench shows up. Lets hope that this is their wakeup call, they watch the tape and say “Hey look at the impact we have on the game”

  • drive-for-16th

if the bench plays like this then we can put all those hyped up teams like the celdicks and cavs to sleep.

  • drive-for-16th

now lets show trevor ariza what happens when you leave L.A. on tuesday.

    • txbustanut

I doubt Ariza ever wanted to leave the Lakers. Ultimately they could get either Artest for Ariza for the same price and they went with Artest.

  • thanhttrinh

everybody socred from the bench tonight, lets waiting for Luke comeback, ron and pau get back sooner and the bench keep playing like this, we would be dominate every single game, and the starters will play less minutes to keep them fresh till the playoffs

  • thanhttrinh

this game was the REAL Lakers, i mean the Real Defending champs would play the way like this, deserve to be the champs ! im happy now !

  • Chillax

How in the world is Dirk Nowitzki up front in all-star voting..he almost airballed a ton of his shots in the paint and had no passion.

  • the ape

this game makes me wonder if bynum would be better coming off the bench. he dips when pau is on the floor so maybe it’s better if he’s off the bench where he can be “his own man.”

and lamar, lesson should be learned. if you’re aggressive, good things happen to the team. same thing with farmar, good decisions lead to good things.

    • The Mamba24

I think it’s a good idea Bynum coming off the bench coz he doesn’t play very well with Pau in the lineup.

  • 242LakerFan

I feel so good this morning being a Laker fan! When we play a complete game like this, no one can hang with us!
Now, in deference to reality, they had one big on the floor and he plays from 15-18ft out, 25ft after he finishes fading away on every shot. But it was great to see the bench mob be, well, the bench mob again.
I hate to tell the haters, but looking over the last several games, it looks like Sasha is getting his stroke back.
I think Bynum off the bench might be the best idea. Pau and LO play better together and Drew is more effective when he doesn’t have to share the post.
Revenge game tomorrow. If we play this well, it should be nasty to watch!

Doesnt it feel good to be a Laker fan EVERY morning?

      • 242LakerFan

        LOL
I was speaking comparatively, of course!
Thank you for pointing out my lapse of linguistic clarity, Marwan (NOT the Tard).

        • http://LakersNation Marwan..

Sorry, I just had to say that.
By the way, the reason that “tard” is using my name because everytime he’d say something about Lakers/ Kobe, I’d defend them and so he hates me for that.

go lakers for your drem 16 champs!congratulations.d.boss

Pau Gasol is listed as questionable for the game against Rockets on January 5. He is also listed as day-to-day.

  • 242LakerFan

Ron-Ron, however, has been cleared to go full contact, though he likely wouldn’t play vs. Houston. Let’s hope we get them both back soon. I love seeing the team be this dominant again.

    • http://LakersNation Marwan..

I do too but this is just one game. Lets see if the bench can do what they did again (hopefully they can). If they can, I will book a flight to LA and buy season tickets.

Marwan the Cynic? You gotta BELIEVE, brother!
