TLN’s Postgame Report: Lakers vs. Clippers

90040594AB015_CLIPS_LAKRSThe Lakers opened up the new season much like they finished the end of last year, with a W. Each present Laker got their championship ring and everyone was full of smiles pregame.

Artest’s debut in Los Angeles was everything a Laker fan could want — he fit in well and did all the little things the Lakers need.

Four Lakers had double figures tonight as the Lakers beat the crosstown opponents 99 to 92. The Lakers only shot 41% from the field, but were much more aggresive as they got to the line and made 14 more shots from the stripe.

The Lakers did look sloppy offensively though with 16 turnovers and only 17 assists. It’s still early in the season so there is not much to worry about yet. One positive was the Lakers defense, contesting many shots all night (except when Camby was shooting) and creating 13 steals tonight.

Now, the bests of the day…

Top 3 Laker Performers -

1) Bynum had a beastly performance with 26 points and 13 boards tonight. He was active all night and was the difference in the game tonight. He did however, give up 16 boards to Kaman.

2) Lamar hit some big shots tonight. 16 points, 13 boards, 5 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. He looked pretty good if you take away the first few minutes of the game with those terrible passes.

3) Kobe had 33 points, 8 boards, and 4 steals… the only thing I didn’t like about his game tonight was the poor shot selection.

Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): D.J. Mbenga took some TERRIBLE shots. What was he thinking?

Play of the Night: Kobe had 2 amazing layups, one in each half — take your pick.

What to Look for Next Game: A high scoring game… Dallas comes to Staples Friday night and both teams usually run up the score.

I was so happy when I saw Kobe get his ring I felt so happy for him nd for the team. But good win nd i can’t wait for the Lakers to play a,better team to see how gud nd tough we really. Are

  • lakerman1

LA & Boston in the finals’ those will be the two teams to Topple.

  • xtro

we are back guys! bling bling was the thing last night.

  • TOUCHING_MYSELF

So glad to see the season finally start! I’ve been waitin for this day since the parade! It was a good start to what I’m sure to be a great season for the Lakers. There’s some kinks to be worked out as we can see, but the defensive and rebounding effort on a whole was great!

Kobe does what Kobe does man… score and fill the highlight reels! LO was a rebounding mad man and nice to see his stroke coming back! Artest, love the dude! He was after everything man! Looking forward to seeing more of that as the season progresses! Bynum was a monster down low! Great post moves!
If everybody else do their part, then we’re definitely repeating fellas!

    GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Short Dog

Good game. Everyone contributed. 82-0 Laker Nation putting it down. Kobe MVP all day.

  • PP

Big deal. The Lakers beat the Clippers. My Celts went into Cleveland and got a big win. Celts will destroy the Lakers in January. GO GREEN. BOSTON>LA

    • PTG23

MAN, GET THAT “CELTIC GREEN” BULLSHIT OUTTA HERE. BOSTON AINT GOT SHIT ON THE LAKERS. SO WHAT IF THEY BEAT CLEVELAND; THEY SHOULD OF. SHAQ WAS THE WORST PICK UP BY ANY NBA TEAM IN THE OFF-SEASON. ALL THAT FAT SOB DOES CLOG UP THE LANE AND PREVENTS LEBRON FROM DRIVING TO THE BUCKET AND WE ALL KNOW LEBRON ONLY DRIVES BECAUSE HIS ASS CANT HIT A JUMP SHOT TO SAVE HIS LIFE. SO BOSTON BEATING CLEVELAND DONT IMPRESS ME NO MORE THAN THE LAKERS BEATING THE CLIPPERS.

I SWEAR, ALL YOU DUMBASS CELTIC FANS NEED TO GET THE HELL OFF THIS WEBSITE. ALL YALL DO IS MAKE YOURSELVES LOOK LIKE A BUNCH OF DUMBASSES.

      • Laker Marc

        no joke ptg
This is the LAST place a Celtic Fan should be. I was pissed by Reggie Millers comments that he now favoured the Celtics to win it all since the pick up of Rasheed who cares about rasheed Wallace? They’re a bunch of old ailing fux!!!!! When he guest hosted the Lakers Training camp just a few weeks ago he was all over the Lakers claiming there was No one, and in fact, he said no one would even be in the same building as The Lakers all season long. Now he’s changed his mind. Typical!! Also noticed all those half time jerks who talk shite all season long about LA until its time to jump on the bandwagon as the finals near! Charles Barkley is another one!!! Fat ass..another Shaq. and as for those Spurs dillusionists!!!!! I think I just made up a new word!!! ARGH!!!

    • lkrfan4life

I suppose the Celtics will destroy the Lakers just as badly as they did last season? Or maybe even in as dominating a fashion as they did the BULLS last season?

      • Laker Marc

Nice! a little sarcasm for the Los Angeles elite. Cabbage eating Bostonians just don’t get it. Get passed the EGO, one thing there’s plenty of in the north east, Dillusionists!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • LakersFirst

Aren’t these the same Clippers that beat Boston last year. HAHAHAHAH. SUCKERS!!!

    • Short Dog

That was a cool ring ceremony last night. 15 championships and counting. We cruise control every year. It feels good to be a winner. Having the MVP. Finest fans. Its evident that there are a lot of haters out there. Haters must have it real rough these days. Don’t hate the player, hate the game. Biiiiitch

  • Laker Marc

Kobe and Fish were all choked up…….Kobes also didnt want to cry but you could see the lump in his throat (No jokes please).

    Congratulations Lakers…Only thing missing …..Trevor.

    • PTG23

NO THANKS ON TREVOR. HE CONTRIBUTED BIG LAST SEASON BUT THAT DUDE THOUGHT HE WAS WORTH LAMAR ODOM MONEY; FAR FROM IT MAN. LAKERS WOULD OF GAVE HIM FULL MID-LEVEL BUT HE DIDNT WANT IT. LAKERS GOOD WITH ARTEST THOUGH, DEFENSIVE UPGRADE.

  • Robert

East is Least. There are only about 3 good teams, and the rest are high school basketball teams. That’s why the Cavs didn’t make it to the finals. The West is much harder to get through, and toughens you up. The Clips (w/Griffin) might be the 4th best team in the East, so don’t take this win lightly.
Even the 90s Bulls were in the L’East (which is why they got 72 wins one year). The Lakers can get many wins, but you know, it’s not even as important as developing that playoff caliber team that will crush their opponents, and beat whomever (don’t matter) in the Finals.

  • LakersRTheBest

Haha Cleveland is in dead last… in the EAST! And we know we’ll beat Orlando, and Boston doesn’t stand a chance against our Lakers… This is our year again!

  • NBAmazingkb24

    @PP
LOL Celtics beat Cleveland… what about it?
    wait till Jan. 31st
Sad you guys cant even play us on christmas day
They rather see Lebron and Kobe then Paul Pierce and Kobe.

We owned you last year and we will own you this year
    I’m already counting down.
    So I can LOL again

  • Chicago

I like what I see with the Lakers and I am Blind, tsuj gnidik. Ok, for the Humor but the Lakers are in Zone. It reminds me of the great Laker Teams, when the Great Late Laker , Chick Hearn would stay ‘ they can go with the Muscle or the Greyhounds’. The Laker Show is Back !!!!! and its all about how Coach Jackson can mix it up. Unbelievable!!!!! Just think about this starting 5. 1- Odom 2- Kobe 3- Artest 4-Gasol 5- Bynum. The Magic Show is Back !!!! Oh, well lets watch and enjoy this Season.
