TLN’s Postgame Report: Lakers @ Thunder

lalokcpost

90040750LM007_LAKERS_THUNDERThe Lakers improved to 3-1 on the new season despite some poor play against the young and energetic Thunder Tuesday night. It took 53 minutes and a great second half from Kobe for the Lakers to put this one in the books.

Turnovers were the biggest problem for the Lakers tonight. 25 turnovers off plenty of poor decisions from just about everyone on the team! Get this statistic — no Laker starter had less than 4 turnovers! I don’t think you will ever see that from any NBA team ever! Kobe led the way with seven turnovers. I guess the good sign was that our bench only had 2.

The Thunder themselves weren’t much cleaner with 21 turnovers themselves.

The Lakers however, made it up with good shooting by hitting 52% of their shots and 5 of 11 from behind the arc. They also held the Thunder to only 43% shooting and 6 of 23 from three point land.

The Lakers played pretty good defense tonight on Durant… while he did have 28 points, he took 24 shots and had his share of turnovers with seven.

Now, the bests of the day…

Top 3 Laker Performers -

1) Artest had his 2nd consecutive great game. 20 points on 8 shots, 6 assists and 5 steals with very good defense throughout the game.

2) Bynum took care of business in the middle with another double double. He finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds.

3) Kobe’s seven turnovers keeps him from #3 today. Instead Lamar played pretty solid all night doing a bit of everything.

Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): Luke didn’t really do anything to help the team today.

Play of the Night: Kobe’s jumper to put the Lakers up for the lead.

What to Look for Next Game: Ariza’s return against the Lakers… should be fun!
