The Lakers couldn’t pull this one out Sunday night in Toronto. It was one of the few games since Gasol arrived in L.A. that the Lakers lost after leading after 3 quarters of play.

The Lakers had a 4 point lead with less than 2 minutes and the ball, but did not execute well late. Bad fouls, bad shots, and turnovers beat the Lakers.

It really just sucks to lose at the free-throw line. I would have also liked to see the Lakers set up a better final play rather than Kobe hoisting a long fadeway three-pointer in the final second.

Three Lakers had over 20 points tonight and Farmar came in off the bench to add 17.

The difference tonight came at the line where the Raptors shot 17 more free throws than the Lakers.

Now, the bests of the day…

Top 3 Laker Performers -

1) Kobe had a near triple double with 27 points, 16 boards and 9 assists.

2) Bynum had 21 points, 9 boards and 2 blocks.

3) Farmar added 17 off the bench on 7 of 11 shooting in 21 minutes.

Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): Shannon Brown had a costly mistake late in the game with a turnover.

Play of the Night: Kobe’s dunk from the right side of the lane.

What to Look for Next Game: The Lakers hit the nations capital Tuesday night as they face the Arenas-less Wizards. Should be an easy W.

Smush of the day- Pau Gasol.

    • lakeb

PAU GASOL OWNS. HE HAD 22 POINTS, 9 REBOUNDS, 2 BLOCKS. IF YOU WANT TO BLAME SOMEONE. BLAME ARTEST. HE HAS NOT BEEN PRODUCTIVE AT ALL OFFENSIVELY, AND STRUGGLES IN BIG GAMES DEFENSIVELY. HES BRINGING THE LAKERS DOWN. TRADE HIM

  • mr.laker19

Pau has looked horrible of late. Bottom line is we have too much dead weight on our team, After Odom, Brown, and Farmar, our bench is the worst in the league. And Odom and Farmar are inconsistent

TRADE HIM.

      • WifelovesLuke

Is there an echo in here?

  • travis anderson

this team isnt going to win the title. they just dont have the same hunger

    • Green Flannel

some fan you are..or can you read the future?

      • AllthewayLA

well if the lakers dont change their attitude, he might just be true. the problem with the team is the attitude, not them.

      • Morpheus

        He can, he’s Mr. Anderson!

  • HIGHFLYER

even the nba gametime announcers said that the turkoglu foul wasnt supposed to happen. it was the end of the game and there shouldnt have been a whistle. i just hate it man,,, first the varejoa foul now the turkoglu foul, WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THE LEAGUE AND THEIR HATRED AGAINST US MAN, THIS GAME WAS OURS BUT WE HANDED IT TO THEM WITH THE LOB FROM ODOM TO FARMAR, THE FULL COURT PASS. I FKIN LOVE THE LAKERS BUT CMON MAN, PLAY WITH HUNGER. N NOW THIS SUPPOSEDLY MAKES KOBE NON CLUTCH BECAUSE HE MISSED THE SHOT.

    • HIGHFLYER

not fkin mentioning the free thros differential again. cmon refs, you have those fkin whistles to blow at each team not only the one against the lakers.

    • 09champs!

I dont care what everybody else thinks, we know Kobe is the best clutch player today; Luke´s pass was behind, so he had to control it and the put up a turnaround 40 footer and almost made it. When we lost against Cleveland, I know Lebron made some shots in the 4th, but when they were up by 2 and James was shooting freethrows, he still couldnt put it away making just 1 of 2, if it wouldnt have been for the Varejao rebound (which i think wasnt a foul, just like today), LA would have had an opportunity to tie the game, so that argument is no sense.

BTW Kobe had a career high with 16 rebs, and should´ve gotten at least 3 more assists, with passes to Pau missing from the inside and Ron outside.

      • trevors_voodooDoll

yeah I thought Luke’s pass sucked too, Stu was about to call him out but considering the situation I guess it was the best he could do

      • Big Phil

Why did we have to bring Puke in at the end. So much for his great passing. When he’s on the floor the other team doesn’t even bother guarding him when he’s outside. They’d probably pay him to shoot from the outside.

  • Green Flannel

how did the lakers lose that eleven point lead? i wasnt watching cuz of the saints but MAN what letdown!

  • drive-for-16th

fuk the refs man they just want us to lose and shit.

  • Justin M.

that high screen and roll kobe and gasol were playing in the first half was killing the raptors and in the 2nd half they just didn’t use it anymore! What gives?

    • daboss1848

      high iq squad

  • http://TheLakersNation Marwan..

Do you people realise how many teams would want Pau Gasol right now, whether he is slumping and missing FTs or not? They would go after him in a heartbeat. This man is one of the greatest forwards playing the game and hes in a slump and having a few bad games, like any other player does. Yet you continue to mock him and just expect perfection from him.
You should realise, with Pau Gasol, LA is the championship team it is known as. Without Pau, you can clearly see that the Lakers cant really work well.
You shouldnt really play the blaming game when Lakers lose. It was a team effort and the team lost. No certain player lost the game for the Lakers.

    • 09champs!

Well said, I think people just got used to watching Pau play great, and when he has a bad game, they cant wait to bash him. Dont you “Laker fans” remember when we got him? how happy everybody was. Pau is the best power forward in the league right now.

It wouldnt surprise me to see 1 more bad game from Pau and have “fans” wanting to trade him. Please, if we get to the playoffs in 1st or in 8th place, it doesnt matter. I saw the replay of game 1 of the finals of last year, and everybody steps up their game, so we are ok, just chill out.

      • Randy’s Donuts

Isn’t this when Pau should be stepping up? Kobe’s out there fukin’ hurt and giving everything he gots, and yet nobody else is fukin steppin up! If Pau is the best power forward in the league, he should step up like a big dog, tell Kobe to give him the rock, and be droppin 30+ on these weak a$$ teams.

        • trevors_voodooDoll

True! I think thats why people are doggin’ Pau recently, Cause Kobe has stepped up and played through injury while Pau was sitting on the sideline nursin his hammie! Also for some reason Pau plays harder for his international team…. maybe he can bring some of thaat energy here!

    • drive-for-16th

ya hes great and shit man but that doesnt solve our losing problem he needs to step up when we need him and others too, i want to trade sasha, ammo wat ever garbage we can unload to get someone good.

    • Big Phil

      You are absolutely right.

Pau Gasol is our second best player BY FAR!!!

  • lakeb

TRADE RON ARTEST, HE IS NOT BEING PRODUCTIVE OFFENSIVELY OR DEFENSIVELY. TRADE RON ARTEST FOR AL THORNTON OR CRAIG SMITH

    • 09champs!

Here we go with the wannabe GM´s
      man this is hilarious hahaah

      • lakeb

WTF R U TALKING ABOUT? ARTEST HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING OFFENSIVELY, AND STRUGGLES DEFENSIVELY IN BIG GAMES. HE CANT EVEN GRAB A REBOUND. HES A FORWARD! HE HAD 1 REBOUND TONIGHT, 5 POINTS. PAU CANT DO EVERYTHING HIMSELF(22pts 9rebounds 2 blocks tonight) , BYNUMS FINALLY IS STEPPING UP. ARTEST IS HORRIBLE, WATCH THE GAMES, READ THE STATS, LAKERS MISS TREVOR ESPECIALLY IN SCORING AND REBOUNDING. GET ARTEST OUT, TRY TO GET SOMEONE LIKE THORNTON

        • Big Phil

What a shame we couldn’t somehow have kept trevor and flushed Luke. What a waste of money this Oompa Loompa is.

      • Randy’s Donuts

Shut the Fuk up 09Champs! You win a championship with Ariza, a guy who’s motor never stopped, and you get Artest who can’t even fukin’ jump. Plus you don’ want to pay Ariza, but you give Sasha and Walton big deals. Fuk Mitch! I bet Kobe still wished we had Ariza cuz Ariza was like Horry, never stopped working and never got fukin’ punked! Kobe G.O.A.T.! Go Lakers!

        • 09champs!

hahahah now you are fucking mitch Randy´s Donuts (what a name) , for your understanding Trevor´s agent was asking for 8-9 mil from the lakers, that´s not money for Trevor, i mean he was great, but not to pay him that money, so we turned to artest, who as drive-for-16 says, is the reason why we are one of the best teams defensively. He is playing with feet problems. Today i was watching the game on the raptors network, and they said Ron was playing awesome D on Turkoglu, just because Turkoglu “got fouled” doesnt mean Ron didnt play him well, because that wasnt a foul. So you better think before writing.

          • Randy’s Donuts

shut up youre an idiot! ron is washed up and doesnt have that thug mentality anymore which made him one of the best defensive players in the league.

        • lex

don’t get ur g.sting in a bunch Artest will payoff in the playoff he will add the tuffness we need down the strech when going up against Melo & portland/queen james in the finals ……………..kobe 2nd greatest of alltime

          • Green Flannel

Randy, you are not thinking straight. Shaq is more of a wash up than Artest. The Lakers are BANGED UP! we need to either play through like men or stop playing and have the franchise retire. Because if Pau is terrible, Andrew is a pussy, and Ron is not “thug” enough for this league then i have no clue what they are playing for. We are fine where we are. Like i have said before, we do not need a complete make over, if anything a few minor adjustments on the bench. Randy, you REALLY need to think before you write.

    • drive-for-16th

we will not trade artest, hes the reason why we are good defence team.

      • lakeb

yea dude that really showed in both cavs games. artest sucks at the game of basketball. hes just a big body. ariza kept lebron to 16 points last february. this year, artest has shown he cant guard lebron or melo. MOST IMPORTANTLY he cant score or rebound. plus hes all of a sudden coming out with this whole foot injury thing that hes had for this past year. rockets would be crazy to give ariza back. i say trade artest for a good young small forward like thornton who can rebound

        • 09champs!

You say trade artest. Fine. But you forget something, you have absolutely no power on the lakers, and probably Mitch wont read your comment. So Ron will be around for the next 3-5 years.

You like it, fine. You dont, fine also.. but remember he is and will be a laker.

          • lakeb

ahhahahahahahahaha. if lakers beat boston sunday, mitch probably will not make a move. but if they lose, he probably will

        • lex

dude its not artest the problem is Gasol/bynum if labron gets by Artest they have to step up and make him chage his shot or take a hard foul, because only time his jumper comes to life is if he gets lay ups or fast break dunks

  • AllthewayLA

No trading. ATTITUDE man, thats the problem nothing or no one else.

  • drive-for-16th

with this attitude we do not deserve to win.

  • http://57.amklac KOBES LITTLE PENE

hey, kobe missed ANOTHER BUZZER SHOT, any of you douche nozzles notice??misses don`t count aganist him,but if he makes it he`s a hero????oh forgot he`s hurt…built in excuse for failure.

    • keepon_keepinon18

Its not Kobe’s fault the Lakers lost thats why. The game should have never come down to the last shot.
I thought the Lakers did much better than the Cleveland game in terms of being physical. They made it a priority to push it inside to Andrew or Pau. What they lacked this game is a killer instinct to close off hope for the opposition.
A lost is a lost but its also a step in the right direction.

    • Green Flannel

Ok, kobe missed. Who praises a player for missing? He missed not only because of a bad inbound pass and a low percentage shot but we loss because of the overall team effort. Kobe isn’t afraid to take the big shots like LeBron would. He isn’t afraid to fail that’s what happened. He is only human. Also, when has KB come up short in a game-winner this season? Get back to me when you have a good enough rebuttal.

  • drive-for-16th

this game the refs won for toronto.

  • http://57.amklac KOBES LITTLE PENE

lets see when your special needs team(lakers)get the calls all is good….when its even or another team is more hungry..the refs are blamed…..thats as weak as pau.

    • drive-for-16th

i didnt see any hunger when turkglou drived, if the refs never called that non call then no way turk would make that cause he lost the ball and rather they call a foul which no refs ever does with the game on the line and he blew the whistle to give them the lead. they should have let them play on and see if for once the raps make a buzzer beator now that would’ve shown there hunger.

  • drive-for-16th

the call was to bail turk out, doesnt show no hunger cause we would’ve won, they could not make a buzzer beator so refs gave them free throws.

    • lex

man don’t start with blown calls that a cop out this is the Raptors were talking about not the Cavs the game should be a automatic blowout.

  • lilkobe24

    im cool

  • lex

Trade Bynum for Bosh we need tuffness~ high enery players all bynum wants to do is score, he’s way to big not to be a bigger threat on defense. We need shot blocking from his and Gasol plus more rebounds and if odom out there we basicly have 3 7footers on the qourt at once, this is a shame, they make kobe look bad he makes game changing shots 8times a game and they blow it at the end.

  • drive-for-16th

    fuck lamar odom.

    • lex

im with u he can’t do shit

      • JoeGreen

ditto!!! I say a lot more but it keeps getting deleted!! This blog can’t handle the truth!!!

        • lex

why mitch get odom/grant for shaq imagine if we got wade :) instead kobe/wade :) shit we coould play 2 on 5

    • Green Flannel

yea he con’t do shit but get double-doubles when he starts……………..hmmmm who is a better bench player than LO and what team has a bench player that good. Jeez you dumb fucks need to pay attention!

  • tradesasha

what the hell is lamar odom doing man!! fuckin pissing me off…he should play with more passion!

    • lex

listen all left handers suck it’s as simple as that, odom he can’t shoot, goes to the hole…………wistle charge……..soft always trying to fight but never does trade his ass for tmac

      • Toni

Excuse me…. Not all left handed people suck! … How can you generalize your statement like that?

I’m a “southpaw” and even though I am not a basketball player (or a gifted sports player at that), I have a pretty good head on my shoulder where “book smarts” is my niche.

        • lex

well i just u just gave my statement more power left hand basketball players suck i don’t know one great left handed basketball player thorugh the history of the NBA other than Chris Mullin, possilbe Derick Coleman and old dude from the knicks & NFL great Steve young other than that LEFT handers suck so shut up and take it is’s the truth……………………. :)…lol im just playing with u

  • Randy’s Donuts

farmar is a bum! why is he always in at the end of the game and why do him and brown always play together i hate that damn lineup! trade farmar, sasha, and adam please mitch!

  • JoeGreen

Kobe is the ONLY one worth watching on this effing lame team. They are stacked with talent and they all underutilize every bit of it. It’s really sickening to watch. Kobe must be pissssssssed!!!! He brings it every game – these other guys are bums!! Trade any or all of them for players who play hard every game. You can have less talent but it you play with total passion then that trumps talent and cockiness.

I honestly would rather watch a team of no talents play their ass off for their fans then these lazy turds.

    • Randy’s Donuts

100% agree man! thats why the cavs are so productive. but still fuck lebron.

      • JoeGreen

And I agree with you. Cavs and the Rockets of last year. Lakers should have never let it get to 7 games but the Rockets played their asses off. But I too absolutely hate lbj. He is a total piece of %$#@.

    • drive-for-16th

u said they are stacked with talent, i agree, but listen to wat odom says, the douche said “we get cocky.”
heres a list of odom’s achievements
1 – No passion for the game
2 – played good in 2 round of playoffs, got a contract = game over
      3 – Too much candy
4 – HE GETS FUCKIN COCKY FOR NO REASON.

      • Green Flannel

Lamar odom is one of the most versatile players in NBA history, and we need everyone on this team to make to the Finals again. Ok, they can get cocky but come playoffs, once again they will step up and play hard. Their cockiness is telling them the middle of the season is not that important. And if you dumb asses think trading most of the team is effective then go to hell we wouldn’t be in the playoffs. The lakers are going to the ship again no doubt. So fuck off you wanna be Mitch’s. Dumb asses!

    • drive-for-16th

talent isn’t everything ya’ll, hard work pays off, thats why rockets took us to 7 games cause we had too much talent. This team is bunch of fucking dumbasses except for kobe and d-fish.

      • lakeb

yea okay. even tho with GASOL kobe wouldnt even have a league mvp. lakers wouldnt have gone to the last 2 finals.

        • lakeb

          WITH OUT*

Some of you guys are fucking stupid, it was a close game today and we should have won, sure but stand by your team seriously. We’re gonna get through this

    • lex

trade bynum for bosh………..do it now please hit the fukkkkn EASY botton

  • drive-for-16th

kobe and d-fish know how to handle shit and how to repeat, noone on this team has ever even one a ring before last season, the rest of the guys think they are too good, that they dont have to play hard everynight. Well fuck them, they get paid millions of dollars to play a fucking baketball game and not even earn their money. Fuk that, People out there dying in the world and working their asses of to bearly feed their families, fuk these players, for getting cocky and not playing hard, they dont deserve that money, well atleast they work hard enough for it, players like kobe would succeed in other jobs and things too because their mind set and work ethic, players liek odom and sasha and these tools will never make it in life, they should be lucky to be in the nba and thankfull to god for giving them wat people dream of. considering all that should atleast fucking play with heart, fucking disgrace to human kind. Im soo pissed of at odom and sasha and the rest of the non factors getting paid millions in thsi fucking league.

    • trevors_voodooDoll

They say Andrew still walks around with his ring on after practice… he needs to borrow kobes mentality and put it away and focus on this year

      • drive-for-16th

i hope he fucking loses that ring, then we can just take sashas and give it to him.

  • http://TheLakersNation Marwan..

I’m really angry about the refs. Seriously, even Stu said “Refs don’t like to blow the whistle late in the games”. Why did the refs do it then? Even Pau said he had his arm on Hedo’s back but he didn’t push him like the refs claim he did.
This is seriously a problem. Wherever we play, the FT differential is always against us. If we had attempted 1 more FT, then the game would’ve been tied, but no, we had to have attempted 17 less FTs than Raptors. FTs kept them in it, the refs kept us out of it.

  • letherebelight

    holla

  • letherebelight

    that was jus a test……..

the real issue at hand is coaching. first of all the line-up doesnt, and hasnt worked. we can blame LO, PAU, OR WHOEVER BUT THE REAL PROBLEM LIES WITH THE LINE-UP. so with that being said, every year we have had these same players, i have been preaching a change.

    Starting line-up
    Farmar
    Kobe
    Artest
    Lamar
    Pau

    Second-unti
    Fisher
    S.Brown
    luke (get someone)
    Powell
    Bynum

I wish they could hear me. this will work. i mean phil can change the SF position how he wants but this will work.
Only players we need to trade are AMMO,SASHA,LUKE. i dont care how good lukes IQ is, its not worth the $. And Ariza is worth more than those 3 put together. why not get another Sf (defender/shooter). G.WALLACE, MIKE MILLER, damn even C.Butler would work.

HUNGER is another problem. Bynum needs to chill, take one for the team cuz he is destroying pau gasols game. if he is with the 2nd unit he will get more touches and maybe play late in the 4th. we need to build leads not play catch up. blow teams out then let our bench play.

Has anyone heard about REST. damn i know we trying to get that home-court, but we have won rings without homecourt. if u gonna win, it shouldnt matter if its home or away.

Kobe please rest, i thinks its only 3 weeks for your finger to heal after surgery. i think everyone else will step up. Kobes shoot is looking weird, his defense is suspect because he cant use that hand. At least let artest rest, he got foot issues, sit his ass. we need him in the playoffs. hes just looking sad out there. not the true-warrior im used to seeing.

All in all no time for panic, jus tweak some things. Only trade the bench players that i mentioned. Keep the rest in order. Fisher is getting old, give jordan or shannon a chance please phil.

    • JFK-analysis-at-TLN

My friend, i don’t know who you are but you make EXCELLEENT points. when Lo plays with the first unit he get 15 and 12… as a 6th man he get 5 and 10.

if bynum comes off rthe bench our ‘bench mob’ would be so much better. we would have a legit center applying pressure at all times. and i love the idea of playing fish with bynum- when farmar plays with AB, all he does is pick-and-roll-which reduces ab’s productivity…

let AB be the ‘go to guy” with the second unit….

  • letherebelight

o yea f**K the refs. David Stern hates the Lakers. i’ve never seen bad officiating in my life. Lebron and Shaq travel, call that sh*t. I mean pau might have a lil softness, but he does get fouled. Check the Refs…….cuz they suck

  • mystified

kobe cryant will never sit to heel his injured finger and take a chance on somebody else getting credit if by chance the lakers win. it would benefit the team if he would rest because maybe they would play team ball instead of being so scared of kobe that all they do is stand around to see what he will do next

    • etreyy08

kobe played great today, near triple double wut r u talking about. It wont make a difference if he sits; His finger is still healing with him playing and if it gets hit itll only be sore he said that himself. U really think the lakers would even win 1 game on this road trip w/o kobe??? do u even watch basketball. REad this

      http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/columns/story?id=4855546

  • http://TheLakersNation Marwan..

Whats the reason you people say they should bench Bynum and Fisher? Cause they suck and can’t play? Ok, if you think that, fine. But bringing LO and Shannon/Farmar to start would make the bench WAY worse than it is. Think about it. LO is the captain of the bench and Shannon/Farmar control the tempo and energy of the bench. Bringing them off the bench to start would take all that away from the bench. And if the reason you bench Fisher and Bynum is cause they suck, then sending them to the bench would make the bench WORSE and so when the starters are getting rest, and the bench doesn’t play good, they go in earlier than they do now. Packing more minutes. Thats how Phil is thinking about the lineups. Plus, if we do start Odom and Shannon/Farmar, then that means we are using all our weapons in one blow and once they are tired, the 2nd unit and 3rd unit won’t be able to sustain what the starters did.

So keeping thing the way they are now, the starters deal the first blow, then LO and the bench come in and deal the 2nd blow because LO being the certified starter he is plays the 6th man and leads the bench as if he was the captain. Trust me, the lineup right now is great, its just the player rotations that are killing it. Right now the rotations are:
The starters, LO, Shannon, Luke and Farmar. Thats a 9 player rotation, of course that would tire them out really quickly with 4 bench players playing and that means one starter would pack more minutes, usually being Kobe at SF or Pau C. What they need is to deal those who aren’t playing for players who can contribute so that would add more depth to the team and that would increase the rotation to 10 or 11 player rotation which is what we want.
The lineup Phil has is great, just the 3rd unit players that dont contribute need to go and bring in more threats off the bench such as DJ Augustin from Bobcats who is a great 3PT shooter, or Boobie Gibson from the Cavs is also a great shooter.
Its players like those that make the other teams’ bench better, we had that with Sasha and our bench was great til he disappeared.
If we can get players like that, then Kobe won’t need to sit out games, just sit out whole quarters with the bench out there playing like the bench they were 2 years ago.

  • etreyy08

Boobie gibson?! idk how u can say we should add a cavs player lol but i do agree about shipping out the dead weight and increase our bench depth especially since fish doesnt contribute statistically much anymore, if at all and LAMAR was apparently the one who missed the plane because i dont remember him playing today (point being LO shows up wenever he wants).
    .
    .
. Lakers should trade ammos expiring contract and sasha vujacic to the bull for kirk hinrich. Would work out and we get a guy who could fill the point, pass, and shoot 3s and add a littlemore toughness. This team needs ENERGY (wut ariza brought unlike an unhealthy artest) and a shakeup.

  • drive-for-16th

Vujacic, ammo for 10 million dollars worth of candy.

Gasol needs to change his DNA-(Lady-Like)-approach to the game, especially in crunch time… Nice guys rarely finish first in any type of heated competition… regardless of the obviously blinded & devoted Gasol fan or fans, who actually believe Gasol is the main reason The Lakers went to the Finals the last couple years or that he somehow got Kobe an MVP award, is more than just ignorant, but completely absurd!

…What is a well known fact is that Pau Gasol never-ever was winner of a single playoff game before coming to the Lakers-(and he played in many)! …Gasol simply needs to somehow change his DNA-grow some) and get tougher regardless and without the obvious fear he harbors from retribution of his opponent! …Or “HE”, and subsequently, “The Lakers” will suffer the consequences and continue to be taken advantage of-(punked)-such like Boston did in the 2008 Finals… This is the formula on how to beat the Lakers and the tougher teams know it! …They will continue to apply this formula until something is done about it… Nuff Said!

    • THE WARLOCK

Tho I just got a look at some of Gasol’s ‘Gasoline’ in your face slama-jama dunks over Kevin ‘The Big Ticket’ Garnet, while taking a couple other wolves to school with him, and with a swagger to boot!
…The Bird Man Anderson, in his grill, or should I say flaps? …And, even Dwight ‘Superman’ Howard, with no kryptoNate for an excuse! …But this, mostly back in the day when he played for The Grizzlies!
…He needs to bring this attitude to his game, TODAY & MORE OFTEN! …Not to mention a real man’s haircut.

    • lakerman1

I kind of agree with this because Gasol does not bring the same fire to the team that is supporting his lifestyle as he does when he plays for Spain which seems to be the case for some of the International players. I am not knocking on his Patiotism just saying show the same desire for the USA team that is paying you.

  • drive-for-16th

    Theres an article that headlines
    “Raptors Turkglu shutsdown Lakers”

  • KBGOAT

    Gasol soft?? ask Dwight.
Don’t worry they will turn it on in the playoffs.

Why is Kobe and Fisher (he is but his age masks his performance) the only ones trying their best to win? Funny how they both have 4 rings and were part of a 3-peat. Oh right! The rest of the team doesn’t have the mindset Kobe and Fisher have because they’re all one-time champions. Kobe and Fisher have the experience of repeating and they know what it takes to repeat, it takes much, much more than winning it without repeating. Thats why they are playing the best (once again, Fisher’s age masks his performance). The rest of the team is still young and I say they will use this season as an experience in the future on how to handle post-championship seasons, and what it will take to repeat. Right now, they just don’t know how to handle situations and how to approach games. Its a mentality thing more than it is a physical thing.
Get that to your heads before you talk about “trade ____, bench ____, let ____ go, we need ____, Lakers suck!” Come on people, and you call yourselves fans? Fans go through ups and downs of the season with their team, WITHOUT resorting to doing what you people are doing.

  • drive-for-16th

The teams bin down all season theres no up in any of this. All eere goibg through is downfall all season

  • leo

shut the f up bout ridiculous trades, tweaks, player softness, struggling, what not….we have the best record in the league or tie with cleveland…we got no competition in the west to go to the finals…the only thing worth doing is the bosh for bynum trade!

    • etreyy08

well u just contradicted yourself. I hate that “we have the best record in the league” crap; it’s y theyre playing carelessly and with a false sense of security. I’m glad they dont have it anymore. These get paid MILLIONS to PLAY BALL, the least the could do is play with passion. Thats all we ask for (and pay for wen going to games). I’ve yet to see that this season except for the beginning of the game we had at home to the magic. We only have the record we have because of the home-heavy schedule (which ppl talk about like as if we asked for it, its not our fault damn league). Just look at our road record. The lakers know we have a target on our back but continue to fail to give respect to their opponents. Something has to change.

  • http://TheLakersNation Marwan..

Actually, after the loss to the Raptors, Cleveland has the best record. One win more than us.

  • http://57.amklac KOBES LITTLE PENE

if the SO CALLED MAMBA could EVER SHOOT 50%….SOFT ASS LAKERS WOULD WIN.he misses way way way to many shots.

    • lakerman1

Boy some of the nitwits on this blog. Why don’t you go with the Clippers your comment is asinine.

  • Anthony

Everyone seems to have their sights set on the playoffs. Particularly the finals.

It’d be nice to see our Lakers come out with energy just once this season. With hustle, with a drive that we know they can have.

Everyone blaming this on one or two players sucks. This kind of sucking is a team effort.

  • LAKESHOW1

For the record, I think we as fans really need to get our acts together as well. I read these post game reports all the time and it astonishes me as to how much negative talk goes on about “OUR” team after a loss. Yeah, losing sucks but being extremely negative about everything does not make anything better. Yeah, we all know that the Lakers are capable of playing better basketball, but losses will happen. I guarantee the Lakers will get in sync soon. We are barely reaching the half way point and we have injuries all over the place. Again, yeah we have been losing some games that we should be winning, but at the same time we are still first place in the West while playing rather complacent basketball. There was a point last year where we hit a slump as well, but then it suddenly turned around. Trust me, we are far far from the point where we need to start “trading” every player that has a bad game. Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson are not going to let this team fail. Trust me, the players definitely hear all this negative talk and they all know that they are losing games that they are supposed to be winning, but at the same time, the last thing we want to do is start turning against our “OWN” team and playing the blame game. By doing so, we are wasting own time and the time of the hundreds of real Lakers fans who continuously check into thelakersnation.com. If you think Kobe and Phil aren’t already addressing these issues, then you are wrong. We all know that Kobe wants to win more than anybody in this league…hands down! You never know, maybe something like the visit with Obama today might provide some extra motivation for the team. My point is that the play of the Lakers as of late it not the only thing that needs to improve, but the fan base for the Lakers definitely needs some improvement as well because let’s face it, we aren’t the best fans………and we all know it.

    • THE WARLOCK

Guarantee? Trust you? Says who??? C’mon fool, everyone and anyone is entitled to express their feelings or opinions on this blog! That’s what it’s here for!
I can assure YOU, nobody here wants to hear; your despotic reprimand about anything.
Hugo Chavez wannabees do not belong here; so sound off LakersNation-with no fear!

      • LAKESHOW1

I am not stopping anyone from saying or doing anything. Do what you will, I am just calling it how I see it. I am”sounding off” the way in which I want to sound off, just as you are sounding off the way you want to. Yeah, there are obviously things that the team could be doing better, but I just find it funny that everyone becomes so damn negative when we really are not in bad shape yet. I agree, I am at fault for making it seem like I was trying to censor other fans and for that I take fault because that really was not my intention.
We are in first place, We have the best closer/player in the game, We have the best coach in the game and We have one of the best power forwards in the game. i noticed above that you talk about Gasol being soft, which I do completely agree with at times, but then again I never heard this trash talk when he was having the monster 20, 15 reb games and I never heard this trash talk when he was playing Dwight Howard in the finals. Don’t take offense, all I am saying is that we as Lakers fans have “extremely high expectations” (Kobe Bryant said that btw) and we take for granted the talent we have on our team. We expect dominate wins in all games (and that is not a bad thing) but at the same time we can’t freak when a player has a bad game or when the Lakers lose. We are still first in the West…so we must be doing something right.
I agree that the Lakers play has been lacking lately, but the season is still far from being over……you are right, there are no “guarantees” and I should not have written that, but I also think that we are still far from the point where we have to panic. Yeah, my being positive about the Lakers may seem unrealistic, but keep in mind that so do the majority of your comments. I choose to be a fan how I please and you are a fan in your own right and I respect that.

  • drive-for-16th

im more pissed right now, because espn said the MVP trophy is already lebrons that hes getting it this year for sure again.

    • gugy

Lebron can have his MVP, I don’t give a sh•t as long as Kobe get the finals MVP and Lakers win another ring.

    • etreyy08

i know but they didnt say that on jan.1st wen kobe was the clear favorite. its bull****; now they say especially since the cavs swept the lakers. Well kobe swept lebron last season and had a better record against the winning teams, played great but it didnt count against lebron. Kobes leading an injured lakers team (with his own injuries) and had them with the best record up till now yet he only gets punished because of his so called BETTER “supporting cast” that doesnt play hard every game like lebrons does. They swear cleveland is crap, i mean theyre not the best but they dont have the record they do for no reason.

  • berkyberks

hey steve! 1.2 sceonds left who you gonna go for? he made 3 buzzer beaters he just missed 1 and now your saying they should make a better play. which one? as the nba coaches who they wan’t to take the last shot? I’ll choose kobe anytime.

  • http://57.amklac KOBES LITTLE PENE

  • tHE ONE!

How about we blame phil for keeping Kobe and gasol out of the game too long in both the loss to cleveland and torronto

    • THE WARLOCK

I completely agree! …Can’t just TALK about having or lacking thereof, in regards to applying the killer instinct; but you-(Phil) must act upon it to realize it!

  • http://57.amklac KOBES LITTLE PENE

BLAME KOBE…..HE MISSED THE WINNING SHOT….AGAIN!

    • http://TheLakersNation laffs atu

  • http://57.amklac KOBES LITTLE PENE

YOU SWALLOW WHEN HE MAKES ONE, DO YOU SPIT WHEN HE MISSES?

    • http://TheLakersNation laffs atu
