The Lakers improved to 7 and 2 on the road for the season with an impressive win in Detroit Sunday afternoon. The game got kind of close at the end, but the Lakers really controlled this one from the start.

Great ball movement and great defense helped give the Lakers the 93-81 victory today.

Both teams only shot 41% from the field, but it was the Lakers 15 steals as a team that made the difference.

The Lakers got many second chance points as well. Bynum, Pau, and Lamar got their hands on many offensive boards leading to easy baskets.

Many Lakers contributed tonight and the Lakers didn’t have to rely on any single player to win this game. Gasol didn’t even score until the Lakers had already blown this game open. Four of the five Lakers hit double figures as they were very unselfish today.

Now, the bests of the day…

Top 3 Laker Performers -

1) Kobe had another efficient game. 28 points and 5 steals for the Black Mamba.

2) Artest played amazing defense all night with his 6 steals.

3) Bynum had 16 and 7 tonight on 7 of 8 shooting, mostly dunks… but it was great to see him involved again.

Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): Shannon Brown played good defense, but offensively he made several poor decisions and missed 8 of his 9 attempts.

Play of the Night: Bynum’s tip-dunk off Brown’s missed layup.

What to Look for Next Game: Lakers come back home Tuesday night to face the Thunder. Should be a fast paced game.

    This was a great game, but the lead did come down abit but… no lead is safe in the NBA. Although Brown went 1-9, his defense made up for it, he was hustling for loose balls and played a great game. Odom had a great game too. The starters, as usual, were unstoppable, with all starters hitting double digits except for DFISH. Artest though, had 9 assists to go along with 14 points. Bynum played great with 16 points and Pau had a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards. The past couple of games on the road, the Lakers have kept the opponent to the lowest scoring output on the day out of all the NBA games. All up though, Lakers’ defense was great today, with 15 steals, 6 from Artest and 5 from Kobe, and 6 blocked shots, 3 from Bynum, 2 from Pau.

    Artest also had 9 assists!

    I think Josh was the STD. He took a shot with a lot of time left on the shot-clock when the Pistons were making an attempt on a comeback. He also goal-tended a shot that was going to be a brick. He acted like he didn’t even care.

    I think Josh Powell played the poorest, at the end he took a jumper with 17 seconds still on the shot clock and missed it badly.

  • Joselio Nimasaja Anicar Tado

    i miss Kwame’s defense

      Tell me you are not serious.

          Ring count, finals count

          Gasoft = 1, 2
          Kwame = 0,0

    kwame? hahahahaha

  • JPHater

    Josh Powell is an idiot. The Lakers should release him. He shoots it anytime he touches the ball. We should package him and Sasha for Nate Robinson.

    • http://LakersNation Marwan..

      J Peezy is a good shooter for his height, its an advantage but he just cant get into rhythm at times. For Nate though, Id want to keep J Peezy because hes the reason we have a big roster, packaging him for Nate is a significant loss of our height. But, if Mitch can pull off a steal without any significant loss, i.e. losing anyone from starting five or Odom and Brown, then Mitch should do it, just without giving up too much height or too much talent. D’Antoni is a selfish coach though, he says they are 4-1 or whatever, with him on the bench, and he is saying it upfront “Nate, you’re a bad player”. Nate has endured this for too long, he has been the underdog for too long so now time for him to come to Lakers where he will be guaranteed a spot on the 2nd unit with PLENTY of playing time. Do it Nate, come to the Lakers.

    LA Lakers Best 5-Man Rotation “Ko P. DA-Ron” or “Ko P. LA-Ron”

    The “Ko P. LA-Ron Dynasty” Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, Andrew Bynum, and Ron Artest. This is the lineup that most experts said would be the rotation that would be the most dominant as the Lakers look to be the leagues first back-to-back champs since the Kobe & Shaq Lakers of 2000-02.

    The “Ko P. LA-Ron” signature nickname breakdown Ko-Kobe, P.-Pau, L-Lamar, A-Andrew, Ron-Ron.

    I love JOSH, but, he has no idea what he’s doin!?!

    POWELL, SASHA for SOMEONE THAT ACTUALLY HAS BRAINS AND CAN HELP THE BENCH, ESPECIALLY ON THE fuck ROAD!

    • WifelovesLuke

      Don’t worry….Luke will be back soon.

  • Josh in D 310

    Maybe too early to say this, but I’m lining up on the parade route already! Hahaha I smell a repeat and no one can beat us 4 out of 7 games. No way we lose a series to anybody. Just hope we stay injury free (A.Bynum) and Drama/ suspension free (R.Artest,K.Bryant). Aside from that we will have no prob repeating as World Champions!!!

    • WifelovesLuke

      Tell me about it….how many technicals does Kobe have already?
