The Lakers continued their road trip Friday night in a back-to-back in New York.

The many Laker fans in attendance got a treat in a game that went back and forth until the fourth quarter when the Lakers clamped down on defense finally and hit many big shots. The Lakers fourth quarter effort tonight was just enough as they hung on for a 115-105 victory.

Every Laker starter hit double figures, both Farmar and Brown had 9 off the bench. As a team, the Lakers shot over 50% from both the field and three-point line.

It was a clean game with only 14 turnovers combined from both teams and very little interior defense as the bigs from both teams dominated the game.

Kobe and Pau also had 23 of the final 31 for the Lakers tonight.

Now, the bests of the day…

Top 3 Laker Performers

1) Pau had 20 points, 8 boards, 5 assists, and 4 blocks… only downside is Lee almost did the same!

2) Kobe didn’t shoot very well, but he hit the big shots late in the fourth to close the game.

3) Bynum shot 7 of 11 for 19 points tonight. He needs to do a better job helping to clean up the boards.

Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): No Laker tonight played STD-like. Luke missed a layup but made up for it with a 3 point shot on the same possession.

Play of the Night: Laker fans chanting “Let’s Go Lakers!” in the fourth quarter at the Garden.

What to Look for Next Game: The Lakers take on the Raptors Sunday afternoon. Should be a higher scoring game… at least for Kobe.

Smush of the day: Pau Gasol’s free throw shooting (considering he’s one of the best free throw shooting big man)

    • papa

1,000 a point for haiti donation

  • Al

How about passing the ball to players with higher percentage, like 7-10 or 7-11. Anyone in the league can go 8-24.

  • drive-for-16th

WE NEED TO GET BYNUM MORE TOUCHES HE HAD 17 POINTS AT THE HALF HE CAN GO FOR LIKE 30+ THEY SHOULD DO THAT, KOBE SHOULDN’T TAKE THAT MANY SHOTS WHEN ITS NOT FALLING AND GIVE IT IN TO BYNUM AND PLAY LIKE THAT AND ONLY SHOOT WHEN U KNOW ITS FALLING FOR SURE, HE SHOULD JUST THROW IT IN AND GET ASSISTS RATHER THAN POINTS. BUT GOOD TO GET A WIN TONIGHT.

    • drive-for-16th

and Bynum always has a good half, but hasn’t bin playing in the forth at last couple of games. Pau make ur fuking free throws man, earlier in the game he missed like 4 freethrows.

      • lakeb

if lakers want to win games. DO NOT GIVE BYNUM THE BALL

        • lakeb

AND ALSO ONCE AGAIN. WE WOULD HAVE GONE TO 2 FINALS WITHOUT GASOL, AND KOBE WOULD NOT HAVE A LEAGUE… WHAT HAS BYNUM DONE? NOTHING. HE BARELY PLAYED IN THE PLAYOFFS LAST YEAR, AND LAMAR USUALLY PLAYED OVER HIM AT THE END OF GAMES.

          • lakeb

            LEAGUE MVP*

  • lakers2000

This is going to be a long road trip. Hang on for the ride. Go Lakers!!!!!!

  • joshLA

kobe needs to REST that damn finger. i hope hes 100 for the playoffs cuz its tough seeing him play like he has all month except for 2 games.

    • Karl

Exactly! He needs to rest his damn finger and back and be ready for the playoffs. He’ll be well rested and then he can go off against the teams like boston and clev. If he’s all buss up then going for 33% shooting will guarantee Lakers losing in first orsecond round.

Also, this will allow the others to ramp up their games and then not to have to worry about kobe yelling at them. Maybe they’ll actually run the triangle.

  • joshLA

kobe needs to REST that darn finger. i hope hes 100 for the playoffs cuz its tough seeing him play like he has all month except for 2 games.

sure look good playing lower level teams…we showed them..!!

    • http://lakersnation ghost of the past

yeah we wasted those losers!!!!!!!!!! ummm dont tell the celtics or cavs i said that… ohh kaay? :( i’m scared they’ll get mad…and give us a terrible beating again.but we have the weak teams shaking in their boots~!!’cowards’

      • Green Flannel

uhh if you hate the lakers so much.. why do you ride their dicks so hard that your on their fan website trying to be sarcastic about winning? get a life or become a true fan of a franchise and when did we play the celtics so how can they give us another beating??

  • BringDFishBack

Please dude, let someone else write these articles. You very clearly do not watch the games. Had you, you would have known Kobe and Pau both played horrible and absolutely did not deserve Top 3 mentions. You say they both play well and manage to criticize the far and away best player of the game for the Lakers, Andrew Bynum.

    • lakeb

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT. BYNUM HAD 19 AGAINST THE KNICKS WOW BIG ACCOMPLISHMENT. TRADE BYNUM FOR SOMEONE WHO CAN ACTUALLY PLAY AND COMPETE EVERY NIGHT

  • trevors_voodooDoll

so do the lakers play better w/o the self proclaimed “best defender” in the lineup?

  • l.alakeshow

seriously man when kobe is shooting so poor why doesn’t he pass the ball to someone that deserves it more like bynum today he had a mismached all damn game how bout pounding that or playing off it….when bynum’s playing this good he needs more touches he could of easily gone for 30 pluss

    • AllthewayLA

      agree.

      • Green Flannel

kobe had 6 assists.. just sayin

        • lakeb

do not pass to bynum. unless you want to lose

  • berkyberks

what happen to their defence this season ? a lot of not known player is been dunkin to them. Clippers, Blazers ,Kings even the knicks even the small rookie of denver …What the hell is the two 7ft. tall gasoft and babynum doing inside including laymar!I just can’t believe its always happening. But honetly I choosed Dlee over babynum trade him, but bosh is perfect!

  • jackmode211

    if you are a shooter…in a shooting slump….you dont STOP shooting…..

…especially if you are the most important player on the team…id rather kobe shoot his way out of a slump than stay in it….no matter how many shots he takes…because sooner or later were gonna NEED him….even though im pretty sure this coincides with his broken finger….

  • drive-for-16th

Phil said kobe needs to stop taking so many shots if his finger is hurting him cause its costing the team a lot of possesions. I think he should play more of a point guard role and pound the ball inside, and even take his own shots BUT only if he has good looks. He needs to stop worrying about his numbrs and shots a lil. Lets win the rest of our road games..

    whats up laker fans…
i suck lebrons dick so hard cause thats what i do… thats what the media does.
he is nothing but an overhyped, arrogant nigga who is so up himself that he is soaked into all the hype…
lebron and i were made for each other… i love talkin about him and he loves talkin about him too… perfect match
*hey man you gonna come finish the job*
oops, sorry gotta go, mr lebron wants me to go finish the job, he is going to go to new york soon so i better finish it off.

  • Green Flannel

LeBron has won MVP, i’m not a cav fan but especially after reading the article on lbj after the game that swept the lakers, it is clear that the basketball world will be so biased as to just decide the winner 45 games in the season. even though you have won four championships three all star mvps and a final’s mvp, killer instinct and 3 buzzer beaters in 29 days ya only got one mvp sorr kobes.. guess the guy who has none of that is more valuable!!

    • Karl

F lbj!! I hate him and all the media that bow down to him. He is a fricking POS!!!

      • Green Flannel

No doubt but I was just givin you guys a heads up so your hopes aren’t let down

      • trevors_voodooDoll

yep, nba.com had an article already declaring lebron the mvp winner, but thats alright finals MVP means more!!

    • AllthewayLA

doesnt matter. as long as we get the ring. im sure thats whats kobe’s thinking.

    • AllthewayLA

And think about it. we swept the cavs last year, but who won the mvp?

      • Green Flannel

ecxactly! no one gets that even if the lakers sweep the entire eastern conference they will still bring up some random stat that they can use for lebron to win and so they can sleep easy.

  • Karl

What’s up with the Bynum/another loser player, for Lopez/Harris of the nets?

Bynum is crap and so is most of the Laker bench.

David Lee was awesome…he plays hard every possession.

Come on Mitch – get us freaking players that really want to win with Kobe. Play hard every game. Hustle down the court for your million dollar salaries. Rebound and box out you sissies!!!

  • berkyberks

who said kobe is faking his injury as you can see the replay of the lay-up that is supposed to be a jam.he barely loose the ball co’z he cannot grip.he’s a true warrior!

  • http://TheLakersNation laffs atu

well lebron won, that means hes gonna come home tired and i have to start on him. hes gonna flop it out and its gonna be all juicy and sweaty, the way i like it.
im gonna put it in my mouth and its gonna feel so good because thats what i do, im his bitch and i even have a little fetish costume i put on for his pleasure, he likes it. he calls me a bitch and spits at me when im suckin it. it tastes so good.. mmmmmm……
ooohhh, there he is now, he just came back from the game, gotta go laker fans, i have to go start. its gonna feel good and im gonna feel sore in the morning.
