Lakers Bulls BasketballThe Lakers finally took care of business on the road with a win in Chicago Tuesday night.

The box score may make it seem like the Lakers won this easily, but the game was a battle to the end. It was the Lakers strong defense in the fourth that made the difference, holding the Bulls to only 14 points in the final quarter.

The Laker offense tonight mostly came from Kobe who had about 4 times as many points as the next highest Laker scorer. They only shot 46% from the field and 20% from three point land, but really made up for it with great rotations on defense. They got their hand on a lot of passes with 9 steals and held the Bulls to under 40% from the field.

It’s amazing that the Lakers were able to pull this one off on the road considering the Bulls had 14 more boards and 22 offensive rebounds tonight!

With Pau, Bynum and Odom down low, the Lakers need to do a better job of securing boards.

Now, the bests of the day…

Top 3 Laker Performers

1) Kobe had one of his bests of the year with 42 points on 26 shots shooting wise, but he did have 8 turnovers!

2) Shannon Brown had 9 points and didn’t miss a shot. Also had a steal and a block and really did everything we needed.

3) Odom finally had a decent game. 9 points, 8 boards and 3 assists of the bench.

Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): Bynum only had 3 boards. Noah had 20.

Play of the Night: Pau’s reverse dunk on the break.

What to Look for Next Game: Lakers fly up to Milwaukee Wednesday night to battle the Bucks in a back to back. Should be a low scoring game.

Ticket Info: Next home game is Tuesday night vs. the Thunder and there are very few tickets left… if you need any games in December or January buy quickly, because they are flying! E-Mail me at Steve@AveryTickets.com or call 213-221-7681 for info on how to lock these tickets up today!

WOW…. ‘You’ should not be capitalized… ‘shoud’ is misspelled…. “a article’ should be ‘an article’ but in reality it should say ‘articles’… the whole thing is a fragment… Keep up the good work!

    Good game.
    Let’s keep rolling.

  • The Mamba24

Where are the people that were calling for Kobe not to play and rest his finger?

    • lakerman1

Hiding’ waiting for his next injury. Kobe is a very skilled player can Lebaby play with his left hand. Kobe is a one of a kind player who we may never see again in our lifetime. Now lets not hear any allegations of his Dr prescribing HGH to his patients. LOL

    • TOUCHING_MYSELF

Right here. You’ve gotta give people time to come onto to the site and read the comments before responding. Obviously if Kobe continues to put up these numbers and THEY WIN, no ones complaining (except for the 8 turnovers, but we all can live with that because of the win). It’s because he DIDN’T put up these numbers that’s why some of us thought that HE should have shut it down and rested. That would’ve been a great opportunity for the rest of the team to play through this adversity. It could’ve been a great learning and game experience for them to play in a hostile environment in case Kobe is not available in the future.

Kobe is Kobe, he’s the ultimate competitor. He’s always out to prove people wrong. Sometimes he can prove himself wrong which was the case Sat night against Utah. Of course, Kobe being Kobe, was able to come back last night and proved to everyone that he can still play despite a bad digit.

Live by the sword, die by the sword. That’s how you guys see it. I’m just saying that there’s time for everything. There are times when we’re gonna need for Kobe to chuck up 35 shots a night, but there are nights that he should rein it in. When he goes 7 for 24, 1 for 9 in 3s, and only gets to the line once, yeah, as the leader of that Lakers team, I would like to see him being poised and mature enough to call it a night and admitting that he didn’t have it as opposed to him with the mentality that he’s gonna save the day.

He had it last night and I’m sure he’ll be fine tonight as well. That’s the thing that we see from Kobe. He’s got 1 bad game from an injury or an illness, then when he rights the ship, the subsequent games will probably follow suit. I expect him to have a good game and setting the tone early.

Just to be clear, I never said for him to not try to play. I just would like for him to recognize when he doesn’t have it and call it a night so that his teammates can have an opportunity to play through!

      GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lakers should of have lost. My Celts did not have any problems with the Bulls. We blew them out by 28. Go Boston!!!

    • http://LakersNation Marwan..

Either this is short dog, because he hasnt been here for ages or its smartkobe/stupidkobe. Just get off the site haters.

  • Anthony

I think they could have been better as a team. Everyone looked to be out there on their own. Kobe was amazing tonight, but I think the team does better when he’s more of a facilitator. Yes, shoot because you’re absolutely the best in the game, but pass more too and get everyone else going.

And Gasol needs to get the ball more. He usually makes a great pass or gets up a good look. Towards the end he started forcing stuff up, but for the most part he’s wise with the ball.

  • Kid Kaos 310

To all the fans that were upset with Kobe’s performance Monday night voting that he needs to sit down and not take so many shots; please take your foot out of our mouths now.
How do you doubt the best player in the league abilities or will? It baffles me.

    • 007

Why do we have to take our feet out of our mouths? He did have a bad game @ Utah and definitely should’ve sat out. I, for one, was not saying he should rest for 4 weeks so his finger could heal, I thought he should rest for the Utah game because he was horribly sick with the flu (blatantly obvious during the game + he needed IV fluids) and tired from traveling to Utah. There was a myriad of thing wrong with Kobe that night and he should’ve sat out that night which his game showed. No one is denying Kobe’s heart because he is the heart & soul of the team so we will need him through June. Some people are just Kobe homers and will argue that Kobe should’ve played because he’s a beast and plays through anything and everything. Sorry, but Kobe’s only human and needs his strength for the entire season. I think his finger will be fine because he can adjust to anything, but sickness takes over the entire body.

      • TOUCHING_MYSELF

Yo Bond Man, to some, Kobe’s sh!t just don’t stank and that about sums it up. You can try to reason, but they ain’t gonna hear it. You can be OBJECTIVE and still stay a Kobe fan, but not to them. You’ve gotta either love everything he does or hate it… only black or white, no greys. It’s a very idealistic view, but sadly it’s not LIFE’s not built on fairy tales!
