Merry Christmas to the entire Lakers Nation, this writer hopes that it is a safe and memorable holiday for everyone.

The Los Angeles Lakers proud possessors of the NBA’s best record and still improving are hosting the (22-8) Cleveland Cavaliers. The ascending Lakers are doing it with defense. They’re allowing 95 points, pulling down 45 rebounds per game and shutting teams down on a nightly basis.

Repeating as a Champion is tough to do, but one of the best things to see was that the Lakers didn’t stand pat and decided not to make any improvements after winning it all.

The improved defense was a key ingredient in the Lakers winning a championship last year, as well as putting them in position for a repeat performance. The addition of Ron Artest has been key to the improvement.

The Lakers have improved their perimeter defense by limiting their aggressiveness, unlike last year when they were vulnerable to open three point shots particularly on the weak side of the floor Now the Lakers are better job on rotating, which is making life difficult for opposing shooters.

A much anticipated marquee match up between the leagues two best players will be must see TV. This is the 11th straight year that we’ll see the Lakers play on Christmas Day. Last year the Purple and Gold used the game as a measuring stick and issued the first of two beat downs to the Celtics. However, the Cavaliers are putting much more emphasis on this game using it as a measuring stick compared to the Lakers.

The Lakers beat the Cavaliers twice last year, the headliners Kobe & Lebron didn’t disappoint, Kobe Bryant averaged 21.5 points and Lebron James averaged 18 points in their head to head match up, but the difference maker was clearly Pau Gasol doing damage inside. Pau Gasol posted a combined 40 points and 25 rebounds. This comes as no surprise because since his return the Los Angeles Lakers have dominated.

Cleveland feels that they’re a Championship team and they want to send a message to the Lakers, but the message will be sent back labeled ‘return to sender’.

The match up to watch will be between Lebron and Ron Artest. Although Lebron will defend Kobe more than Bryant defends him.

The Lakers will start their attack on the inside by establishing the combination of Pau Gasol & Andrew Bynum. Both players need to be aggressive and attack the rim, this tactic should be beneficial to the Lakers and get the visitors in foul trouble. The power, speed and size of Lebron will be on display and it is safe to say that he will be a factor in this game.

Make no mistake the Cavaliers are a contender and this contest will be competitive.

You can expect Shaq to play major minutes in this game. However, the Laker’s size, length, athleticism, versatility and execution down the stretch as well as being led by the leagues best player will be too much to overcome and you can consider the Cavaliers another team that will be bitten once or twice by the Black Mamba.

The Black Mamba’s venom is very potent and is known to cause systematic paralysis in the fourth quarter.

Check out this hilarious quote from Ron:

“Im one of the best defenders in the league, you know?” Who told you that? “Me”, Artest replied.

    Lakers baby.

  • http://57.amklac Marwan the tard

you know what would really be hilarious;if KOBEMAMBA tries to defense LEBRON…everyone lights up the rat.

    • http://LakersNation Marwan..

      “tries to defense LEBRON”

Grammar fail. Wow, you are a tard.

  • some guy

The officiating in this game is pathetic. I’m not even going to be upset if we lose the game. I’m upset that they absolutely refuse to call any foul the Cavs commit against Kobe. I don’t even know if I can count on both hands how many blatantly obvious fouls they’ve refused to call. And then when they foul Kobe and they call a foul on Kobe, it just makes me believe what Donaghy said about refs having biases against certain players.

    • mycke24

yeah you’re right…refs are one bias and they want lebron to win it…

      • Eidraq

        i agree

  • http://57.amklac Marwan the tard

really? really? really?…the officials?….that take is about as weak and hollow as the kobe game today……lakers are looking good!

    • http://LakersNation Marwan..

I think “laffs atu’s” mom slept with the refs today, or was it David Stern’s saggy old… in the back yard?

    • Ladunce Odumb

What is with all of these lame comments from MORON THE RETARD?

Keep them coming! They are so stuipd they are laughable!

  • drive-for-16th

Fuk the fags who are talkin shit, this game has one word to describe it “Rigged.” This was a Bullshit game Every time we make a run the officials call bullshit fouls. Kobe got fouled hard a million times but no, the refs call ticky tic fouls when lebron or any cavalier goes to the basket.

    • http://LakersNation Marwan..

      +100000000000000000

    • http://LakersNation Marwan..

At the end, Lebron drove in and1, and Shannon didnt touch him. Shannon drives in, charge. Why didnt they call charges our way when Kobe and Artest hit the floor cause of Lebron.

  • drive-for-16th

Im happy for the fans who were throwing shit on the court if they were throwing at the refs.

    • http://LakersNation Marwan..

I would be, they were F’n hammered and no fouls. I counted at least 2 charges on Lebron, one with Kobe, and one with Artest. WTF, BLOCKING FOULS?!?!?!?!
Even Staples refs are taken into this ‘ish

    • chillout

yeah it’s all the refs fault that caused you to lose by 15. sure whatever

  • Rollin

23>24 this time around….Bummer. Team looked slow and out hustled today. Was obvious Cavs wanted to show us up today. Really exposes our bench and slump they have basically been in all this season. Binum didn’t do much against Shaq either. What’s up with all the dunks!! To much whinning on no calls. Players T’d and ejected!!! Fans got stupid throwing stuff….embarassing to say the least. Lost their composure and never got it back.

Lakers runnings in Xmas games have not been so good. Oh well it’s just one game……NEXT!!

  • http://57.amklac Marwan the tard

    thank you santa!!!

    • Marwan

For the anal… wow, you have problems dude.

  • drive-for-16th

HONESTLY IM SAYIN IT TODAY, “FUCK OUR BENCH,” No production wat so ever, Odom a no show, Farmar a no show, Don’t have anything to say about Vujabrick, Ron Artest played with Heart, Kobe never gave up, Pau missing easy baskets getting fouled but no fucking calls. That last play when Kobe got pushed by Lebron, WTTTTFFFFFFFFFFFFF WAS THAT, A FUCKING CHARGE!!!!!!!!!
IM PRETTY SURE DAVID STERN IS ENJOYING HIS TURKEY RIGHT NOW!!!
They should’ve started a fight i’m not even joking shit was getting heated up, FOR ALL THE FANS THROWING SHIT ON THE COURT, I’M PROUD OF YA’LL, THERE IS NOT ANYTHING ELSE TO SAY, WRECKED MY FUCKING CHRISTMAS!!! FUCK THE HATERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Marwan

The fans shouldve ran on the court and mobbed the refs. Seriously, those guys suck. They had a strike cause they werent being paid enough and David Stern paid these losers. Those asses man, gimme one day as a Staples ref. Wow, they were LA refs and they gave Lebron a career high 2 fouls, yet they called 100000 on Lakers. How can they give in to Lebron.

      • Brian Shaw

        just chill man
the refs didnt shoot 36% from the field or make 14 turnovers. sure they were inconsistent and made bad calls but that isnt the reason why we lost. And the fans throwing the foam fingers onto the court is a classless showing on national tv. you shouldnt be condoning that at all.

  • chillout

    wow you have problems

  • Brian Shaw

laker bench got destroyed today by the cavs
mo williams and jamario moon killed us today
the cavs simply wanted to win the game more
we gave a shitty effort early on and got run out of the house quickly
and shame on the fans for booing and throwing stuff onto the court
    no excuses for that….

    • 007

+1. this game totally exposed our stench situation. 31-17 in bench points. j. moon almost outscored our entire bench. and im pretty sure we only had 2 bench points at the half so the bench got 15 pts in garbage time. gimme a break

  • drive-for-16th

I’m just worried this is really gonna bite us in the ass after words, like how long can the starters keep this up and play heavy minutes, Tell me that, we need to get rid of vujacic and farmar, tell me if there is a point in keeping them on the team. We need to understand that elite teams will the hell out of us especially because we are the champs. Our bench doesn’t understand that, they are so sloppy, Where is our bench that was the best bench in the NBA 2 years ago?????????

    • Brian Shaw

i heard of a trade on blog a bull where we could send famar, vujacic, and morrison to chicago for tyrus thomas and kirk hinrich. the chances of it seem slim but if i were mitch id go for it. our bench needs a serious lift. they are getting lapped almost every game.

    • 007

seriously. how do we go from having the best bench in the nba to the stench the next year? and still having the stench around this season as well…

  • roscoe

i think it’s a disadvantage to be home team on christmas…

    • Eidraq

it’s a disadvantage to not be named lebron

      kb carried the team today

mo williams outplayed pau, bynum and lo

cannot let that happen again in January

      kb still > lbj

      the math is simple:

      24>23

      • B Holland

Well he wasn’t according to the NBA last year. Glad you know your math. My little niece and you could study together.

  • 09champs!

We’re not getting kirk for farm/sash/adam, so dont even discuss it please, its ridiculous.
Frustrating game from the start. The refs really took us out of the game, and 36% wasnt helpful either.
Anyone knows if drew and pau ever got to the arena? Cause i dont think i saw them. Lets get SAC tomorrow it was only 1 game anyway.

  • LakersGal

    This sucked

  • LakersGal

I am so angry that i don’t even know what i want to say.

  • BE_A_LakerFan

What a bad effort by the Lakers tonight. Only 1 game though.

    Go Lakers!

  • drive-for-16th

Fuck the NBA for rigging games!!!!

    • chillout

So the NBA rigs all games??? Does this mean the 15 titles by the Lakers were all rigged???

  • LA HATER

Does Kobe think he gets fouled on every shot? Pau is soft as baby doo and Bynum is like Randy moss. Get in his ass the first 4 minutes and he will quit. Odom is a head case, trying to intimidate when he got his ass kicked by a guy with curls in his hair. Lakers are soft as twinkies.
