TLN’s Finals Report: Lakers @ Magic [Game 5]

fisherWe did it! The Los Angeles Lakers secured their 15th NBA Championship tonight in Orlando!

After a Playoffs full of ups and downs, the Lakers finally put together back to back wins on the road.

Kobe, the 2009 NBA Finals MVP played his best game of the playoffs. He was a true leader tonight and every Laker followed (except maybe Sasha).

The Lakers opened the game by pounding the ball inside with Bynum attempting a quick 11 shots and only connecting on 3 of them. The Lakers then turned to their outside game and hit 8 of 16 threes and put the clamps on Orlando with a 16-0 run, seemingly unheard of in an NBA Finals.

The Lakers held Orlando to 8 of 27 from three and outrebounded the Magic 47 to 36 with 13 offensive rebounds. The Lakers also kept the game clean with 9 turnovers (not counting the 24 second violation with 3 seconds in the game).

I’ll keep the rest short so we can continue to celebrate! See you all at the parade this week!

Now, the bests of the day…

Top 3 Laker Performers -

1) Kobe. 30 points, 6 boards, 5 assists, 2 steals, 4 blocks, and only 1 turnover. WOW!

2) Trevor Threeza did it again hitting two HUGE threes to blow this game open in the second quarter. He finished with 15 points and 2 steals and held Hedo to only 12 points tonight.

3/4) Pau and Lamar really did everything they needed to tonight. Pau had 14 points and 15 boards with 4 blocks. Lamar also had a double-double with 17 and 10 tonight. Great game from our bigs!

Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): Sasha went scoreless over 5 games. Poor guy…

Play of the Night: Luke’s oop to Ariza.
