finalsg3

gasolGuess we can’t win them all.

The Lakers blew a chance to all but lock in another title tonight with their four point loss in Orlando Tuesday night.

The Magic offense finally heated up as they shot 63% for the game, which is pretty unheard of the Finals. The Lakers themselves shot 51%, but they couldn’t hit any freethrows tonight. 10 misses from the stripe in a Finals game will not get it done.

Five Lakers scored double figures but it just seemed as if Orlando played a much more crisp game.

The Lakers don’t need to panic as they still hold a 2-1 series lead.

Now, the bests of the day…

Top 3 Laker Performers

1) Pau played superb. 23 points on 9-11 shooting with 2 blocks.

2) Ariza did many of the little things today. He had 13 points and 7 boards with 2 steals.

3) Kobe put up a lot of points and had 8 assists, but his freethrow shooting and turnovers killed us. Kobe also shouldn’t hoist up 9 threes.

Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): Bynum needs to step up and get a double double already!

Play of the Night: Probably Luke’s give and go with Lamar early in the game.

What to Look for Next Game: A similar game with a different result.

Ticket Info: Game 6 tickets are on sale with full refunds. Might this be the closeout game? Email Steve@AveryTickets.com for info on how to lock these tickets up today!

Go Lakers!

It’s alright we just need to remain focused and go get game 4 and we’ll be in great shape. they shot 65 percent and we almost won… GO LAKERS!!!!

  • Kobeftw

Even though we lost tonight, I feel that Lakers did great for a Game 3. The way Lakers played today, I have no doubt that the will win Game 4.

  • ed

you know Joey Crawford ref is a piece of Sh*t! He always seems to be the ref that doesn’t make the obvious calls or makes phantom calls, I don’t ever want to see that piece of sh*t ref one of our games again.

  • sketch

So close… Orlando shot great tonight and still our boys had a chance to pull that one out! What are the chances that Kobe would miss 3 critical free throws during the waning moments when the game’s on the line?
We saw how effective LO could be for us in the low blocks. We went to that a little late in the 4th, but at least we found something else that works.
Orlando is not going to play this well again and Kobe’s definitely not shooting free throws this poorly again! The next game belongs to the Lakers fo sho!

    GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • imfasterthanur

    sigh..

Short term memory fellas’. Bring on Game 4

  • dracul

Pietrus and Rafer Alson overachieved, their entire team shot 800%, yet they only won by 2 points. the last 2 free throws were garbage.

I dont see their entire team plus reserves shooting lights out all in the same game again. Lakers played them well.

They should go back to a more normal shooting percentage next game, especially if we keep making them take defended long jumpers.

I was expecting a Magic blow out this game, but it looks like the Lakers played them tough.

The Magic played their best game, Lakers need to keep their non-primary players from having an impact on the game. Holding Howard to less scoring couldn’t hurt either. At least the Magic got their emotional and lights out game out of the way.

    GO LAKERS!!

    -Dracul

  • Cookie Monster

I thought the Lakers defense wasn’t horrendous. Orlando just made some great shots, and that was expected. Their first finals game at home, the crowd behind them. I expect our Lakers to bounce back and grab game 4. Lets GO!

  • 007

refs sucked tonight but the reason for the loss was *sigh* our superstars: Kobe and Pau. Missed freethrows and turnovers during the closing minutes of the 4th killed us. We could’ve came away with the win even though it seemed like the Magic shot 99% for the game and had ALL calls going their way. no way they have another game like that shooting lights out! on to game 4! our guys are ready! none of this inconsistent crap anymore, yay! good thing i expected this loss. i expect a close out in game 6 in front of our home crowd which means i expect another loss. but mostly only because i have tickets to game 6! i want to see them hoist the trophy in person!

  • kevin 0

WOW LAKERS PLAY SOLID BUT NOT EXCELLENT COMPARED TO MAGICS PERFOMANCE!
    AND WE LOSE BY 4?
    ANYWAYS LAKERS IN 5

you know. today while watching the game, i saw how nice of an arena the Magic play in. its a fine place. but there was one thing missing, there were no championship banners. and they’re not gonna get one until they steal one from us.

  • YellowPurpleFever

To All Magic fans get off our site!!!
Few Mental mistakes in the last 1 min.
Kobe BIG turn over, missed lots of FT.
    Pau did NOT call timeout.
Seems like Kobe did not want to Win tonight.
    Refs were so so .
They are not gonna shoot 63% again, hope not.
I like the way Famar play tonight. Keep it up.
    Go Lakers!

  • Sopi

shooting 63% in a game and only win by 2???
its over…..how can magic compete with the great lakers
kobe let this one down, too bad he missed freethrow, jump shot and turned over in late 4th quarter. kind of disappointed with kobe’s performace in late ball game

  • iamthetie

I dunno, but if you’re LA you have to feel good even though you lost. Orlando could not have played a better game. If their best can only squeeze out a narrow victory, then they still have issues they need to fix.

The way the Lakers are competing inspire confidence, even if they don’t get the victory every night.

  • Robert

Lakers could have lost Sunday’s game, but won. They could have won Tuesday’s game, but lost. It all balances out.

But mostly, I believe this was Phil and Kobe’s strategy (not to lose, but to ‘try’ something different). To Phil, it’s like boxing. Phil wanted to see how the Magic would play, with the Lakers hoisting up more 3s and less paint than the previous 2 games.

Proof? Phil was smiling (possibly even smirking) the whole game. I believe I saw Kobe’s scowl only once. Kobe was joking at the press conference. He was acting like “oh well” – not like “damn, we lost this one – I want it REEEEEALLLLY bad – I’m pissed”. LO said, “oh well, next game” and “where’s my Reese’s pieces”. It’s all cool.

  • Lakezilla

No worries. This series feels like the Utah series. You can clearly see the Lakers are the better team. In the Utah series, Lakers won the first 2 and in game 3 the Lakers played ok and the Jazz played their best game and barely won by 3. Lakers came out, took the next 2 games and closed it out. Orlando shot 63% for the game and 75% in the first half and barely pulled it out. If I was a Magic fan, I would be very worried right now. Despite all that we were still tied and really should’ve been ahead if it weren’t for missed freethrows.

I’m not going to bash Kobe like some people are doing. We wouldn’t be in this position if it wasn’t for him. Could he have played better down the stretch? Of course but he’s human and makes mistakes. When you’re the star, you take the glory when it goes good and the crap when it hits the fan so I’m sure nobody is being harder on him right now than himself. He’ll bounce back.

    Go Lakers!!!

  • roro

even though we lost this game; I think we still had a chance to win the game. I honestly think in game four we should establish Gasol first because he being guarded by rashard lewis. Once they establish that i think then kobe can take over the game. I think i rather have kobe do his damage late in games rather than earlier because gasol was efficient. Oh and i dont think phil jackson trusts sasha anymore and maybe thats the reason kobe could be tired. This is not a series until its tied 2-2.

  • bassti

I think the Lakers needed that. They need to be proven, that they stil can lose. But I don’t like that we lost it on the Free Throws. That were can win games… There’s nothing dificault about shooting them. It’s just about confidence, pure will and basic techniques.

  • Dwight Howard

    Wow…what happened?

    Tsk, tsk, tsk…missed free throws.

    Tsk, tsk, tsk…last minute turnovers.

Tsk, tsk, tsk…Magic Men take game 3.

Keep your eyes pealed sketch. This is history in the making.

  • king.manu

kobe tried to do too much…but i think we are just fine
they won´t shoot 60% next game. i think we are still a better team, but kobe has to go back to the team mode

  • Josh in D 310

Fcuk Orlando and Fcuk Disney world b*tchez..Lakers come back and win Game 4, we Lose Game five but only to close it out here at home for game 6 or 7! Sorry Orlando but maybe next decade you’ll get your trophy. Fcuk all of Florida and those bandwagon Gator fans!

  • PGMVP

Orlando was just shooting like crazy tonight, we almost had the game. I´m pretty sure will be ready for game 4 and expect a win for us on Thursday.

  • Rich

Kobe got tired, and did anybody notice Shannon didn’t even play. They’ll win the next one.

  • JR

It’s alright Lakers. The Magic had to shoot their heart out in order to win just by 4! Add up 5 missed FT’s from Kobe, the big turnover in the last 30 seconds, Lakers getting that rebound that Pietrus just dunked in….and we get a definite win.

  • Kobe

I told ya’ll Pietrus was the Kobe stoppper. Laker fans always blame the refs whenever they lose. Did the refs make Kobe miss five free throws? Did the refs make the Lakers miss all of those threes at the end? Stop blaming the officiating! You guys lost and will continue to lose the next two games. Go Magic!!!!!

  • gugy

    Much better comments today.
Last night after the game TLN Live was just full of bandwagon fans. It was just plain annoying.

Yes, the Magic won with a historic shooting percentage and they just really won by 2 points and Kobe turnover and missed free throws at the crucial time of the game. Chances that to happen again? ZERO!

We should be feeling very confident. Our team just proved last night we are better than Orlando. We played a good game and we just did not efficiently closed the game.

Lakers has not lost a back to back games this playoffs, so I expect a win next game. Kobe will be sharp to close it and PJ will make the adjustments.

    Go Lakers!

  • lakerman1

Why would someone call themselves Kobe & be an Orlando fan. You have some serious issues dude.

  • pio2u

We took their best blow & barely lost. We will pick it up defensively next game & the “Mamba” will carry us home. To sum it up: Lakers in 6. See you Thursday!!

  • barcalakerfan4life

im a laker fan but kobe blew game 3 for us and when is sasha vujabrick gonna hit some shots?? hes getting way too much money for not doing anything.

  • Al The Laker fan you should meet

Thursday is Game 4. Are you serious Magic fans..or I mean Laker Haters. It amuses me how all of these people who waste there time coming on to this Laker fan website to talk shit about the Lakers. Boy I don’t even know the Orlando Blog website where all of there fans meet up but I sure could care less going on there and talking sh!t but hey I guess I’m not as petty. But to game 3 hey its all about making adjustments from game to game and now its the Lakers turn to adjust what the Magic are doing….Will they shoot 75% in the first half? will they shoot 63% for the game? Ummmm I dont really think so. But the Lakers need to adjust to how they are playing the pick and roll. I agree Phil doesn’t trust Sasha so much and you can see it through with the coaching staff it was almost comical how he missed his jumper and came around and picked up a silly quick foul. I saw Phil, Rambis laughing on the sideline. The main thing is the Lakers need to control tempo and close this game out like they should have done last night clean up and be more focused on the free throw line and I’m sure we don’t have to spend time talking about that becuz these players are professionals and know what has to be done. Lakers in 5 games is still my prediction you have to hand it to the Magic they won last night by doing what had to be done play a near flawless game. GO Lakers!!!! We are the better team how do I know this the whole crowd in Orlando were F3ckin nervous down the stretch in game 3 you think they dont know whats coming in the back of there mind…Once again Go Lakers!!!!

  • SashaSucks

Boy is this kid going to make a basket on these finals?

I think nobody at the Lakers organization believes on him anymore. I guess Sasha got the money and decide to retire. Too bad, I thought the kid had talent and heart. Guess I was wrong.
When sign Ariza, be careful. It seems every time the Lakers give those scrubs a good contract, they disappear. (Luke, Sasha anyone?)

  • daboss1848

    u guys r funny!!!

    after game 3 the focus is . . . . Sasha?!?!

dude played 3 minutes!!!! (missed a shot, and got pulled)

[Comment ID #75218 Will Be Quoted Here]

I was thinking the exact thing last night. Talk about a company man huh! I couldn’t quite point my finger which team he wanted to win. Earlier the game he was siding with the Magic so I figured he’s rEFFIN for a game 7. Of course that got me boiled up. Then later in the game when orlando got the momentum, he called bogusly for the lakers. I didnt want the lakers to win like that! I just know his calls were so shady, it took away a lot from the game.

  • Al The Laker fan you should meet

People complain that The Laker fans whine about the Refs when we lose..Well Duh are you watching this B#LLSH!t …..Im not saying be perfect but come on get the fundemental calls correct….Pietrus literally picked the ball up and transfered it into his other hand with the ref standing right there and continued his dribble …Look all laker love aside this is the WORST officiated Playoffs ever! I have never seen refs just blow str8 calls. Say what you want but a blown call is a blown call.

  • SashaSucks

[Comment ID #75263 Will Be Quoted Here]

Is not that the focus is on Sasha, It is just a complaint about this kid inability to help the team.

  • Al The Laker fan you should meet

Sasha Sucks- Well for one Luke is Luke and is game isnt going to change so calling Luke a scrub is incorrect.

  • sketch

    Hey Dwight,

We all saw history in the making… Orlando finally wins 1 game in the NBA Finals! Congrats, this Orlando did somethin that the big fat SNAQ team couldn’t do: 1 game! Yet, our boys still pulled it out! I’ll let you enjoy today, ’cause after Thursday night, you won’t feel so good about where your team is at! Hahaha!

    GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • imfasterthanur

[Comment ID #75266 Will Be Quoted Here]

At this point, considering his minutes are so limited, we might as well throw Adam Morisson or Sun Yue in at the back-up two-position. Sasha has done absolutely nothing ever since he got his contract last year.

  • LifeLongLakerFan

Man you have a real easy tone about last nights game.. What to expect…similar game with different results?? HUH? We better hope not because if they shoot 63% again we lose again.

  • iamthetie

i just realized dick bavetta hasn’t reffed a game in the finals yet so he’s probably gonna be one in game 4. crap!

Just gotta stay positive man! Look it, Kobe won’t jack up all them 3s again and he’s not gonna miss 5 freebies again the next game. This was the worst D the Lakers played in this series so far and they’ll tighten it up. Even with the Magic shooting 63%, our boys still had the game. Bottom line is, if both of the teams play up to their potential… advantage Lakers!

    GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This message is for Kobe my hero and the greatest basketball player ever in the history of the NBA (other than Magic Johnson).

Kobe you need to get some contact lenses so you can see the basket! My good friend I hope you read this and take action! For the first time I saw you last night on tv squinting to see the freaking basket!

You are the greatest Kobe! It’s no big deal! Get your vison checked and you will be amazed! I am not a doctor but I can sure see when someone squints to see!

We love you Kobe and we want you to get at least 8 rings (hopefully Lakers won’t bring back Hory)! Lakers are just getting started and you are the key to getting a ring for at least 4 more years!

Take care of business Lakers and we love you Kobe!

Lakers will take the next 2 games!

  • magicfan4lifesuckers!!!lulz

  • Touch ME

Did I warn you Lake fans or did I warn. We got beat down, Kobe choked just like the last two finals. They showed how sad we were on the Defense. Now Orlando can easily go up 3-2 knowing that the Lakers have lost 7 straight road games in finals play. If anyone hear has the nerve to say the Lakers will win game 4 needs to put a sock in it and stop underestimating them. Do you all remember Game 4 of last years Finals ?

I say this being a Lakers fan and speak on behalf of all Lakers fans. Have you all come to relize that after tonight the Lakers can’t win a road game in the Finals and Orlando has won 5 straight home game 1 vs C’s, 3 vs Cavs, and 1 vs LA. If any of you say that the Lakers will win game 4 knowing that everything is on the line for the Magic need to watch last years game 4 finals and relize facts.

I say this because I care and to discipline all of you from the lessons of last season when you all got overconfident. Want to keep disrespecting Van Gundy go ahead because now he’s got the formula to put LA away.

  • TOUCHING_MYSELF

I’m a little dissapointed that kobe didnt take accountability of his errors at the end of the game. He blamed it on defense which is true because our rotation again is a step late and not as good as game 1. But he missed some crucial free throws and careless turnovers at the end, which cost them the game. COme on guys, make some fu$%&^…… free throws, missing ten is way too much specially if it’s going to be a closed game where every point matters.

I am not gonna sit here and tell you what you wanna hear, if you want me to do that I’ll bring you all a teddy bear before you sleep tonight.

Now I speak on behalf of all Laker fans because they don’t know anything. You all are the same ppl who thought the Lakers were gonna win it last year and know you all are sayin game 4 is in the bag. How much more need I to discipline Laker fans in being overconfident and when the Lakers lose game 4 knowing orlandos season is on the line don’t run. Now on behalf of all Laker fans official word is that we don’t have the title won, Orlando is a worthy opponent with a great coach. Game 4 is not in the bag. The Lakers will have a difficult game knowing the fatigue Kobe has and Orlando makin 63% of their shots.

For my own personal prediction Orlando wins game 4 as much as it burns me to for the above^^^ reasoning.

fIRST OF ALL YOU HAVE TO GIVE CREDIT TO THE MAGIC. THAT IS WHERE IT ENDS. ONCE AGAIN THE ONLY WAY THE LAKERS CAN NOT WIN IS BECAUSE OF THE REFS. THEY BLEW CALLS LATE IN THE GAME. THEY CALL ONE THING ON 1 END AND NOT ON THE OTHER. THEY DID NOT CALL 3 SECONDS AT ALL ON DWIGHT HOWARD. THE TRIANGLE IS A OFFENSE THAT INVOLVES MOVEMENT. THE MAGIC OFFENSE IS POST N DISH TO SHOOTERS I DONT KNOW HOW HOWARD CAN POST A TENT UP IN THE LANE LIKE THAT. I KNOW GASOL IS NOT AS TOUGH AS THEY COME, BUT COME ON THEY SHOULD NOT ALLOW DWIGHT TO MAN HANDLE HIM LIKE THAT. CHEAP SHOTS TO THE CHEST AND ELBOWS. AT LEAST 45% OF HIS MOVES ARE LOWERING HIS SHOULDER. HOW ABOUT THE CHARGES REFS. dWIGHT ON LO for example. I KNOW THEY SAY HOMECOURT GIVES YOU AN ADVANTAGE BUT COME ON MAKES SOME RIGHT CALLS. STOP LISTENING TO THE CROWD.

  • http://www.bpdesignlab.com/blog BP Design Lab

Yes, the Lakers certainly blew the game; however, it is nice to know that you can stay close to a team that shoots 63% (many of them 3’s) from the field. If Kobe shoots his usual 80-90% from the Free Throw line, we would be talking about an eminent sweep…

    Lakers in 6!

I’m gonna have to side with this guy on this one guys. I think many Laker fans are being way too cocky about us winning Game 4. You guys act like we are the defending champs and we can turn it on anytime on defense. The truth is that we havent won jack sh*t and we are NOT a good defensive team who can turn up the heat easily.

Game 4 is gonna be a struggle and now that the Magic got their confidence back, I can easily see them shooting hot again. Maybe not 62% but close to that, especially against a weak defensive team like us. I’m not trying to hate and i really hope we win but im just thinking from an unbiased point of view and respecting our opponent. GO LAKERS!!!

  • TOUCHING_MYSELF

Alright, alright… “let’s class it up” like Jim Rome would say. Let’s not turn this great blog site into some back alley ghetto brawl. Look we’re all just venting and having a little fun at one another’s expense and our respective teams, but let’s not take all this too far.

Of course I’m going to agree with LET THERE BE LIGHT, being a biased Lakers fan, I did see a lot of blown calls by the refs for the Lakers down the stretch. But that doesn’t take anything away from what Orlando did. They did what they had to to protect their home floor with a must win.

The Lakers need to play better D in game 4 and possibly get a few fair calls and they’ll be fine!

If they call one too many fouls on Dwight, they have to sit him down, then the Magic have no chance, unless they shoot 80% from 3s. The NBA office is quite aware of this, so in order to prevent it from becoming too one sided and have people tune out (meaning less ratings), they keep things ‘balanced’ by only calling offensive fouls on Howard unless its ‘safe’ to do so – meaning its the fourth quarter and he gets his 3rd, but they’ll basically ignore the other 18 that came before it.
