Just vent, Laker Nation. We’re listening…

  • Lakers can’t shoot

A bunch of bullcrap, that’s all I wanna say. I could careless about sugar coating excuses.

    • LakerMarc

Please stop with the bullcrap…its Bullshit!!!!!! We’re not in OKC…we’re Californians or atleast for some the team is a Californian team…we cuss!!!!

      • MECKA

Its ok guys everything gonna be ok. . just calm down. it aint the plays-offs yet. LMAO

        • LakersThe2010Champs

Lakers are done. Kobe is way overrated. Bynum is garbage. Fish has a rare good night, but can’t defend any guard. Phil is overrated too.

          • filosofreak

phil’s overrated? u better not celebrate a potential title win. cuz if u do, you’re a hypocrite.

        • blackswan

          i totally agree with you..
its one night.. one game.. they had a bad game.. and for goodness sakes its cleveland, who doesnt overlook them on a schedule ? gaaawsh.

      • Lakers can’t shoot

Gee willikers! Gosh darn it to heck with it all!

        • daboss1848

This is not the real Lakers can’t shoot.

          • daboss1848

            huh?

    • daboss1848

the lakers plan is to keep losing so we can be in the lottery. we have pau gasol so we should win the lottery. mexicans always win them.

      • daboss1848

be nice . . . (Pau is Spanish, meaning he is from a country named Spain – its in Europe, a different continent)

        • daboss1848

          Thats just a european mexican

    • johnny lerma

u all sound like a bunch of fucking bandwagon fans..snap out of it bitches,u and our lakers. remember its hollywood, part of the script, remember.quit acting like we aint seen this before.same ol been there done that.a trade wouldnt surprise me,but calm down.we’ve seen the best of the lakers..boston..and the worst..cleve. we go everyone right where we want them, when its time all will change ur tune,a 3peat WILL happen,no way we let the zen go out without….

      • daboss1848

False. We haven’t seen this before with the Lakers, hence all this reaction. Ask any of the regulars here, and they tell you they have never seen this kind of meltdown before. It can be proven both statistically on paper and by observation.

        • You Mamma

          Stfu Fake Hacker Boss

          • daboss1848

            thank you mamma!

  • Ikjyot Singh Kohli

Still don’t want to trade Bynum, Jim Buss?

    • HighSierraAce
      • roscoe

why would the wizards do that deal?

guys are overreacting to one loss. ZOMG, BYNUM SHOT 2/12 TRADE HIM!!!

    • FAKERS FOREVER!!!

Quote from Bill Plaschke (LA Times):
“With their current record, to win a third consecutive NBA championship, the Lakers face the real possibility of needing to win three playoff series without home-court advantage. Since Shaquille O’Neal left town, guess how many times they have won a playoff series without home-court advantage. None. Never happened.”

He is right on the money….here.

  • Lakeshow Lovr

Okay seriously this was just a embarassing loss. Now here is my opinion:
The Lakers need a trade! They really need to add some piece… I mean they lost the killer instinct they had last year. oh and don’t say, “oh this is just a minor thing, bump in the road, we don’t need a trade.”
Ummm yes we do! Whether you like it or not something has got to happen

    • jaydubb415

If we keep fucking waiting the knicks will get melo i know with out bynum we lose some of our size but our size doesn’t intemidate shit right now we have to start building for the future. We keep losing with bynum the nuggets will ask for more with him management has to swallow their fucking pride n give up bynum. And for the people who keep saying trade artest for what his contract n his play both suck right now.

      • HighSierraAce

Here’s a trade that will work, Bynum & charater to Denver for Carmelo & Lawson And Artest & Blake to Was

        • ilikebasketball

i like that cause it inclued lawson.
          a solid backup pg.

        • jaydubb415

You didn’t finish it all but i like lawson but i don’t think denver will give them up they would rather give chauncey billips lawson to young to give up n he shows promise.Next charater we should him i think he’s to young to give up n he shows promise unless they gave us nene which i think they would.

    • LakerMarc

There was no killer instinct last year..they won on pure talent and that wont always do it. They were plain better…but this year they aren’t as good and the team did get better but the players aren’t demonstrating that. Two years ago they had killer instinct ..last year they were a hot mess too!!!!

  • Trade Bynum

I had a feeling that they would lose tonight. They just plain suck. It’s time to make changes so let’s start by trading Bynum.

    • LakersThe2010Champs

      In fact, TRADE KOBE!

  • Ikjyot Singh Kohli

    I’ll revise my previous statement,

Trade Artest, Bynum, and especially Shannon Brown…..

    • jaydubb415

I know weve won 2 straight championship and then made it to the finals 3yrs in a roll, but look at the fucked up contracts and signings weve made.Starting of with walton fuck this dude has sat on the bench n fucking cashed check n won rings, next up vooyashit the ‘broken down machine.i know he’s gone but we fucking went after him in the offseson like he was ginobli n let this dude milk us for more money than he’s worth. Then theres shannon brown outside of ”high flying dunks”what has this dudevdone for us okay he worked on his 3 but thats spotty n incosistent plus his defense sucks to me,then theres artest don’t get me wrong he can be a beast on defense but i think the lakers went hard after him because he killed us in the playoffs when he was with houston now the back end of that contract along with his play has shackled us with him we couldn’t pay a team 2 take him.Next up blake W Thee Fuck was we thinking im sorry i live in portland so i know first hand how he sucks another incosistent shooter with horrible defense i mean really if were going to get somebody like him why not steve nash atleast his offense will make up for his lack of defense we don’t get either from blake in my opinion. Then theres fisher i know he can make big plays in the playoffs but his regular season is so fucking horrible he should be coming off the bench we didn’t even attempt to sign anyone to challenge him for his spot what he’s averaging 2 points a game WTF.Other than stealing pau laker management has made some fucking horrible decisions but the 2 championships has a way of covering up some fucked up moves by the front office otherGMs would have been fired by now if they haven’t won 2 champioships now were stuck with these fucking bums!!!!!!!!!!

    • ilikebasketball

      wrong

BLAKE AND ARTEST NEED TO GO.

      that’s it.

      all else is fine.

  • Double P

Kobe’s age is really starting to show. Once again he shoots his team out of the game. 8-24 that is complete garbage, if your shooting that poorly you still need to get that many shots up? Laker nation has WAY too many Kobe apologists

    • jaydubb415

Honestly no disrespect to kobe but i honestly feel like we could of won both of the last games against bobcats n cavs,he’s sick n looks tired why does phil keep playing him he’s shooting us out of the games.Plus 19 turnovers i want to wake up tomorrow hearing we picked up melo but we have to make sure he signs a extinsion before we trade 4 him.

  • TimD

This team blows. Im tired of hearing all this “they’ll be fine” “they’ll turn it on in may” shit. Its a new year and this team is simply not good enough right now. We definitely need a trade and youre an idiot if you don’t agree.

    • greenpuke

      I agree 100%

    • jaydubb415

If we do for melo doesn’t we have to make sure he signs a exstinsion with us or he can leave at the end of the season right ????

      • TimD

Its has to/going to be an extension otherwise were just giving away players. They wouldnt trade unless they could get an extension too.

        • Binky

I am sure Melo would sign an extention in LA.

      • Lakers can’t shoot

Agreed. Turn it on in may? No way.

Yeah, one excuses is like, “They were struggling last year too.” Yeah I know, but not this bad! You have to be able to see the difference between this year and the last.

I was upset when lost games to mediocre teams the past 3 years, but I knew they were still fine. It’s not like we can expect them to go 77-5 every championship year. This year’s losses are indicating much more problems than just a couple of routine losses.

        • LakerMarc

          been saying this

        • MrLALBeerBoy8819

just like what I am thinking.

        • jaydubb415

So we could get melo theo would be coming back or try and get camby from portland then 2012 pull off another shaq moveand get dwight howard, that would preserve kobes knees let melo kind of steer the boat but who do we get to coach all these ”’Egos”phil will be gon????

  • MeloMamba

come on man, i live in miami, so im gonna really hear about this one…..F%&%^&

  • Lebron is scared

I’m having a hard time figuring out how this is the same team that beat the Celtics a few days ago. Just when we thought the Lakers are finally pulling it together, they pull this bullcrap. They just don’t care about the regular season now.

    Fast-forward to June please.

    • jaydubb415

Fast foward to what we are the 2nd oldest team in the league so us fast fowarding to june are we going to get in the ” hot tub time machine”and come out younger no disrespect to phil but alot of his championships come from him front-running having home field advantage i don’t think this team from the 3rd spot can go on the road n defeat teams we just lost to ”clevelend”so kill that fast forwarding shit its getting old now just like this team.Make the trade for melo n start building for the future now if we end winning another championship after the trade well cool ”but this team right here”aint winning shit in june n it hurts for me to say that!!!!!

      • LakerMarc

Let’s consider making it to late April….cautious optimism.

    • LakerMarc

Fast forward to June and what? watch Miami or Boston against the dinosaur mongoloid …..SPURS!!!! Seriously those teams don’t even have the talent of the Lakers but this team is lazy and actually a bad example for sportsmanship and having a fighting spirit and champuionship attitude!!!!!

    • BossinCeltics

Having a hard time figuring out how Lakers beat the Celtics??? Easy. We only had 8 players in rotation due to injuries. Simple.

      • daboss1848

        u mean ur playoff rotation . . .

        • Alex

Umm, the Celtics’ playoff roster would have consisted of Marquis Daniels, Delonte West, Shaq, Jemaine O’neal… None of those guys played during the second game of the C’s vs Lake’s game.

Lakers looks like shit and I am actually happy to see the Celtics lose only by 6 points with half of their roster gone and our starters not getting NO rest whatsoever.

        • daboss1848

PIG was the BIG ZERO last game, JO retired abouyt 5 yrs ago, Delonte has barely played all yr, Daniels is/was/will be irrelevant with that chinese porcelain neck of his. Stop dismissing good wins and heightening bad losses.

      • jaydubb415

I had this”jinx”that every time i watch the lakers game they lose trust i didn’t watch the whole playoffs last year ( i know im crazy is fuck)i tivoed it and watch it back over. This year i tried that same concept its not working i’m back to watching ‘every game”thats telivised this year.We will make a move over this weekend i don’t know if its big or not but im feelin.;g us making a move over the weekend.Im pissed yo (in my east coast slang) i got my hating ass friends talking shit abut us.We may not get melo but i do think we will get PG,Who i don’t know but we will get one maybe brooks from houston or andre miller from portland i know thats not much but their way better upgrade from fisher he’s garage right now n should be coming off the bench what is it 2.7,2.3 whatever it is its horrible!!!!!

    • AndrewfromLA

It was a fucking fluke. Pierce was sick and throwing up, their bench was empty, the two O’Neals were out and so was West, Erden and Robinson were hurt, and they almost fucking beat us.

  • TimD

p.s. great postgame analysis Anna. Nothing to say about this one.

    • http://writeon213.wordpress.com/ Anna Gonda

There wasn’t much to analyze, was there?

      • TimD

        No there wasn’t.

  • jaydubb415

Right now we couldn’t get a ”’grilled cheese sandwich”for artest but we can get melo bynum 2-12 tonight go get melo then get dwight howard like we got shaq in 2012 i think we can chalk repeating up this year it pains me to say that but do we really think this team as is can 3peat hell fuck naw!!

    • greenpuke

I agree as much as it pains me to say it we ain’t gonna 3peat this yr i hate to sayit but I actully think the celtics are gonna win this yr and shaq will undoubltly finish his career as a celtic

      • jaydubb415

I think we can beat san antonio in the playoffs i don’t know about dallas but i don’t see this team beating the celtics, bulls, orheat with this team. Now i know some might say we can beat the bulls yea thats bullshit. With this much talent on the team we could of sat kobe these last 2 games and won ,im not saying were better with out kobe im saying kobe is sick and he’s shooting us out of games its a problem when phil doesn’t have enough 2 say kobe rest these last 2 games fuck is kobe running the fucking team 19 fucking turnovers W.T.Fuck.

    • LakerMarc

and you know what…I am willing to bet my season tickets that they (the Lakers) know that too. Its time for the delusions to stop!!!!!

    • Alex

You guys are like a bunch of children that are not thinking about trades. It isn’t as easy as you think. You actually believe you can get Melo AND Dwight Howard into your team without hitting the cap limit (you would surely surpass it).

And even if you guys get those two players, you would have a SHIT bench because you do not have any money to get any good backups in your team. You guys will be the next Miami Heat… three great players who will hog the ball and a SHITTY bench.

  • greenpuke

Yes very disapointing loss this team won’t make the finals in my op there cockyness and arogance have put them here and it is now starting to catch up and show the switch ain’t there anymore and that’s why this season will end in the WCF and I think the lakers deserve it just shows you have to play an 82 game season with a purpose and HCA does mean somthing

    • LakerMarc

      They wont make WCF

  • lakers

im finally starting to lose hope in this team! they play really bad and cant play offense anymore. We need a trade! how much games have the cavs won(9) how much have we won (38) THATS SO EMBARRASING!!! WE CANT LOSE TO THE WORST TEAM IN THE LEAUGUE IF WE ARE EVEN THINKING ABOUT WINNING THE CHAMPIONSHIP! DAMNN! lakers didnt seem to care in the 1st quarter and thats when it all started, they thought “oh we beat them by 50, so we’ll win no need to give any heart or effort” THIS TEAM HAS NO HEART!!!!!!!! i cant believe this, lakers BETTER GO ON A HUGEEEE WIN STREAK AFTER ALL STAR BREAK BECAUSE THERE IS NOOO WAYYY THAT WE WILL HAVE HOMECOURT ADVANTAGE IN THE PLAYOFFS AND THAT REALLY HURTS US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IM TIRED OF ALL THIS B.S

    • jaydubb415

I thought i would never say this but we have officially became the ”’laughing stock”of the NBA yes we are the reigning champions but tell me what champion beats the worst team in the NBA and and was vying to be the worst team in history, what team beats them by 55 points n then turn a round n lose to them we do how fucking embaressing is that we fucking ”made their season”if by this time tomorrow we haven’t made a trade for melo i’m chalking this season up .

  • lakers

and now when kobe plays in the allstar game, he’s not gonna have fun because he will be to worried about the lakers GREATTT! no mvp for kobe :(

    • LakerMarc

Who cares? He DOESN’T deserve it. I am a huge Kobe fan but you don’t make excuses…at some point you MUST see the light and Kobe doesn’t deserve an MVP of the reg season, finals, or All Star Game and The Lakers sure as fuck don’t deserve to even make the playoffs..This season they just aren’t elite or special or inspirational. Cancel Fish’s sportsman of the year award…….THERE I SAID IT!!!!

      • lakers

come on!! okay now your getting too carried away, kobe does deserve the mvp, he had a bad game tonight i understand that and no excuses but we cant always expect him to be amazing, even though we are dissapointed in this team, we have to still support them and we might have a chance at holding that trophy up, lakers are a different team when it comes to the playoffs, they actually play with HEART!

        • LakerMarc

okay but Kobe doesn’t deserve the MVP. He’s been responsible for alot of losses single handedly and has made TONS of poor decisions. Don’t crown Kobe based on past performances and because he is who he is. He needs to earn it this year just like any year!!!

          • lakers

im talking about all star MVP, and how he should play good because its in LA so he should represent but i dont know about the season MVP

        • LakersThe2010Champs

          Kobe is a joke.

          • Fuck Anti – Lakers

            FUCK YOU BIATCH!

  • marr

THEY NEED TO MAKE A TRADE BEFORE THE DEADLINE AND BYNUM HAS TO GO.

  • Inverse

For those who do not want melo, i hope you realize it now. This team NEEDS another perimeter threat. Kobe’s just not cutting it this season, he needs a sidekick on the perimeter. Ron artest had what, one point today?!? Move bynum/artest/shannon bring in mayo/carmelo/thabeet

    • jaydubb415

Lol i was with you all the way until you said thabeet that dude moves like a ” Mummy”theres no way he makes us better n i know you will say for defense and block shots but he has no offense ”zilch”plus he sucks at the free throw line to.We got theo maybe we can manip nene n melo i’ll roll with that.

    • jaydubb415

Lol i was with you all the way until you said thabeet dude move like a zombie n a mummy ,i know for his defense but dude he has zero offense he sucks at the free throw line all he has going is block shots, but i would wait until his body ffills out he still has acollege body.

  • lakerman928

hmm lakers unbelievable..we lost to a team that has one win in the past two months! Yea we definitely need to make a tradee..they are just so embarrassing playing basketball right now! I have hope we will turn it up in april-june but still right now Artest needs to go. BRING IN MELO PLEASE!!

    • LakerMarc

Dude!!! IF there is an April May or June…because they could slip out really quick!!! I don’t see a solution to this ….its only gotten worse.

  • Kobe 279

    TRADE SHANNON BROWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • LakerMarc

yeah now that his back is fucked!!!

  • Ray4040

Artest needs to go, he’s already on twitter promoting his mixtape and game barely ended.

trade Artest for Gerald Wallace or a Shane battier wouldn’t be too hare.

  • I SHIT ON REDS GRAVE

This is disturbingly hysterical. WHEN we make a trade whoever it is Pau or Bynum or Artest make sure we include Blake.

    • lakerman928

ummm y wud we ever trade pau??????

      • LakerMarc

For who…. the other Jesus look-alike?

    • I want winners

      Trade Pau? Seriously?

    • ilikebasketball

no way trade pau or bynum.

BUT BLAKE AND ARTEST yes, for sure!

  • lakers

WE NEED A TRADEE!!! THIS LAKER TEAM DOESNT HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jonathan

That’s it. A trade is INEVITABLE. It’s only a question of when now…

  • lakers

if the lakers keep playing like this than the celtics, heat or spurs are winning it in the end, as much as i hate to say that, we all kno its true unless the lakers step there game up!

    • LakerMarc

      nah its too late!!!

      • lakers

come on, its only the first half of the season, when the lakers come back from all star break they can play with more effort, i really hope kobe gets the all star MVP award in front of his home: staples center, i would HATE to see lebron get it :(

  • ICE CREAM MAN

First of all, great win for Byron Scott. Now, what the hell?!!! I can honestly say that I only rember Gasol and fisher score today. Who else was scoring? Freaking old ass kobe. If you can’t make a freaking basket then play some defense and stop trying to make 10 point baskets. No matter how many times you shoot, it won’t happen. Did Artest play today? something definetly has to happen. If our length is our weapon then it might be out of bullets because it hasn’t worked for a while now and the whole NBA knows it. If the worst team in the NBA can beat us then what does that makes us? GET MELO NOW!!!

    • LakerMarc

I’m going to contradict everything I have said about Melo as a Laker…Ditto!!!!! I’m done with this team as they stand right now…..Now we know what its like to be a Clips fan…..

      • ICE CREAM MAN

The only difference is that the Clips lose but w/ effort. Lakers just lose. Clippers lose in last minute points. Lakers lose the whole game due to lack of passion and heart. I wonder if the Clippers would like to trade jerseys?

        • LakerMarc

Yeah plus the clips have been inspirational in that they have ‘upset’ and defeated almost all of the top teams…shit, the lakers cant say that this season!!

  • http://www.kobebryant.ca Steez

    Trade Bynum for Melo, PLEASE!
You lose your defensive center? Ok, trade Sashas Trade Exception or Luke Walton for Thabeet, and you got yourself your defensive center.

  • Al

Bynum is not the problem. Can someone have balls to tell Kobe that he single handedly loses the games for Lakers. 8 for 24 with 7 turnovers? Come on… and he have an idiot for a coach too.

    • LakerMarc

Kobe likes to play and dance and get cute on the court then some young kid out there strips him and he’s left swinging his arms and fighting with the refs as to why he didnt get the call….FUCK YOU MAMBA someone has devenomized you!!!! Instead of shooting blanks your bite is a blank. See now its ur fault kobe that I have to talk shit!!!!

      • Lakers can’t shoot

Yo I think not getting surgery for his fingers was a mistake. That’s one reason why he gets stripped…… he can’t grip the ball.

    • Lakers can’t shoot

True, I have to be honest here. Kobe does shoot the team out of games.

Now I wish everyone would have pressured him to get finger surgeries at the beginning of this season or the last. It would have been worth missing what 10-15 games to save him from all these slips that are causing air balls and turnovers. On top of this, his career has been shortened in the long term, said many analysts including the Lakers’ own.

I dare anyone to say that a shortened career and tons of missed shots and turnovers are worth the games saved.

  • Lakers_The_Truth

We really need to package Bynum, Shanon, Artest and Walton for Melo, Nene and a filler.
The way things are just cannot continue.

    • CountBogdan

Massive mid-season trades like that NEVER result in a title. It’s purely a move for the future beyond this season. However, good teams live in the present. Like the Spurs. They see that their opportunity is closing and they are going all in this season with all their pieces.

  • LakerMarc

Andrew Bynum threw how many shots and they were all short. Why is it that this team just can’t learn that they are an inside-out game team and yet we have been rehashing this non-sense game after game…..Lakers are a bunch of fumbling idiots! Kobe…for the first time in Lakers Nation History…I’m talking shit in ur direction ….you’re playing like a fucking douche!!

ARGHHH bring Trevor back!!!!! Best Lakers of recent memory 08-09!!!!!!

  • TimD

I used to think offense wasnt the problem, that is was our D. But when the tallest player they have is 6’9” and you cant score inside with Bynum, then you got problems. Scoring in the 70s the last two and losing to the Cavs tonight shows that we could use another threat on the outside and we need more offense. Any team can have the best defense in the league, it just takes effort, which unfortunately we dont have any of that either. But not a huge loss to lose Bynum, bring in Melo and help Kobe and carry the torch when he retires.

  • Jonathan

Complacency is the problem. The Lakers are just not in the right mindset. It’s like they don’t take any of these regular season games because it’s not the playoffs. I really hope that kinda mindset bite them back in the ass cause the Lakers are playing terribly.
We had a 4-0 start to the roadtrip only to lose 3 in a row to a deplorable Cavs team.
No excuses. We need to bring some new life into these Lakers and we need it now!!!

    • Jessica G

      I couldn’t agree more!

      • lakerman928

ur a girl u wudnt know shit

        • Alex P

Get outta here you sexist bastard!!!

  • Double P

Kobe offense is slipping away from him… and that is greatly diminishes anything else he is able to do on the court. He can’t put pressure on the other teams defense, he’s turning the ball over constantly, and he’s taking his teammates out of the rhythm of the game

    • Binky

ANd he plays hardly any defense when his man doesnt have the ball.

      • Sir

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Kobe hasn’t played defense in years

        • daboss1848

but Sir hes defensive 1st team five years straight. . .

          • Binky

            Thats an another popularity contest.

          • Sir

He’s still getting by on his reputation from when he was younger which was definitely warranted earlier in his career. However, now all he does is roam on D, leaving his man to either hit a wide open jumper (usually a 3) or a wide open lane to the basket. And if he happens to be near his player his “d” consists of swiping at the ball from behind and usually missing, or getting a foul.

        • daboss1848

          lol it was facetious . . .

        • Sir

my bad brother, I suck at internet sarcasm lol

  • Mamba4Life

honestly, everything is off right now.. bynum, ron, “killer b’s” (LOL) , kobe , phil.. every piece. I don’t know what can be done at this point, just before trade deadline, but building for future makes most sense with this old team. Melo is one way to go in that direction and he can also lure Dwight.. do it Mitch!

also lol’d @ the lil smiley in this page.

  • scared to death

Wise old karate guy once said…”You walk on right side of road, good. You walk on left side of road, good. You walk in the middle…squerrchh just like grape. Basketball same thing. You either basketball yes or basketball no, basketball so-so…squerrchh just like grape.” Currenlty the Lakers are playing like grape juice.

    • bigaristotle

Now that is some funny shit, Meyogi-son.

  • Blame Phil

I’ll start by saying that im not taking anything away from the Legend that is Phil Jackson but honestly I wish we had a more agressive coach who can fire up and motivate this team who seems to have lost their winning touch.!! We continue to get burned in PicknRoll, Phil doesn’t have a good rotation, He doesn’t know when to call timeouts, is bad at distributing playing time. Just Feels like the players are bored of him. Like a student who falls asleep in History Class because of his Monotone Genious of a Proffesor.

  • scared to death

i’ve been waiting for the post game qoutes from the lakers..any?

    • ICE CREAM MAN

Here’s one that will be said….”Don’t read too much on this loss. It’s a long season and we will be ready come playoff time.”….

  • TJ

This game really made me angry, pau had a really good game and fish had a good game but nobody else showed up to play tonight, as much a i like having bynum blocking shots and dunking on people i think it might be time for a trade. BRING MELO TO LA

  • Jordan

FUCK THIS TEAM. IM DIE HARD AND I WAS AGAINST MELO FOR BYNUM BUT NOW IM SAYING FUCKING KEITH VAN HORN FOR BYNUM. CHUCKY ATKINS FOR ARTEST. SHAREEF ABDUR RAHEEM FOR FUCKING KOBE

  • sopi

    time to trade bitcheeesss

  • http://thelakersnation.com Josh Herrington

I think this truly is our wake up call. The loss brings up some interesting topics. Should we trade? In my opinion, no.
    .
With Bynum we play well and bring size and shot intimidation to the game. With Anthony, we bring less size yet we do have the offensive factor locked down.
    .
If you look at the top teams in the league, you notice they all have one thing in common: perimeter guys. The Spurs (Ginobli and Jefferson), The Heat (James, Wade, and House (eh, sort of)) The Celtics (Allen and Pierce). Those guys are the only reliable guards/forwards that I can think of. What do the Lakers have? Blake, Fisher, Brown, ARTEST? The only guy I can think of is Kobe. You add Anthony and you get Wade/LeBron combo. They have seemed to truly benefit from that duo.
    .
He helps spread the offense which leaves more room in the paint for Pau. Pau can play one-on-one against any guy in the league and if he can do that, we are rolling. We run best when we go inside-out. If Pau can’t win that one-on-one battle, he just kicks out to Carmelo or Kobe. Now, does that sound reliable or what?
    .
If I were for the trade, this would most definitely be the case I’d make. I wouldn’t be opposed to this trade, however.
    .
All we need is for these guys to step up and if they don’t, Carmelo Anthony would be an immediate solution to our lackadaisical effort.

    • http://thelakersnation.com Josh Herrington

Also, Carmelo is a great defender, and he brings a relief for Ron against the better small forwards.

      • http://thelakersnation.com Josh Herrington

        Shervan.

        • CountBogdan

Carmelo is not that great of a defender at all. And he doesn’t rebound as well as someone of his potential should or could. Having said all that, you make a compelling argument. I’d be happy with somehow trading a few of our pieces for a reliable wing player.
The problem is that just as Shannon is ice cold at the moment, he could really turn it around. Kobe’s in one hell of a slump too. A lot of this feels cyclical.

      • http://thelakersnation.com Josh Herrington

You’re right. Its not the problem of personnel, its the problem of the playing ability. They are kind of the same, but i look at ability as effort and if they’re in a slump, they should get out of it, right? This starting five has won a championship, at least, once, together. Now saying that, I think we don’t really need the trade. If I could look into the future, however, and see that they would not step up, I’d beg for Carmelo.

      • AndrewfromLA

Carmelo is about as active on defense as Amar’e. No, he doesn’t defend.

        • daboss1848

great then carmelo should fit in with the rest of the lakers who don’t defend. our front line is toilet tissue.

          • daboss1848

melo is unobtainable – but if we had him, he’d be renewed playing alongside KB

          • daboss1848

That’s how today’s “scorers” score in bulk. They save their energy for offense. Still it’s better to have someone who can score and defend a little bit than Artest, who can’t score at all. What’s the use for his defense when scorers will still put up points anyway, even he forces them to miss more than usual?

        • daboss1848

well put – but melo is unobtainable

  • Inverse
  • Ray4040

I’m Sure Mitch is up to something.

Artest needs to go, remember we are stuck with Artest for 3 more season, imagine how much worse he will be in the next 3 seasons.

    • Inverse

      Scary thought…very very scary

      • 151rummer

Artest got his ring…..now trade him!!!!! I’m so sick of watching him dribble off his foot and missing lay-ups. Time to move on!!!!!!!

    • LakerMarc

Dude,… history teaches us that Mitch is ALWAYS UP TO SOMETHING!!!

      • http://thelakersnation.com Josh Herrington

        That is very true, LakerMarc.

  • MrLALBeerBoy8819

…..that was the last straw for me I dont care whatever you guys say. TRADE someone please Mr Kupchak. i ahte seeing my Lakers lose to both good teams and crappy teams. We are broke and some thing needs ot be done fast.

  • TimD

I usually side with Vic’s “the bamboo bends, it does not break” but i feel like were pretty broken right now.

  • Eidraq

    ARTEST HAS TO GO

  • Rocko

    Do Do mints

  • Trade Bynum

Mitch built this team. In fairness to him he didn’t know that Ratliff would be out forever, that Barnes would get injured or that Luke Walton would play again.

The Bynum surgery fiasco during the summer should have been the clue that the players are not going to take the season seriously. As many of them already have two rings, who can blame them. It’s time to make some moves to shake up the team.

The championship window is going, going and soon to be gone.

    • laffs atu

Forget about trading just Bynum, TRADE THE WHOLE TEAM! I have never seen such poor basketball from this greatly tallented team ever! I love Kobe, however he seems to just give up on team basketball, and start going one on one. No defense whatsoever! And after loosing a game, Bynum is caught laughing after the bobcats beating them, Artest is promoting LO’s fragrance! What the HELL is wrong with this team! I sure as hell don’t find any humor in loosing to some of the worse teams in the league. Very disapointed in them. I have little hope in this teams abilities to three peat this year. And if Laker fans find my comments offensive and crazy, we’ll there’s something wrong with them too!

  • Ray4040

Are the Kardashians Tradable to sweeten up the pot? send those b#tches to Denver as part of our package.

  • 1234567

I know this isnt the playoffs and its a long season and what not, but eventually, this team needs to stop thinking of it that way. Before you know it, the Thunder will be on their tail and end up getting that 3rd spot. Not only does that hurt the Lakers, but then you just dig yourself a hole when age is not on your side and you have to pretty much play the entire playoffs starting off on the road. To me, this team keeps thinking and believing they can make all the negatives into a positive. And frankly, thats just the stupidest and most dumbest way to play.

I honestly think the front office is secretly looking for a trade. Though im sure they wont trade bynum, im sure they would be thinking of trading possibly the rookies (not 100% if thats possible), shannon, luke, and artest. Obviously its gonna be a slim chance, cuz then who would want any of those players, unless your like a team lookin into already rebuilding, but other than that, teams would want the younger talent or the expiring contracts talent. Pretty much its a sense of banking on hope for a team to consider those players. And though I would love Melo to come to LA, the Nuggets just really want too much for him. So I would look into trading for Wallace or Jackson. But then again, I think teams around the NBA wouldnt wanna trade with LA and would like to see us crumble.

Lastly, if no trades occur, I hope this all-star break really gives the rest of the guys a chance for them to work hard and really come together. I hope we can get Theo back and Barnes back in shape and I hope the rest of the guys really start to ice their wounds and recuperate their minds to the championship mode. Because I can guarantee after the all-star break, things will get tougher, more physical, and teams will start to push for the best possible playoff spot.

and to the Official LakersNation staff, boo or really send the Lakers a message about what us Laker fans actually think of this team. I really dont think they know or care, but I think things are at its worse when their own fans are ready to start kicking some @$$ to their fav players.

    • Ray4040

      good points,
but i don’t see these guys working hard and coming together over the allstar break when the allstar festivities and parties are happening in L.A and in our Arena.

  • Pj

I don’t know what to say but it seems we are all losing confidence and faith in our team. They have to fix things up. It’s Phil’s last year and he must get his 12th ring.

    • Trade Bynum

Phil is part of the problem. A coach must be able to motivate, instruct and guide his players. He is not doing his job.

  • ThisIsHowUFixIt

We all agree, a shake up is necessary. We already have the highest payroll, but we have to add a tad bit more payroll to keep the train rolling. 1st and foremost, trade Bynum for Melo if that offer still stands. Then use your trade exception to acquire OJ Mayo. These moves give us a little athleticism, which we can use to score some easy baskets. The first team, as presently constructed gets no easy baskets. Kobe is about the only one who can get out on the break and Artest and Fisher aren’t finishers. Next we have to see if there are any takers at all for one of the following: Brown, Artest, Walton or Blake. Trade one of those guys for just a serviceable big man who can board and defend the rim. Hell, I’d even take Thabeet off the Grizzlies hands. The naysayers will say that we are giving up on this year if we make all of these moves. I say we have got to try, because right now we wont have home court anyway and even if we can get past the Spurs no way in hell are we beating Boston or Miami in a game 7. Start getting younger right now, then hope Dwight Howard is coming when his contract is up, and you have a core of Howard, Melo, Gasol, and Mayo going forward. Make it happen.

    • Lakers_The_Truth

you are on crack if you think this could happen.
      LOL

    • Lakers can’t shoot

True, they don’t get easy baskets.
      - Kobe plays to preserve his legs and fingers.
      - As you said, Fisher and Artest don’t finish. They do not jump high or run as fast as their competition.
      - Lakers have to play the Triangle to get baskets, while other teams pick them apart to result in layups, dunks, open 3′s.
      - Lakers only get easy points with occasional inside passing and causing opponents to turn the ball over.
      - Posting up is an easier way to score than dying by jumpshots, but is more taxing than open dunks and layups. It wastes time and energy. Open shots over post-up shots any day. Posting up is preferred over jump shots in tight games, but open dunks and shots are always appreciated.

    • jaydubb415

Dude thats what i was just trying to tell ”1234567”with melo we will have one of the most athletic, dynamic, talented teams not in the west in the hole fucking ”League”kobe, melo, pau, odom, and if we get mayo like you said our bench will be stronger?People forget to realize that phil jackson won championships with servicable they weren’t ” all-word”centers they were good who was luc longley then it was the old dude !#%& im pissed i can’t remember his name, then there was jordan and pippen(kobe and melo)so we can win with out bynum.

    • jaydubb415

Would you grab the PG brooks from houston because fisher sucjs to he needs to be benched or atleast challenged for minutes + io heard houston is trying to off brooks now to us lol i don’t know.

  • RJR

How about Bynum and whoever fot Melo, and Artest and whoever for Gerald Wallace?

    • Los Lakers

      i like that…

  • Lakers_The_Truth

Right now Kobe, Pau and LO are the only untouchable guys on this team.
While I would like to keep this core intact. Their lack of desire is just alarming. Unfortunately we need to shake things up to lit a fire under this team ass.

  • Laker1

A loss from the cavs? Seriously? C’mon now, time for a big change!

  • 1234567

if you guys think we are giving up melo for bynum, thats very hard to believe. If you guys see on how we beat the celtics, its by winning the inside (rebounds and pts. in the paint), so why the eff would we wanna give up bynum for that. ya he has on and off days, but the Lakers would be stupid to trade him. The Lakers would only give him up, if they know they are gettin an inside presence in return. And lets be practical, the only likely possibilities would be jackson, wallace and slim chance of mayo. we may even have a chance at maybe rip or prince, but other than that, its just not practical to give up a center for a sf.

    • ca21

100% agree with you. bynum will only be traded if we get another center in return but other than that i doubt it jim buss and mitch will allow this to hapen

    • jaydubb415

Dude we won’t even get to boston at this pace are you serious, you can’t see beyond this 3peat ”get over it”.Phil is gone kobe is getting older and our bigs sucks on defense with bynum lets get ready for dwight howard and the best way to do that is to let go of bynum. Now i’m not sying that we should throw in the ” white towel”tis year because i can see us winning with melo and a couple of servicable centers espcially if their good on defense becuse we will have some of the most dynamic and talented players in the leaue.Look at this list kobe, melo, pau, odom, and we got ratliff coming and barnes with artest to lay defense.i’ll take that roster.

  • Rio Rondo

    The Celtics won today!

    • Da-Gee

      BUCK DA CEL-DICKS

  • I want winners

Drew had a horrible game, as did the whole team sans pau and fish, but if one person has to go, Please mitch, PLEASE make it RON. I have HAD it with this guy…2 summers ago in 09 i was ecstatic that we got him but now, im just sick and tired of him. His play is at an all time low, he rarely shows up, please, tell me one game in the last 2 months that this guys has showed up. He’s in LA now, you guys see how just an hour or two after the game, he starts promoting his stupid ass CD or song or whatever. He got his title, now SHIP HIM OUT. If I had known ron would only be of use for one year, i would’ve hoped this team kept trev back then…

    • LakerMarc

Trevor was way more valuable than Ron but you all said we got better .l….that he (Ron) was a better defender and blah blah..by losing Trevor we lost that strong transition offense which was sweet with Jordy and Shannon. Shannon has changed into a different player. He plays like an older player and has lost some of that youth in him altho he has evolved. Trevor was a cutter, athletic, fast, tough, etc and his talent was sorely wasted in Houston and now NO is reaping the rewards of taking him.

    • LAKESHOW420

I agree, I wish we had Trevor back, Artest is dog shit, he cant guard anyone which is why we got him in the first place. Any team we play just gives him all the space in the world because he can’t dribble for shit and can’t make an open shot…. Get me out there playing his position and I’ll actually make some open shots

  • Laker_Fan(*sigh)

worse loss ever man!!! this team stinks

  • iLakers

You know what, after reading all this negative talk…EVERYONE NEEDS TO CALM THE FUCK DOWN.

With that said, lets look at the reality.

The playoffs are a different story. The regular season will come to an end and we’ll end up as 4th seed at worst (I don’t see us losing the Pacific Division at all…we own Pheonix). We’ll make adjustments come Playoff time and we’ll be a different team.

Will there be a trade? I wouldn’t be surprised.

One of the things that i’ve noticed about this team is that we don’t have that slasher anymore. Kobe use to drive in and create havoc all the time. Even if it was simply driving and kicking. He made defenses double, triple team him. Now he settles for jump shots or a lot of ISOs.

Our big men are not true big men. Our best rebounder is LO. Bynum has a weak inside game for a 7-footer. It’s a fucken enigma to me how everyone says he has this great potential. I don’t see it. Pau needs to step up. Demand the fucken ball and score. So many times have i seen him hold the ball for 5+ seconds and pass it out. WTF! Come on Gasol your an all star…ball these bitches up!

On a brighter note. We’re the Lakers. We expect nothing but the best. Even if we don’t win this cookie, we’ll still compete in the Playoffs. As long as we compete its all good. Maybe having a lower seed will channel some fucking energy into our veins. We don’t need to be the top seed to win the championship. All we need is the motivation. Will we find it? Only time will tell, but that’s what makes if fun to watch the greatest team in NBA history. :)

    • LakerMarc

Wake up dreamer ….you are in denial and you will be the last one crying and sobbing unable to understand what happened. You are so ridiculous because you are being positive and delusional just for ‘positive’s’ sake.

      • iLakers

        Haha dreamer…good one.

Its called Laker faith buddy. We win some, we lose some, but you keep faith that something might click…hopefully this loss triggers that something.

If you had these high expectations of the Lakers breaking regular season records and what not then it makes sense why your rambling about the Lakers being a piece of crap team. But if you know anything about Basketball, then you know that its the Playoffs where everything matters. If there a piece of crap team in the playoffs, then you can say there a piece of crap team. But until then stop being a little bitch and talking shit about your team…if this really is the team you support.

I mean i can only imagine the distraught you must have gone through during the Kwame/Smush years compared to whats going on with this team. I mean we just won 2 cookies and your not satisfied? hahaha

  • atlfan

This was a team loss from A – Z. No one played well. Everyone deserved to be called out on this one. Bynum shot badly but wasn’t he like the only one TRYING to stop the penetration to the basket. If Gasol played Bynum’s defense that would be great. Was Odom there today? Gasol shot well but didn’t he try to throw a pass to the bench? This game was pathetic.

  • joseph

    people 3 things

    1) everyone Calm down for a second
    2) Theres needs to finally have a trade
    3) YOU should all know better that when ever we hear a rumor in the media it never comes true! i dont remember ANYONE reporting the pau gasol trade or the ron artest signing. So everyone just wait and see what happens!

  • ilikebasketball

WE NEED TO GET A BACK UP POINT GUARD THAT CAN HELP OUT FISH.

    TRADE ARTEST AND BLAKE!!!!!!!

who was the guy who blew up for 16 points in the first half?
    more?

    • ilikebasketball

the guard on cavs i mean.

  • Ray4040

It’s amazing to me that between Kobe, Fisher, and Phil Jackson that they cannot motivate this team or keep this team on track. This not a 53 man football team, theres only 12 lakers suited up, 8 or 9 of them actually played, its pathetic.

  • LAKESHOW420

We need to get rid of the disease that is Ron Artest to this team. He can’t hit a shot if his life depended on it and he can’t defend as well as he used to, so WHY THE FUCK is he on our team? Phil now plays him for 18 minutes today (with no contribution) and about 24 mins against Charlotte (where he got shit on by Gerald Wallace). I wish we still had Ariza, a guy who played with heart. Last year we had our struggles and I doubted the Lakers even during the OKC series but this year its on a whole different level, this is pathetic!

    • LakerMarc

      Trevor is the man

      • LAKESHOW420

I miss Ariza’s athleticism. I heard on espn 710 yesterday that Charlotte denied the Artest package for either Stephen Jackson or Gerald Wallace (figures), I dont know anyone who will take artest, unless its for some D-league scrub

  • ilikebasketball

all you guys hating on phil and kobe and pau are nuts.

phil and kobe and pau got us our championships.

they play hard…and kobe may shoot too much sometimes and pau may be soft at times, and bynum may get hurt a lot..but even with those things WE GOT TWO RINGS IN 3 YEARS WITH THAT GROUP.

so shut up and stop blaming the ones who got us our rings.

if the veterans, fisher, pau, kobe, need help they deserve to have it. they aren’t getting it though.

ARTEST IS GARBAGE, AND BLAKE IS A WASTE.

i like bynum this season, he’s been great, odom has been great the whole season, and i liked what i saw from barnes.

but blake’s position is soo important as the back up pg to fisher. we get beat with young fast guards. and fisher can’t handle it but we need him for smart crunch time moments, thats undeniable. the regular season d should be handled by blake. but he has been wholly dissapointing.
and artest has lost anything anyone saw in him.

TRADE BLAKE AND ARTEST FOR A BACKUP PG, WHO IS DEFENSIVE MINDED.
    you will see the difference.

    • LakerMarc

You don’t have any rings, … Douche!

      • ilikebasketball

        wow, bad fan.

    • LAKESHOW420

agreed, i will take just about anyone just to get Artest out of there, similar to how I wanted Kwame Brown out of there so badly I would want Ed Obannon to come back just to get rid of Kwame… Luckiliy we got Pau, and now i hope we get Melo.

  • Jeff

It was like watching Rome fall. We need to keep our heads up. Fish had a great game, it’s good to see him tear it up on the court. All Star Weekend YO!!

    • Sam

uh Sessions had 30+ tonight…fisher did not have a good game…only person who came to ball today was gasol

  • LakerMarc

Nah cuz Rome was sacked by the mighty Visigoths and the Lakers were sacked by the fucking pathetic Cavs, which makes the Lakers even more pathetic ….sorry, I get ur point but HORRIBLE EXAMPLE.

  • Nick

NO BENCH NO BENCH NO BENCH

  • Nick

HONESTLY U FUCKING GUYS SUCK AT LIFE!!!

    • LakerMarc

Nicky…you’re back no you suck remember you were talking about giving Kobe a hummer?!

  • Cappycruch

how the heck can we lose the mother****ing cavs. Kobe i hope you are yelling at your team and blow steam like you did in 07 by threatening the team to step up. I suggest we make the melo trade because this team is a disgrace. I never liked the we played since December and I thought we were playing like the cavs even though we were winning games and they weren’t. If your name doesn’t end in brown, bryant, and gasol, i suggest you pack your bags including ron artest. What a joke you are. I mean you were the mvp of the preseason for the lakers and you can’t make shots now. Don’t give me that oh they are pros and teams are allowed to have good games and bad games. NO EXCUSES!!!

  • http://Google Adam

Okay I may not be the first to say this BUT I’m going to say this for I FEEL STRONLGY ABOUT IT!
OUR LENGTH IS OVERRATED! EVERY person who says our length is our biggest advantage is BULLSHIT! This team this season plays no defense and our team offense is struggling AS WELL!
Last year our length didnt even serve us well! What made us win that title was our efficient offense running through kobe and pau and team defense especially ron artest and the perimeter D. THIS TEAMS LENGTH IS THE BIGGEST OVERRATED ADVANTAGE OF ALL SPORTS!!
    I WILL END WITH:
TRADE BYNUM! HES FULL OF INJURIES AND IS OVERRATED! GET MELO! MARC JACKSON SAID IT BEST ON SUNDAYS GAME VS ORLANDO!
“WHY WOULDNT YOU TRADE YOUR 3RD OR 4TH BEST PLAYER FOR ONE OF THE TOP 10 IN THE COUNTRY!?”

    • LakerMarc

He did say that…..and Mama, there goes that man….hand down (Ron) man down!!!!

      • http://Google Adam

AND IN ADDITION! DO YOU GUYS KNOW HOW MUCH PAU AND KOBE (YES I KNO KOBE!) WOULD BENEFIT FROM A GUY NAMED CARMELO ANTHONY?! HE WOULD TAKE SO MUCH PRESSURE OFF BOTH OF THEM AND IMAGINE THE SUCCESS BOTH PAU AND KOBE WOULD HAVE HAVING ANOTHER SUPERSTAR THREAT!
        TRADE FOR MELO ALREADY MITCH!!

  • ragerok

Lakers are lookin’ more like CHUMPS than CHAMPS. somebody needs to light a fire under their asses & get back on track. They are losin’ 5 games a month…they jus’ got #4 this month n’ still have some good comp comin’ up to finish the month. WACKNESS!

  • jiji

kobe wtf was that? you should feel real fuckin bad going 8-24 or w.e against the worst team in the league… no fuckin excuses

kobe es #1 and so are the lakers, so no more losses from here on out? win the championship that is all.

  • JZ

Didn’t the Lakers play without Bynum, and yet continued to win? What more with Melo! Longterm? Well, isn’t Melo 26 years old? Just 3 years older. Size? Then trade Bynum and Artest for Melo and Nene.

    • LakerMarc

      Ne Ne SUX!!!!!

  • Dragon

I say get Melo at this point in time he can’t hurt us any less or any better with the way we play loosing to the Cav’s how can you lose to Cav’s what kind of a team are you to lose so much focus. Oh well all I can say is forget about this year champion there will be no parade or riots only memories of our 2 year run and time to say good by to Phil and perhaps a few players on this team.

    • LakerMarc

Bring Back Trevor Ariza!!!!! Seriously Mitch!!!!!
      PPPPPPLLLLLLEEEAAAASSSSSSEEEEE

  • JZ
  • JFK

Are you guys (some) really fans? People calling Kobe “old” and allow types of names. This guys has given his ALL to BB and the LAL… sure his finger is affecting his game but I’m NEVER worried about Kobe.

I went to the charlotte game and I had amazing seats. What I saw a Lakers team that was not interested or motivated. We have the talent but guys look tired and lazy…. say what you want about anyone but blaming Kobe is stupid. Without him we have NO TEAM.

    • LakerMarc

I may, under the worst of frustrations, throw an occasional cheap shot at Kobe but, it isn’t cool to dog Kobe and some do it all the time. Kobe is the face of the Lakers…Kobe is the Lakers…and right now Kobe is the greatest player in the NBA and is achieving some unbelievable milestones AS A LAKER!!!

  • wbgk1979

    Embarrassing!
    This is just wrong.
Now the lakers are giving W’s away to the cavs.!? Is that a sympathy W?
    .
I don’t know. Maybe they’re just not motivated anymore. Phil’s Zen magic doesn’t work anymore or the players are not in tune with each other.
    .
Time for the all star break and some last minute trading to try and create a new impulse.

  • Robert.

    OK, a few things:
    .
    1) this is the ‘end’ of their longest most difficult road trip (4 games in 5 days???).
    .
    2) watching the Lakers play – they were ‘going through the motions’. It’s clear that they did not take this game (nor the Bobcats game) seriously.
    .
    3) the reason for the loss is NOT Artest. Not sure why many think that.
    .
    4) agree with the person who said we need another ‘slasher’. Kobe’s slashing days are limited. Farmar was actually a ‘decent’ slasher, and quite fast. NOBODY else is a slasher, except for maybe S.Brown (who likes to jump shoot too).
    .
    5) Lakers have lost speed, and/but work better in 1/2 court (with Triangle offense). Lakers have lost a ‘little’ D by losing Sasha (sorry, but it’s true). He was pesky and annoyed many guards. Who do we have to annoy guards now? Barnes? Where’s Barnes?
    .
    6) Sorry but ‘length’ wins out in playoffs. Period. The game is different with big men in the paint, even if they hardly move.
    .
    7) Kobe is ‘clearly’ not feeling well. This is bad. It’s not because he’s played 1000s of games. It is probably ‘partly’ because he’s been to Olympics, and Finals for the last 3 years. It’s really tiring. Even MJ had a ‘baseball’ break in between his Finals appearances. Kobe is also not doing as well this year, because of his knee surgery, OBVIOUSLY. It is taking LONGER to heal the right way. He dribbles more like a crab (not to be confused with the ‘crab dribble’). He did NOT dribble that way before the surgery. The team goes as Kobe goes, so if Kobe don’t go, the team don’t go. That simple.
    .
    8) Best of all possible situations (for next year): Melo lets contract expire, Buss pony’s up another 15-20M per year to add Melo to the Lakers. But …. won’t happen. Melo will either sign w/Knicks, Denver (I think he’s bluffing there, though).
    .
    9) Best for ‘long term’ Lakers: yes, give up ‘this year’, trade Bynum for Melo, D.Howard signs with Lakers in a few years.
    .
    10) I guess the jury is ‘out’ for the strength of the Lakers, considering we’re not at the end of the season yet. Personally, I claimed that this year’s team was going to be a juggernaut considering last year’s trades. I’m not sure of that now. Not that the trades weren’t valuable – but they were (and should always be) contingent on the health of Kobe. Kobe is NOT healthy. He is in pain, and is NOT feeling well. It’s not that he can’t play through pain anymore – it’s more like his body is restricting movement. His knees are restricting his lateral moves, and his jump height. But keep the faith. He will be better next year, when his knees have had a summer to heal (he better not train for Olympics this year).
    .
    11) I guess we’re supposed to trust Kup/Buss for the ‘next’ step. Probably ‘keep team as is’, re-tool in off season. Not much hope … but.
    .
    12) This is clearly the last year for Phil with the Lakers — BUT – “I predict” he will coach the Heat or the Knicks in years to come :(. OK, so who do we get in place of Phil? YES, Coach K. He retires from Duke, and coaches Kobe and crew for the next few years !!!!! (he can return to Duke after Kobe retires – he will still be young enough to coach).

    • Gabriel

You’re Totally right for Coach K this is a great idea .
About the lakers’ situation, they have to move the guys who are sleeping at the bench..Guys like Theo Ratliff( even injured), Joe smith and make a trade with them ,in fact to refresh a little bit the team !

  • tradesasha

can the lakers just trade artest away…please, im so sick and tired of that nigga!! Talking about his mixtape after the loss today!! Fool should be talking about how bad he played, how much he let the team down with no field goal and 1 point…fucking punk ass embarassing shit man!!

  • blackswan

okay guys.. its not that big of a deal…
the lakers beat boston on this road trip, and that should be a sign that the lakers are still able to play and win against championship calliber teams… orl game doesnt matter as u much, they were playing in their 3rd game in 4 nights… andrew bynum is vital for us, winning a championship, they will help us in the PLAYOFFS. not the REGULAR SEASON… we dont win championships in feb. laker fans just need to calm down and not jump ship… lakers are back to back champs, they know how to win when their backs are against the wall… i.e. game 5&6 against okc, game 5&6 against phx, game 6&7 against BOSTON… dawwnt trip. lakers still got it..

    • LakerMarc

whatever you say blackswan…meanwhile why don’t you listen to Kobe and train your boy Pau?

  • Remix5x

Look I know this game sucked… but everyone here is jumping to conclusions…. we dont need a magic trade or anything we are fine, we also have to get Ratliff and Barnes back guys, those two guys believe it or not are a big part of this team!

Honestly looking towards the playoff’s I really cant see a team (yes even the spurs) beating us in a 7 game series… with the exception of Celtics (and especially if the Celtics have home court)

We will be fine! Not worried about the Spurs and we will get the WCF and if we dont have to face the Celtics in the east the I think we got a 3 peat!

    • LakerMarc

Jesus! Are you serious? I mean even after a few hours to contemplate this and kinda process it all…and you still come up with this malarky? Is anybody home?

      • Remix5x

doesnt change that face that im no worried…. teams cant beat us in a 7 game series…. Ratliff and Barnes going to help alot when they come back… who gives a crap about the cavs….

  • 1234567

i blew off some steam awhile back, but i really wanna know when barnes and theo are coming back? i mean wasnt it said that theo was starting to practice and what about barnes? isnt barnes supposed to be coming in a few weeks cuz its been close to 8 weeks already. i really think if the lakers arent planning to make a trade, we could really use those guys right now. i mean no disrespect to joe smith, but he aint no back up to bynum or pau. hell, i think hes more of the 6th option of all the big men. i think when theo is ready to go, he can be utilized a lil bit more behind pau and cut paus minutes by 2 at most 3 (that will definitely add up to helping towards the playoffs) and then barnes when he comes back, can definitely be beneficial to bringing that run-n-gun style back. when u have to have kobe or ron come and be with the 2nd unit, i think it f*cks everything up. it slows down what blake, shannon, and LO wanna do. overall, I think it would be great for those two to come back and take the stress away from kobe and pau. i think both those guys are just too tired to play that it rubs off on the rest of the team. but in the end, if a trade does happen, i hope its to add youth, speed, and an extra bit of scoring. whether its melo or mayo or something, i hope it has those factors.

    • LakerMarc

Barnes should be back by beg of March! Theo is going to be gone a bit longer and may be back by Playoffs! If there is a playoffs for the Lakers!!

    • Remix5x

I like the way you think!

  • Nate Mcmillian

Wow first to start losing to Orlando which is not horrible because Orlando is a decent squad nothing great but pretty good. Then a follow up loss at Charlotte who for some reason own us every year but then after that loss you would think the champs would come out with urgency right? Wrong they follow that up by losing to the Cavaliers who are the laughing stock of the NBA right now. All you brainwashed people who tell me not to panic we will get it together, is it okay to panic now? Kobe needs to go through passing drills and learn how to not turn the ball over. We need to trade dick Fisher Steve Flake and Ron Adobe Artest those guys are just empty slots waiting to be filled. There is no way we will win a title with the current roster I do not even think we will come out of the west the way we have played lately. Phil needs to get in someone’s face for once man all that guy does is just sit over there and daydream. I like Phil as a coach obviously since he has 11 rings but man sometimes your team needs you to coach. Anyway see you next game my Laker brothers.

    • Odom the player

Well said Nate, you are always on the money. Its hard to believe some of these other people can’t see this. Like you said these 3 are just eating up roster spots (Dick fisher, Ron adobe Artest, and old Stevie flake. I’m so sick of these guys. The only things I can say is maybe one day this team will care about winning again.

  • http://twitter.com/dynamicDru dynamicDru

Something has to be going on in that locker room, maybe Phil will write about a book about when he retires…

Check out my new video…Will Andew Bynum live up to the Lakers expectations?

  • Tecun

Terrible loss tonight. I would venture to say that this was the worst loss during the Kobe Bryant era. Talent for talent, this team has no business losing to a depleted Cleveland team that received very little from one of their best players: Mo Williams. However, given how terrible the team has played during stretches this year, I was not at all surprised to see them lose by a few points. I did however get somewhat angry when they went down 9 plus points in the first and the second half. Getting blow out would have been more than a complete embarrassment. Nonetheless, tonight’s ridiculousness was a clearer indication that their minds and hearts are distracted. As it pertains to talent, this team has enough to win the NBA Championship. They have two of the best big men in the league, which can on any night dominate on both ends of the court. The Lakers have one of the top players in the league in Kobe Bryant who can do just about anything when he has the desire and health. Off the bench, the Lakers have one of the most versatile and ambidextrous players the league has ever seen: Lamar Odom. And let us not forget that one of our key reserves, in Matt Barnes, has been sidelined for a better part of 2 months. So as upset as everyone is, let us put things into perspective. This team has the talent, sans Matt Barnes, to beat a Boston Celtic team. It also has the talent, chemistry, and coaching to compete against the best team in the league: the San Antonio Spurs. We’ve already demonstrated that we can beat the Thunder, the Bulls, and the Knicks (twice). However, we’ve also managed to lose to some of the worst teams in the league, as well as get blown out by any team that we take for granted. What is it? When it all comes down to it, it is more or less about their desire, focus, energy, and resolve. Could it be the coaching staff? Partly, considering that the coaches can only do so much to prepare and motivate this team. Moving through picks and screens not only involves desire but also knowledge of what the opposing team likes to run. Resolve and focus are what is needed to close out on a shot, box out one’s man, and play good-solid defense.
As Phil put it tonight, the Lakers had on vacation before the game i.e. they didn’t show up for three quarters tonight. As I mentioned earlier, the coaching staff can prepare them and motivate them, but it is up to each player to demonstrate that out on the court. And so far, on more than a few occasions, the players have refused to show any desire, any focus, any resolve, or any determination.

To be fair, their offense was somewhat efficient. Could we have done better? Of course! Kobe was, I believe, still suffering from his bout with the flu, given how bad his shot was and his lack of any defensive activity. Bynum had his looks when he got multiple shots from 7 to 10ft, but he converted on just two and engaged in very little activity next to the rim. Lamar, for all his size and gifts, had an off game tonight which has been rare for the most consistent offensive threat on this team, this year. What has to be another disappointing game from Ron, he was marginally involved and only attempted one shot. However, we did get a great deal of production from Pau Gasol who dominated inside for 30pts and 20rebs. Fisher and Shannon Brown combined for 34 pts on 15 for 26 shooting. Although Fish and Shannon don’t normally put up these numbers (and we all wish they would), they did enough on the offensive side to will us to a win. Even the very inconsistent Steve Blake gave us 5 pts, which sadly is more than he’s done in many games where he goes scoreless.

This game eventually came down to defense, which is something that requires desire, determination, focus, and resolve which has been severely lacking on this team the entire year. Most of their guards blew by the first line of defense and scored at will against our interior length. Kobe’s man on almost every play down got to the rim at will. Kobe, as has been mentioned many times has demonstrated a yen to leave his man open, play near the lane, and has provided very little activity on the perimeter where driving guards usually take off from or shoot. If you really examine the film, Kobe refuses to move his feet on defense and stay with his man. In additon, he gambles far too much and refuses to box out anyone. This is a recipe for defensive mistakes, points in the lane, fouls on our big guys, and open 22ftrs and 3point shots. The same can be said for Fish, Shannon, and Steve. However, where Kobe refuses to contest the shot, Fish is usually the player that jumps the highest to contest a jumper. However, as time has taken a toll on his body, younger and quicker guards have an easy time blowing by Fish. Shannon for all the quickness that he has, is a player that has not demonstrated a lack of defensive tact and skill because his man can usually take him off the dribble. Like Kobe, Shannon does not contest the jumpshot, but rather chooses to dip his head down with the hope that by flying by the shooter and dipping his head down he will distract the offensive player just enough to make him miss. Steve Blake has the aggressiveness and fiery personality to be a great defensive player, but unfortunately that is not enough to slow down his man just enough for Steve to contain him. I will be fair and say that Steve never gives up, he is constantly playing defense, but as is the game of basketball, any mistakes the he or someone else makes usually results in points. And Steve has not shown enough defensive skill and containment to warrant any admiration or silence. Ron once had the ability to lock down on a player, but unfortunately he has lost more than just a step, and he has trouble moving through picks or stopping a quick player off the dribble. In addition, because he lacks quickness, taller or more athletic players can also elevate and shoot over him with very little resistance from Ron (think Rudy Gay, LeBum James, or Danny Granger).
As for the inside players, the inconsistency really hurts us on some nights. When Andrew Bynum uses his length to contest and block shots, our defense thrives. However, let’s not give up to many drives and force him to focus on the man driving at the expense of defending or boxing out his man (or not getting those rebounds). Unfortunately, when Bynum is not active and contesting shots, just about anyone can take it down the paint and score at will e.g. Monday night against the Bobcats. That is why Andrew needs to work on his consistency. As great a role as Bynum plays, his counterpart Pau does not do enough of what Bynum is effective at. For instance, Pau has a tough time contesting a shots from player who drive to the basket. I’ve noticed over some time that when Pau “tries” to contest a shot, he doesn’t go at it wholeheartedly i.e. the time it takes him to get to a position in which he can contest or block a shot is not quick enough. Moreover, due to his physical limitations, he doesn’t have the girth to soundly block a dunk. These are things that Pau should address and correct given his size and the potential that he has to be an effective deterrent to any player that penetrates our perimeter defense.

To sum it up, this team seems to lack the defensive activity (Kobe and Fish) and aggressiveness (Pau, Bynum, and Lamar) that is needed night in and night out to beat upper and lower echelon teams and rise up the standings. The impact of the mistakes of one or two players could certainly be lessened if the Lakers talked on the defense. Whether its switching on a play, or hedging, calling for rebounds, or boxing out this team needs to talk to each other to play solid defense. It is very puzzling that this team doesn’t talk on defense, and as we’ve seen, the result of non-communication is defensive lapses and breakdowns. If the players haven’t corrected this by now, it is up to Phil and the coaches to threaten them into talking on both ends of the floor.

Lastly, I want to address the topic of trades. Do the Lakers need a trade to win an NBA Championship? No, they have enough pieces, and when they have the resolve and conviction to play like a great team they can beat their biggest and most stacked rival: the Boston Celtics. However, given how complacent and disinterested this team has gotten, I would be open to the notion of a trade.
Personally, I don’t like the Melo deal for the simple fact that although he gives us an added offensive punch, his defense/rebounding are suspect. More importantly, our biggest asset, length and size, would be split in half if we had to trade Bynum. The reason we beat Boston last year was because Bynum was, despite playing on one leg, rebounding and defending for our team; in addition, he also provided dunks and an ability to score some points in the paint, all while punishing Glen Davis and Kendrick Perkins. If Bynum were to go, who would guard Glen Davis or Kendrick Perkins? Lamar Odom? Don’t think Lamar would put up enough resistance against those two enforcers; moreover, he would get punished in size and his offensive game would suffer. Derrick Caracter? Phil won’t play rookies who don’t know the offense, let alone in the playoffs against the team vying for a championship. Theo Ratliff? Not enough size and apparently he isn’t ready to return. Joe Smith? No playing time for a guy that could certainly help us, Phil doesn’t have confidence in him and wont play him. So as you can see, Bynum’s loss would result in easy baskets in the paint and a lack of size in the interior. Some suggest that Melo would create problems on defense for the opposing team, and that is certainly true. But our offense, when we are focused and running on all cylinders, is not the problem. Our defense is the aspect of this team that let’s us down consistently. Therefore, what I have come to the conclusion is that we need a player that can provide toughness, hustle, defense, and a consistent shot from the outside. I don’t believe we have the pieces to make a big trade, but here are two trades that I would be open to. Consider however, that I haven’t checked them on the ESPN Trade Machine, but given the salaries, I believe that if you tweak them a little, they would work.

Luke Walton and Devin Ebanks (and any lesser pieces if necessary) for EDUARDO NAJERA from Charlotte. First and foremost, as much as I like Luke Walton, he has not given us much this year and although he is usually brought in to stabilize the offense, we could certainly do without his lack of contributions. Devin Ebanks could turn out to be a solid player in the years to come, but at this point we need a piece that can contribute and provide us with the energy and tenacity that we need to compete against any team in the League. I personally believe Najera could give us energy, hustle, and a defensive tenacity that we desperately need. Although he doesn’t have a consistent shot or scores much, it would definitely be an upgrade. He is a faster, more aggressive, and more energized Luke Walton. Although this is not a significant makeover, it is one of the only viable options that could help us. Najera would be a fresh, hungry player that can provide us energy off the bench, a tenacity to play physical, and a determination to play solid defense on an undersized forward (Kendrick Perkins/Glen Davis/Brandon Bass/DaJuan Blair/Jeff Green/Antonio McDyess/Udonis Haslem). Moreover, we would not have to give up Andrew Bynum’s length, which is significantly important to our success. The contributions that he provides us are also dependent on Phil’s willingness to play him and Charlotte’s willingness to trade him. If Phil plays Najera something like 10 minutes, he’ll have the opportunity to give us energy and tenacity, and this would certainly pick up the energy of the entire team. Again, it is all dependent on Phil and Charlotte.

The second trade I propose is Steve Blake and Devin Ebanks (and lesser pieces if necessary) for WILL BYNUM from Detroit. As much as Steve Blake killed us in a Blazer or Clipper jersey, he hasn’t provided this team with the contributions that he once showed. His defense is, as I have mentioned, tenacious but nowhere near solid as it should be for someone of his size and talent. I had hoped that if Fisher struggled against a quick guard, that Steve would be able to lock or at least slow him down. Unfortunately, quick guards have been our downfall e.g. Aaron Brooks, Ramon Sessions, Earl Boykins, Tony Parker. I contend that Will Bynum could keep up with quick guards and maybe not lock them down, but at least stay with them. Bynum is that fast and that quick to give small guards some resistance. In addition, he has the strength and size to body those quick guards which give us so many problems. He is considered a ball hawk that has the quickness to disrupt a point’s dribble. I’m not expecting him to stop everyone, but we need a defender that can at least keep up with smaller guards, and Bynum’s problems in Detroit make him an option worth considering. Although we don’t need a scoring guard, Blake’s shot has been inconsistent, especially those shots that come when he’s wide open off of a pick. Will Bynum has proven that he can make those shots. He is considered an offensive guard and can also penetrate into the teeth of the defense which would create havoc for the other team’s guards. Some may suggest that he’s far too small. Standing at 6-0, Bynum is undersized, but Shannon gives us options when it comes to defending a larger point guard (Billups, Derron Williams, Derrick Rose). Once again, Will Bynum’s contributions depends on Phil’s decision to trust and play him, but as has been shown in our losses, our guards cannot stop a quick, athletic guard. If Detroit is willing to deal Will Bynum, he would bring a consistent offensive game, but more importantly, he would bring the speed and quickness to at least disrupt or defend speedy point guards.

By no means are these the only possibilities, but in my estimation, these are two possible upgrades.

With that said, I hope the coaching staff and management can get this season turned around in time to string together a few solid wins before the playoff run. Whether its a change in mentality or a change in personnel, a change is severely needed.

    • Robert.

      Great piece of work, Tecun!
      .
I think you nailed it. Nothing more needs to be said, and I like your trade recomm’s.

      • Tecun

I appreciate that very much brother, and thank you for taking time to read my opinion. I apologize to you and everyone else for my grammatical mistakes.

        • LakerMarc

Dude Nice! But That was fucking LLLOOOOONNNNGGGG but def not wasted space. Listen up LakersNation!

    • P CLAY

i agree! i explain it the same way to ppl who dog the lakers. however, they dont wana hear it. they just wana dog us lol… this team was built to outscore you. now that our scoring has gone down, and we CANT play defense, we are in trouble. i expect soo much more from these guys. if we are not hitting this issue on the nail, i would looove to hear the excuse, sitting on my couch drinking hennessee, directly from the players. no player is perfect. and its very easy to point out what a player does that we wish they would do different, but this team has won in the past with some of these same issues. they dfntly need to humble up! and i think with that, they will be able to put this project back together. i still think that some of these vets are in denial about being on the downward spirals of their careers.

    • Luke Sucks

I really enjoyed your comments until you mentioned Puke. He is a horrible player. No offense and very little defense. I don’t see why Phil plays this guy.

Puke is not the source of the problem but putting him in the game is like raising the white flag.

      • LakerMarc

        Puke? LOL

      • Tecun

Of course he is not part of the problem, but at this point he could be used as leverage to bring in a remedy for the lack of intensity, defensive aggressiveness, activity, resolve, and focus. When Luke enters the game, our pace and activity remain the same or can get slower. Can you imagine a workhorse like Najera coming in and hustling on every play, defending with tenacity, playing uptempo, and fighting for rebounds? By shaking things up and letting the Laker players know that complacency will not be tolerated, most of them could learn or be influced by Najera’s attitude. Most importantly, we would not give up our biggest assets: size and length.

    • Sir

Is this the longest comment to ever grace TLN??

    • daboss1848

damn Tecun u really let loose – maybe i’ll read all of it over the weekend . . .

    • Sir

and just out of curiosity, but why do people keep bringing up Melo’s rebounding saying that it’s lacking? He’s a SF not a PF, and I’d say his 7.6 rpg are pretty damn good. Not every SF can average 10 rebounds like a Gerald Wallace or in his prime Shawn Marion. Stop talking about his rebounding, it’s more than good enough for his position

  • Lakers4life

    get carmelo

  • Big OT

This has to have the warning bells ringing if thus doesn’t send a signal I have no idea what will.

Front Office needs to make some sort of move to add some freshness to the team.

  • Brown Hater

My problem is not that they lost to the Cavs is that they lost to the Cavs after they got beat down on national TV by the Magic, handed their worse lost of the season to a non playoff team ( and don’t give me that the Bobcats always play them tough crap that game was a blowout) Their couach called them disappointing and embarrassed by their play, and then you go out and put up the a heartless effort Like last night. I stopped watching after the first quarter. And for my own sanity I’m done caring if they don’t care why should I when they are bounced out of the playoffs in the first or second rd ( and yes the first rd is possible ) Then maybe they’ll start to care. If they pull themselves together and go on a nice run great but I not gonna hold my breath. If the Bynum for Melo trade can be done do it our length didn’t stiop the Cavs for scoring in the paint did it. At least with Melo we can put up some points.

  • P CLAY

its really just a “catch 22.” dont forget, we are the LAKERS. we ARE the favorites pretty much every year. players DO get complacent. its human nature. everybody is excited the first month on a new job, then it soon becomes just another job. however, ppl without a job will look at u like u should still have the same motivation… i am very disappointed in what the lakers have demonstrated during the reg season, but its not the playoffs. however, the energy and mental part of the game, which is about 70%, kind of scares me. they dont play like they want it! and thats the bottom line. they could get it done with the cast they have now. the “IT” factor is deffntly missing though. sucks to be a laker fan right now lol

    • LakerMarc

yes……BUT……in the previous 2 years the Lakers managed to beat down on their major opponents all season long, maintain a winning record, and ATLEAST beat the teams they were always expected to beat with just a VERY FEW exceptions like Charlotte, but then again its always charlotte. This year they haven’t even done that. In the 2 previous years, you knew the Lakers could get it together because we constantly saw what they were doing to the competition….we haven’t seen that this year and you should not assume that they can do it again, otherwise you are SETTING YOURSELF UP!!!!

  • Luke Sucks

I really enjoyed your comments until you mentioned Puke. He is a horrible player. No offense and very little defense. I don’t see why Phil plays this guy.

Puke is not the source of the problem but putting him in the game is like raising the white flag.

  • Jim Buss is an idiot

Jim Buss is an idiot. You won’t trade Bynum? What have you done to improve the Lakers? Nothing! Go back to managing the concessions and leave the basketball operations to Jennie.

Jerry is a fool if he is giving the team to his lame, no talent son.

    • 242LakerFan

I agree. That’s the only trade we need.

      • betamax_13

no trades are needed. it is just as simple as they have no interest to play.

      • LakersThe2010Champs

Forget it. As long as we have Kobe, even Melo would not get the ball. Kobe just abandons the concept of team ball, plays no D, shoots us out of game, and take everyone out of rhythm. Plus he is a turnover machine. I don’t understand why everyone is still saying Lakers would be done if Kobe is not with the team. In fact, the Lakers are done with him.

    • Coach Brian Shaw

      yeah

lets trade our best defender in the paint!!! great idea

      • ByeByeBynum

If you’re referring to Bynum in the paint, wow are you mistaken. The only thing this guy has done consistently in the paint is watch it dry as he gets outplayed by other centers smaller than him.

  • Carlos

IM ASHAMED TO BE A LAKER FAN RIGHT NOW

WHY IS BEING ALAKERS FaN THIS STRESSFUL

    • LakerMarc

we’re spoiled! just remember 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 with tons of joy and great memories…..CUZ YOU WONT SEE IT AGAIN!!! sorry to say.

  • betamax_13

    new here.
i just want to say three things.

1.how can you TRUST this team if they do not TRUST the system, their strength and most of all one another.

2.they will not 3peat no matter what happens.

3.everyone is making fun of them. they look like a bunch of clowns out there now.

    this team SUCKS.

    • betamax_13

lamar odom always says “its gonna be ok”

man, fix yourself first before saying anything

      • LakerMarc

Yeah it really infuriates me cuz he’s my fave Laker and he always says ‘we’re very arrogant and get easily bored’. Well maybe losing every fucking game and having the opportunity to sit it out late April and in the summer wil fill you with lots of fun and non-boring things to do YOU FUCKING LOSERS!!!!

  • 242LakerFan

Thirty years. Thirty years I’ve been a loyal Laker fan and this is the first time I’ve felt this pessimistic. Even when we were winning thirty-odd games and finishing behind the Clippers I knew we just didn’t have the talent. I could live with that, because we at least got effort.
This team is way too talented to be playing like this. Everyone is playing their best ball against us every night, but we know that and we should expect that and step up accordingly. No one seems to care.
Well, fine. My heart can’t take this anymore. I’m through till May. If we’re still playing then I may watch. I actually don’t care anymore since they don’t.
I can’t believe these words are coming out of my head. But I really don’t care right now about this team.
Call me when Jeannie’s in charge.

    • betamax_13

wake me up when the playoffs begin. if the lakers can reach the playoffs.

    • I’m Over It

I completely agree with you. Didn’t they just meet with some psychologist the other day? Supposedly that made a difference, for only 4 games. That would lead me to believe that their root issues go deeper than we can even imagine. Apathy can’t typically be cured overnight. We’ll see if it can be cured by May.

    • LakerMarc

WOW 242LakerFan!!!!! I’m seriously shocked cuz for years I’ve been here with you and never have I heard you say something like that……that is truly eye opening. This phunk the Lakers are in IS the real deal……no new banner.

    • Sir

      Pretty much how I feel

    • daboss1848

You will never get that call – this is Jim’s team.

      • scared to death

        aye aye sir…

    • Kobe4Life

You have spoken on behalf of all of us 242Lakerfan! I think we should just wait until may to see if the Lakers OTHER HALF decides to show up! lol!

  • daboss1848

This has been your best write up all year Anna. Keep up the good work and go make me some breakfast.

    • Alex P

Yeah make that 2!!! I want a SANDWICH ANNA!!! CHOP TO IT! HAHAHA!!

    • daboss1848

      uncalled for . . . be nice

  • xtro

    i miss the machine.

    • LakerMarc

      ur….uhhhhh……nevermind

    • Kobe4Life

      ???????

  • LakersThe2010Champs

Frankly, I think Kobe is the root of problems. He’s not a leader that you think he is. He can’t motivate teammates. He can’t shoot. He can’t defend. He can’t control the ball, and is a turnover machine. He’s arrogant and always blame his teammates for not showing effort. He’s just an above average player in the league. So he should stop acting like he’s the savior on the team who knows how to perform in clutch. When he’s on the court, the team ball disappears. He takes everyone out of rhythm, and shoots us out of game…

  • lakerman34
  • Jonathan

I always felt that losing Sasha was like losing the heart of the team. Sasha was always the one that brought emotion and fire off the bench. Now that he’s gone we lost a lot of the emotion that sparked the Lakers.

First we let Ronny go then the Machine. Those two guys brought energy day in and day out. None of these other guys on the team have it. We definitely need Barnes back to energize this team.

    • LakerMarc

      Absolutely!!!

  • bigaristotle

Stop whining and crying! All of ya’ll were the first ones on the train to ride when Kupchak and crew stole Gasol and 2 titles in a row. Now you all sound like a bunch of bitches. Three peats are hard. Tha’s why it doesn’t happen often. Everybody gunnin for you every night. Even the fuckin Cavs. Sessions made his fuckin career last night. That only happens against champs. Nobody cares if you drop 30+ on the fuckin Bucks.

Calm the fuck down, spoiled children. The powers that be in the Lakers organization know exactly what the fuck they are doin right now. Ya’ll just get ready to hop back on the dick when shit turns around!

    • lakerman34

If I could ‘like’ this, I would a million times.

    • LakerMarc

Funny dickwad! …..no but really it was funny.

  • lakerman34
  • sam

So……….NOW can we make a trade here please?!?!!?!? SOMEONE ANYONE PLEASE DO SOMETHING HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • jon8334

wtf, i love the lakers and im a die hard fan, but really wtf, they gotta get their shit together, how the fuck does anyone lose to the CAVS they suck so much i think a high school team can beat them. the lakers have to gotta get their shit together or their never gonna win again this year, how do we get a 3 peat if we lose to a team like the CAVS, AHHH this is bull

  • lakers2000

Trade them all for some heart! If I was any of them, I would not want to show my face in L.A. for the all star weekend. Just fucking Pathetic.

    • LakerMarc

you mean bring in a huge fucking igloo full of hearts and have one massive heart transplant session …..those hearts in coolers isn’t gonna cut it. Supersize that bitch ….make it an igloo!!!!

  • LA LAKERS 1

Trade Steve Blake, get rid of luke, play the Rookies, and Get Melo if we can.

    • TREVOR ARIZA AND JAVARIS CRITTENTON

I AGREE WITH YOU LA LAKERS KUZ STEVE BLAKE IS NOT CUTTING IT. DEVIN EBANKS SHOULD GET LUKE PLAYING TIME. CARACTER SHOULD GET PLAYING TIME. LAKERS NEED TO GET MELO FOR BYNUM IF THEY CAN. SIGN A D- LEAGUE CENTER THAT IS DEFENSIVE MINDED. LAKERS NEED THE HUSTLE AND DEFENSE

      • JP

I want Ariza back it was fun watching the 2009 lakers.
Javaris Crittenton would better than steve blake too.
we need the hustle players back

        • LakerMarc

Whats even more annoying is that we have an Ariza look-alike and he NEVER gets played!!!!???? He plays a very similar style and when he’s out there, you see alot of the Trevor-like play. Even more frustrating.

      • Coach Brian Shaw

why the all-caps?? are you screaming?

      • LakerMarc

wow now everyone wants trevor back when I was pissed and saying that we should never have let him go more than 18 months ago and ‘my laker brothers’ were trying to console me that Artest was actually a better defender, a larger body, more explosive, and a better scorer….NONE OF THIS IS TRUE.

bastards!!!! some of you deceived me……….j/k

Trevor Ariza………come back home to LA

  • ICE CREAM MAN

DEFENSE-DEFENSE-DEFENSE!!!!!!!!! This is the problem. Why are we always double teaming when it’s not needed? Why does every team tend to find the open 3 point shooter? Why is our defense so pathetic? I saw a couple of plays when we were playin defense, the ball was on the top of the 3point line. Blake was on the block guarding the paint when his man was behind the 3 point line. The ball went to him and Blake being out of position had to run and try to block the shot.

    • LA LAKERS 1

Defense is the problem. Everyone likes to help in the post and lakers arent rotating right on defense. On offense they should not look for foul calls and play agressive.

      • LakerMarc

#1 at fault ARTEST. #2 LAMAR
and neither of the 2 can shoot frees for shit. Go figure that Bynum is the strongest frequent free throw shooter just cuz fish doesn’t get there that much.

        • ICE CREAM MAN

Look at a laker defensive rotation. There will always be someone out of position just watching the ball and not his assignment. I’ve seen Kobe stand around, Blake, Gasol. Fisher moves around but still is WAY TOO SLOW. Artest atleast causes turn overs and steals way more then anyone else we have.

  • Likwidsage

    Some serious Bandwagoners noted.
That said, Looking forward to Lakers after all-star break. As I’ve said from pre-season, the only teams that play serious before all star break are the ones that feel they have something to prove.

    • LakerMarc

well the way the Lakers are playing they have something to prove! Dopn’t you feel that the Lakers should instill and pound in the competition’s minds that they are #1, the best, a tough team, and here to do it again….none of that has been demonstrated!

  • GreenPuke
  • remy

the lakers should be ashamed and embarrassed. they should just put a grocery bag over their head when they come back to L.A. I’m a lakers fan, but i’m ashamed and embarrassed to even go to school. BUT haters and critics can laugh right now, we will laugh in June

    • LakerMarc

I sure hope so!!! Not a hater by choice.

  • DCLakeshow

Like it’s been said… I too am anxious to see how the Lakers perform after the AllStar break. I certainly don’t enjoy losing these kinds of games (they’re embarrassing) BUT I haven’t forgotten how me entered the playoffs last year, playing GOD AWFUL basketball, but turning it around when it mattered.

On another note, I am glad that this is Phil’s last year, because this team has really embodied his discontent for regular season play, and carefree attitude. I have to ask…does he really even coach anymore? OR…does he just allow the veterans to police themselves, occasionally shooting them a snarky look. Phil….You’ve been great, but as a great man (I believe his name was Deron Williams)…”yo A$$ has got’s to go.”

    • LakerMarc

Yes and as a matter of fact, their last reg season game was a loss to the Clips and Steve Blake lit up the staples all night long!! Prob part of what made them want him for this year

  • Scarface

The Lakers can careless if they beat Cleveland…they didn’t want to waste their energy playing against the worst team in the league however with that being said, the Lakers have a slimmer chance of securing home court in the Finals with each loss assuming they beat the Spurs in WCF.

  • Robert

When Lakeshow gets the 3 peat this year, we’re just going to have a nice hardy laugh at this regular season. Besides, we’re playing tired and hurt, and that’s not easy for a team that’s played deep into june for the last 3 years. It’s unfortunate that we have so many home losses, but that’s just the way the ball rolls sometimes. Don’t worry true Laker fans, the important games don’t start until April 16th. Let’s just hope for a healthy remainder of the season

  • LifeLongLakerFan

WOW, its so bad she didn’t even write an actual game cap eh? DAMN!!

  • Trade, Trade, Trade!

    Trade Kobe for Durant
Trade Bynum and Odom for Dwight Howard
Trade Gasol and Brown for Melo

    Nuff Said!

    • LakerMarc

And which team would this be. The Los Angeles Cornucopi-ans?

    • MagicJ32

No offence, but OKC would NEVER…..NEVER…. trade a YOUNGER talented player for a used legend? They are building for the future, not today! And Howard will be a free agent in two years, and I’ve herd from sport journalist that he would consider coming to LA in free agency that’s if Orlando can win a title in two years, which would change his mind. And Denver is just blowing stem up LA behind about giving them an opurtunity to get Melo in a trade. Denver would never trade for Bynum? They are using LA trade storyline as bait to get NY to give Denver what they want in return for Melo. Sorry man but truth be told, that we as Laker fans need to be patient. The greatest thing about being a Lakers fans is that EVERYBODY in the NBA wants to be a Laker! We will never have to worry about not getting allstars to come here. Chamberlain came from GS to join LA, Kareem left the Bucks to join up with LA, Shaq left Orl to join LA, Kobe threatened Charlotte that he would go to college unless they trade him to LA. Garnett wanted to team up with Kobe during Kobe and Buss feud, which never happend and Garnett ended up heading to Boston. And now chances are that Howard may possibly come here if Orlando doesn’t win a title. Just be patient! Lakers will always have a contending team all the time!

  • P CLAY

b4 the season started, they were showing the training camps on nbatv. not sure if any1 seen it… if u did, youll know why they play that way. they practice that way. to put the icing on the cake, kobe didnt even take part in training camp. i know he is a vet in all, but be mature about the situation. the lakers NEED YOU. we need him to step up and be a MAN on the court. phil is so used to the mental part that jordan brought ot the game, he doesnt realize that kobe isnt that same player, mentally. he gives the playes too much cushion in practice. they practice very laxxed… and thats what u get during game time. im a true believer that they are naive and trully dont agree with any of the fans who feel they have problems. competition is about 70% mental. they dont bring half that. it looks like we hit rock bottom as a team, but im a laker fan for life. am i am SUPPOSED TO, as a fan, believe in my team during game time! these are mere analytical points of views, but i stand by my lakers as a FAN no matter what!

    • Lakers can’t shoot

Agree, when guys practice like sissies, they will no doubt play like sissies. I never had practices anywhere near as soft as they have had. And I only played in high school.

  • ByeByeBynum

If you still need convincing if Melo can actually help the Lakers just watch the freakin All-Star Game it’s gonna be the proof in the pudding. Make the trade and let’s make a campaign to get Jim Buss off his spot.

  • Tyler

    …………What…the …H3ll

Ok someone’s getting traded. Bynum straight up for melo. Pau Can play center and we actually might get to the finals…If we keep this unit together….we’re done for…..I’ll take the Spurs loss, celtic loss…heat loss….But the CLEAVLAND CAVALIERS…….. This is not even the same team we saw last week…..

    • daboss1848

Luke Walton and Ron Artest and another piece for Antawn Jamison.
Shannon Brown and Vujacic trade exception for OJ Mayo.
      Steve Blake for Tracy McGrady.
      Lakers Line-Up:
      Mayo – Fisher
      Bryant – McGrady
      Barnes – Ebanks
      Gasol – Jamison
      Bynum – Odom

I must be like the 5th daboss1848 in here. Yes, I’m dreaming.

      • daboss1848

thanks for clarifying – but thats more than dreaming

  • sam

Hey Mitch Kupchak! please for the love of god, make a good trade again for the lakers and for their die hard fans please!

  • kobefinalmvp2011

man what a disspointment how could a 2x champ lose to the fuck CAV with no superstar and they the bottom of the barrel team with only 9 win total WTF

  • lakerman34

I was saying it last year, and I’ll say the same thing this year. Our only fault is PG play. Other PGs are having career nights against us every single night. Unacceptable. Fish is irrelevant (hopefully he can prove otherwise in the playoffs) and Blake is NOTHING like we hoped.

I think Devin Harris, Andre Miller, and even Steve Nash need to be looked at.

    • Lakers can’t shoot

No Steve Nash, no no no. Unless you want to win now and sacrifice future potential. I don’t want Andre Miller because Lakers need a PG who can shoot 3′s. Devin Harris I like.

  • LifeLongLakerFan

I can’t believe you didn’t write a game re-cap Anna. I’ve never seen that before.

    • LakerMarc

      What’s the point?……… sheer disgust!

  • Kings of the West

hehe, right when I watch every game of the lakers for the first time ever, they suck ass. I swear, Mitch needs to do a F*CKING TRADE ALL READY! GET MELO, GET HARRIS, GET SOMEONE! it’s official, lakers are not getting the 3 peat, I just hope the Spurs make sure the Celts or Heat don’t win…Spurs vs. Magic NBA Finals? hehe

    • LakerMarc

No not the Spurs I am so sick of the mongoloids and also sick of POP…..Just go away already.

      • Lakers can’t shoot

Yes, we don’t like the Spurs, but the majority of the NBA, especially Laker fans, don’t want the Heat or Celdicks to win. Why? We want LeBron to fail his goal of winning championships. We don’t want Boston to extend the lead on us in championship banners.

If any team can do it, the Spurs can. I don’t think Dallas has it with Dirk as a leader . I still think that Lakers can cruise through the West though, if they get their act together. By finals time, mmmm mmm mmmm mmm. The East champion maybe equally worn out, if not more due to their competition.

  • sam

3-PEAT! 3-PEAT! 3-PEAT! dammit! that’s what we want to see this year, its Phil Jackson’s last year to coach so please lets make this a good ending to his legendary coaching career. I STILL BELIEVE!!!!!!!!!!

    • LakerMarc

Sam I really want to believe

  • xtro

    panic time.

  • 151rummer

i was a believer that we should be patient with Bynum, but i think he really doesnt have the heart or passion to play all 82 games with the kind of effort that a dominat big man should! its like he decided tht he would go ahead and play in the NBA since hes big and he figured he will make alot of $…..dont blame him. But i think hes done w/ the Lakers!

    • LakerMarc

yeah plus he’s never really been great at playing a full season and maybe thats why he’s playing like crap! HE’S NEVER REALLY HAD THE PRACTICE!!!!

  • Ray4040

I just punched the panic button.

Makes me sick that after this season we are stuck with
    Artest for 3 more years
    Blake for 3 more years
    Walton for 2 more years
    Fisher for 1 more year.

These guys are untradable with these type of years on their contracts. can’t even trade them to a team that wants a salary dump.

If NBA comes out of these CBA negotiations with a hard salary cap, we are F#CKED!!!!

  • Trade Artest

he got the nerves to upload his rap mixtape after the loss and ask everyone what they think about it.

    F**k him

  • FckBoston

I’ve lost at least ten years of my life stressing out after watching this team this year. They have no pride and no respect for this fan base that dies for and bleeds purple and gold. I live and die for the Lakers which is why I can’t tolerate laziness and lack of effort. Feel bad for the fans that pay top dollar to go watch this team simply go through the motions. The even sadder part of all this is I don’t feel any the players care about our pain and dissapointment. Keep on making rap videos, reality shows and perfumes while us the fans are drowning in dissapointment and defeat.

  • lakers

woah everyone goes all nuts when the lakers lose and they win they think were gonna win every game out there! this is just part of the regular season CALM DOWNNN!!!!!!! the only problem here is that i dont think the lakers are gonna have homecourt advantage in the WCF and finals (if they even make it there) and lakers usually lose when its not at their homecourt :( im worrying about the record and also how this team is not playing so great, cant wait for barnes to come back! and the lakers staff made a HUGE mistake to get ratliff because he’s old and never coming back! UGHHH! :(

    • Tyler

Ya know, we kinda pass barnes injury up alot. We were not this bad when he came off the bench. He and odom brought alot of energy ( from the bench) and made Blake and brown play slightly Better. Maybe, we can make a late season push. But Homecourt in the WFC Is out of the question, unless the spurs ( at this point the mavericks as well) Loose before they play the lakers. I think we can pull together, and make it out of the west, but the finals is our biggest hurdle. Chances are it will be Miami or The Celdicks. I think we could rip out boston’s heart again, but Miami can cause trouble. But to get to this point, they need to play with great intensity and passion…..for every game. Stop looking ahead and focus on the next game in the schedule, and we can make a late season push. If we continue to struggle…were done

  • daboss1848

    Ron Artest for Aaron Brooks.
    .
    Start Matt Barnes.
    .
    Play Devin Ebanks behind Barnes.

    • daboss1848

      brilliant! (some1 wants artest?!)

  • Pedro Oliveria

The Lakers are tired… it’s not easy to go for a threepeat after being in the finals for the 3rd consecutive season. We need to refresh our minds and bodies and have another go at this season if we want to make it big again. This All-star break comes in handy and let’s hope Kobe and Pau are also able to rest a bit…

    LAkers World order STAND UP!

    • TheLAKERSwon09

amen. You said it better than anyone.

  • SHOWTIME4EVA

although, this was an embarrassing loss, and our slump looks bad like we won’t make it. We A GREAT organization that wants to win,the greatest coach who wants to win,and the greatest player ever and i know he wants to win. I doubt seriously that there will be a trade.I pretty sure this team will work out its troubles.it’s ugly to watch but it’s going to work..there will be no trade! GO LAKERS!

  • http://watdadickens.com/ BJ (Yes That BJ)
    • daboss1848

Just heard on Kcal 9 too. They still don’t want to trade! I wouldn’t want a trade either.
      .
But….. if they can get ride of Blake, Artest, or Walton, I would support trades that involve those players. You just have to be open to trades like that, although they’re not attractive pieces.

      • daboss1848

        coherence . . .

  • ICE CREAM MAN

If the starters are such a dissapointment, why doesn’t our hall of fame coach but in both rookies and smith? At least those guys play with heart. We all know that with the starters we will lose maybe with the bench we might win. What’s the point of having a ferrari at a race track when we can’t even overtake a honda civic in front of us.

  • Pau Gasol The European Mexican

Why does Bynum and myself play so soft?

  • Lakers4life

I loooove my Lakers and I get outrageous in defense of Kobe..but come on. It’s not that we are so bad, it’s that other teams have gotten better. They have also seen a weakness and laziness in our team and are taking advantage of it in these games we lose that we should win. I’m trying really hard to hold on until after the All Star break..yet I’m beginning to see the hand writing on the wall. A ThreePeat is going to be reeeeally tough to get with these guys. You gotta have passion, and SOME fight. I don’t care if we lose when we at least TRY to win. These guys are just standing around being spectators. They don’t deserve our loyalty playing like that. We KNOW they are better than that. I’ve been down this road before, and still hold out hope in the corner of my mind…but DAMN IT Lakers!

  • daboss1848

Maybe some people don’t accept the dangers of not having homecourt advantage.
    .
It’s not just that it’s more difficult to win on the road. It means Lakers will accumulate more mileage to their already worn engine.

Instead of possessing homecourt advantage and most likely winning at home for the first 2 games, they have to face losing 1 or 2 games first, on the road. When starting at home first, they usually win 2 at home, lose 2 away, win 1 at home, then finish the series win a road win.

Without starting at home, they lose 2 on the road, win 2 at home, trade the next 2, then possibly win or lose in game 7.

Do you see what’s going on here? Instead of winning in 5 or 6 games with homecourt edge, they have to play 6 or 7 games to win each series just because their competition will be no doubt that capable in every series, should they start on the road. It is a long shot to ask for them to win 2 games, or even 1 on the road to begin each series. The fatigue will worsen further than it is right now (before All-Star Break)

    • Pau Gasol The European Mexican

Don’t get your panties in a bunch wear a thong like me…

    • theCAVSREALLY?
