This should have been one of those memorable games for the Lakers. Unfortunately, Stephen Jackson spoiled it. It’s amazing that the Lakers could score 111 points on 41% shooting and 8-27 threes. How did the Lakers jack up more threes than the Warriors? Kobe had 9 alone!
The biggest problem for the Lakers was the fast pace which led to 18 turnovers. The Lakers just didn’t take care of the ball tonight. A positive however was the teams’ free-throw shooting. LA shot 25-29 from the stripe. The team also showed resurgence after erasing a 23 point halftime deficit.
Now, the bests of the night…
Top 3 Laker Performers -
1) Kobe didn’t shoot the ball particularly well, but had big shots down the stretch. He had 36 points, 14 boards, and 8 assists.
2) While Lamar took 19 shots to get his 19 points, he grabbed 22 rebounds (9 offensive), 4 assists, 2 steals, and 4 blocks. Unfortunately, he along with Ronny had 5 turnovers.
3) Fisher was stroking the ball well tonight. 16 points with 3-4 threes.
Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): Sasha didn’t contribute much tonight. 1 point in 16 minutes.
Play of the Game: Kobe’s around the back spin, wrap around pass to Ronny for the And1 Slaaaaam Dunk!
What to look for next game: Look for the Lakers to come out smoking hot. But then blow the lead, and come back in the end. Pretty much the complete opposite of tonight’s game vs GS.
Game is Monday @ 7:30 PM (KCAL, FSBA).
