The Lakers 9 game win streak against the Warriors has come to an end. I’m pretty confident it would be different if Kobe hadn’t got hurt in the fourth. Seemingly every play after that benefited the Warriors. Kobe missing jumpers, Kobe getting beat off the dribble, and Ariza forced to play in crucial minutes for Kobe.
Overall, it was a game of streaks. Lakers had their runs, so did the Warriors. The Lakers had 20 turnovers and only shot 42%. What kept the game close was the Lakers 53 rebounds (17 offensive) and getting to the stripe 37 times. Great job by the bigs tonight on the boards. Now, the bests of the night:
Top 3 Laker performers:
1) Andrew Bynum was getting praised all night by the ESPN crew—and he showed us why. 17 points on 8-10 shooting. 16 rebounds and a block, only 1 turnover too.
2) Derek Fisher played terrific defense all night. He also scored 16 points and got 3 steals.
3) Lamar came through tonight and was the Lakers best +/- guy. When he was in the game, the Lakers were +6 over the Warriors. He finished with 17 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals.
Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest):
Vlad Rad looked lost and slow. 4 turnovers in 12 minutes won’t get it done. The +/- also shows as he was the worst at -6.
Key play of the game: Kobe’s alley oop to Bynum for the throw down!
What to look for next game: An easy W. This one shouldn’t even be close vs the Clippers. Game is Sunday night @ 6:30 PM.
