kobedurant.jpgThe Lakers first game without Bynum was tonight. Too bad it won’t be the last. The Lakers barely won in Seattle, handing the Sonics their 28th loss of the season. It was an ugly win for the Lakers as they decided not to play defense tonight. The effects of Bynum were shown tonight as the Lakers gave up 55 rebounds, and only had 4 blocks.

The good news for the Lakers—only 8 turnovers in 53 minutes of play. The Lakers had 5 players in double figures, but Kobe didn’t help get others involved tonight. He took 44 shots in 42 minutes. The Lakers need to move the ball better if they want to win these next few games. Now, the bests of the night:

Top 3 Laker performers:

1) While Kobe took tons of shots, he did shoot a good percentage and poured in 48 points including many in the overtime. Only 1 turnover tonight, unfortunately at the end of regulation.

2) Odom shot 3-15 tonight, but added 14 rebounds, 7 assists, a steal and a block. He did the facilitating tonight while Kobe hoisted.

3) Farmar continues his superb play. 5-6 FGs, 4 assists, 0 turnovers. Good game Jordan!

Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): I can’t clearly name a player that was the STD tonight. Our overall team defense was the STD. 121 points to the Sonics?

Key play of the game
: Luke to Kobe on the break for the one handed jam!

What to look for next game: I don’t know what to expect. Suns are hurt, but so are we. Game is Thursday night @ 7:30 PM (TNT).

I don’t know if i’m happy with the win or disappointed that everyone else except for kobe didn’t come prepare. we can’t afford having kobe scoring 40+…we got to play better as a unit of one, we got to step it up!

  • Ignard

Lamar clearly was the STD of the game. Yeah he rebounded well but, come on, i’m still shaking after THAT last three point attempt. Lamar needs to STEP UP and do more, alot more.
    8 weeks of this.

  • ab17

    i agree..
it was uncomfortable for me to watch

  • lakerfan_24

lamar didnt score much but he did have an overall good game.the defense was horrible. we will miss bynum but turiaf, kwame, and lamar will step it up during this 2 month period.kwame needs to learn how to finish because he has great post moves just cant buy a basket, but hopefully he will improve. a win is win go lakers and beat the suns to take the full lead in the west.

  • Edward

NUMBER ONE IN THE WEST BABY!

  • mplakers

lamar’s strength is posting up…why does he go to his weakest weapon in his arsenal when the game is on the line. i sure am glad he is not one of our country’s generals.

KOBE ON POST GAME INTERVIEW SAID,”WITH BYNUM OUR TEAM IS A CHAMPIONSHIP CALIBER TEAM, OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH HIM, I HOPE HE GETS WELL SOON.”

THIS IS IT EVERYBODY! KOBE IS SOLD ON THE LAKERS’ PRODUCT ONCE AGAIN AND THAT CAN ONLY MEAN ONE THING! THERE WILL BE ANOTHER BANNER HERE BEFORE KOBE RETIRES, PROVIDED EVERYBODY STAYS HEALTHY.

WE ARE IN FIRST PLACE IN THE WEST…I HOPE BYNUM, SASHA, VLAD RAD, AND CHRIS MIHM ALL COME BACK SOON SO WE CAN CONTINUE TO BE A JUGGERNAUT!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LAKEEERRRRSSSS! I’LL BE PULLING FOR YOU GUYS DURING OUR INJURY STRETCH. EVERYBODY GET WELL SOON.

yeah, #1 in the west… i think the lakers will be in good shape to take againt phx on thursday

  • e

STD of the game would be kwame…i know he was 3-4 shooting but did you see what happened bcuz of him today? collison was putting in everything after getting a rebound…and on the high pick and rolls, kwame never got back in time to guard his man and in fact got in the way of fisher when he rotated over ea time, what he should do is rotate over till fisher gets back and then run back to his own guy

  • http://thelakersnation.com kb24 4life

hey steve, are you sure that the phx game is going to be broadcasted on kcal ???? the game is at home right??? :S

  • hellbydante

looks like we will see strings of kobe’s greatness during bynum’s absence… the lakers r playing for a championship.. i dun think they care too much about the standings in the conference… they dun win games for that purpose… Go Lakers!!

  • lalakerfan

how bout we change ‘key play of the game’ to ‘most exciting play of the game’ because obviously that’s what the kobe dunk was. as for the ‘key play of the game’ i’d like to think it’s a play that’s game changing – a momentum swinger, and as for tonight’s game, the key play of the game was kwame hitting his last two free throw attempts and somebody on the sonics missing two of his to keep us in it at the end.

now with that said, tonight’s std is everyone on this team. yes, including kobe – he contributed to this dysfunctional unit. he came out too aggressive, looking to score everytime he touched the ball.

this game shows how valuable bynum is to this team, especially on the defensive end. if he played this game, you can eliminate the nick collison put backs and all but 1 or 2 offensive rebounds by the sonics. bynum is SOOOOOOOOOO crucial to our success thus far this season. he makes a difference in the win/loss column.

Kobe is by far the most entertaining , the most graceful, the most clutch player in the league. but most valuable? it’s hard to argue in favor of that after this game. kobe can definitely score at will. he can go 1 on 5 on offense, but no way can he go 1 on 5 on defense. w/ out bynum, lakers have no defense. it all starts from the interior. if you have a weak interior d, teams can drive in and score or drive in, you collapse, they kick out and score.

this thursday’ game vs. phx should be a better indication of how different a team we are without bynum since we’ve beaten them twice so far this year and the thursday game isn’t the 2nd game of a back to back. also, it’s at home, we have 3 days rest going in.

will we be watching 8 weeks of brokeback mountain games? i don’t know. will we be watching 8 weeks of the los angeles kobe? we’ll see

    bynum = mvp
    bryant = megcp

  • Lakerson24

Who’s is #1 Baby…LA that’s right, i’m so happy that we got here at #1 even if the season is far from over, tonight we are #1, gr8 game from the team…Now bring me Phx!

Man thank god we have kobe!!!! he was unbelievable out there (lakernation were are seeing brilliance out there from him). No starter other than him could buy a shot, thats why he only had 2 assists. LO should be banned from taking 3′s and pj please start ariza over walton and keep playing crit even when sasha comes back, that boy is getting better every game. Overall it was a back to back game and its a win and we’ll take it. Do whatever it takes to win on thursday…

  • MILO

Id also like to say that i kinda was to harsh on LO for what happened to Bynum i vaguely remember how Kwame got injured and i think it involved Kobe charging into the defender so i take back what i said yesterday. And the Lakers are going to go thru some tough times w-out Drew so im not going to contribute into pointing the finger at someone as the STD it’s going to take some time for them to adjust i just hope that Kwame can keep Amarre out of the game with his defense…

  • two0one7

Are you kidding me? Anybody who watched the game would know that Kwame/LO were the STD by far. LO/Kwame were utterly awful today. Absolutely no interior D or rebounding. How do you let Nick Collison go for 24/18? Then LO shoots 3/15? Inexcusable.

  • http://thelakersnation.com kb24 4life

    hey guys did you noticed???
    kwame got a double-double :O
    WOW!!!!
    10 pts, 10 reb and 2 clutch free-throws…

  • kb24mvp

man kwame couldnt do much cuz of foul trouble and he was big for us in that over time,we were down 4 with like 2mins left and he went to the free throw line and hit NOT1 but 2fts.i think the whole std with the team D was on the money 121? to sea ill let it slip cuz bynum just got hurt and they didnt know until like a few hrs until the gm when he was going to come back if he was,and they had no time to plan for the gm.these 2 days wee have will help us to get back semi normal.good thing we have played the toughest stretch of schedule over these next 6-8weeks/15-20gms bynum is going to miss we only play about 5-7 gms that are considerd tough(spurs, mavs, suns, nuggs, det)

    GOOOOOOOOOOOLAKERS!!!!!!!NUMBER1 IS SWEEEEEEEEETTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am the greatest analyst thats not known

I said Lakers and Sonics was gonna be a close game on Sunday

still nobody reconizes my brilliant post

  • LA_ALL_DAYak

kobe will have too put this team on his back for 8 weeks…losing bynum is a HUGE loss. lakers will need to hang on to a top 3-4 seed in order too make a run.

  • Neo-Laker Era

I seriously think people need to stop bashing Kwame. We know he’s not in there to score, and besides, he only took four shots…and made three! Those last two free throws he shot looked like he had been shooting 80% his whole career! Haha! You have to remember he is still playing with a bad knee and badly swollen ankle. If any of you paid attention to Joel and Stu, you would know that his ankle is ALWAYS swollen. They talk about it often. So I say people need to seriously chill the f*** out and get off Kwame’s back. He’s all we have as far as legit centers go while Bynum is out. More power to you, Kwame!

As for that last three by Lamar, good god, I almost had a heart attack. I HATE when he shoots threes, but still, we need him more than ever now.

  • ab4sure

[Comment ID #22237 Will Be Quoted Here]

What is your trip Milo??? I gave up on kobe recanting a long time ago. Didn’t know it was still festering in your mind. And your bringing the haters line back. You need to chill. Using the haters line is for those who play victims and i didn’t think you were one of them.

  • SILO

    KOBE BRYANT GAME WINNER!

  • Michael_23

Collison had a huge night because Kwame kept roaming around pass the 3 point area guarding a PG leaving leaving the paint open.

I expected a tough game tonight without Drew and being a back 2 back game.

I am so worried now how the Lakers are going to fare against .500 teams. Remember last year guys. The last 2 months of that season, the Lakers won ONLY 1 game against a .500 team.

  • e

[Comment ID #22238 Will Be Quoted Here]

yeah seriously…i agree bynum is extremely crucial to this team…defensively and offensively, BUT mvp?? i dont think so…think about it, bynum can play defense on the big guys and blocks shots..but can he deny guards?? of course not..we see the impact the lakers are having without him, now imagine a situation where kobe was out for 8 weeks..i doubt bynum could carry the team to the championships…lakers – bynum = kicked out in the first round in the playoffs…lakers – kobe = no playoffs…kobe = mvp esp with bynums help

  • Roscoe

[Comment ID #22233 Will Be Quoted Here]

No, Kobe is the MVP because if we lost him for more than 8 weeks would lose more games than we will with Bynum out.

Forget about Kwame stepping up. It won’t happen.

LO makes awful decisions, I wish Phil Jackson would just red light him on threes entirely, when you have as good an offense as we have, not to mention kobe that’s never the shot we want. I would rather have Kobe fading away from 18 than LO open for three.

  • Swiggle

I got half way through these “thank God we have Kobe” posts and I had to stop reading. I love having Kobe just as much as the next guy. In fact, I have never missed a game that Kobe Bryant has ever played in a Laker uniform….that being said, he played like crap. He shot the ball way too much and stalled the offense just like the last few years. The reason he only had 1 turnover was because he shot the ball everytime he touched it. The second unit was the better team tonight. They either gained the lead, or built the lead everytime they were out there. Farmar and Crittenton did a great job of limiting penetration and Fisher just didn’t. Luke Ridnour was eating Fish up tonight.

My main point though is that if the Lakers are going to stay afloat without Andrew out there, then Kobe needs to get the thought that he needs to take over out of his head. We have a good team. Before this injury to bynum, everyone was talking about our great depth…..So are we not deep anymore? I think we are, and the Lakers better not ditch the team game just cause they lost 1 player. If anything the team game needs to be stressed even more!

    MOVE THE BALL LAKERS….PLEASE!!!

  • kobeshow2008

OK, we won but we looked f*ckin’ terrible. Now i dont think the quality of wins is going to matter for the next 8 weeks but what DOES matter is just getting the wins. if we go .500 for the rest of the season we will have 48 wins. I think if we can get a spot higher than 7 or 8 we should be OK for a playoff run. Almost like the good ol’ days when all we needed was a spot to make a run. still, Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck! LET’S DO IT!

  • Roscoe

[Comment ID #22254 Will Be Quoted Here]

Eh, you can’t say he played like crap. He was clutch as hell, scored 48 and shot the ball very well. Yes, he was hoisting up a lot of shots but that doesn’t mean he’s playing badly. If Kobe played badly this game we woulda lost.

  • LakersFirst

[Comment ID #22254 Will Be Quoted Here]

Swiggle – I couldn’t AGREE WITH YOU MORE!! What you said was right on. Right from the start of the game Kobe went out shooting without incorporating the offense. How many shots did he take in that 1st quarter alone? Now people are going to say he scored 48 points which is fine and all but that is NOT what has gotten the Lakers to this record. Playing like a team, passing the ball around, and having a balanced offense is what has gotten this team to where it is. Just because we are down one man does not mean the Lakers are NOT a deep team anymore.

I also agree with you about the second unit. In that second quarterr the second unit built an 12 point lead because they shared the ball.

Now grant it, the Lakers have not had a practice with Kwame as the starting center so Kobe may have felt that he had to takeover for this game, but I am hoping that the next two months we are not going to see Kobe heave 40 shots at the rim because that’s not going to get it done. All the Lakers do need to step up and the includes Kobe staying within the offense.

  • drake hunter

Kwame Brown represents everything the Lakers are not. Seeing him play on this years team only reminds me of the failure the Lakers had the past 2 seasons and in the playoffs. These Lakers have surged ahead and have become a great team and serious threat to possibly win it all in the West this year. They left Kwame in the dust trying to play catch up. Everyone from Bynum to Farmar have made substantial improvements to their game. Even Kobe the great has changed his style to accomodate his teammates and that has made them even better this year.

Kwame cannot make a jump shot, free throw, layup, dunk shot, and his defense as witnessed tonight, is as good as if the Statue of Liberty were playing out there. That pretty much means he’s as useless as a blind man with no arms trying to shoot a basketball. If your just gonna stand there with your arms in the air and still get called for a foul, you might as well try and block the shot next time instead. At least you made an attempt at trying to block the ball.

I’d trade Kwame Brown for a bag of peanuts and a bottle of Aquafina if someone would make us an offer. He is a failure and asking him to step up when Bynum is out is like asking a midget to dunk a basketball. It’s impossible! He is incapable of stepping his game up to another level because he doesn’t have another level. What you see is what you get. I’ve heard about hail mary throws in football but I’ve never heard about hail mary lay-ups until I watched Kwame play. He literally drives to the basket out of control like a train wreck everytime and throws the ball up to the backboard uncontrollably hoping it will help guide his shot in only to have it bounce off the rim leaving us shaking our heads asking ourselves WTF is he doing?

It Mitch wants to keep the Lakers a float while Bynum is out, he needs to realize Kwame is not the answer and have the urgency to ship him out as soon as possible for any player that can rebound and make a layup. At this point, anyone will be an upgrade from Kwame. The Laker players especially Kobe probably cannot stand this guy and his smurf size hands. He is the remaining of the cancer players that need to go! How hard is is for him to take a seat and learn a few things from Kareem like how Bynum did! Everytime I see Kwame tough the basketball, I just wanna reach into the TV and strangle the FU CK out of him. Kwame you have officially replaced YINKA DARE as the worst 7 foot center to ever play the game!

  • lakerfanJapan

    Totally agree with Swiggle,
The key to our defense and any good teams defense is stopping dribble penetration out on the perimeter which Kobe and Fish did not do tonight. Kobe is perhaps the greatest offensive force of all time, but the key to our success so far this season has been Kobe being a facilitator first and then taking over in the 4th (like the denver game) whenever we are in need of buckets. He shot a good percantage tonight but, 40 something shots by one player is way too much and does not allow the other players to get in rythym. Hopefully they make adjustments before the game with the suns, because if they go with the sonics game plan the suns will destroy us.
But i got faith in Phil and i’m sure they will watch some tape and sort out the defensive problems before thursdays game!

MAAAAAN I SOOOO AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT KWAME. THIS GUY IS NOT AN NBA PLAYER AND HE DOESN’T BELONG IN THE NBA. HE’S A BENCHWARMER AT BEST. BYNUM WORKED HIS ARSE OFF THIS SUMMER. AND IT PAID DIVIDENDS. DID KWAME WORK HIS ARSE OFF THIS SUMMER OR EVEN WHILE HE WAS OUT INJURED?? NO, HE GOT FAT! I WAS WATCHING TODAY’S GAME ON NBA LEAGUE PASS AND FSN NORTHWEST. THE ANNOUNCERS (I BELIEVE ONE OF THEM WAS STEVE SNAPPER JONES) CALLED KWAME FAT AND THAT HE SHOULD STOP EATING SOOO MUCH AND GET BACK IN NBA SHAPE! SNAPPER CALLED KWAME OUT! IF KWAME HAD THE WORK ETHIC AND THE INNER DRIVE TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY THE CENTER POSITION EFFECTIVELY, HE WOULD BE BETTER. BUT FOR NOW, I MUST CRINGE WHEN I SEE HIM TOUCH THE BALL. WATCHING HIM PLAY DEFENSE IS EVEN WORSE.

  • http://getgarnett Che

Guys the lakers just lost bynum and are playing a back to back game they need to practice wtithout hi8m hen they will get used to him, our present team witout bynum is still better than last year.bynum will be back and help us in the playoffs to win a title

  • Michael

Man Im sick of all this negativity im reading on these posts. I thought this was the Laker Nation? We need to be celebrating our 1st place in the West rather than talking about Kwame and Lamar’s poor play and ripping on each other’s comments. You guys are already talking about how bad this team is going to be w/o Bynum yet we re in first place. Until losing becomes the new habit for the Lakers, everyone needs to chill out. If you really want to talk sh*t, take it to a Celtics or Suns blog. That will definetely put your sh*t talking to use and will put fire to the flames our rivals.

  • Michael

Sorry for sounding soft on my previous post but I read everyones post daily and it always is the same nonesense. And I not saying everyone, because alot of people who are true laker fans post some great points and arguments.

Anyways, I was hoping to hear about any credible trade rumors before the deadline. Also any news on the progress of Andrew’s knee. If anyone hears or reads about anything related, please post it.

  • Mr. Juan / Your Warlock

People need to chill. The Lakers will now have two days to practice with their present roster and begin to get used to playing and creating a new style or scheme of play without Bynum….Give em some time and you just might be pleasantly surprised. Also take into account, other injured players will be available soon. And there still is a roster spot open for a possible new Laker to help bolster this roster, even without a trade… CHILL OUT PEOPLE, CHILL!

  • Flush Odumb

    Right on Drake and CJ!
I hadn’t heard Snapper Jones’ comments about Kwame but he hit the nail right on the head. This guy is either beyond stupid or the laziest slug on two legs. Look at Andrew working with Kareem to get better and then there’s Kwame.

Someone above said he had “great post moves”? What BUNK! He is so clumsy out there, on his “move” he ends up falling down and flinging the ball hopelessly at the rim. At year’s end we need to get rid of this loser. What a tragedy that we traded Caron Butler for this piece of crapola!

  • Neo-Laker Era

Who remembers this? Kind of a long video, but it adds to the suspense. Ahhhh the good ol’ days!

  • http://getgarnett Che

Chris webber is probably going to come to us guys,i think he likes the lakers, “We’ve talked to the Lakers organization several times prior to Andrew’s unfortunate injury,” said Webber’s agent, Aaron Goodwin. “Obviously, they’re a much better team with Andrew playing than they are without him. I think [Webber] will make a decision where he’s going to play this week.”

we know we are no.1 today. But, Lakersnation fans are hungry for title. We fight with each other, agree/disagree(mostly), talk too much about dream trades, pray for bynum, talk trash about brown, ….. but have only one goal: getting our 15th championship.

its not a good time to celebrate the no.1 spot anyway, i would rather have bynum and lose this game.

P.S. It was my first time to see Bynum play in front of my eyes on the 25th and he gets hurt. It sucks. I hope we win the game on the 25th of jan, coz’ I don’t know how many other ppls I will meet that day with Lakers jerseys on. I am working on my Lakersnation.com banners to take to AAC in Dallas. I usually don’t like bashing on any laker but I would switch Kwame as one of top three and put Lamar on STD.

I thought Kwame played good defense. Yeah he didn’t block shots in the paint but he really isn’t Bynum. Most of the drives to basket should be blamed to the perimeter defense. I thought he defended the picks pretty well. Having said that, Lamar’s D was horrible. Did any of you see how he helped on the pick only to stand there and let the other guy go pass by him? He did that a few times. His defense on the block was bad too. And 6 points? I mean hurrah for the 14 rebounds but 6 fukn points? Are you kidding me? Wasn’t Kwame like 10 and 10 last night.

Anyway somebody better start slapping Lamar everytime he does something stupid. That would be quite often.

YOUR MAKING AN ASSUMPTION WITHOUT FACTS!!! DON’T BE AN ASS!! WE ALL KNOW THAT KOBE WAS NOT GOING TO SAY HE WAS WRONG. Ever since the beginning of the season he just said he was moving on. Frankly what he said last nite was basically, Mitch was right I was wrong. We do have a championship caliber team. It just vindicates Mitch and all those who believed in Bynum and their team. I couldn’t have been more happy. It vindicates my assertion this is a team that could contend. And it disputes Kobe’s and your assertion that this team cannot contend. HIS STATEMENT WAS A TOTAL REPUDIATION OF WHAT HAPPENED THIS SUMMER. I COULDN’T HAVE BEEN MORE HAPPY. Kobe ate crow with that statement and he did it in a very good way for him. In fact, compared to you, kobe was very classy about it.

Yes AB i did want Bynum shipped out and i have the balls to admit that i was wrong about him but you know perfectly well that you still wanted Kobe to recant on his trade demand up untill yesterday when he said Bynum made the team a championship caliber team yet even when he said in the begining of training camp that he wanted to bring a championship back to the Lakers it still was not enough for you.I cant believe that i took the time to look for you’re old comments to prove that you are lying when you say you gave up on Kobe taking back his trade demands in the beginig of the season.UNLIKE YOU I HAVE A LIFE AND DONT HAVE TIME TO BE ON TLN ALL DAY JUST LIKE FOXXY SAID YOU REALLY NEED TO GET A LIFE AND IF I RECALL CORRECTLY 24ALLUP INYA MADE THE SAME SUGGESTION TO YOU AS WELL AND NOW I SECOND THAT SUGGESTION.I WILL TRY TO FIND THAT 24′S COMMENT IN THE ARCHIVES ASS WELL BUT FOR NOW HERE IS FOXXY’S THIS DOES NOT EXACTLY SOUND LIKE YOU HAVE GIVEN UP ON IT

JERMAIN O’NEAL TO THE LAKERS NOW!!!

There are so many other comments where you spewed your ugly trades and ripped on Bynum and Mitch that i could not count. But one thing that is for sure… Your sure bend over nicely for kobe even if it would RUIN THE LAKERS.

Start your letter with DEAR MITCH, ….

At least we were playing horrible to one of the worse teams. That means we should fix our mistakes and play best against phoenix and our tough next games.

Our D was just horrible and the sonics scored so easily down the post. Either that or they knotted us up with there multiple pick and rolls.

Odom just need to pick it up now. We cannot have 3/15 from out 2nd scorer. He needs to drive to the lane and finish left maybe.

    ab4sure,
are you stupid??? (well it’s quite obvious that you are) i’ve already said that i was wrong about Bynum and admited that i was not to fond of him and wanted his ass shipped out in my previous comment. There for you posting up my comments where i would ask for him to be shipped out is not necesary. Now beeing that you are actually going to drag this out more than what it should be i went out of my way to find another comment where other people are telling you what im about to tell you now.Get a life loser!

    the lineups will be

    fish/jordan
    kobe/javaris

I second the notion or third or fourth or whatever the number is now that ab4sure is the Hulk Hogan of all LOSERS on this website!!!

  • ab4sure

Milo, can’t you stand on your own two feet??? Searching for other people’s opinion means you really don’t believe in your own. Obviously you made a big mistake and feel insecure and can’t back up your own reasoning. Hopefully, in the future you will be more careful and stop hyperventilating in your posts. In fact, when ever you have an opinion, say the opposite… You will have a better chance of being right.

REMEMBER YOU TRIED TO SLAM ME ON THIS ARTICLE FIRST, AND NOW YOUR GOING ALL TERRELL OWENS ON ME… SAVE THE TEARS FOR DRAKE… HE CAN BE YOUR TONY ROMO….OR SHOULD I SAY HOMO…LOL

  • DingleBerry

Yes, the clippers won and we still got 1st place. get them on thurs kobe…

  • ab4sure

Dingleberry, I am sorry everyone piled on you for you wanting that cancer Randolph on the team, but that would give you a nomination for the Dingleberry Award. And then you lied on the shoutbox about Bynum tearing his ACL. What is wrong with YOU????

Also, Do you know what your name means??? I hope so… Dude, Change your name, Aren’t you embarrassed????

  • Swiggle

I just got done watching the Clippers vs. Suns game and I’m obviously very happy. My second favorite team in the NBA is always whoever the suns are playing. This game made me think of a few things though….

I really think that we are going to get a good idea of what the next 25 games or so will bring us depending on how we play Thursday night. We have the lead in the Pacific division, and the Western Conference right now but obviously noone seems to think that will last very long.

This is one of the few times I’ve ever seen where a team simultaneously takes the conference lead and starts to get counted out. There is no other team the Lakers get up for more than the Suns. And I think the same goes for Phoenix.

I live in Phoenix and let me just tell you all….they HATE us. They are jealous of all of our success, and now they are all getting scared. Everytime you turn on the radio you hear shit talking about the Lakers. Every suns game on TV (including tonights) they talk shit about the Lakers. At the end of the game their “announcer” Tom Liander (who makes Paul Sunderland look like Chick Hearn) said “So the Lakers take the half game lead over the suns temporarily”. After they lost to the Clips tonight. Like it’s a foregone conclusion that they will get the lead back?!

Anyway, I don’t even know what I’m talking about anymore. I guess if anyone is still reading this anymore, then my point is that I just really hope the Lakers realize that the team concept on offense, and the aggressive athleticism on defense is still our key to success. nd that we can be very very successfull if we stick to it, even without Andrew Bynum.

Living in Phoenix and bartending here. Where I have to put up with these stupid fans every night. There is only one thing on this earth that makes me happier than a Laker vicory. And that’s a suns loss. Thursday is a statement game. We have had time to absorb this injury and let it all sink in. We know what we have to do. It’s time to go out and show the NBA world that we are #1 in the west for a reason….and we aren’t going anywhere without a fight. what beter way to do that than to whoop the suns for the 3rd time this year without Bynum?!?!

Go out there and show your pride Lakers!

Why do you always have to sh*t about me. Is it because all your suggestions are “dingleberry” suggestions. With all your comments you clearly demonstrate that you don’t know sh*t about basketball. Laker fans don’t like dingleberries, so true Laker fans clearly don’t like you nor want you here. Please leave the site.

What about Zach Randolph? Heard he stood up in front of Isaiah and the whole team in the locker room demanding a trade.Sounds like a man that just wants to win and need a change in his life,LA would be good fit for him(or Boston,Detroit). The Bruiser is what I think of when I see Zach play.He doesn’t fit with the Knicks well, should’ve never been traded there.
