That was just too easy. The Lakers just destroyed the starless Suns tonight.

Shooting over 57% and 9-20 from three, the Suns had no answer for the NBA’s best. The Lakers had 38 assists on their way to 132 points and forced the Suns into 19 turnovers.

Six Lakers hit double figures, with every Laker scoring. Even D.J. got some time tonight and he actually looked good. Din’t miss Mihm at all!

Now, the bests of the night…

Top 3 Laker Performers

1) Kobe was simply amazing! 22 points on 10-13 shooting and 8 assists with 3 steals.

2) Lamar only missed 1 shot tonight on his way to 23 points 9 boards and 4 assists. Also had 3 blocks.

3) Ariza once again provided depth off the bench. 10 points, 5 boards, 4 assists and 5 steals.

Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): Sasha scored 14 points, but took 14 shots in 18 minutes.

Play of the Game: Pau to Kobe for the oop.

What to Look for Next Game: A high scoring game in Denver tomorrow night

Ticket Info: Next home game isn’t until March. E-Mail me at or call 213-221-7681 and mention TLN for tickets.

Go Lakers!

14 points on 14 shots isn’t that bad. it’s the same as shooting 50% on 2-pters which is decent in my book.

  • kwame4mvp

wtf is wrong with sasha? i’d rather play shannon brown… sasha is overrated. bring on the haters…..

  • soniktruth

He needs to be more consistent. But he makes up for it with his defense. Yes or no, fellas? At least for now.

  • Edward

Anyone have that link to the Shannon brown dunk? I missed it.

Actually I was thinking the same thing.. but he was 5-14 from the field.

did marbury play for the celtics yet? what happened? god, that signing was pure desperation. the celtics are trying too hard. who’s next? nick van exel? arvidas sabonis? latrell sprewell? chris webber? will ferrel? yeah, those guys will raise banners no. 18 and 19. CELTICS=DESPERATE.

  • Diehardfan

Forget the Celtics! The Lakers are still upset about last year and I am glad to see them man-up! As far as Sasha I think that he is a good enough BENCH player. His shooting sometimes is really bad but we have to realize that we might be a bit hard on him because of who he comes in to replace. The only thing I do notice about him is his competitiveness even during garbage time. He is gritty and tough and I like that. He is getting better and he shoots like a crazy man but notice that he doesn’t do that when the games are close only on blow-outs. Once he gets more seasoned he can easily be one of our best shooters after Kobe retires. Give him Time!

  • kingkb2407

im glad sasha took 14 shot. even though he wasnt efficient, the only way hes going to get his rhythm is by taking a lot of shots. and they werent bad looks.

Great win for us. As for Sasha i would say its ok that he took that many shots. He just has to keep shooting for now while we are winning so that when we need him he can be ready. I ll live with it when we re winning blowouts. Hope we can continue this streak

  • Ko-Pau19

Great game all around. Even Moustache, S.B., D.J. was having a little fun out there last night!

As for Sasha, I agree with what everyone is saying here. Sasha has a difficult job being Kobe’s backup as it is, but makes up for it through his hustle and grittiness on the court.

Plus you can’t blame his shooting% because he is only doing what he straight up does. HE is a straight up shooter. Plain and Simple. You can’t always EXPECT a shooter shoot over 50% all the time. He’s going to have good shooting nights, and awful ones as well.

As a Laker fan, I’m glad he’s not afraid to keep shooting the rock. A lot of players in the league are sometimes more worried about their shooting% than helping their team win. Sasha clearly does not care about his shooting% but rather will do anything to help this Lakers team get more Ws. And as long as they keep on winning, its something I think all of us can live with.

Off-topic: Can we start a plege drive to get Adam Morrison a razor blade? Wow, that fu-manchu-reverse-curl-fuzz looks truly awful. Are all of his mirrors broken?

  • 1ofMany

id swap your #1 and #2 avery! Kobe had a great game yes, but LO filled that stat sheet nicely and I think deserved the top spot for this one. As for Sasha… not great but a lot of his shots were in garbage time so of course hes gonna put up a shot any chance he gets. If he doesnt step up his game, shannon is gonna start taking his minutes.

PLAY OF THE NIGHT for me was the one handed throw down by Mbenga! Not only because he scored with authority, but the reaction by the Lakers bench afterward. Especially by one Mr. Kobe Bean Bryant! Did you guys see Kobe and the rest of the Lakers stand up and cheer? And it wasn’t just that they were doing their best impressions of Will Ferrel and Sherry O’terry’s version of the ‘Ultimate Cheer’ from ‘Saturday Night Live’, it was what Kobe was yelling out! You could not hear what Kobe said, and I’m no lip reader, but this one was as plain as our Los Angeles Lakers being the champs at seasons end! “HEYYYYYYYYY YOUUUUUUUUU GUYYYYYYSSSS!” For you old school fools like myself, you’ll know exactly what Kobe was referring to. Kobe was basically calling Mbenga “Sloth” from the movie ‘The Goonies’!

That was both the funniest thing and fcuked up thing that Kobe did! I love it! That just goes to show you that the team has great chemistry and that everybody is just straight up baggin on one another on that team! These are all great signs of guys enjoying each other and pulling for one another to do well as the team seeks to claim what it rightfully theirs!

    GO LAKERS!!!!! and GO “SLOTH”!!!

ok are u effing kidding me? do u like hate sasha or something? he played with great hustle, uve go to be kidding me. and hello.. he dunked. since when does he dunk? and plus he had drives to the basket which contribute to those 14 shot attempts.
