ucladuoThis one was a very good win for the Lakers. They controlled the tempo and held a very good San Antonio team to only 38% from the field.

On Farmar’s first game back, the bench made a difference. The UCLA duo of Farmar and Ariza had 31 points in 42 minutes for the Lakers. Every Laker did their part today. It was great to see every player stick to their role, as Bynum focused on Duncan and no one tried to play outside of themselves.

The Lakers hit 7-17 threes after starting 1-9, but a great thing to see is 28 of 32 free throws hit by the Lakers. More importantly, the Lakers bigs Bynum and Gasol hit 7-8 and 8-9 respectively.

Also, while Luke won’t make my top 3, and he only played 16 minutes, he played pretty well, making good decisions tonight.

Now, the bests of the night…

Top 3 Laker Performers -

1) Bynum looked like an All-Star again tonight. 15 points, 11 boards, and 4 blocks.

2) Kobe hit some big shots and did a bit of everything tonight for the Lakers.

3) Tons of players could go here. Odom, Farmar, Ariza. Take your pick…I’ll give it to the entire Laker bench minus Vlad Rad.

Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): Vlad Rad seemed to be the only Laker who didn’t contribute much.

Play of the Game: Farmar to Ariza for the oop! Sure missed those!

What to Look for Next Game: Should be an easy win Tuesday night vs the Bobcats.

Ticket Info: Ticket prices for the Bobcats game are affordable. Have seats throughout the arena below face value. E-Mail me at Steve@AveryTickets.com or call213-221-7681 and mention TLN for tickets.

Go Lakers!

i’m not too sure that the game against the bobcats will be “easy”. they have given us serious problems in the past

  • Austin

WHOOO great win! Definately a great TEAM WIN, and we need to keep this rolling as Boston looks back on track. ANdrew “The Beast” Bynum is really stepping into his own character and is really being effective on both offense and defense. With our WHOLE team back, lets shake up the NBA!

    BTW FIRST

  • the ape

i agree this was a good win. solid stuff. we need more of these. especially on feb 5!

and i wouldn’t get cocky about the bobcats, they’re sneaky little buggers and seem to play extra well against good teams

  • MR JUAN_YOURWARLOCK

Austin you were second so next time type faster. Don’t be so happy about Bynum. Remember he chokes in the Playoffs like against the Suns two years ago. Right now his trade value is high so we should trade him because we need to win this year. We could get rid of Vlad and Luke’s contract and trade him for JO. Do it Mitch! We need experience Playoff players not chokers in the playoffs.

I thought the playoff the game was LO passing to Ariza for a poster dunk .

    Great game,
    congrats to the whole team.

    Farmar, welcome back!

lol at your comment bro. Why should we trade AB for JO. Didn’t you see JO only has 1 knee left. Bynum can eat him all day long. Anyway, effort is what we consistently need, and I know Mitch knows what he’s doing.

The actual person behind the keyboard, who actually did the typing of this nonsense, has become in the real world; The sad story of an ambivalent “Lost Soul” of a typist, who has lost his own identity, chasing someone else’s Thunder!

  • ICE CREAM MAN

We are strong all the way around except on our starting point position. Fisher is solid but because of his age he is a step or even two behind pretty much all other points in the league. Farmar will eventually get the gig but until then whe should probably think about adding a marbury on the squad. If anything, atleast to keep him away from boston.

  • Farmars_inner_Jordan

YEEAAA Farmar is BACK!!! thats my boooooy

  • http://www.lakersvolssparks.blogspot.com Margo

We always have tight games against the bobcats…and with Diaw and Bell over there…they have been playing great…along with coach Brown!Yet Okafor cannot guard Bynum and Gasol, and we know Kobe will have his way with Bell…so we will win…

Welcome back, Farmar! We’ve missed you soo much, and it showed in tonight’s game… a blowout.

andrew didn’t choke, tha was kwame, MISSING SHOT AFTER SHOT AFTER SHOT annway funny story, i thought i saw farmar on the bench at one omment, but then i thought, oh that’s probably vlad (same color, same hair style, both look like borat) i was shocked when frmar checked into the game

  • Ethdude

Yea um two years ago in the playoffs? I totally expected him to be amazing in his first year….

It was definitely a GREAT game to watch. If you need tickets for the next game at the Staple Center please write me a message … vivavegas112@aol.com

Great game,I really liked when bynum was fouled under laker basket and pumped up his guns and gave out alittle yell at the whistle. Good for you Andrew, own the paint.

  • Mihailicious

Good game, and it finally looks like the dude who writes the post game report is actually watching the games, good for him.. farmar is a beast comin back without practice, gotta love the oop he gave to ariza

  • lainok

First off, trying to compare Bynum now to the Bynum of two years ago makes no sense. Second off the best of the game was easily Farmar. Not because he filled the stat sheet beyond anyone else, but because under the circumstances in which he came back, he ignited the whole team. The plays he made in his first 8 minutes completely changed the tone and tempo of the game. It energized the whole arena and his teamates. Kobe will be Kobe. Bynum was solid. Pau did what Pau needs to do. But Farmar deserves the spotlight on this one.

Great, solid win. Hell, the Lakers 2nd unit would be a playoff team. Beat the Spurs and got 2 free tacos. What a great day! If you’re on Facebook join Lakers Fans Want Tacos. Here’s the link: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=58146499987&ref=mf

I hope everyone took notice how Roger Mason got completely taken out of his game, by Kobe and Company! …I’m sure Kobe did not forget how Mason mocked him in their last meeting, when Mason got his prayer answered with a phantom foul, followed by this mocking bird of a “wannabe sumbudy”, trying to show up and steal Kobe’s “Thunder”!

Where is that article writer that said the Lakers should be scared of the Spurs?

    What a fool.

Are you still sore about that loss last week? Dude get over it. Fish made contact with him and I love Fish but he fouled him. Review the tape again. You brag about how you study tape anyways. ROFLol We would have gotten the same call if we were at home. It really makes you seem like poor loser. MOVE ON!!!!!!

  • jCizzle

    ear jordan is back suckers!!!

  • Gasoline

For me Pau was better than Bynum.

And in these days we should forget Bynum and Kobe, and focus in Gasol, since these are important days for him (he has chances to be choosen by the coaches to the All-Star, and all the Bynum talk isn´t contributing to it).

  • MR JUAN_YOUR WARLOCK

    Look at it this way, LEADERFISH;
Only an example of an “Excellent Loser” such as yourself, would still feel an exposed “Sour” need to follow someone else’s “Rolling Thunder”, as you continue to do so! …Dude look around, the only Boo-Boo of a “Lost and Belligerent Sociopathic ASSoul”, on this thread, is YOU!

  • YellowPurpleFever

Great Win today, especially its on NATIONAL TELEVISED

I think Pau will be selected to the All-Star team regardless… He and Dirk Nowitzki, should round out the power forwards in the west.

  • lakerfan81

Mr Juan. That was a joke right? I mean serious, JO? What the hell are you smoking? JO? Why would you trade a talented young big man who is just coming into his own for a washed up, injured player at the end of his career that still has 20M left on his contract after this year? Good thing you are not the GM.

  • enrico

it will be another blowout win against the bobcats. go lakers.

  • PauKobeBynumOdomDynasty

we cant slouch against the bobcats…somehow we are not able to completely shut them down…remember Kobe’s 58 and then a loss cuz he fouled out?

Mr Juan, why trade bynum for JO? JO is much more older and he’s lost his explosiveness, especially after his injury. Bynum is starting to regain his form. No…im not about to jump in his bandwagon because of the way he has been playing the last few games, but he shoes signs of improvement, something thats too late for JO to do now.

Bynum isn’t ready for the Playoffs. He choked against the Suns two years ago. JO has been to the finals and has the experience. Bynum isn’t ready for Primetime. We also can get rid of Luke and Vlad’s contracts. Do it Mitch!

I watch alot of basketball and know what I am talking about. I coached my little brothers basketball team. Big guys take years to develop. Kobe needs to win now and we must give him experienced players. Laker fans can be really stupid. We have to make Mitch do a trade while Bynum’s stock is high.

  • daboss1848

    Just curious . . .
After all the squawking and blame assignment to the refs in the last SA game, I dont see any credit being given to the refs. The lopsided FT numbers, the quick fouls on Spurs starters to take them out of their flow, the whistles to kill momentum shifts, etc.

Yet, not a single one of you Lakers “fans” (and I only refer to those who crown them as champs after every win, trade everyone after every loss, and/or are quick to assign blame on losses to everything outside of the actual team) gives credit to the refs. Be fair – yay refs!!!

Juan, Bynum is just 21 and has a huge upside. JO is hurt and is not a proven winner. Moving Bynum is just silly talk and show’s your lack of Basketball knowledge. Sorry, but coaching youth rec leagues does not prove to all of us that you know what you are talking about.

It’s funny how you say laker fans can be really stupid. The fact that you are suggesting Mitch trade Bynum proves your own point. Let me guess, you also think we need to bring in Marbury? That would be another huge mistake. You seem to be outnumbered on this one so apparently you don’t know as much about the game as you thought. Thanks for being a fan though.

  • LakersFirst

I’m surprisd no one has mentioned the return of Jordan Farmar. For not having played a game in over a month, I thought he played extremely well and was a major contributor to the victory.
