The Lakers continue to embarrass playoff teams of 2008 with their elite defense and great ball movement. Tonight, the victims were the Nuggets, who were held to only 90 points (FREE TACOS!) on under 43% shooting. The Lakers had 12 steals and 9 blocks.
When it came down to it, the Lakers just executed better in the half court set. Better passing, shooting, dribbling, and even rebounding.
The Lakers did a number on Melo who was held to 5-19 shooting on the night (cough Ariza cough).
Now, the bests of the night…
Top 3 Laker performers -
1) Kobe did it all. 29 points on 12-18 shooting and 2 steals to add to it.
2) Ariza was everywhere tonight. Got his hands on many loose balls and destroyed Melo on defense. Ariza 11 points, Melo 10.
3) Bynum had 13 and 13 tonight. He also had 5 assists and a block. I would have liked to see him play a little more defense on Nene. Seemed like Nene was getting some easy ones tonight.
Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): This is eassssy. I was thinking about Sasha when he was 2 for 7. 2 for 11 makes it that much easier. He also threw the worst pass I’ve ever seen with 2 minutes to go in the game.
Play of the Game: Kobe’s steal and dunk.
What to Look for Next Game: Blowout — the Kings suck and Martin is hurt.
