TLN’s Post-Game Report: Lakers vs. Jazz

utahpost125

yoAt the beginning of the season if you told me we were going to be playing the Jazz in the first round, I would have been upset, thinking we had the 4th seed and were playing the 5th seeded Jazz.

Amazingly, this Utah team slipped to 8th and you could somewhat see why tonight. They turned the ball over a ton and gave up many open threes.

Offensively, the Lakers sure took care of business hitting 56% of their shots and 8-13 from three point land on their way to 125 points.

The bench was superb tonight as Lamar and Sasha had 31 combined.

Now, the bests of the night…

Top 3 Laker Performers -

1) Sasha finally came through for the Lakers hitting 3 of 4 threes. We need this for the next 2 months!

2) Bynum and Pau each destroyed the Jazz bigs.

3) Lamar looked great all game with 16 points on 7-11 shooting.

Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): We can end a season on a good note… no Laker gets the STD.

What to Look for Next Game: Much of what you saw tonight!

  • FT

these next two months are gonna seem like a lifetime! I got a good feeling about this year but there is always that thought in the back of my head that keeps me worried. just dnt know if we can handle another loss in the playoffs. we need this, the team deserves it, the fans need it, so lets lace them up and go get back whats ours! its been 7 years! lets get it!

  • gugy

    BRING UTAH!

  • iamthetie

No STD for the night= great way to end the season

  • 2Anush4

idk why so many on lakers line were scared of UTAH…….their tough yeah..but so what, so are we…….we tired them out in the 4th i say 5 games this team is way to focused……..and kobe was right i think this is good for them to head into the playoffs….because both cleveland and boston are tough…..and if we play porland we need that experience with really really good home teams

  • kemiforever

    Haha.Lakers is great!!

  • luke and sasha and farmar has got to go!!! and im a laker fan!

as expected shannon brown has being doing a great job off the bench.

  • BostonBlowsMyBalls

WOW! I am shocked that the Lakers chose this route. I guarantee you the Mavs and Hornets were watching this game and are now doing cartwheels. They can now relax and play with less pressure because they avoided facing us in the first round.

I would not sleep on the Jizz. Anyone saying sweep is crazy. I would love to see a sweep, but 6 or 7 game series is more realistic with this team. Sweeping the Mavs was more realistic.

Farmer and Bowell continue to struggle. I hope PJ changes the bench rotation, giving guys less minutes (unless they are on fire). Lamar, Vujabrick, and Brown were great off the bench. Brown continues to improve and was awesome as the backup PG.

The damage is done, so best of luck to our guys. The Lakers shocked the analysts as well. Everyone was expecting PJ to rest the starters. I hope no one gets injured and we get out of the first round healthy. When are they posting up the official playoff schedule?

The Jizz have not been playing well as of late, in fact havent played well all season minus one stretch of games.

The Jizz are a good team but they don’t match up with the Lakers well at all. I don’t see a sweep but 5 games easily

  • e-bucher

they didn’t have okur and miles (2 starters)…gave us problems in the second quarter and made a run at the end of the game…

let’s not take them for granted and let them break out of their slump…they are still a threat and we shouldn’t take them lightly (sweep???…to early for that)

i actually agree with the “best of the night”

it was nice to see the bench clicking on all cylinders…

we just gotta stop fouling them (kept them in the game) and stop allowing easy baskets…if our D is on point then we should have no problems a/ them…cuz it seems like scoring for us won’t be an issue…

You know I was thinking about this after I wrote it and I will be making Fish the STD. He really gave us nothing out there and just took up space.

  • gugy

    Steve,

Stop picking on Fisher! It’s getting old dude.

If you had the chance to watch the TNT broadcast you heard from Doug Collins how great Fish is for the Lakers.

He might be going through a slump in the last few games, but I am positive when times of pressure comes, he will stand up and deliver due his experience and leadership.

    hah what a joke

If Shannon Brown keeps playing this well, a PG combo of Fisher and Brown next season does not bother me at all.

Brown’s speed, quickness, and strength make him a 21st century version of Fisher – RoboFish. That “swoop” to the basket for a basket last night was an awesome display of both.

    Enough said! :-)

Shannon Brown will be our PG next year , once he learns the sysytem and has a full camp with the lakers this kid will be awesom

The Lakers need to resign him first. He is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year. With the Lakers being over the salary cap, not sure how much they can offer him.

You have to admit, Sasha shot well against the Jazz. He had what, 15 points.

Remember, Sasha is a spot up shooter, shooters are streaky, on nights they shoot really well and other nights, they shoot like crap. People forget this and automatically think the player sucks when they go on a cold streak.

  • mad dog madsen

    Lakers in 7.

  • WifelovesLuke

    Steve Avery= Fish Hater.

Dude, are you a Laker fan or not? Fish is the Capt. What are you like 12. Every true basketball viewer understands that ALL players (especially jump shooters) go thru stretches where they struggle. What you look for is consistency thru out their career. Fish has proven himself and for you to be in a position to criticize the Capt. here on TLN is just Lame. Time for you stop taking up space here where real Laker fans come to get pumped about the playoffs finally being here and you’re just a downer. Step off, lame a$$!

  • Russ

    Lakers are gonna sweep…

no way the jazz get even one game…

even their coach doesn’t believe in them…

    16 wins until the championship…
