TLN’s Post-Game Report: Lakers vs. Hornets

lalnoh.jpg

trev.jpgAnother blowout? I can get used to this! Tonight’s victims: New Orleans Hornets. The Hornets suffered a 29 point thrashing tonight. Once again the Lakers share the ball as they have 25 assists and 7 different players with 9 or more points (Yes, even Kwame had some fun tonight).

In my prediction, I said the Lakers would win if they held Chris Paul to under 7 assists. He had 5 tonight. Even though he had 32 points on great shooting, he didn’t get any one else involved which fit right into the Lakers game plan. Lakers contested shots tonight and played great defense. The best part of tonight – ONLY 8 TURNOVERS! All I have to say is it is about time.

The Lakers continued their lights out shooting. They started 8-8 for the game and finished at 55% and 43% from behind the arc. Now, the bests of the night…

Top 3 Laker performers:

1) Kobe had 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. He also had 3 steals and only 1 turnover. He drew many fouls, but the refs only called a few of them. Great game Kobe.

2) Andrew shot 8-10, was active on the glass and held Chandler to only 7 boards. Bynum also had 9 boards, 4 assists, and 3 blocks.

3) While our starting forwards played amazing, Ariza stepped up yet again! 4-6 shooting and 7 boards. He is always just in the right place at the right time.

Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): Once again, I can’t find a STD tonight. Maybe Vlad Rad? Or Cook again?

Key play of the game: Bynum’s rebound over Chandler and quickly back up for a dunk.

What to look for next game: An easy W. Redd is still hurt. The Bucks aren’t that good. Game is Friday night @ 7:30 PM (FSN locally).

I remember I got worried when Chris Paul brought the lead down to 7 in a matter of 3 minutes in the start of the 3rd quarter lol.

This team is better, deeper, and more experienced than last year. I expect this year will be much better than last year. Say 55 wins would be about right.

i love the way the lakers are playing, in other circumstances i wouldnt be to happy that kobe is way behind his point average from last 2 seasons but im not because the difference is that the lakers are winning… and for me the best play was the one when ariza just tip a pass to coby karl and he made the layup… great game..

  • Steve

I was looking at the box score and I couldn’t help but notice something a little puzzling…..Kobe Bryant, 0 blocks? Is anyone else confused by this? I could have sworn he block the bajeezus out of Tyson Chandler in the first half. How did he not get credit for that? That is litteraly the ONLY thing that was wrong with this game. Outstanding performance. These guys look really good. We are getting out on teams early and not letting up. Fisher makes more of a difference than I think anyone though, and I can’t see how anyone can not be starting to worry about us.

  • T-Dub

All this is fine and dandy like Kobe said, but this the regular season and we play for Championships…What Matters is geeting past the Spurs, Mavs, pistons, Celtics is a 7 game series…With Odom and Walton starting, it wont happen. Kobe knows this thats why he’s not getting excited. ONE MORE TRADE!!!! ARTEST or ONEAL!!!!!!

ARE ANY OF THESE TRADES GOOD???????????????????????????????

  • Nabil

The clippers trade is nice, except that the clips probably wouldn’t do it.

  • Reggie

You guys are crazy talkin about trades. The Lakers do not need to make any trades unless it is one they can not resist. The trade at the beginning of the season messed our chemistry up a bit but now we have it back. The Lakers should go after somebody in the off-season. A mid-season trade probably won’t make contenders either. Chemistry is more important than talent sometimes. Ask the 96-98 Bulls?

  • Rpoc

The Hornets bench is absolutely atrocious.

    1) M. Ely! D-League Level.

    2) R. Bowen! LOL. A paperweight big rotating incorrectly and virtually has no presence. D-League.

    3) Pargo! Ok he can sometimes shoot well (a la Sasha) and dish but that’s about it.

    4) Bobby Jackson. You were a good sixth man back in the day but those times are slipping day by day. You’re in the twilight of your career.

Scott never plays their other lottery picks either:

    Hilton Armstrong (12th 2006)
    Julian Wright (13th 2007)

    Maybe busts.

    ……

How can you call that a NBA bench! It only adds to Paul’s greatness he has that team at its current record.

Besides that, how much longer how can the Lakers get away with Walton in the starting lineup that have players capable of burning him. First it was Granger (he doesn’t drive enough according to Pacer fans), then it was Rudy Gay who was way off. Mo Pete was MIA and so was Peja.

I don’t want to have to see Luke fraking Walton guarding LeBron again.

It’s a mystery why he sucks so much off the bench that it sidetracks Phil’s inital plan of “I always wanted Luke to come off the bench.” Or maybe that was a lie.

And I want to give a late shout out to my man jojo wherever you are. Congrats on choking to the Knicks and giving them their 2nd road win of the season.

Paul Coro The Arizona Republic Jan. 10, 2008 12:00 AM Suns forward Grant Hill is expected to miss two to three weeks after undergoing a successful appendectomy Wednesday night.

If they loose to Utah next and we beat them next week, we could be looking at a new 1st Place leader fellas!!! If we can get a 3 game lead while Grant is out, it is going to be really hard for them to make up ground, as good as we are playing….GO LAKERS.

  • http://thelakersnation.com Tyler

that was great easy cruzin baby yah

  • lalball81

I don’t see what all this hype is about Ariza. Until he can develope a consistent outside shot and improve his man to man defense, I’m not impressed. So far he hasn’t shown anything except gambling defense, a subpar jumpshot, and an ability to finish at the rim.

Still, good win by the Lakers.

  • T-Dub

The one thing that bothered me about the game, is when Kobe was out, Odom was the only player on the court who create his own shot, and all he did was stand out at the three point line and watch Kwame go to work. This wont work! If Odom doesn’t score, at least he could go down on the box, create double teams, and open it up for his teamates. He does nothing! This is gonna kill us when we face the big boys…Spurs, Mavs, Pistons, Celtics…TRADE HIM NOW!

another trouncing of a supposed NBA powerhouse. if you were to tell me last year that kobe was going to get 19 points 7 rebounds and 7 assists i would have bet that the lakers still lose!

not only did they win but, they stifled a possible comeback and trashed them by 29 points! talk about a collective effort.

imagine when kobe learns how to get 30-34 points AND still have his team involved at the same time. if they can do that in the playoffs they will be unstoppable.

it may sound crazy but, i’m going to start “california dreaming” of a summer parade that i’d like to attend. see you all in downtown! lolololol…go to hell celtics!

  • mp or mplakers

it is nice to dream sometimes isn’t it?…hahahahaa

  • David

I think I know why Phil Jackson said he didn’t think this team can win 50 games. Because he thought they can win 60!

As for the trades. You guys who make these ludicrous one-sided trade proposals are crazy. Especially the Artest trade. Sacramento isn’t stupid to just give up artest for a Vlad rad or Luke walton. You can’t just unload your junk for the best player on there team. Kings won’t trade him anyway, I live in Sac and there is absolutely to talk of trading Artest. The only way we’ll get Artest is if he opts out in the off-season. He would then have to take a pay cut to play for the Lakers.

That being said. To be a true contender we need an aggressive power forward. Possibly lamar for Jermaine? Or better yet put lamar on steroids to build up that skinny frame of his. This team is good but would never beat the Spurs, celtics, or pistons in a 7 game series.

  • gugy

I agree that the Lakers are playing really good ball. But I am not very confident that this same team can beat one of the top West teams 4 times on the playoffs.

We need one more guy. Either Artest or a strong veteran PF in order to take this team to the next level. or wait for the off season to acquire free agents and unloaded the garbage players we have.
Until then, we are just going to wait for that ring.

  • ab4sure

We wouldn’t want Shaq back. Also, Shaq and Kobe shared equally in the problems between them, and Phil didn’t really help resolve that relationship. Phil and Kobe left on bad terms and Phil dissed kobe in his book. They get along now because they realize they need each other to win.

  • shortdiezel

Obviously this was a GREAT win not only for the standings but mentally for the team as well..

BYNUM is playing out of control.. him and Farmar are the future of this team and I hope the organization realizes that.. and acts accordingly..

I am also VERY impressed with Kobe.. no talks of being traded.. he is all about the team right now..

Odom.. he needs to get more aggressive.. every game he misses lay ups.. go up with 2 hands and THROW IT DOWN

Kwame Brown? It was nice knowing you..

Luke Walton is a good role player but I really think ARIZA should be a starter.. Luke is more of a facilitator and that is what the 2nd rotation needs.. ARIZA obviously is a better defender which is what we need in the starting line up since that is when the opposition’s best players are on the court.. In addition, since he is a slasher and really doesn’t create shots on his own, he strive with the starting line up because they all can pass..

I am very impressed with the Lakers so far.. they are hungry.. and most of all consistent..

    he was wearing 8

    great game.

kwame, vlad and picks for artest and money NOW

kings get 9 mil at end of year, streaky shooter, and some young players

we get a guy, when properly motivated and healthy, is like a bruce bowen + light dennis rodman – rebounding, defensive machine

our bench would be deeper, with ariza and walton both coming off the bench.

vlad won’t be missed. we’ll still have the machine

and kwame? if we can get artest, with him, then that trade for caron will be worth it.

  • T-Dub

I like the trade but Sac is too stubborn to help the Lakers. Artest can opt out after this year, so I think the only way it can happen is if Artest tells the kings he’s leaving and advise them to trade him and get compensation.

All I have to say is LAKERS vs PISTONS

    NBA Finals

  • RC

IMO the Lakers are in the overall league top 5. Bynum has blossomed in to a full blown NBA center with talent and smart play. Kareem has done a fantastic job in coaching Bynum. I also like KBs excellent team play and leadership. If we could ever have a player coach I think it would be KB.

The bench is doing way better than expected and I plan on seeing this team in the finals. No trades necessary!

    Go Lakers!!!!!

[Comment ID #21800 Will Be Quoted Here]

You’re an idtiot! Bring Artest and JO who are both injured and now you want fat Zach Randolph who doesn’t play any defense. First of all if you know anything, you should be aware that Sac will never trade Artest to their division rivals the Lakers. The only way Artest comes over is if he opts out and takes a pay cut.

Secondly JO, is due to make over $40M the next two years ($20M/year) so having him and Kobe on the same squad in one year would hog most of the cap space and we need to resign Bynum to an extension probably and the end of this year or next year (how could we do that with JO’s big a** contract?).

Zach Randolph – the guy doesn’t play any defense.

God, I think your dumber than Phantom. You have to be the worse GM.

  • T-Dub

Lakersfirst, YOU ARE THE BIGGEST IDIOT if you think LO will ever be anything more than he’s been the last 9 years. And if you want to pay him 14mil a year, you deserve to KNICK job as GM A$$hole! Zack Randolph has already taken LO to school numerous time!

  • T-Dub

One other thing, LO doesn’t play defense, boxout, score, create. All he does is stand around like a retard for 14mil a year. At least Zack is a beast rebounding and scoring the ball. You can learn to hustle and play D, but if you’ve always been a cremepuff, you cant learn to tough…LO!!!!

  • RDLAKB24

believe me i live in jersey and all ma friends are KNicks fans so i watch a lot of games and we (LAKERS) dnt want Randolph Odom is so much more efficent Randolph shoots every time he gets the ball its unbelieveable.. we dont anyone who has anything to do with the Knicks orginaztion

  • lalball81

Living in Portland, there’s no way in Hell I want Randolph on the Lakers. He’d start off well then screw up everything. His selfish, immature behavior could derail the Lakers’ season. We’re much better off with “Z-Bo” in New York. Playing on the most mismanaged team in history suits him.

[Comment ID #21817 Will Be Quoted Here]

If the lakers got JO they would be over the luxury tax. That means what ever they spend in future signings you they would pay a tax of the same amount. So when they extend Bynum lets say for 10 million a year for example(idk what they will pay) they will have to pay 10 million more becuase they will have a luxury tax. So basically they would be paying Bynum 20 million a year. I don’t think the lakers want to do that do you???

T-Dub – Not only are you an a**hole, your stupid as well. People who have lived in Portland and NY even admitted that they would prefer Odom over Randolph. You and DingleBerry (obviously your bed buddy) are the only two morons that would take Randolph over Odom. God you’re pathetic. If you think Randolph is beter than Odom you’re a terrible GM.

You should be in bed with Isaiah who thought Randolph would make the Knicks better. Randolph can’t play with a big center next to him, which is why he doesn’t play well with Eddy Curry. If he can’t play well with Eddy Curry, what makes you THINK he’s going to play well next to Bynum. Furthermore, if Randolph is go great, why are the Knicks trying to trade him to Milwaukee after only half a year of being on the team? PLEASE USE THAT LITTLE BRAIN YOU HAVE AND THINK!!!

  • LakersFirst

[Comment ID #21820 Will Be Quoted Here]

Ab4sure – WELL SAID! Obviously the little boys in this room don’t understand the NBA and finances. In addition, the Lakers will still need to extend other players such as Turiaf, Farmar, and Ariza (Ariza has one year left on his contract), but these morons don’t understand the luxury tax situation and the Lakers will be paying salary tax up the a** if they take JO and his bloated contract.

  • T-Dub

Lakersfirst and Ab4sure…if you nitwits enjoy being the 4th or 5th best team in the west, getting knocked out of the playoffs in the first and second round, and staying under the luxury tax, then enjoy…no rings!!! its already proven that you need 3 all-star caliber players to win a ring. The Lakers have ONE! And only BYNUM has potential to be in 2 or 3 yrs. I do understand how the luvury tax and free agent system work dummies, but unlike you idiots, I agree with Kobe…its time to win now! Yes, with Kobe they can be a 4 seed, but thats it…You’ll see by the trade deadline how Luke, Lamar and the other scrubs start falling off, then you a$$hole will be screaming TRADE!!!!!!!

  • T-Dub

as far as caproom, no contending team has it and neither will the lakers as long as they have Kobe. Bottom line, this is LA, we play for championships period! spend some money, bring in some allstar talent and thats it… I hate people who think they’re so smart by complicating the simplest things!!!

  • BringDFishBack

I’d say the STD should go to the guy who was responsible for 2 straight shot clock violations, almost 3 but Odom bailed him out on the 3rd. I guess that’s not allowed on TLN though.

Where did you drag me into this T-Dub?? I was just answering Dingleberry about the luxury tax. Did you even read what I said???
I have my opinions on your Randolph proposal but decided on not sharing them. But since you drag me into this let me just say you were the first one to suggest trading for Randolph. YOu imbecile

    im·be·cile

NO WAY WOULD THE LAKERS TRY TO GET RANDOLPH LET ALONE TRADE LAMAR FOR HIM. HE IS A TEAM KILLER IN PORTLAND AND HAS MADE THE SITUATION WORSE IN NY. I could say more but time is limited.

As far as cap room.. i wasn’t talking about that i was talking about the luxury tax, so i am thinking you don’t know about this like you said you did. Look at the past champions…none were way over the luxury tax. Spurs, heat, detroit lakers…. facts don’t support your assertions… Teams can win ships and not have to pay millions over the luxury tax.

  • ignard

Wow! If the season ended today, we’d have home court over the Spurs.

  • T-Dub

Ab4sure…thinking you’re intelligent because you read a book…the word of the day is common sense…Zack Randolph came into this league ballin more than Lamar ever has. He left one disfunctional situation in Portland to another in NY. The Knicks were beyond help when he got there. All he needs is stable environment, great coach, best player in the league…Sounds like the Lakers to me…Championship!

  • LakersFirst (Change) (Close)

[Comment ID #21834 Will Be Quoted Here]

Zach Randolph was the reason for his disfunctional situation in Portland and what makes you think he’s contributed to any success in NY. Their record is basically the same as last yer (BAD!!). Zach Randolph was brought to NY to make them better and he has NOT done that because he can’t play with a big man, such as Eddy Curry (why do you think they bench Randolph because he has no heart). As I questioned earlier, what makes you think Randolph could play next to Bynum if he can’t even play next to Curry?

Furthermore, if Randolph is having such a positive impact in NY, why are they trying to trade his a** to Milwaukee?? Answer: Because he is HAVING NO POSITIVE IMPACT. They are trade Randolph after him being there half a season. That communicates to the rest of the world that he is not a good team player (again, use “common sense”).

  • kobe-wan kenobi

hey, whoever said that does not like ariza…i dont remember the name

u are out of your mind!!!!!
ariza is a big part of this team, his D is the best after kobe, and he brings energy and he has some characteristic that no one else in this team has (like being a slasher)

    Ariza was an amazing deal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    finally!

  • Ananymous

Definitely, Ariza is a good addition to the team. How can you not be impressed? I don’t regret letting go of Cook (and even Mo for that matter) for Trevor. The trend right now with the lakers is “Energy, Energy, Energy”!–which Mo and Cook obviously did not have enough of.

Also, we don’t need Zach Randolph. He couldn’t handle the “Energy” of the Lakers anyways. If anything, we need a backup Center (a younger one at that) for Bynum. Dispose of Mihm (though I guess he’s still okay) and Kwame … ughh, I’m gagging.

    leaderfish,

here are the four highest fg percentages in the league…biedrins, bynum, howard, chandler.

and here are the guys that the coach would draw up a game winning shot for instead of those guys.

baron davis over biedrins, kobe bryant over bynum, rashard lewis over howard, and chris paul over chandler.

can we stop talking about fg percentages now please? is the point driving through.

arenas is better than deng in my opinion regardless of percentages.

The fact that you guys always talk about trading is crazy. My head is spinning bad looking at the comments in this page, and about trading rumors all summer. It’s not even like someone from the front office is gonna look at all this mess. And when a trade does happen, (like fish, like areza), it’s something no one thought about and definetely something no body saw coming. eheh. u guys are stupid. You trade advisiors should see trades from both sides, putting yourselves in the other owner’s shoes too.

Just be glad the lakers are playing good. We are a young team and if everyone starts maturing at this rate, we should be fine. Championship? Its a matter of time. Trying to get every excellent player in the league to win the finals is almost hilarious in reality. Let’s not try to be the Celtics, get two big players and win. Let’s hope our own team moves on with a lot of energy and be a legit contender for years. Regardless what I said right now, I don’t mind adding one more veteran piece in our team to help Kobe win games. Go Lakers. Go Chargers.

Now I would like to comment on this not so well thought out post. T-Dub makes the idiotic comment, “its already proven that you need 3 all-star caliber players to win a ring.” Really?? Is this really the key to success oh wise one? Then how come, when the Lakers won their two championships, they only had 2 All-Stars (Shaq and Kobe). How about when the Lakers had 4 All-Stars (future hall of famers mind you), in Shaq, Kobe, Payton and Malone? Why didn’t we win a ring then. Did we have just one too many all-stars that year (because you know the key is 3 all-stars)? Oh wait, I’m sorry, we lost to f’n Detroit who was a team under the salary cap and who’s players were not yet all-stars. You’ve been watching too much Boston and buying into that hype. Do you realize what Boston did to their future. Even Ainge, the GM of Boston, admitted what he did. He even said that Boston traded all their youth so that they can contend now, but when those three all-stars are done, Boston is going to be terrible for years because they will have no youth.

Apparently you don’t understand what the Lakers management have been trying to do. Everybody here is saying “oh we have to win now, we have to win now”, trying to appease Kobe, but apparently you, like other people, don’t understand that the Lakers are building a team to contend for MULTIPLE YEARS. Look how good the Laker youth is. Bynum is 20, Ariza is 22, Farmar is 21, Critt is 20. Do you realize that the Lakers can be good and contend for championships not just this year or next year, but the Lakers can be a contender for possibly the next 10 years because we have good young players! Why do you think San Antonio has been good for so long? Do you think its because they have great players that are older players? NO, its because their core team of Duncan, Parker and Ginobili are all relatively young. Parker is only 24 years old. Duncan has been good since he was drafted in the league. San Antonio has been good for so many years because their core players have been together since early this decade and they are still relatively young.

You’re simplistic thinking of “spend money” to win championships is completely incorrect. You can ask the NY Knicks what they think of that solution. Don’t you think if it was that f’n easy, every team would be doing that? And what happens if the Lakers do spend money and go way over the salary cap. What if those high paid players get injured. What then? The Lakers would be f’d, that’s what. I tell you right now, if Garnett goes down with a major injury, the Celtics will be screwed because they will no financial flexibility to sign any impact player.

I question you being a true fan of the Lakers because you simply don’t have faith in this current Laker squad (true fans have faith in their teams). I’m sure you were like Kobe last year screaming to trade Bynum, but now you’re eating words aren’t you. The Lakers were 26-13 last year for a reason. It wasn’t until all the injuries piled up that the Lakers started losing and then their season was lost. This current Lakers team is a damn good team that if they stay healthy, could do major damage in the playoffs (possbily winning it all, they’ve already beaten phoenix and utah multiple times), but of course I think that because I have faith in the Lakers (something I wish all Laker fans had).

Everyone thinks its easy, but its not. I do know that I run a business and I don’t think just 2 to 3 years ahead, I think 5 to 7 years long-term. T-Dub: Obviously you don’t have faith in the current Laker squad, again which causes me to doubt you being a fan of the Lakers (its obvious you are NOT!).

In your feable mind, you think only that Kobe and Bynum are worth keeping (and I be you were one of the one’s that agreed with Kobe about trading Bynum). You would dump our entire bench, which is one of the best benches in the NBA for gambles like JO or Zach Randolph that won’t pay off. You need to open your eyes and see that this Laker squad is pretty damn good.

The Laker team is BALANACED. They have speed, size (we are one of the top rebounding teams in the NBA), good passing (25 assists last game), good shooting (we are in the top 5 in scoring), the only thing they need to do is work on their defense and be consistently.

In conclusion, because you have no faith in the Lakers, you’re new name should be T-LackofLakerFaith

  • LakersFirst (Change) (Close)

[Comment ID #21870 Will Be Quoted Here]

T-LackofLakerFaith: You said that it takes 3 All-Stars to win a ring and now your back peddling. The Bulls of the 90′s had two All-Stars (Jordan/Pippen), the Jazz of the 90′s had two All-Stars (Stockton/Malone), where is this elusive third all-star that brought those teams championships (keep in mind Utah never won a title idiot!).

You’re so concerned with appeasing Kobe but the fact of the matter is the Lakers FO is done appeasing him. Even with the Lakers playing well and having one of the better records in the league, Kobe STILL has yet to rescind his trade demand. As Magic Johnson (who owns shares of the Laker organization) said if Kobe wants to walk, let him walk!

Lack of faith man, LACK OF FAITH!!!

  • T-Dub

Dude…i said allstar and allstar caliber. the bulls had Grant and Rodman who were allstar caliber, the jazz had hornachek who was allstar caliber. I know my b-ball dude. 30 of 37yrs worth i’ve been a Laker fan! I’ve seen all the ups and downs. Yes we have a good bench…yes were a good team…but when its on the line, we need one more player who can get us 20-25points when they clamp down on Kobe and Bynum is overmatched…(i.e Celtics 2 weeks ago)…ARE YOU LISTENING?? WE ARE GOOD YES…ENOUGHT TO BEAT THE CELTS, PISTONS SPURS, MAVS IN A 7-GAME SERIES?..NO! Ok maybe not Zack, just a thought, but one more proven player which we don’t have.

  • T-Dub

If they dont make a move, which they probably wont, we they will be watching the western conference finals and NBA finals like the rest of us. Remeber, we are one Kobe away from being a lottery team. Take advantage of the once in a lifetime player we have, surround him with ballers now, and win now. There are no other future alltime players on this squad…I guess i’m spoiled and got use to 8 rings over the last 30 years!

  • daboss1848

“cant we all just get along?”

T-Dub, we’ve all been spoiled, especially the new Lakers fans (less than 10 year fans). But in 30 years of being a BBall fan, you have seen how hard it is to be a champion, stay competitive, and return to contention . . . Look how long it took Boston to get back. Lakers did that from Magic to Shaq by way of outbidding for Shaq – but those days are over (with the cap rules). Now we are moving back into contention from the Shaq era. Are we a contender now or are we a player away? I dont know – it’s too early to tell. In the modern era, the Spurs are the only exception to being able to sustain contention – because of their scouting (euro and americas), and because they have players who are not money or numbers first. KB is perceived league wide as a numbers first guy. His was the only vote leaguewide to remove players’ max salary. Perception goes a long way to attract players in a salary cap market because u need guys that will take less to enjoy success (Payton and Malone came for Shaq – when will players come for KB). . .

  • T-Dub

daboss…I think the team we have now is because of the stupid moves the front office has made…Luke( 6yrs/30mil), Vlad(5ysr/30mil), Kwame(extended his last year at 9mil), Lamar(13.5mi) when they could have kept Caron at 9mil per and traded Odom instead. Caron(our 3rd allstar) was more aggressive and had more fire in him than passive LO will ever have…better player, less money makes sense to me…players would love to come play with Kobe in LA, our front office is just inept at making it happen.

  • DCLAKER

For those that think JO is not a good fit for the Lakers needs to go and look at the (I think it was ’01)finals when they faced the Lakers and the whole season people were questioning JO ‘s stamina and lo and behold he,Reggie(Miller)and Smits led them to the Conference Finals. The reason he’s slacking off is because he’s no longer playing with the same caliber of players he’s used to(look at Juwan Howard after Webber). Some players need to be inspired to play beyond there limits and JO is that player.Nothing is wrong with his game,it just, one minute your in the finals and years later your a forgotten All-Star.I’ve watched JO all season(so far)and nothing wrong him,he’s doing what Kobe’s doing(along with DF),HIS BIG BROTHER THANG and other guys develope, sounds like a LAKER to me.AB/JO combination would spell CHAMPIONSHIP ON ANY TEAM.THE PACK RULEZ!!!

  • LEADERFISH

[Comment ID #21881 Will Be Quoted Here]

DingleBerry, Randolph is a great talent, but he would be a subtraction to a team not an addition. Look at his history. Portland was dying to get him and his posse that travels with him out of the city. The only team that would take him was the desperate knicks. Has he made them any better? Giving up kwame and Sasha is not a big loss but they are both valuable for their cap space. Are the knicks looking for cap space? Hardly, they will never have cap space the way they just spend money. I want to see the Lakers get better, but you have to really think through trades.

  • daboss1848

Caron for Kwame . . . in hindsight, its an ez call, but not at the time. In fact, I’m sure PJ signed off on the deal. There were also reports that KB was aware, even though he later made it appear otherwise.

Caron types (Devean George, Mo Evans, Ariza) are much easier to come by than LO types (granted he hasnt lived up to his potential and will never live up to the expectations of some Lakers fans, but his value, imo, is highly underrated by some fans here).

To head off any emotional backlash – - Im not saying that George, Evans, Ariza are as good as Caron – I’m just saying that mold of a basketball player comes out of college 10 times a summer.

  • daboss1848

Luke – his value was actually higher than what he signed with the Lakers for. He gave the Lakers a hometown discount. Hes considered a glue guy and a quintessential PJ player.

Vlad – hes the x-factor. They got him at a bargain, at the time the deal was made. This guy was a flat out scorer and an underrated defender. When hes hot, he plays; when hes not, he sits. We have seen glimpses of what he brings.

“players would love to come play with Kobe in LA, our front office is just inept at making it happen.” I have to see one . . .

(RJ: I’m not a Michael Redd, Kobe Bryant or Allen Iverson who is going to get his 30 shots no matter what. If my shot’s not falling, I’m not one of those guys to go out there and keep shooting ’til I get my numbers) – thats the perception.

  • ab4sure

Dingleberry, Randolph is a bad seed. The lakers don’t need any bad seeds especially one with a bad contract. Do you want to turn our team into the Los Angeles Knicks??? LOL

  • pb2000

(Out of context, but I just wanted to drop in my two cents)I’ve been following this website religiously on a daily basis from the first day that it came to be , and I have to admit that if we, the lakers fan a.k.a the lakers nation, aren’t the most passionate ones in the league, then something is wrong!
I reside in Florida, and it felt awful when the Heat won the champion two years ago now. What made it worse is that Shaq got his ring before Kobe did. I remember the first thing that I said when the Heat won was that they were the worst team to EVER WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP. And naturally so, with the core pretty much intact, they were SWEPT by the Bulls in the 2006-2007 playoffs. I’m not sure but I think that’s the first time that happened that a reigning champion gets swept in the first round. And this year, they have the 2nd worse team in the League.
I would like to say big-ups to the lakersnation team, and also tell all the bloggers here to have some common sense and to chill out with all the nonsense.(LakersFirst,T-Dub, and most of all mplakers)

SO ALL THAT SAID, I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO A 55+ WIN SEASON WHICH WILL BE AMENDED BY A GREAT PERFORMANCE IN THE PLAYOFFS. WHO KNOWS, MAYBE A CHAMPIONSHIP!!! THE SKY IS THE LIMIT FOR THIS SQUAD AS LONG AS THEY STAY HEALTHY! AND NEXT YEAR WITH THE ADDITION OF 1 OR 2 QUALITY FREE AGENT, WE WILL SURELY BE ON THE ROAD TO OUR 4TH, OR MAYBE 5TH CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE DECADE IF WE GET ONE THIS YEAR.

You all need to learn how to spell and form a grammatically correct sentence. I can’t take any comments on this thread seriously because they seem to be coming from uneducated four year olds.

What is with Laker fans and NEVER being satisfied? “Trade LO!” “Get rid of KWAME” “Luke sucks so bad! Send him and Sasha out!”

They are sitting pretty in the WEST after a bad offseason and another dissapointing playoff performance and you’re all still whining about this and that. Go route for the Knicks if all you want to do is trade everyone all the time.

Bottom line is that we can’t ask for any better than what we have right now. Considering contracts and speculations, this is what we have and it is working PERFECTLY. Lakers will be TOP2 in the west at seasons end, mark my words.

You have to understand that some of us are frustrated and that is due to the fact that we are die-hard Lakers fans. There-for we are always looking at ways that the team can be improved it has nothing to do with beeing disrespectfull. No matter how many times some of us dissagree with each other we are all here for the same reason and thats because we care about our team.I for one dont question you’re loyalty due to the fact that you’re out of LA and remain very much involved, but like i said we are all here for the same reason. So having arguments about this and that is what this blog is all about.GO LAKERS!!!

    * Disappointing :D

Anyways I’m optimistic about a trade, as long as it is a good one.
I think we are a good team, but we are 1 player away from being
able to compete on an elite level.
Hey we might be playing amazing b-ball right now, but guess what?
tHE Blazers!! are right there with us. Are they contenders?
Exactly this record in January will be more then a memory
come April, So lets make a productive move…

    Just no idiotic ones.

T-LackofLakerFaith: This comment just summed that you DO NOT believe in this Laker team. You claim to be a Laker fan since the 80′s which is fine, but something tells me that you abandoned this team in the 90′s when they struggled and then you probably jumped back on the bandwagon when they started winning in 99/2000.

This Laker team, if they stay healthy can make it to the finals. I am saying it right now. I am convinced. 23-11 a**hole, but yet you still don’t want to believe in what this Laker team has done and what they can do. Yes I know its only January, but they’ve beaten Utah twice, they’ve beaten phoenix twice, they’ve beaten Denver twice, the beat New Orleans and they beat Detroit. Not only did they beat utah, phoenix, NO and Denver, but they DESTROYED these teams. For some reason you don’t see the talent and balance on this team. You would want to break up this team and get useless, WAY OVERPAID player like JO.

Lastly, to say Kobe Bryant is a once in a lifetime player…HA HA HA, then what’s Lebron James (another once in a lifetime player)? I have no strong feelings for Kobe Bryant. He showed his professionalism last year when he threw the ENTIRE Laker organization under the bus, so no I don’t like the guy (and as a true Laker fan, you should’ve been pissed what he said about the LAKERS). The only reason I will support Kobe is because he wears a Laker uniform, but I’m calling it now, at the end of his career, Lebron James will have more career points than Kobe Bryant.

Have some faith in the Lakers if you call yourself a fan!!

Lakersfirst…you’re still talkin? SHUT UP F**K face. You have to win don’t you. Dude…or should I say DUD, you have your opinion and I have mine…there’s no argument to win loser…GET A LIFE! Go find a girl, something you probably know nothing about! I’ve always been a Laker fan and always will…But i don’t buy into their bulls**t when they screw up…I tell it like I see it and you can’t convince me to see it your way! We’ll talk again come June!

T-LackofLakerFaith – Yes I do have to win, because I am competitive. As I said before, you have no faith in the Lakers which proves to me you are not a Laker fan. All you say is this laker player sucks, this player is a joke, but yet you don’t support them when they do something positive. All do you is rip apart the team but yet you don’t the support them. It’s Laker fans like you that give Los Angeles a bad name for being fair-weathered fans. You’re an embarrassment.
