The Lakers improve to 3-1 since the Gasol trade with todays win at Miami, 104-94. It didn’t seem like the Lakers played amazing today, but they did what they needed to in order to come out with a win. Seemingly every time the Lakers extended their lead to double figures, Miami answered back with a mini-run.
In the end, Kobe led the Lakers final run. Probably the best thing about the night for the Lakers was that Pau only played 34 minutes, Fish 26 minutes, and Vlad Rad only 18 minutes. The bench came through today and stepped up. The Lakers finished slightly below their season average at 46% FGs, but hit 79% of their free throws and had 9 steals as a team. Now, the bests of the night…
Top 3 Laker performers:
1) Lamar continues to shine in the post-Gasol trade era. 15 points on 6-11 FGs, 18 rebounds, and 6 assists.
2) Kobe showed us again today why he is the MVP. Not only does he score 33 points on 15 shots, but he also held Wade to 19 on 7-17 and forced 9 turnovers (yes, nine) from Wade.
3) While Pau played solid all night, I’m going to give it to Sasha today (plus Pau will get in next game I’m pretty certain). Sasha helped the Lakers open the game up early with his shooting. He finished with 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals.
Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): Vlad Rad was pretty non-existent today. 3-9 shooting, 1 board, and a turnover. He needs to finish off those great passes from Pau and LO!
Key play of the game: Kobe’s dunk in transition.
What to look for next game: Should be an easy W for the Lakers. Key word—should. Hopefully the Lakers finish this trip strong. Lakers must control the boards. Game is Monday @ 4:00 PM (KCAL Delayed).
