TLN’s Post-Game Report: Lakers vs. Bucks

lalmil.jpg

bynumbucks.jpgIt wasn’t a blowout, but a win is a win. The game wasn’t as close as the score indicated. It was a night where every Laker fan at Staples was supposed to get free tacos by holding the Bucks to under 100. Instead, the Bucks decided that down 10 with 20 seconds remaining was worth fouling for.

So they fouled us, giving them another possession and hitting a three pointer to end the fans hopes of 2 free tacos. But now back from my rant and on to the game! It was another offensive explosion by the Lakers—110 points on 22 assists. The Lakers shot 46% from the field and 10-21 three pointers.

The shooting downer was only 67% free throws. 13 turnovers was average for this team, but better than most past games. The Lakers had 8 steals and 7 blocks tonight and rotated very well to make those happen. Now, the bests of the night:

Top 3 Laker performers:

1) Andrew Bynum is a monster. He outplayed Bogut tonight. 25 points on 13 shots. 17 boards (6 offensive) and 3 blocks to go along with 0 turnovers. Great game Bynum!

2) Kobe was Kobe again. 37 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 turnover, and 2 steals. Stats say it all.

3) Farmar came off the bench and hit 3 big threes for the Lakers. When it wasn’t Fish’s night, Farmar made up for him. 13 points, 3 assists, and a block.

Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): D-Fish just didn’t have it tonight. 3-13 FGs, 1-5 threes, and wasn’t in rhythm all night.

Key play of the game: You pick—Kobe’s oop to Bynum for the one handed jam or Kobe’s behind the head to Ariza for the reverse dunk.

What to look for next game
: An easy W again. Pau is coming off a 45 point game, but let’s see how he does against Bynum. Game is Sun night @ 6:30 PM (FSN locally).

didnt see the end of the game but da.mn..

    bucks is grimey.

  • http://www.myspace.com/halloween_oc Viva Vegas

AB’s F-Bomb was funny!!! LMAO .. good stuff!!!

  • Steve

Wrong again. Fish made some absolutely huge defensive plays. He grabbed some very important loose balls. Kwame was the STD tonight. Missed his free throws. Missed his lay-ups. Didn’t play good defense. Javaris was close to the STD. But Phil pulled the plug on him before he could do anymore harm.

Side note: I would have been pissed if I was the Bucks too. They are obviously poor losers. But so am I, and if the Lakers were in their shoes, I would have been screamin at the TV for them to foul and shut the crowd up, so whatever.

  • IrieVibes

Haha, you can tell bynum isn’t quite fine tuned in the post game interview aspect.

LO is gettin’ all the fkn rebounds. So hood.

  • IrieVibes

Oh, and let me say I admire Kupchak tremendously. When everyone was criticizing him for not trading away a future perennial all-star he stuck to what he believed him and put his entire reputation and career on the line for it. Now that’s balls. He didn’t make the easy move and the Lakers are going to win championships because of it.

That and Ariza is a great addition.

  • T-Dub

Ok…Bynum has officially arrived…#2 option. Lamar..8pts/10rebs/14mil per…whatever. I think its time for Kobe to call Artest personally, tell him to threaten the Kings with opting out after this season…trade him to the Lakers and get something or watch him go anyway and get nothing. I don’t think they will have much choice…Vlad, Sasha or Farmar, 1st rnd pick. We’ll be playing for the championship for the next 5 years!!!!!!

  • getgasol

I’m just about at the point where I don’t want to trade anyone. The team is locked. We’re taking the title with these guys!

Lakers are now in 3rd place (only half a game behind both Phoenix and Dallas) and ahead of San Antonio (5th place).

  • ICE CREAM MAN

I feel the same way about not trading anyone at this point. If we continue to be very competitive but not make it to the championship round, at least other players will see that we want to win and might come on over. At this point, this team has it all…location (L.A.), ready-willing-able to run (young), commited to win championships (up to Dr. Buss to give up the $$$). Well at least 2 out of 3 aint bad.

  • ric j

im so upset with he game last night co’z lakers fans didnt get the free taco! lol….

  • DCLAKER

PLEASE TRADE KWAME BROWN FOR JO,NOWWWWWW!!!THIS GUY MISSED 3 OPEN LAYUPS AND HE CANNOT HANDLE A DECENT PASS FOR A LAYUP.IT’S OBVIOUS THAT KWAME HAS LOST HIS SPOT TO BYNUM.I THINK I SEE JO IN A LAKER UNIFORM SOONER THAN LATER AND IF THAT HAPPENS,LAKER VS.CELTICS IN THE FINALS,FO SHO! I SMELL TROPHY.

  • DingleBerry

come on steve, fish as std. fish had an average game played d and provided leadership. kwame is definetly the std. kwame looks bored out there, barely jumps, and doesnt seem to care at all. he is the epitome of a paycheck player. his next year check will be for 8 bucks an hour at mcdonalds.

  • Thomas

The way Kobe played was almost Jordanesque. 37 points with bronchitis! There is no othere NBA player that could have done that. Thats how much Kobe loves the game of basketball. That was incredible.

  • BynumisaBeast

DO you think Bynum will be chosen for the all star team? He has my vot as of now.

  • lalball81

Yeah, except Jordan did it in the Finals, with a more severe condition.

  • http://myspace.com/lakersdynasty999 Steve Avery

you are all right..Kwame was the STD…i dont know what i was thinking last night. I dont have an edit button, but Kwame was the STD, scratch fish from the books

NBA pros dont miss layups–yet alone 3 of them

  • mplakers

    about the free tacos….

last night while the game was windidng down and out of reach, you can clearly read the head coach of the bucks ask his assistant if they should shut it down and let the fans get the tacos. the assistant vigorously shakes his head and keeps saying “nope nope don’t let’em don’t let ‘em” then the bucks take the ball out and the coach’s are signalling to “shoot” shoot and there went the free tacos with a made three…lololololololol that sucked!

    about bynum’s f-bomb…lol

he was dropping f words all night and the s word too! everytime the camera was on close up he was saying something along those lines!…lol..for some reason he was FIRED up about this game…is it a hint that he is going to come out of his social shell soon? if it translates to 25 points, 17 rebounds, and 3 blocks…then bring it on…he can say the a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i,j,k,l,m,n,o,p,q,r,s,t,u,v,w,x,y,and z WORDS for all we care.

  • http://getgarnett.com jonasjulienjoseph

MAN GUYS WE DONT NEED TO TRADE ANYBODY, BESIDES, KWAME, BUT I DONT CARE, WE HAVE A GREAT TEAM, LUKE IS GOOD, VLAD EXCELLENT 3 POINT SHOOTER WHEN HEALTHY, SASHA SHOOTS VERY WELL AND HAS ANNOYING DEFENCE THAT OTHER TEAMS HATE, CHRIS MIHM CAN BE REAL GOOD ONCE THAT ANKEL HEALS UP, LAMAR HAD A GOOD GAME, AND PEOPLE THAT WANT TO TRADE RONNY, MAN THAT IS NOT THE SMARTEST CHOICE, HE BRINGS ENERGY AND A LOCKER ROOM GUY, AND COMMESTRY WHICH SOMETIMES IS BETTER THEN TALENT, BUT BESIDES THAT GREAT GAME LAKERS

  • http://mydeek.orgnigga PhantoM

I know we are doing spectacular, but i still wouldn’t mind one more trade
especially to pick up someone like artest, i would want to keep L.O.
    though

  • Nabil

can we freaking dump Kwame for a player? Someone out there’s got to want an expiring.

  • http://mydeek.orgnigga PhantoM

I think u shudnt do the std..
cuz too many people worry about it…

Just let the people discuss it man

    good job though.

  • BringDFishBack

Jesus Christ what is wrong with whoever writes these? First off, Fish can never be given the STD. He always doesnt something that helps the team. Giving it to him based off stats is crazy, because most of what he does never shows up on the stat sheet. Second, when did it become a rule Critt can’t get the STD? He plays TERRIBLE and never gets it. You either give it to someone who doesnt deserve it or give it to Cook “for old times sake.” 0-2 with 2 turnovers in 5 mins is a great game!

  • http://mydeek.orgnigga PhantoM

    Stop d-riding
    fish

Anyone can get the std kobe bynum fish odom

Shoot i love fish no homo but stop thinking like that…

Anyways let steve do what he does..

T-LackofFaith: We are never going to agree on anything. Give up Farmar!! Are you insane, he is the next Laker point guard when Fish’s contract is up in three years. You want to trade him for Artest to have Farmar play against for the next 10 years while he’s up in Sac (our own division riveal)? Now, I know you’re defense is going to be “we have Java” but please the jury is still out on Java. There is no way the Lakers will give up Farmar.

The Laker team is set. Have some faith and support the team!!

  • T-Dub

I just have to play devils advocate here… Yes ,we look good, Bynum is ballin, but we’re beating up on cremepuffs. Hornets are are still unproven…can’t get that Celtic game out of my head when they played grown men…got spanked! After the next 2 cremepuffs, the fun begin…Suns, Nuggets, Spurs, Mavs, Pistons. We kick a$$ here, yeah..we’re the s**t. Dont have to win every game, but we need to be competitive in every game.

  • T-Dub

Lakersfirst…Farmar is decent, 10yr starter? no…he’s too small and his skill set is average. Streaky shooter at best. Critt is physically built like Paul and D.Williams only taller…and much more talented than Farmar. All he needs is playing time. Kobe saw the skill and fire in Caron Butler, just like he sees in Critt, thats why he took them both under his wing. I would definitely give up Farmar for Artest if I had too. By allstar weekend, you’ll see that this team is not set and we’ll have this conversation again.

Although an artest trade is highly unlikely because the kings hate us, i dont see why it would be bad idea. If you can get a player that can clearly take you over the hump, like artest, i say you do it, especially if it doesnt deplete are team. I dont know about you but I cant stand being medicore or just competitive, this is LA, conference titles dont mean s***, getting to the finals dont mean s***, its all about winning titles. You can make the debate about trading away your future but the way i see, if you can make your team better to take you over the hump i say do it. The window of opportunities for titles is very very small, and you should do whatever takes to every opportunity you have.

This is short term thinking. Of course you want to win now but you also want to win every year and be consistent every year. You don’t trade away future players to win for just one year (look at Miami). You build a team that contends EVERY YEAR!! This is Laker team is being assembled to win every year (present and future).

As of right now Farmar is the more polished NBA player than Critt and he’s only in his second year. Farmar was even better than Critt was in his rookie year. Critt has potential but he also does WAY too much with the ball and has TOO many turnovers (Farmar did not turn the ball over as much as Crtt currently does). Farmar CAN be a starter for the next 10 years (personally, he can be a starter on certain NBA teams right now). Farmar is very similar to Tony Parker (decent outside shot, very quick, but Farmar needs to improve on defense). Critt is not built like Chris Paul. Paul is way stronger than Critt currently is (Critt needs to hit the weight room). Secondly, Chris Paul was NBA ready in his first season (Critt is not). D. Williams is also physically stronger than Critt and was also NBA ready.

I don’t want to put Critt down because he too has good potential but he needs to play smarter (he’s got skills but doesn’t seem to be a SMART player). Ideally, I would love to have Critt grow to be a true 6’5 player and become a shooting guard with Farmar at the point and Bynum in the middle.

  • http://hhb PHANT0M

    Totally agree…

    and f’ckin suns won…

    Arrrrrrrrghh Its too early.. anyways

Fish should never get the STD??? I love fish but everyone needs to be judged equally. Also, Critt has received the STD against NY, which was a questionable std. YOur always hatin on Critt, just becuase you like Sasha over Critt doesn’t mean you should judge Critt unfairly.

T-Dub. The lakers have played a few creampuff teams but they have also have had one of the toughest schedules and now have one of the best records. NOT BAD I SAY~~~~

  • myriam

Great game by lakers. Great game by kobe who is sick. But i
think kobe needs to pay attention to his health i know it’s very impt. for him to win the game. Anyway more power to our teams, keep winning.

  • http://hhb PHANT0M

Wtf. That made no sense pay attention ?
    How so?.
He is. its notlike hes out doing cocaine..

  • ricky

i think the lakers can make at least one more trade and use kwame’s expiring contract to their advantage.

i think this trade will be good for the lakers.

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=981~1016~308~1022~2792&teams=9~15~15~13~13&te=&cash=

    1. golden state gets kwame’s expiring contract and another defensive minded player because golden state has enough offensive players already.

    2. milwaukee gets a legit small forward that can help them get better in harrington and a versatile forward that can hit the long bomb in radmanovic.

    3. the lakers get a versatile forward who can also shoot the trey in villanueva and also a solid guard-forward who can backup kobe in simmons.

Trading away your future, and thats in farmar? Haha. First off artest is like 28 and quite a few good years left, its not just one title, and miami is a whole diff situation. Its not short term thinking, its smart thinking, who knows whats going to happen in the future. Who knows where kobe might go or were everyone else might go, quite a few contracts are up on this team, and who knows where they might go. You might be satisfied just being competitive, but im not. Im all about winning titles, especially in the present, if you draft smart and make the right moves, you can be competitive in the future too, even if you give away some of your young talent.

  • LakersFirst (Change) (Close)

[Comment ID #22039 Will Be Quoted Here]

Yes, Farmar is definitely part of our futurue. If you can’t see that then you’re blind! Him, Bynum and Critt are part of the Laker future. Secondly, you make it seem like acquiring Artest is a definite championship, which it is NOT! Artest will be a gamble because he has not played in the triangle system so who knows if he will be able to contribute. You want to trade away chemistry that the Lakers already have for Artest who MAYBE will contribute (not to mention the guy just had elbow surgery!).

You say that Miami is a whole different situation but yet you don’t say why? Back yourself up, why is that a different situation? Miami gave us a young Caron Butler and LO (who obviously wasn’t that big of a loss) for 1 title (that Dallas basically handed to them because they choked) and now look at them (you don’t think they miss Caron Buter?). How is that different then trading a point guard who most likely be a starter in the NBA for Artest who may or may not make you better in the short term? Explain?

In my opinion the reason why the Lakers haven’t made any moves is because Kobe has yet to rescind his trade offer. He’s still questionable and because his salary takes up so much space on this team, it is very difficult for the FO to plan for the future because he’s essentially holding the team from a personnel perspective.

Furthermore you say “quite a few contracts are up on this team, and who knows where they might go”, this is NOT true. The only unrestricted free agent we have is Kwame Brown. Trevor Ariza and Chris Mihm at the end of the season can opt out (no one knows if they will do that or not). Sasha and Turiaf are RESTRICTED free agents (Sasha, if he takes the Lakers qualifying over, will be back next year, but if he doesn’t then he’s a restricted free agent). That’s it! There are no other contracts up/

Every year, I want the Lakers to win a championship, but at the same time, I’m not stupid to trade away future players, who can be with you and contribute for the long term for maybe 1 title. The Lakers want to contend every year. You’re the one who is so f’n certain that Artest brings a championship (for maybe 1 year).

This is a stupid debate anyways because Sac won’t trade Artest to the Lakers, especially with the Lakers already doing so well.

You like to think short term, which is not proper planning. Thinking long-term is far more efficient, just ask San Antonio.
