Three straight road losses for the Lakers with tonight’s being the worst of them. In a blowout from the beginning, the Lakers looked pathetic tonight, hoisting up 24 threes, committing 25 fouls and just slow to every loose ball. They were simply outplayed.

The Blazers took better shots, moved the ball better, crashed the boards and played great defense. The only upside was the fourth quarter comeback to cut the blowout to 16 only to have it reopened. Payback will come in April…

Now, the bests of the night…

Top 3 Laker Performers

1) Pau shot 7-12 on his way to 18 and 13. A shame he let Przybilla outplay him though…

2) D.J. Mbenga had 2 monster dunks in garbage time. 8 poiints, 3 boards, 4 assists, 2 steals and a block.

3) Shannon Brown scored 5 points in 3 minutes.

Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): Kobe got lit up by Roy, Odom looked terrible, the bench was useless. Luke was Luke. Take your pick.

Play of the Game: D.J. throwing it down.

What to Look for Next Game: A big game in Houston. The Lakers need to win this game to get some confidence on the road.

Ticket Info: Next home game is Sunday vs. Dallas. Prices are high, but we have a special for Tuesday’s game vs Philadelphia E-Mail me at or call 213-221-7681 and mention TLN for tickets.

Go Lakers!

I left my thoughts about this game in the maybe and “ODOM suspension” article. But I did forget to add one thing, from all of you that watched the game on nbalp, wow those announcers were legitemately the worst commentators Ive heard. Even worse then the queens ones. And the queens ones I can’t stand to listen to. I mean wow way to f ucking bash on the LAKERS on ever f ucking play. Like for example when he said that SASHA doesn’t know the rules of the game. I was like yep for sure dude a professional 4 year vet doesn’t know what the f uck he is doing out there. And how they were bashing on KOBE on 90% of ever play as well. Like all the s hit they were saying about them. If anyone had to listen to these tools like I did tonight PLEASE comment on this message to give me an AMEN. THANKS.

  • Bynums Knee

amen, i heard them. it was crap.

I hear ya on that one. Those two were as bad as the Kings, Warriors and Celtics announcers. They called nearly every play like a couple of Blazer homers. And the one guy, Mike Rice, thinks he’s funny screwing up all the opposing players names. At least Stu and Joel call the game like it is. They’re not afraid to call the Lakers out when they screw up.

  • i0ioooooi0i

anyone else notice a trend with pau’s level of play and the presence of other Spanish players on the court? Pau played like crap against his brother Marc and almost looked like he was mailing it in tonight against the blazers when fernandez and rodriguez were on the floor. what’s up with that?

  • Kenny

yeeeeeeeeeeeeee DJ MBENGA ON THE TOP

  • David

I blame this loss mostly on Lamar Odom. He pulls another one of his disappearing acts. He’s clearly the X-factor on this team with Bynum out. When he plays well we rarely lose.

  • bynumite

Wow what a blow out loss… See we never could play well in portland…well our Lakers need to get over this loss and focus on the texas two step coming up!! We cannot fold over just because of one loss

  • barcalakerfan4life

if odumb keeps playing inconsistent alongside gasoft then were doomed like i said kobe cant win a title without a good supporting cast around him.

  • barcalakerfan4life

adam morrison and shannon should be getting more time bench puke and odumb there all a waste of space i dont know which clowns averages 2 points a game especially when ur a forward.

  • Sean All Ivy

Every now and then we need to get killed by a much inferior team to rekindle our fire. Get us hungry again. We just can’t get too many losses if we want the overall #1 seed in the playoffs.

  • king.manu

we should play dj more….he has become a monster!!

  • David Gamboa

Just when the Lakers are on a roll, they keep falling behind these teams that should be beaten.

Kobe didn’t do much on this one. Looking forward for the Kobe-Artest matchup.

And can someone tell me what happened to Vujacic, after signing a 3 year – 15$ Mil. contract?

    We badly need Bynumite!

  • hibachi

    eat sh!t! fakers

  • FlowDesignz

Horrible… but I’m over the loss.

Hope Rudy gets better by the way. That fall was frickin ugly.

  • Dave

Haha. The Fakers lost again. GO BOSTON!!!!

The Lakers will get worked tonight by the Rockets. The Lakers dont have heart like the Celtics or Cavs.

yeah as if you were on the Lakers players shoes.

  • lalball81

What’s with the Celtics trolls? What losers.

And I agree, those announcers are BAD. I’ve been forced to listen to them, living in Portland, and I CANNOT stand them.

Lakers aint playin today you b itch..

  • Kevin

Game 6 last year is jst a taste of what the Lakers will get this year if they can make it our of the West. The Celtics OWN the Lakers. Laker fans are chuty!

  • JFK-analysis-at-TLN

    why do we neeb Bynum?

if you look at the points that Pau Gasol gets us in games, you would understand that out championship hopes will depend on how bynum does when he returns..and whats up with every little guy dunking on pau?

pau made several turnovers and was outplayed by Przybilla- unacceptable..he might have have 18pts but they were easy points on mid range shots..

With Andrew in a game like this he could have helped us out tremendously on the boards, he could have gotten us 10-15 pts that on a big physical guy could…i love pau- i really do and this is not bashing him, we know who he is and we accept him-it’s just that our title hopes are slim with just Pau and DJ, plus bynum changes shots (he changes our defense..period) a healthy bynum equals a sure championship..and unhealthy bynum- it’s hard but we still can..

and pls can someone breaks luke walton’s ankles- i mean the guy is absolutely least the space cadet could get us 4-5 3’s in a game…but he sucked too..

and LO- he is always an X-factor, too bad most times it’s in favor of the other team..the guy’s focus and attention span he that of a 15 yr old-he is still a good player, just needs to be a more level headed player and not commit silly stupid fouls.

    ok my ranting is over..

  • xtro

meaningless lost. bad officiating. the jailblazers were supposed to win that game on their home court. still, that team is a first round knock out in the playoffs.

  • Msouten

lol the Portland announcers were terrible, mispronouncing Mbenga and Vujacic on purpose tryin to be funny.

  • jason

1 bad loss is meaningless..2..gets you a little upset..but that is 3 horrible road losses in a row..denver,pheonix and portland all pretty much just manhandled us..did we fall asleep?..are we just waiting for the playoffs?..whats wrong all of a sudden?…now is not the time to get into a funk. This laker fan is definitely concerned.

  • roscoe

Yeah I watched it on LP and when the fight broke out they were listing the players who were over there to be peacemakers and he so begrudgingly said Kobe it was hilarious. I understand local commentary is gonna be biased but I mean, at least try to be SOMEWHAT objective.

  • Garnett Pierce

The Lakers will not make it out of the first round. They are soft. Boston exposed for them for what they are, a bunch of cowards.

  • Brooke

[Comment ID #64052 Will Be Quoted Here]

is that why the Lakers beat the Celtics twice this year, one time w/out Bynum

at least the Lakers didnt lose to the Clippers. The Celdicks arent better this year, they still have to get past the Cavs first

I think it is kind of pathetic that the Celtics trolls have nothing better to do than come here

I hear you bro, We need players with attitude, not softies and bipolars.

  • Lakers 24 7

NBA vice president Stu Jackson decided Tuesday that Lakers forward Trevor Ariza would not be penalized further for his hard foul against Trail Blazers guard Rudy Fernandez, but the league was still taking a long look at whether Lamar Odom’s actions merited a suspension under the “leaving the bench” rule.

  • Juilliard Dancer

when bynum comes back we will be fine. bynum off the bench would be pretty amazing though. LO gets everyone involved, but he does more for the team starting and having Gasol at Center. Bynum coming off the bench will bring scoring in the six man role and a whole lot of D.

  • Garnett Pierce

The Lakers will not get past Utah if they face each other in the playoffs. Bet on that punk!!!

  • trademaster 2009

we have room for two free agents, so we need adonal foyle for a big body in the middle, and then one perimeter defender for pierce, bron, etc.

free agents like linton johnson, reuben patterson, bonzi wells, and david noel have the strenght and quickness but not the length

free agents like mickael gelabeli dermarr johnson and linton johnson have the length and athleticism but not the strength

  • ilikebasketball

i swear i thought dj had like 4 blocks. only 1???

  • ilikebasketball

i also think, the bench perhaps works much better with lamar odom coming off with them. a stabilizing force to go to when things are flowing or when they need someone to open up the offense. odom did that, even though he wasn’t playing that well, stats-wise, he still expanded the bench and seemingly, to me, made them feel more comfortable and fluid.

  • ilikebasketball

[Comment ID #64061 Will Be Quoted Here]

ruben patterson was on our team before. he sucks.
and they wouldn’t be able at this point to be in the playoffs anyway.

the laker fakers need to calm down. we are in a down turn, we had this at another point this season as well. right before we played boston on xmas. we beat new orleans, and that was our upswing.

ups and downs of a season. don’t freak out.

  • T-Dub

This is what happens when Euro’s run into talented, athletic, strong bruthas who actually know how to play!

  • S-Dub

Way to play a trashy game, LA. They should have more class than this! What was with the fight, and Odom?

  • Chris Manning

Celtics fans – go back to your whining ways. Don’t worry about us… I just pray you don’t beat by the… overrated Cavs.

Shut up and handle your own business. Your asses are ours come finals time.

  • Ethdude

The thing that has bugged me about these last two losses is the game being over in the first quarter. And because I’m unable to just turn it off, I sit there watching the Lakers shoot jumpshots and the other team shoot freethrows for the rest of the game.

What worries me is if we go down in a playoff game is this what I should expect? Is that all you need now, a 10 point lead and 10 foul shots a quarter for the rest of the game to win? Basically what happens when we need to come back, will a ref call a handcheck foul on Fisher at a key moment? Will a player be able to draw a foul on a 3 point attempt when already leading by 19 points? Some things you can chip away at, last two games zero chance to win. The Lakers have had wins like this as well we’ve all seen it.(having a lead and every foul call imaginable basically making the game impossible to lose.) Combined with lazy offense I see no chance to win these types of games.

And this is not blaming refs.. key word “jumpshots”(3pointers)… to bleeding many of them, always. You can’t control the refs but you can control your offense.

  • xtro

lakers vs boston again in the finals. the end result shall be different. yes sir.

I am still hurt by last night’s loss. To overcome the grief, I decided to write a poem. Just wanted to share it with The Lakers Nation..

Oh My Lakers – By LakerLoverCelticsHater

    Oh My Lakers,

    If Dodgers Are The Prince,

You Are “THE KING” Of LA Nation…

    Oh My Lakers,

    Stronger Than Ever,

From George Mikan To Kobe “Jelly Bean” Bryant…

    Oh My Lakers,

You Gave Us The Joy With 3-Peat,

But How Can We Forget When You Didn’t Make The Post-Season…

    Oh My Lakers,

    Loyal Celebrities At The Games,

From Leo DiCaprio To Jack Nicholson…

    Oh My Lakers,

    Some Fans Might Dislike You,

But How Can They Ignore Your Presence…

    Oh My Lakers,

We Have Purple & Gold In Our Vein,

But Can’t Stand The Green Playing At The Garden…

    Oh My Lakers,

The Loss Against The Blazers Was Brutal,

But I Know You Will Step It Up Against Houston…

    Oh My Lakers,

    What The Fans Would Do,

    Without “THE LAKERS NATION…”

bynum’s contract maintain’s it’s value with a sub-par laker team. i’m sure bynumite doesn’t mind the poor performances at all

come on people. the CELDIKCS arent going anywhere near the finals. we’ll probably be against the cavs.

You’re counting on utah to beat us huh? afraid? yeah cause boston can’t beat us.

  • barry

so when does a league MVP let his team be down 28 points in the third quarter in a place where he hasn’t won a game in years?

  • juilliard dancer

Last night BARRY. didn’t you see it or are stupid. A team has a bad night barry, they havn’t had too many. This MVP had his team ready to take care of boston and cleveland and he has them set to be the champs this year. MVP’s have their team ready to play team ball and when they loose it’s because of how the team played. MVP has everyone on the team doing their job bc it takes teams to win championships not one man. and when that team is ready and has the best record in the league and you have the most dominant, finisher in the game who is the smartest player in the league who had his team ready to take care of the Cavs while being on the bench and showed boston who’s tougher..then you know you have the MVP. a player who is balancing and feeling out the season, whos won all the big games and has done all this with about 8 fingers. Lakers got the next 8 Championships with this team this MVP has developed
