toogreatI hope Cleveland was watching ESPN tonight, because that was one of the better Laker performances all year. 52% shooting en route to 108 points.

The Lakers moved the ball well, took care of the boards, and nailed dagger after dagger to this Utah team.

Seven Lakers had 9 points or more, and the bench really played well, hitting shots and playing solid defense.

Bynum continued to see little playing time, but it didn’t matter as LAmar just played superb.

I think the Lakers really just destroyed any morale Utah had left and Monday might just be another blowout.

Now, the bests of the night…

Top 3 Laker Performers

1) Kobe made EVERYTHING tonight. Those shots were insane. 38 points and 6 boards for Kobe.

2) Lamar did everything we needed. 10 points, 15 boards, and 6 assists.

3) Shannon Brown had 10 points, but did the little things tonight.

Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): Pau was too soft tonight and had 4 turnovers.

What to Look for Next Game: More of what you saw tonight. Hopefully Bynum gets some time on the court.

  • AMP

What is it with the security settings on this site lately?

  • Rihanna

    STD goes to Bynum
even though he played limited minutes due to coaching decision, when he was in there he got 2 fouls and played lazy like you can tell he was mad that he wasnt getting playing time
even when hes gonna be playing limited minutes i wanna see less stupid fouls, more energy, and act like he wants to be in there
he needs to stop thinking about me and get in the game
the lakers need you later on bynum, get with it

  • gugy

Utah fans just got a taste of a piss off Kobe Bryant.

    Black Mamba strikes without mercy.

    Lakers in 5!

  • kb24bestever

the black mamba its just amazing its funny how people even try to argue whp’s better kobe or lebron when its obvious like it was tonight.it was great to see our bench players play with alot of confidence specially sasha and shannon brown…. GO LAKERS

  • KB Forever

    Lakers rock!
Kobe was on fire making all those crazy shots. The Lakers will put away the Jazz in Game 5 and Kobe is gone do the same thing he did today.

  • Michael Perez

STD is Gasol? you must be insane. no player with a double double can ever be std (10boards & 13points. Pau has been the most consistand laker this season, bar none.
Bynum has to be the std this game, although he will surely be back in shape for the next series when we play Houston. can’t wait for Bynum vs. Yao!

Ps: Our prayers go out to Text Winter who suffered a stoke tonight. Get better soon Architect.

    Yeah it’s rather annoying. =\

STD u gave that to pau……Steve are you insane or what….BYNUM has been the playing like shyt the whole series let alone this game….and no i am not talking production here…but just the way he plays out there. He doesnt even get this F-ing role out. He is so overrated..If i am phil i would tell him to stop padding his stat and play his role.

  • http://steveodesignedge.wordpress.com/ dEDGE

Kobe was in his Mamba mode this evening. His typical pre-game pleasantries were nowhere to be found, and his on-court demeanor was strictly all business. Ronnie Brewer played solid defense on Bryant, pushing him out of his comfort zone and keeping a hand in his face. But the MVP was not the least bit fazed, as he left the Utah fans gasping in disbelief with one incredible shot after another.

  • Anthony

Wow, Kobe, just wow. I’ve not seen him go off like that in a good while. They just kept dropping. I’ll be one to admit that I rip on Kobe when he’s throwing them up and they’re not falling, so well deserved props for him tonight.

Great win for the Lakers, now let’s get in their Monday and bust them up.

  • David

Everyone shut up. We won by 14 in Utah. Kobe was amazing. So was the bench. Bynum will be fine, he is still coming back from the knee injury.

Fluke is the worst player in Lakers history. Dude was wearing a Jazz uniform the way he was turning the ball over. Who ever said this bum has a high bb IQ needs to get their heads examined.

  • kevin

bet SHAQ wishes he was a laker now. hes gone fishing!

  • kobe-wan kenobi

    pow’s playing is soft
his rebounding is very annoying, does he know he has to box out?

    Kobe is the best
hopefully he keeps being more aggressive and stop being in passing first mode

  • farmabrick

I “beleeb” I predicted that Kobe would play off the low block this game and he did. He’s so much better down there it is not even funny, particulaarly against a shorter or equal-sized player. He has a beautiful up and under, an unstoppable step back, and is great at finding a cutter if a double comes. I’d play him down there there rest of the series.

  • Laker4life

I knew the Lakers would come out the way they did. Kobe Bryant to me is the greatest player to ever play the game. What he did in this game goes to show the world that whenever he wants to do what he wants he does it. There is just no stopping him. Did Utah fans and Laker haters actually think Brewer can hold Bryant? I don’t think so! This year the MVP should once again go to Kobe and I am not just saying this because I am a Laker Fan, you just got to face the facts and recognize what he is doing. Players like this only come around once in a while, so I say this to all the NBA FANS do not take him for granted. Enjoy watching him while you still can cause who knows when we will ever see a player like this again. Go Lakers!

  • iamthetie

what is everyone talking about? Luke played a pretty good game. He intercepted or deflected a ton of passes. Did a good job crowding the postman for the Jazz, and beat Jazz players to the ball on the glass.

STD really shouldn’t go to anyone tonight since the team as a whole really put together a good game.

  • http://UtahLAKERS Ben

I live in Utah by way of Riverside, CA. so while residing out here in enemy territory (jazz country) tonight’s victory was simply SWEET. The Black Mamba gave an ass whuppin like I haven’t seen in a while. Deadly. It’s a comforting feeling to know we have someone like that at our disposal who can turn it on at will. Time to wrap it up come Monday……. nah nah nah nah..nah nah nah nah..hey hey hey..goodbye

  • WifelovesLuke

Kobe being Kobe. Prince Lebron can’t be the MVP after what #24 did, AGAIN! SOTD is Pau, Steve? WTF? How does a guy who goes out and gets a double double get the SOTD? What game were you watching.

Fluke is the worst player in Lakers history. Dude was wearing a Jazz uniform the way he was turning the ball over. Who ever said this bum has a high bb IQ needs to get their heads examined.”

Dude, you are a basketball moron. You clearly don’t understand how role players work in a triangle offense. Just because you don’t like white guys playing basketball doesn’t mean they can’t contribute to this Laker squad. The only one here that doesn’t have a decent IQ is you. It’s all about knowing your role and how you can move the ball in this offense. Get to bed, little man. Your mom is ready to tuck you in. Idiot!

Great win, Lakers. Let’s close it out Monday!

  • Lakerfan_InAtl

I was shaking my head all game at Kobe. Those shots made no sense. lol.

All of the Kobe haters can’t even hate on that performance.

  • kobe-wan kenobi

    luke played very good
whoever criticizes him tonite is an idiot
pau still played soft, he is our biggest liability against team that play very physical like boston in past finals
he does not fight and gets outrebounded often
stop thinking at rihanna puss y
and play some D nd reb

  • Eli

STD goes to Bynum, period. What does he do? He doesn’t even have the decency to get upset about fouling constantly. Where the hell is this guy’s passion for the freaking game?

  • the ape

after game 3, you figure kobe would be mighty pissed.

gasol ain’t really playing soft… it’s just that these are the jazz remember. sloan’s philosophy of “if you’re gonna foul, make sure they’re on the ground after”

and bynum off the bench is good. although, in typical bynum fashion, he’s whining about it saying you need games to get your stuff back. but not in the playoffs man, this isn’t the time to give you all that time just to get your stuff back. in the playoffs, you gotta have your stuff all packed

  • http://www.gotdrunkandwroteablog.com grendel20

Best part of the night was the three three-pointers in a row.

    Anyone disagree?

  • Bynum suck ass tonight

Bynum is a paycheck player. He didn’t even pick up a basketball till he was a junior in high school. He has no love for the game and since he is 7′ tall figured he might as well cash in. Can’t blame the nigga he gotta eat but at least fake it like you give a sh_it!

LOL ? How did Luke play well? Explain that to me ? Every time he got the ball something bad happened unless he just passed to Kobe.

He turned it over a few times, had a few retarded shots, and didn’t play good D. How do you figure he played well? lmao

  • Only thing soft about pau is his hair

I hate it when people say pau is soft!!!

I wanna see your gay ass try to deal with dirty ass boozer, Pau is the man!! fck y’all haters!!

  • Ko-Pau19

[Comment ID #69151 Will Be Quoted Here]

The issue with Pau is not about hating…
…It’s about a 7 foot 250 pound man getting shoved around like a rag doll & constantly out of position, by a smaller but not so shy and openly fearless tougher dude!
Once this is firmly established, you-(PAU) will not see him-(bozo) push you around any further!

  • LakerChick24

shannon’s great. as much as i love jordy…. gotta keep him on the bench for now

  • LakerChick24

also, agreed…. bynum was STD for sure! pau was great… maybe not as amazing as other games, but still pretty solid

  • farmabrick

Yeah, Bynum has had two REALLY bad games in a row. He looks healthy, so its a “head” thing. Perhaps Dr. Phil (Jackson) can have a sit-down with him and explain the problem.

  • Butch

Kobe was SICK! Like he says, “It’s what I do!”
Bynum was the STD. Stupid fouls. Doesn’t help us at all if he’s on the bench in foul trouble. Shannon Brown deserves his spot. I love Farmar, but Shannon is consistent and someone Kobe can rely on. Lamar was excellent! Carlos Bozo ain’t gonna win it for Utah. Bring on LeBron!!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=684346052 Zoom Kobe II

You think that fans and players alike would learn from the mistakes of past victims. J.R. Smith, Ron Artest, etc. Rule #1: You simply don’t piss off Kobe Bryant. I almost, in some strange way, felt sorry for Ronnie Brewer, because he had to pay for the transgressions of the entire Energy Solutions Arena crowd. R.I.P SLC!!!

  • Lakezilla

I wasn’t worried after Game 3 and to all the haters who thought otherwise, I hope last night shut u up for good. I mean they were saying well Utah played bad too, Deron was off, they missed freethrows blah blah blah. Look, if both teams played at their highest level the Lakers would still blow them out. Why? Simply because they’re the better team and in a NBA 7 game series, the better team wins 98% of the time. Whoever is saying Kobe hasn’t played like that in a while, I guess you forgot the 60 point game at Madison Square Garden in Feb. I don’t mind him being a distributor at home but in road playoff games, he needs to be aggressive like he was last night. New rule: No more smiles for Kobe for the rest of the playoffs. The next time I want to see him smile is after the 4th win in the Finals.

    1. To all the people on the Cavs d*ck because they’re about to sweep Detroit, u need to calm down. Detroit is the only team in the playoffs with a losing record. Utah would win them in 5 games at the most so that tells you something. They have the easier path to the Finals and it will comeback to bite them in the end.

    2. Can everybody stop being so hard on Bynum. I don’t think he’s mad because of he’s not starting but I think he’s just frustrated that his timing and rhythm is off. He wants to be on the floor and contribute to the team but its killing him inside. The dude is competitive and we will need him before the playoffs are over, trust me.

    3. Farmar may want to start looking for a real estate agent because he’s done. Its funny when hear Kobe and Phil giving politically correct answers like…..”every series is different so we’ll need him as we go on”…lmao! Yeah right. Shannon Brown is quicker, stronger, more athletic, smarter, can play defense and is a better shooter. See ya Farmar and don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

    Go Lakers!!!

  • lakers2000

First, I would like to get something off my chest, I am sick of the refs in every series I’ve watched. I have been waiting for a fight to break out from the TV driven officiating. Can Utah constantly get away with moving screens? Banging here, OK. Touch foul there? AHHHHHH!!! I will be PISSED if the refs give Lebron the championship this year. (just a thought, I’m venting) The Lakers need to clean it up a little. I keep seeing things they do that bring back memories of last years finals. I agree with those about Gasol. He needs to bolt on a pair and get freakin’ nasty! Show these fools that you mean business! Box out. I love Pau though. He is great for this team. Let’s go Lakers!!!!!! Championship or BUST!!!!!!!!!

  • Fluke Is A MORON!

[Comment ID #69137 Will Be Quoted Here]

Put your glasses on faggot cuz you didn’t see fluke turn the ball over and get a foul in 5 seconds in the second quarter. He was also making dumb turnovers and missing easy baskets under the rim.

You should change your handle to WifeSucksFlukesDick or ILuv2SuckFlukesDick

What’s up with all these dumb whitesboys. Always sticking up for each other. Dude if you like whitesboys so much, go watch the Jazz. Now go do some circle jerks with you boyfriend while I phuck yo mom.

  • spongebob

Lamar is taller and quicker than both milsap and boozer, he should be getting those 2 in foul trouble

  • Lakerfan_InAtl

I see there are some real Laker fans that visit this site. Some of you don’t make any sense.

Most of my points have already been made by others. Real Laker fans support their team. Some of you have to much doubt and negativity.

Let’s go Lakers! It’s our year. There will be a lot of ups and downs but that’s just how the game is. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. I know we will be victorious in the end.

  • farmabrick

[Comment ID #69132 Will Be Quoted Here]

Bryant said he changed his game a little by getting closer to the basket.

“I was operating in a space where it was harder for them to double-team me. I wasn’t 30 feet from the basket. I was getting good screens, getting the ball in the deep post position and operating from there.

“I’m going to continue to be aggressive,” he said. “If they trap and double-team, then I’ll give my guys the ball that way.”

May I humbly suggest, Mr. Bryant, that you continue to get the ball in the deep post?

[Comment ID #69150 Will Be Quoted Here]

DAY, you should watch more carefully the game, (and stop looking at the player by the skin color maybe…?)
    he had 9 points on 3/6 shooting 5reb 3 ass 3 steals
now you tell me this is a bad game,
he is definitely not a showtime player, but he runs the offense like no one in our team
when he can hit jumpers he is an effective player

  • kobe-wan kenobi

[Comment ID #69151 Will Be Quoted Here]

a 7 footer that in game 3 gets 6 reb in the whole game
(do you want talk about how he got dominated in the finals?)
he is soft, live with it
great talent offensively being a number 2 option, great passer, but not a fighter and a rebounder…

  • http://www.yahoo.com junior

oh man, kobe again…i don’t understand how a guy can impose his will on a game like that…the man played bad in game 3, he went to the media and said the lakers will be fine next game, and he actually came out next game and played in the most hostile arena in the league like he was playing at staples center…this is ridiculous…KOBE IS TRULY THE BEST PLAYER THE GAME HAS SEEN SINCE MJ.

People were being hard on Mc Grady for what he said about kobe and the lakers. But Tracy was being honest without being biaised. Everything he said about kobe was proven in game 4. The man walked into SLC with an assassin mentality, wanna kill everyone in the arena who wear white and blue…danmm

I think kobe needs to be prosecuted on murder charges on the basketball court…lol

  • http://www.yahoo.com junior

and one thing i become to realize about kobe is that it almost like that you can tell when he’s gonna have a game like that…he never smiles for 48 min (same for MSG game)…i feel like teams have become to realize that too, but there is little if nothing they can do about it…that’s like, “oh s***, he’s mad, he’s gonna burn us tonight”
