TLN’s Finals Report: Lakers vs. Celtics [Game 4]

I feel like absolute crap. We should be tied 2-2, instead, it looks all but over.

The Lakers played so well for 24 minutes tonight. We looked like one of the best teams ever. Then it all fell apart.

I don’t want to get too much into it, because it hurts too much to talk about.

Now, the bests of the night…

Top 3 Laker Performers -

1) Lamar started out on fire going 7-7 and finished 8-12. He ended with 19 points, 10 boards, 4 assists. Too bad they all basically came in the first-half.

2) Ariza had 6 points on 2-2 shooting and had some big plays. Too bad he only played 8 minutes.

3) Fisher looked good tonight. 4-5 shooting. I wish he had more playing time tonight, especially in the fourth.

Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): Easy! Sasha… 1-9 shooting and arguably the worst defensive play I have ever seen with about 15 seconds left.

Play of the Game: Sasha’s defensive lapse. Who knows what would have happened if he played any sort of defense that play.

What to Look for Next Game: Look for the Lakers to win. They don’t want to lose in 5. The Lakers have a chance to get back and make history themselves.

Game is Sunday night at 6:00 PM.

I have a TLN special on Lakers tickets for game 5 on Sunday, fathers day. Only 2 tickets left. Sec 108 row 6, corner. Email me if interested @ LakersDynasty999@GMail.com. Please mention TLN.

Go Lakers!

  • LakersFirst

I know the Lakers have the better squad. However, tonight, the Lakers (EVERY PLAYER) showed that this team lacks the heart and desire to win it all. Boston clearly wanted it more. The Lakers didn’t. It as simple as that.

You can have the most talented team in the world, but if you don’t have the heart and desire to want to win, then you’re gonna lose, no matter how talented you are.

    it’s over~

    see you guys next season~

    have a great summer

  • lakers1fan

Well so far I have only seen “one” Laker who really really wants it…that’s KOBE. I don’t know about the rest of you all but that’s whom I have basically seen being aggresive, ready, willing, and play defense! The rest look either too scared, timid, confused, and unwilling. Lamar and gasol look scared and confused. Farmer and Vujajic (except for game 4) look timid and unwilling the rest of the Lakers from Fisher to everyone else. I guess Kobe and Phil are the only ones that won to win a 4th championship really really bad.

  • e

how the fu*k do u blow a 24 pt lead?

man ive never been this pissed in my life…all i can hope for now is lakers to make history..so what if its the finals and so what if they say we cant make it happen..its still not over..our time is now

  • gugy

    IT’S OVER GUYS.

sorry. We can even win the next two games, but we will not win two in Boston. Lakers team just does not have the heart.

Lakers today played their best and their worst. Amazing. The fact we are very young show up tonight. A more experienced team would hold that big lead into the second half.

    Nest year….

Can you please explain on how this is not over?????

  • lakerstime

We have fallen very low, but if we can win the next game, the same can happen to boston,we can steal a game, if the officiating is unbiassed, and a game 7 would be anybodys game
Have faith in our team, its not over, if it were a 4 it would be but its not, lets rally behind our team

    But its not over.
Were still owed the 06 loss . MAKE HISTORY OR BE HISTORY

  • David

One phrase to describe it. “Nuclear meltdown”. I have to give Boston’s defense credit though, it’s like they got 6 guys on the court. If I were Pau I would train with Karl Malone to get tough and dirty and Kareem to learn the sky hook. Regardless, I’m sick to my stomach.

  • lakerschamps08

THIS SUCKS AND HURTS REALLY BAD.. wow for once LO showed up but gasol missed 10 easy points with free throws, dunks and layups… umm std shoulda been kobe wtf where id the best player, mvp etc.. all that have only 17 points WTF!!!!!!!!11 but yea sasha sucked.. y did vlad rad leave posey wide open in corner for the dagger 3 pointer.YYYYYYYYYYYYYY
but wow i guess we can still be confident right i mean if u blow a 24 pt lead then anything is possible.. we gonna win next 3 games… and if we dont i never wanna hear kobe is better or as good as jordan ever again period. uhhh and not to blame refs but wtf all those fouls on kobe they just let PP get to the foul line i mean he was 30 feet from basket and they calling a foul hmmmmm wasnt it f ur “more aggressive” and GOING TO THE BASKET THEN WILL U ONLY GET THE CALL WELL I GUESS NOT BUT UMM YEA TALKING BOUT A NBA FINALS WHERE REFS HELP OUT ONE TEAM In ALL 3 OF THERE WINS…
BUT FUK IT GO AND WIN 3 MORE GAMES PLAYIN 5 ON 8 CUZ THATS WAT IT WAS AT END OF GAME 1, ALL OF GAME 2, AND AT END OF GAME 4…. FUKKKKKKKK.. WE WILL WIN NEXT 3 GAMES.. GO LAKERS

  • lakers1fan

Mitch and the Lakers organization have alot of work to do this summer….TRADES, TRADES, TRADES….Trade LO, Luke, Vladi, Mihm, DJmenga. We need guys that will be aggresive like Shawn Marion, Ron Artest, Josh Smith,Monta Ellis, Corey Maggette, Elton Brand, Gilbert Arenas.
**********PLEASE MITCH MAKE SOME GOOD TRADES************************

  • tmac

i shed tears after this game..i’m not even pissed..im just genuinely, seriously, hurt and sad. this summer is gonna be depressing. = ((((((

  • magicbalala245

Steve Avery thanks for trying to boost our confidence to the win next game but even if we do i think this is over at latest Tuesday Lakers thank you for one hell of a roller coaster that the ride ends here and the ride malfunction hopefully the ride goes smooth next year

  • kaybee248

Phil Jackson is clearly the worst rotational coach. How the hell you put luke in when everthing is going good. luke did in 8min today then luke in the whole fuckin series. Blaming games on people is getting old but today’s loss clearly lands in the coaches lap

  • lakerFETTY

IM SO PISSED!!!!!! Why do we ALWAYS have to give it up in the third quarter?!?!??! I always got pretty mad if we lost a game this season but this has to be the WORST. Let’s face it, boston just played with more heart. The question isnt even if we can win three straight games but if Boston can lose 2 straight games at home..

btw lakers1fan, we’re not trading LO.

  • la-boy

I thought faith was real. I guess l was wrong. At least they‘ve done their best. I hate to say it but the celtics will win the title. Im just pissed right now coz i thought they can make it but at the end, it broke my spirit.

  • lakerFETTY

GASOL NEEDS TO STEP IT UP!! AND ARIZA NEEDS TO BE PUT IN BEFORE LUKE!!!

  • drake hunter

So far after every game be it a win or a loss the heart of every Laker fan will say that we’ll definately get the next one or we’ll still win it all. I have conceded and have thrown in the white towel. I now know what it feels like to experience a slow and painful death. In the end, the Lakers ripped my heart out and threw it on the ground doing the mexican hat dance around it and made me eat all my words I’ve said to every Laker Hater during these finals. I’m speechless! I have no excuses for this loss! I’m dumbfounded by what I just witnessed and am still in shock.

Without the help of Lamar Odom giving Gasol some easy buckets around the basket, he was just as effective in this series as Kwame Brown would have been. He definately shoots free throws like him. Our MVP was no where to be found when we needed him most in the 4th quarter of Game 4. The third quarter can be blamed for the lack of quality coaching and bad substitutions or lack there of along with bad shots and no defense. A timeout or two or three would have been nice to slow down the Celtics.

When the Lakers were up 3-1 to the Spurs everyone and there moms and their moms mom knew they were dead. After tonights loss, the Lakers have to win three in a row against the Celtics and two on their home court and you know how the first two games of this series went to win the Championship. If it happens I’d paint my face purple and gold for the rest of the year. Realistically, their dead fish in the water. Their on life support waiting for the plug to be pulled.

I still love this team and have never followed them so closely and this season has been a great one for me. I’m disappointed but realize we are very lucky to even be in the Finals when we weren’t even picked to make the playoffs at the start of the season. I very much look forward to next season and hope a few tinkering of the lineup will solidify us for the championship next season.

In conclusion, this website has been the best thing that has happened to every Laker Fan out there. I have been so addicted to it like crack cocaine. I want to thank the creators of the Lakersnation for keeping me so up to date with Laker news and I look forward to this again next season when the Lakers will win it all for sure!!!!!!

This is *DK* aka Drake Hunter signing off for the rest of the season. Goodnite and God Speed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lakers now have their backs turned against the wall. hopefully loss will sink in and they will come out with 144 minutes of intensity over the next 3 games.

    still believe

  • Geloman

I’m sorry but to me the Lakers are like a dog that’s just been hit by a green car. And now the car is revving up to finish the job.

I know there’s still a chance, a very slim one at that. But all series long, the Lakers have found a way to lose. Even when they won game 3, it left me unconvinced because KG and Pierce had terrible games and they just squeeked by. It seems when KG, Allen and Pierce are on their game, they are just plain unbeatable.

I agree where was Lamar? Where was Derek? and then when the game was on the line PJ puts in Space Cadet Vladi??? WTF!!!! Anyways, this surely gave me a headache. Plus tomorrow I will have some Laker haters at my working throwing this lost in my face. One thing I hope the Lakers do on sunday is win. Lakers better not let Celtics win on our floor that will be a shame.

    To the Lakers:

    Dear Lakers,

Please win game 5 and take it back to boston, that way the Celtics could win the CHAMPIONSHIP on their home floor instead. You will really be appreciated.

    Sincerely,
    Your #1 fan

We need to trade Mhim, Vlad and Walton, waive Menga, and clear up our cap space.

We need another strong back up centre to help Bynum out, so we need to shop that in the draft during the offseason. If we can get Artest and bring him off the bench that helps us.

This is how our team should look next year.

    Starting Five:
    PG: Fisher
    SG: Kobe
    SF: LO
    PF: Gasol
    Center: Bynum

    Bench:
PG: Farmar & Sun Yue (our 07 draft pick)
    SG: Sasha
SF: Ariza (and we need another one in this area as well)
    PF: Artest (and another powerforward)
    Center: Turiaf, Coby Karl,

Our guard positions are ok, its our small forward and powerforward positions that are killing us this year. Hopefully with Bynum back, Gasol should be able to swing back at power forward with LO going into his role as Small Forward. Ariza will be an excellent bench player, and I think it’s better to have him, Sasha and Farmar as Co-Six men.

well i dont think that ive ever been more pissed off in my whole life i thought of suicide for a quick second jk it was that bad but i was pretty pissed. theres still a slim chance i will be ruting for them just as much.

There’s no way but up from here. Can’t fall down any further than this is the good news. Back’s against the wall and we now have nothing to lose. Lakers should just play ball. We follow because we believe.

    According to T.J. Simers(LATimes):

How could Phil Jackson let this happen?

    Incomprehensible. Disgusting. Deflating. Ridiculous. Sickening.

Impossible to fathom. A total meltdown. Appalling. Revolting. Depressing.

Yes, Laker Fans this sums it up. Hands down.

  • sammie

I JUST HATE THOSE FREAKIN CELTICS SO DAMN MUCH!!! screw Seattle and Minnesota for giving Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett to stupid Boston! I HATE YOU!!!

  • BringDFishBack

Apparently the STD wasn’t so easy. It was Lamar. Where the hell did he go in the 2nd half? I think Lamar should have 2 awards, same points as rebounds, and the Lamar Odom Magician Award for Disappearing after a great performance. You know, I thought he finally got over it since Pau came. But this series has told us he really hasn’t. If he can’t figure out how to be consistent, trade him. I honeslty wouldn’t mind trading Pau either. They’re really frustrating, and yea the are in the finals, but Pau CAN’T play defense and Lamar is so inconsistent. They are also both very passive and hardly ever attack strong.

WHAT DID I SAY BEFORE? LAKER FANS ARE WEAK ! THEY NEED TO GET UP AND MOTIVATE THE TEAM WHEN BOSTON WAS MAKING THEIR RUN. AND HOW STINGY IS THE LAKERS ORGANIZATION? THEY SHOULD’VE HANDED OUT FREE YELLOW T-SHIRTS FOR ALL THE FANS TO WEAR SO THAT THEY CAN INDUCE A HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT! I HAVE MENTIONED THIS SOON AFTER GAME 3, AFTER THE LAKERS BARELY SURVIVED. IT DOES NOT FEEL LIKE A FINALS ENVIRONMENT IN LOS ANGELES; MORE LIKE A LAZY REGULAR SEASON GAME. THE CROWD BACK IN THE 80S- 90S WERE FULL OF ENERGY AND EXCITEMENT. TODAY, WE HAVE SUPERFICIAL MOVIE STARS AND RICH CELEBRITIES WHO HOG THE FRONT ROW SEATS BUT FAIL TO INTIMIDATE THE CELTICS TEAM AND STAFF ON THE BENCH!

  • http://myspace.com/thaonlyrhom RD

the lakers just DIDNT want it tonight, even thought they had it in the palm of their hands! NO BRAINS, NO HUSTLE, NO HEART, NO CHAMPIONSHIP MENTALITY to finish up a damn blowout for gods sake! and what the fucc is wrong with phil jackson benching fisher and odom, almost the WHOLE 4th quarter? they were having solid games! im starting to have my doubts with phill too. fuuuuuuccc!!! i have my doubts right now. but i STILL have FAITH in this team! CELTICS MADE HISTORY BY COMING BACK IN THE 2ND HALF!!!!! FUCC THE CELTICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LAKERS ARE GONNA MAKE HISTORY BY WINNING 3 STRAIGHT GAMES IN A ROW!!!!!

  • BringDFishBack

[Comment ID #39597 Will Be Quoted Here]

While they are annoying, the Lakers got away with so much tonight. If anyone else in the league besides maybe Lebron and Wade complained as much as Kobe they’d get tossed from every game. Sasha fouls everytime he attempts to play D. They got away with a lot tonight, the refs did everything they could to let the Lakers win but they (Pau & Odom) lost the game.

  • Remy

there is nobody to blame for this lost but themselves

    not the ref
not the coach…phil even told them in the locker room, they need to win the third…the coach word’s can only do so much, it’s up to the action of the players…they’re all professionals, so they all have to ready regardless

  • ICE CREAM MAN

The reason why we lost was because we went away of what put us up in the first place. We RAN the ball up the court the first quarter. Boston could not keep up. Then we just coasted the rest of the way. Then we started playing half court crap and there you have it.

Perfect example of how to loose a finals game. Good job boneheads!!!

I DONT WANT LUKE WALTON BACK ON MY TEAM nEXt YEaR!!!!!!!!!!!!! PERIOD..

  • Kobe8>24

its done. as much as i hate to say this, the Lakers cannot beat the Celtics in Boston. gotta regroup next year and make sure we stay healthy..

  • lakeshow31

How does the MVP and the best coach in history let this happen? It doesn’t make any sense, and is absolutely pathetic. I have followed this team every day, and I have loved this team, and that was a kick in the balls. I am ready for next year, hopefully Bynum can give us the toughness that we missed soo much this series.

Great post Drake. I make my words yours.
    Thanks thelakersnation.com your site rocks.

Next season let’s bring Artest. Ron wants to play with Kobe so bad and he will be a major force on Lakers D.

Gasol needs to meet the Governator and pump muscle in that skinny body.

Odom, I am afraid your days as Lakers are numbered. He would be great as bench player, but he is too expensive for that and he could be used as bait for a good trade.

Minh, Vlad and Luke. Adios amigos. Good luck on your new team.

Sasha, you should stay, but you lost Millions on the game last night. Your renewal is not going to be as good as it could be.

Damn, we were so close and at the same time so far to win that game last night. I am so pissed!

I cant help but to feel that the Lakers were robbed by the officiating in games 1n2! it was just so disgusting to watch how Kobes hand was almost pulled off of Kobe by Pierce towards the end of game 2 and there was no call made. That prety much sums up how heavily the officials were in favor of the Celtics. So far in the 2 games here the officiating has been only a little bit favoring the Lakers, so there for if i were Boston i would not feel proud of the way they have been winning.

BOB DELANY IS A LAKER HATER!!! LAKERS I STILL HAVE FAITH PLEASE GET IT DONE!!!

  • CelticsFan

Haha stupid lakers…too bad you cant blame the refs now! LA might win game 5..only because the Celtics wanna lift up the trophy on their home court!

  • DingleBerry

after a big meltdown like that in the second half. this series will probably not go back to boston. when you beat the spirt out of a team like you break their back. although kb can go and get 1 more so maybe it does go back but this series is over. Oh well can’t wait till bynum gets back and we see if bynum, pau and lamar can play together if not LO has a big expiring contract which will be attractive to a lot of teams and we can get a stud at the 3 position and maybe even a pg too.

  • kapadona

WOW…after reading all these posts i realize how fickle most Lakers fans are…when things go badly (understatement) you guys throw everyone under the bus. The Lakers have given us sooo much joy and pride this season, and it aint over yet. No ONE player is to blame for the meltdown…the Lakers got complacent in the second half and stopped executing the triangle which got them the lead to begin with…Its that simple. Just like LO said “they stopped executing”. The Lakers are still in this no matter how dismal it looks right now. The Lakers won in Utah twice this year while undermanned…I have to believe Kobe will motivate the team with a clear sense of urgency for the next game. I know we can still win but we gotta stop being so fickle and rally behind our Lakers.

  • Al

I’ve been saying all year that Phil is the worst rotational coach and last night he proved me right. Why is Luke in the game? He can’t shoot, can’t pass, can’t dunk and his basketball IQ = retarded. And Kobe, take the damn shots in the first half. Stop with this facilitator crap.

  • Short Diezel

IS ANYONE QUESTIONING PHIL JACKSON’S COACHING?

WHY ARE YOU STARTING RADMONOVIC OVER ARIZA? DID ANYONE ELSE SEE HOW EFFECTIVE ARIZA WAS LAST NIGHT.. JUST IMAGINE IF HE WAS A STARTER FOR ALL 4 GAMES

WHAT HAPPENED TO LAMAR IN THE 2nd half.. IS HE AFRAID OF POSEY? LAMAR IS BIGGER AND STRONGER BUT STAYED AT THE TOP OF THE KEY AND WAITED FOR KOBE TO GET THE BALL FROM HIM.. YOU ARE A PROFESSIONAL, LEARN HOW TO USE YOUR RIGHT HAND.. YOU ARE TOO PREDICTABLE..

WHY DOES GASOL KEEP TRYING TO MUSCLE HIS WAY TO THE BASKET? THAT ISN’T HIS GAME AND HE HAS NO MUSCLE.. HE HAS A MIDRANGE JUMPSHOT BUT DOESN’T USE IT.. IT IS TOO EASY TO DEFEND HIM

SASHA? WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR DEFENSE ON THE LAST PLAY? WAS GASOL SUPPOSED TO ROTATE? WHY DID YOU LET ALLEN GO TO HIS RIGHT?

WALTON? NO COMMENT.. DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY WE RESIGNED HIM

    RADMONOVIC? SEE WALTON COMMENT

KOBE.. I FEEL YOUR FRUSTRATION AND I WILL TAKE SOME SHOTS WITH YOU.. EVERYONE IS PROBABLY GOING TO BLAME YOU FOR THIS, BUT I SAW HOW HARD THEY DOUBLED YOU AND NO ONE ELSE ON THE TEAM WANTED THE BALL SO YOU HAD TO TAKE BAD SHOTS

ALL THE LAKERS CRUMBLED UNDER PRESSURE AND LOOKED TO KOBE TO BAIL THEM OUT BUT KOBE WAS BEING DOUBLE TEAMED.. SOMEONE ELSE NEEDED TO STEP UP AND THEY DIDN’T.. THEIR LACK OF EXPERIENCE WAS EVIDENT..BOTTOM LINE

ALL IN ALL.. I STILL BREATHE PURPLE AND GOLD.. I WILL NOT GIVE UP FAITH, BUT I AM A REALIST AND TO WIN 3 IN A ROW WE HAVE TO PLAY OUR BEST BALL

NEXT YEAR.. I REALLY HOPE WE CAN GET RID OF RADMON AND WALTON FOR ARTEST.. and I can NOT WAIT for Bynum to be back.. if we had him, this series would be over!!!

  • T-Dub

A team doesn’t go up 3 games to 1 on a fluke. We’ve played this team 6 times and barely won 1 with their top 2 players not showing up. This team scared me when they smacked us around the night we wore the shorty shorts. We were on a winning streak at the time. They are a better, stronger, quicker, more athletic team. They basically bought a championship with KG and Allen. Let’s start preparing for next season. Bynum will make a difference, and it’s time for the Odom experiment to be over. With Marion or Artest at SF, and Bynum…we can beat this team next season!

The lakers bench lost this game. Farmar went 1 for 6, sasha went 1 for 9? Nobody on this bench showed up today, in-fact this bench has largely been a let down throughout the entire series. Mitch needs to stop handing out checks like the good will (chris mihm, vlad rad) Serious this is not the make a wish foundation.

man this is absolutely the worst i have EVER felt after a lakers game,i am literally SICK over this, its all i can think about, man it just sucks so bad KNOWING we should be tied 2 – 2 right now stayin home for another W and heading back to beantown up 3-2 possibly, it just sucks so bad. now i know wat pain the spurs were feeling when derek fisher hit the 0.4 shot. (although i was freakin out in joy at the time <–(how celtics fans are right now btw))

[Comment ID #39567 Will Be Quoted Here]

It’s not over. Didn’t you know it is the best 4 out of 7 not 3 out of five??? This was a team loss also, and should not be hung on any one person, but most of the responsibility should be hung on Phil and Kobe. How do you lose a Home game up by 24 in the finals. MJ would have never loss a game like that so all you dingleberries who think kobe is better than MJ think again.

That being said here a few of our slim hopes of making history and beating Boston.

    1. Win Sunday… playing an entire game as a team and not just one half or qtr.

    2. War of attrition… though we look beat Boston is physically beat with Rondo, perkins, pierce suffering injuries and the whole team basically over 30 might make recovery hard for game 6(if we win game 5). The longer we stay alive the better chance we have to be the last one Standing and the First to the Finish Line.

    3. The Law of Averages… Plus isn’t God a Laker??? Purple and Gold are colors of his Kingdom….Not GREEN. Throughout Laker-Celtic History the majority of heartbreak losses have been to us. Weren’t the Red Sox expected to lose AGAIN to the Yankees when they were down 0-3 in the American League Playoffs a few years ago??? How did that series end up???

  • Big Phil

The day after and I am still seething, pissed off, and sad for yesterday’s disappointing loss. The Lakers just crumbled and wilted to the pressure in the 2nd half. Are you kidding me? After seizing a fantastic opportunity going into the 3rd quarter and you guys just give up?! Everyone, EVERYONE on the team is to blame…including Kobe and Phil. Ariza was doing such a fantastic job in the 1st half…why did you not play Ariza over the f*ckin Space Cadet?? Phil and the Lakers got too complacent, got outhustled, got muscled. Phil why didn’t you call timeouts and have them reset the offense and defense. They just settled for jumpers…F*CK stop the jump shooting and attack the F*CKIN rim. Once Boston started applying the pressure, everyone just seemed to rely on Kobe to break them out…Lamar, Pau, Fisher, Sasha (and the list goes on) all played the WORST DEFENSE…played like puuusssies, getting beaten to rebounds and loose balls. Sasha, Vlad, Farmar, Walton, Pau are so F*CKIN SOFTIES…it’s like they’re scared to get touched…they just leave lanes wide open. VLAD and WALTON HAVE TO GO. THEY MUST GO…THEY ARE LIABILITIES TO GIVE AWAY OPPORTUNITIES…ABSOLUTELY THEY ARE NOT ASSETS. We need players who are strong minded, have strong hearts, who are focused and determined, want to win, and won’t crack under pressure. GET RID of Vlad, Farmar, Walton, Lamar (who was a no show in the 2nd half…blew layups and fumbled balls) for Artest and Baron Davis. Lamar just can’t handle pressure. The Lamar experiment is OVER. If you think getting Bynum back will secure the Lakers championship next year…you are fooling yourself. UNF*CKIN believeable!!! Walton DOES NOT belong in the NBA. Vlad plays with no heart and no hustle. Farmar is not the PG of the future…he takes really dumb shots and can’t play D. AND KOBE U HAVE TO SHOULDER SOME BLAME FOR YOURSELF FOR TAKING SOME BAD SHOTS. PAU, STOP BEING A F*CKIN GIRL MAN! U ARE 7 FT. TALL. HIT THE WEIGHTS…PLAY SOME PICKUP GAMES HERE ON THE STREETS AND WE’LL MAKE U A REAL MAN. LEARN TO BLOCK OUT DAMNIT AND GO AFTER REBOUNDS INSTEAD OF WAITING FOR THEM TO COME TO U…U ARE FREAKIN POWER FORWARD/CENTER. Worst loss in the history of the NBA…unbelievable.

If Boston raises that trophy at Staples Center, I’ll never look at that arena the same way again.

Paul Pierce is an idiot. I just loved when he was asked how they made the comeback and he looks up dramatically … to say “Thank you Jesus.” WTF? Are you out of your ever-loving mind? We have millions of people dying horrible deaths every year and this millionaire ACTUALLY wants us to believe the the Good Lord doesn’t like the Lakers as much?!?!? What about game three, you bloody fool? Hey, maybe we should also ask Buddha, Confucious and Mohammed and take a vote. WHAT AN IDIOT.

  • Farmars_inner_Jordan

Last night, I witnessed the most beautiful basketball being played at the highest, competitive level possible. Our boys were passing the ball, driving through the lane, cutting to the open spots, passing from big man to big man, and consequently, getting lay ups all over Boston.

Then, I continued to watch in disbelief of the worst effort in any level of basketball. People stood around on offense. As a result, no ball movement happened. Screens were set softly like a teddy bear touching a cactus. We didn’t execute our stellar offense. Defense? Well our defense looked as if our shoes had super glue on the soles. And it seemed as though the Lakers were fine with leaving that one guy (House) wide open on each shot, because they believed he will miss eventually. And help defense? Maybe the Lakers should play track 2 on Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. I have to wonder sometimes, why some of the match ups were made.

Luke? Air balls. No defense. No movement off of the ball. No threat on the offensive and defensive end. VladRad? Sure he scored 10 points, but he must have given up 18 while playing his specialty, “No Hands Up Defense.” No lateral movement when it comes to putting the ball on the floor. Absolutely no passing skill. Farmar, I love you to death, and you’re my boy, but why Coach Phil Jackson put you in for so long while you were unable to rotate on defense, I really don’t know. It looked as though we did not want to move on offense either.

People stood around, saying “Gimme the ball! I’m open” while a green jersey stood right next to them. One dribble, and we would pick up the ball and wonder why we are stuck on offense. Not to take away from the Smelltic’s defense, but we were able to pick apart their defense in the 1st quarter with ease and finesse. The pivotal 3rd quarter slowly chipped away at our lead, and our confidence. Why PJ didn’t take time outs, or why he seemed so oblivious at how the Celtics caught up during the interview between the 3rd and 4th quarters puzzles me. I was just tearing my hairs out during the 3rd and 4th.

It is terribly frustrating at how the Lakers are so capable yet inept to control our own destiny. It saddens me at how this magical season of ups and downs could burn down to this outcome. For those of you saying “This series is over,” well, I don’t blame you. Try to have faith and at least watch our Lakers. I for one, have to believe that there still is a chance, that when there is a will, there is a way. We’ve lost all our pride last night. The referee might be on payroll, but heck, there is no excuse for a team to blow a 24 point lead in a Finals game. Sunday’s game is not going to be played for pride, glory, or redemption. It will be for the fans. It will be for those Celtics Dad’s and Grad’s, to dampen their spirits on that day. It will be for those who over-paid on stubhub, shelling out astronomical prices to watch the greatest basketball team play, only to be shot down and laughed at by Bostonians residing in the City of Angels. Finally, it will be for Marge and Chick, and those who have always watched our team play those chowder-sipping, clothes-lining green team. Stand tall Lakers fans. Chin up, chest out, and forever in support of our Lakers. The fickle bandwagon fans that only put up flags when we win always fall flat, but we shall stand tall. However, we might just need a little something from Chick in heaven.

  • FreddyJ from LA

Lakers in 7…and get buried in 5 tons of panties tossed at them in the Laker victory parade end of story…
Imagine with Bynum & Arizza, Lakers will be unstoppable…

  • DCLAKER

It’s OVER! Sorry Phil but it is.This team can’t win without Bynum and they are too young and WE ALL SEEN HOW THEY GOT EXPOSED,BADLY!No heart except for Kobe,Sasha(SIGN HIM NOW),Kobe,Turiaf(he played KG better than Pau)Ariza,and……..oh yeah!KOBE!Gasol is too soft for a center,he’s more of a PF AND LO IS….well let me say 1st half he’s the man and 2nd half……STRAIGHT DOO-DOO,P-U!

Now I see why Kobe did The Infamous Video last season but give credit to Boston, they wanted it more, plain and simple.

KOBE NEEDS HELP and in for him to get the help he deserves…Luke,Vlad, and a couple of others must go,period.

    Mitch here’s my wish list…AGAIN:

    Ron Artest

    Corey Maggette

    Antione Jaminson

Gerald Green(he has more heart than alot of IQ guys WE know)

    Mickael Pietrus(My 2nd favorite free agent) but I think we’ll get,drum roll please…..

Black Mamba, Triple Ocho, The Dagger…
Please don’t mention Kobe’s name in the same sentence with Michael Jordan any more. This would never have happened to MJ.

The Lakers were run through the Wood Chipper last night. Good luck picking up the pieces after that pathetic debacle.
The most disasterous loss in Laker playoff history and to make it worse it was to the GD F-ing CelDicks.

YES!I GIVEUP THIS SERIES BUT IT DOESNT MEAN I GIVE UP LAKERS I’LL TAKE THIS FAILURE AS A LEARNING PROCESS,BUT I KNOW FOR THE NEXTFIVE YEARS ITS ALL LAKERS!

ITS OVER GUYS LETS BE HUMBLE!

  • goodfella

Ron Artest baby, all the way. Mitch has to get this guy. we wouldn’t need kobe to shut down the opponent’s best offensive player, not when you got artest to do that. and artest can handle every position, he’s that good. kobe has all his energy for his offense instead of draining him through out the course of the game. and best of all, the more better reason to get Artest, defense is contagious.

Get Garnett was last year. This year is Get Artest.

    Get Artest.

  • gugy

    Life goes on.

We lost and the chance to come back is almost impossible. Plus this team do not have what it takes to make it happen this year.

We have a great team for the next 5 years. Let’s make the adjustments to make it even better. Let’s trade the scrubs that game after game do not produce according to the salaries they make.

Let’s bring RON ARTEST. He wants to be a Laker so bad and he loves Kobe.

    Go Lakers!

  • Andrew

I am pretty pissed off as well. And by the way, this can get a whole hell of a lot worse (Boston winning the championship on our home court) Let’s just hope our purple and gold can take it back to boston and let whatever happens happen.

  • Smush Walton

    Here is something to ponder…

When Posey was available, did Mitch make any attempt to add him to our team? They said Ainge got him for “next to nothing”. (And we currently have a lot of “nothing” on our team.)

I guess Mitch was satisfied with our backup crew of Smush Walton, VladRad, Mgenga, Mihm, and Newble (not to mention our backup guards of Sasha, Jordie, and Kobe Karl.)

Time to clean out the barn! It is getting pretty deep on this team. We need to add some intelligent, consistent, mentally, prideful, tough VETERANS to help Kobe.

After four years of promises and potential the time has come to pull the plug on the Lamar experiment. He is a front runner, but when the pressure is on, time and time again he just wilts away like an old piece of lettuce. I’m sure he’s everyone’s “buddy”, but you just can not count on the guy when the heat is on. Sad but true.

Immediate flushing is also required for Smush Walton (ship him to his Dad’s beloved CelDicks) and Vlad. Trade them for two peanut vendors and a parking attendant if you have to, but get them the hell off of this team. Enough is enough!

Finally, we need a quality point guard for the future. Fisher is getting up in years – at this point he would be a reliable backup – but it is beyond obvious that there is no way in hell that Jordie or Sasha will ever be viable starters in this league. Sad but true.

man I love this website, b/c there are some TRUE LAKER FANS. I was F’ing pissed yesterday bros, not b/c of the loss, I was devastated by the loss and hurt but what pissed me off was all these “Laker Fans” jumping off the bandwagon @ work today. FTW, Lakers take it one game at a time. ITS NOT OVER. 3-1, this is the greatest challenge for the Lakers the cup is 1/4 Full, we just need to fill it 3/4 of the way from here on out. 3 wins in a row gives us a Championship, 30 other teams would LOVE TO BE IN THE POSITION THE LAKERS ARE IN NOW, so FTW, F Boston, F Hollinger that sack of $h!t and lets go Lake Show, Never Give Up and Always Rep the Purple n Gold.

  • kobe4ever

And even if they lose, this was a GREAT SEASON. no one expected us to be here, I’M PROUD OF MY LAKERS, and anyone who says their a Lakers fan and blasts them and says they “suck” (I F’ing hate that $h!t) can stay off the bandwagon and don’t bother getting back on next year you sack of $h!t.

  • LakersAllDay

Yesterday in the game preview i posted this… () = My response.

One of my pet peeves about home games is the sixth man and im talking about the crowd. In My Opinion, they need to be Louder and keep being loud throughout the game. They usually dont get into it until the 4th or when the lakers are down and they make a shot to get closer to taking the lead. I mean its the FINALS! The players feed off from their energy and that is what the lakers need.

(Laker Crowd: “Hi im the Laker crowd, and im going to only cheer in the first quarter and when the Lakers are winning by a lot, i know they are going to win so i dont need to cheer anymore.”
When the Celtics begin chipping away…
“O im not worried they still have a big lead so i dont need to cheer
When the Celtics get to single digits…
“O NO! they are coming back! Im going to Panic and not Cheer!
When the Celtics get within 2…
“Ok our team needs me now so im going to cheer”
    Too Late Celtics win….End)

    Keys To Winning (IMO)
    1. Defense! (Yeah..As we all know in the 3rd..horrible..Sasha at the end..wow)
    2. Bench Scoring (Lakers Outplayed once Again)
    3. Gasol and Odom playing better (Odom played well but as for Gasol..he was eh)
    4. Ball Movement (It was good in the 1st and 2nd, but yeah..turnovers later)

    5. Keep Luke Off the Court and use Ariza more lol (So True right there. should have played Ariza for longer minutes. Luke played..what did he do? nothing! a 3 but weve seen him play better. Remember those days when people would chant Luke’s name when he had the ball? yeah..not happening anymore. if it does happen they are probably chanting fluke.
    6. Vlad needs to stop trying too hard because they = turnovers or
bonehead plays (No Turnovers but his shooting was off..i think he airballed one)

In my opinion Kobe seemed to rely too much on his teammates. He needs at least 20+ points even though the rest are scoring the points. It would have added to the lead and would give him a little more shooting touch than what he had in the game.

But hey Lakers lost, can’t change it. Game 5 here we come. Celebs and non true fans stay home!

I could really use Phil Jackson’s Zen meditation sessions right now.

  • Smush Walton

I’ve liked Artest, but after suffering through this season with Smush Walton, VladRad, and Lame-O I’ve seen the light…

    GET RID OF THE GARBAGE!

  • DCLAKER

We need more than Artest(I starting to like the sight of him in a Laker uniform).

I heard JO STILL WANTS TO BE A LAKER,whoa, just imagine JO/PAU/AB,NOW THAT’S HELP!

We don’t have to trade to get Artest,he can just leave.

GAME 1 LOSS BLAMES NO DEFENSE

    KOBE MVP 9-26;24PTS.;3REB;6ASTS.
    4 STARTERS 16-36;49PTS
    BENCH 5-15;15PTS.

    GAME 2 LOSS BLAMES REFEREES

    4 STARTERS 6-27;22PTS.;
    BENCH SASHA 7-10 20PTS.

    GAME 4 LOSS TRAGIC LOSS

    KOBE MVP 6-19;17PTS;4REB.;10ASTS.
    4 STARTERS 18-37;59PTS;
    BENCH 5-21;15PTS

    SUMMARY:
WHEN KOBE SCORES UNDER 30 THEY DEFINITELY LOSS,HE SCORES 30PTS ON GAME 2 ALMOST A WIN THEY ONLY LOSS TO THE REFS.ON GAME 3 36 ON MVP WITH A GOOD HELP FROM SASHA ALTHOUGH THE 4 STARTERS S@CKS.AND ON LAST NIGHT A DISASTER 17PTS ON MVP BUT HE GOT 10 ASST.HE ONLY HAVE 1 ASST.ON GAME 3 BUT THEY WON AND HAS A TOTAL OF 24 ASST ON 3 LOSSES A BETTER HELP ON THE 4 STARTERS BUT NOT WITH THE BENCH.

THEREFORE I CONCLUDE THAT KOBE HAS TO SCORE 30 PLUS POINTS DOESN’T MATTER IF HE SHOOTS 30 ATTEMPS A GAME AS LONG AS HE GETS 30-40 POINTS.ITS A BALLHOG BUT THATS THE ONLY WAY TO WIN.LAST NIGHT ONLY 19 ATTEMPS WHERE IS THE MVP.IF HE KEEP ON SHOOTING ON THE 3RD Q HE SHOULD END UP WITH 30 PLUS ON 15/30 SHOOTING AND DRAWS MORE FOULS.BUT WHAT HAPPEN IS HE KEEPS TO FIND HES TEAM WHILE THE CELTS EATING THEM SLOWLY WHEN THE OTHER LAKERS SEEMS SO SCARED.THIS IS THE FINALS IF THERE IS SOMEONE THAT HAS TO STEP UP IT IS HIM.HE HAS TO ATTACT EVERY CELTICS AND MAKE THEM PAY.LAKERS WON PLAYOFFS BECAUSE HE AVERAGE 30 PTS.AND A COUPLE OF 30 PLUS ATTEMPS ON THE SPURS SERIES.DONT BLAME GASOL,LAMAR,VLAD THEY ARE SO CONCISTENT.CONCISTENT TO BE SCARED.THE ONLY WAY TO BEAT DEF.TEAM IS TO ATTACK AND TAKE IT TO THE LINE.AND KOBE IS THE ONLY PLAYER CAN DO IT.IF HE WANTS TO WIN PLAY HIS GAME….

    FACTS…
TO THE LAKER FANS…THUS ANYONE OF YOU BLAMES KOBE WHEN HE SHOOTS MORE BALL AND LOSSES THE GAME …I NEVER …I ONLY BLAME HIM WHEN HES NOT SHOOTING THE BALL MORE AND LOSSES THE GAME…BECAUSE I MORE TRUST HIM THAN THE LAKERS…

The Lakers problems aren’t really scoring. If I remember correctly, the Lakers were 3rd highest scoring team in the NBA, behind Phoenix and Denver. The Lakers problem is defense and physcality, hence why people want Ron Artest (good defender and doesnn’t mind playing physical). Not to mention, Artest is a pretty good offensive player. He averaged 20.5 ppg last year (16 ppg for this career).

Kobe threw his ENTIRE team under the bus last year, that’s why he’s an a**hole.

JO – Good luck trying to get him. He has two years left on his contract that pays him $40M+ (i.e. $20M per year). There is NO WAY JO opts out of that contract. The best JO could hope for is to be traded. Unfortunately, the Lakers could trade LO and filler, however, the Lakers would be pushing themselves even more over the cap space by acquiring LO.

Finally, the Lakers would have to trade for Artest. Artest can opt-out of his contract this summer, although nobody knows for sure if he will. If he does opt-out, the max contract the Lakers can offer him is the MLE ($5M/year, Artest makes $7M next year), and other teams under the salary cap will be able to offer more. By trading for Artest, the Lakers do a sign and trade (they would probably have to give up LO) which ultimately would guarantee that Artest would be a Laker. Sac needs a power forward and LO’s $14M, which is off the books after next year, will look appealing.

The Celtics are a BETTER TEAM! Some of you are in denial. We have lost 5 of 6 games to this team…and not on buzzer beaters. They have kicked our A S Ses! We don’t have what it takes to beat them. We have one perinnial all-star against 3. We are a good team, but the Celtics are stacked with all-stars and vets playing against 0ne all-star, some journeymen, and kids! They paid for this ring and they will get it! Mitch has to build this team to beat the Celtics over the next 2-3 yrs.

For all the wishful thinkers out there…think about what happened yesterday and what’s been going on the entire series. Yesterday, we had a total collapse in leadership and the team. Boston cut off the Lakers’ nuts, handed it to them…the Lakers took their balls, put in their pockets, tucked their tails between their ass, went into a corner and cried like little girls. THAT’S WHAT F’ IN HAPPENED. BOSTON IS A BETTER TEAM…SAD BUT TRUE. We don’t have a better bench…they have stunk for the entire series. Boston is well-rounded…they have a bunch of guys (starters and bench players) who play physical, who can shoot consistently, who can also drive in, post, and DEFEND. Our bench has no one who can drive in well consistently and post. Sasha and Jordan always pull up jumpers. Jordan, btw, is a terrible shooter…and he does make alot of bad decisions out there. Doc Rivers has outcoached Phil…Doc made a great move by going small with Posey. Phil keeps giving minutes to the Space Cadet and Smush Walton…two guys who keep blowing great opportunities and don’t play with any conviction. WTF did you not play Ariza more in the 2nd half?! The Space Cadet stopped playing and let Ray Allen have an open lane to the basket. Don’t blame the refs any more…with the way the Lakers in the 2nd half…they might as well become a WNBA team. I would love for this team to grow their manhood back, but I just don’t see it happening with the some of the personas on this team (namely, Odom, Pau, Jordan, Sasha, Walton, Vlad). We need balanced veterans who give 200% mind, body, and soul. Again, Walton does not belong in the NBA…he MUST BE GONE NEXT SEASON. Vlad the Space Cadet almost MUST GO…he plays with no heart, no hustle, no focus, no dedication. Whenever I see him on the court, he has the look of someone who doesn’t care if the Lakers lose. Lamar can’t handle pressure…time to send him somewhere else where the expectations are lower…here in L.A. we want to win.

kPoAbUe,I agree the Lakers are NBA’s Most Wanted and I do feel Game 2 was tainted, even some Celtics have admitted to that but LAST NIGHT WAS NO EXCUSE!Celtics just wanted it more in the 2nd half.

I don’t feel it was Kobe’s fault ’cause whenever you distribute the ball(10 assists)and your teammates CAN’T HIT A SHOT EVEN IF THEY POINTED A BAZOOKA AT THEIR HEADS,then that means your pretty much done for.

Phil…Phil….poor, poor Phil why wasn’t Ariza in for the rest of game, well,I’ll explain…….’CAUSE HE’S TOO LOYAL TO LUKE,CUT THE CORD,PULL THE PLUG,LET LOOSE THE GOOSE,WHATEVER.Ariza made a HUGE contribution and he barely played during the Playoffs and he played better than Luke and Vlad in 1 FREAKIN’GAME,PITIFUL!

You smell 75 WINS..AND A PLAYOFF SWEEP… in 08-09 with no roster changes other than getting rid of Vlad and Smush?

I think what you are smelling is a whole lot of glue

  • Short Diezel

Get rid of Vlad and Luke for ARTEST, and keep the remaining roster.. and i guarantee a championship next season

  • LAKER

there is still i slim very very slim chance the laker’s can pull off the greatest upset in NBA history… but it is seemingly the most insurmountable obstacle the Lakers have ever faced…. but there IS still a chance… the chance is so small i don’t even know if i can believe anymore… but it still is a chance…

I do not know whether people are born great, or whether they have greatness thrust upon them. I do know that greatness is a certain characteristic that distinguishes them from others….

i bleed the purple and gold… lakers in 7… greatness here we come

I just saw Doc Rivers on Espn, his words I will repeat exactly what he said,”I mean,he’s the Greatest Player we have in the NBA right now and for a guy to be critizied the he’s been,it’s unfair”.

Now if a guy on the opposing team can call Kobe GREAT then why can’t y’all ‘fairweather Laker fans’give RESPECT,DAMN,HE’S THE REASON WHY THOSE GAMES WERE EVEN CLOSE.Without him where would they be….just as I thought,KNOWHERE!

i really doubt artest will be a bench player

  • kapadona

you know what really ticks me off?!? When the Lakers are winning Kobe is all smiles, even jovial with the opponent…you see him coaching the younger players on the team-maybe about a play that could have been run better or a defensive pointer, you seem him really animated, kind of like a player-coach…………….however, when things are flipped around and the Lakers are in an offensive slump during the game, or getting a whopping and there is no flow to the offense….you see him completely detached from the other players WHEN THIS IS THE MOST CRITICAL TIME FOR HIM TO STEP UP AS A LEADER AND REMEDY THE STORM! I hate that about him…i was watching his body language in the second half as he would walk into the time out huddles and he was so detached and un-leaderlike (is that even a word?)…then i looked at the Boston bench and they were so unified and fired up from Cassell to Eddie House……….I envied them for a brief second………….as much as i hate them………Thats what leaders do, and Kobe is just not a leader. Your body language and leadership skills should be on maximum display during those most horrific of meltdowns. The younger players (Turiaf, Farmar and Sasha) really feed off that energy.

  • Kobe Forever

The Lakers are in trouble. If they don’t start playing defense they are going to lose Game 5 and it’s over. Boston is a very dangerous team because even if you go up by 40 against them they will still make a huge run if teams don’t take care of the ball. So, if the Lakers have a big lead in Game 5 they should continue playing until the end of the game which they didn’t do in the second half of Game 4.

  • nazanin

    This hurts really bad.
But honestly, I can’t find an ounce of sympathy for this team. They did it to themselves! There is no possible way that Boston suddenly decided to show up in this game. And if they had, honestly, I don’t think they could have come back all the way. Pau played terrible and they made some really dumb mistakes on defense.
I have always been an optimist but right now the odds are really stacked against them. I’ll be watching and if they win the championship, then GREAT, we are officially witnesses of the greatest historic comeback. And if not, then the disappointment will have already passed because nothing can be worse than the feeling of watching your team give up a 24 point lead in Game 4 of the NBA Finals where they are down 2-1. (just let that sink in, believe me NOTHING is worse than that)

    same here!!!

we are still in this, dont give up, thats what boston wants us to do
think about it, we win on sunday (knock on wood) and its a 3-2 series
then game 6 – the mvp, that is kobe bryant, will personally carry the team to a win. MARK MY WORDS!!!
then anything can happen in game 7, i mean, we almost came back from a 24 point deficit with like 7 minutes remaining in the game! granted its away, but just read the previous sentence…

please dont give up, fans and players, bring the title back to where it truly belongs, LA!!!

through thick and thin, i will always cheer my lakers and have faith, just like how u guys should toooooo.

p.s. did i mention how much i hate people saying its over? cuz last time i checked, u have to win 4 games out of the seven, not 3

  • Mon

the series is not yet over so here’s the game plan for the lakers:

    1. Win game 5. Boston will tend to relax coz they want to get the championship on their own court.
    2. Treat game 6 as game 7. Mind set must be: You will win the series once you win game 6. As if you aready won the title once you win game 6.
    3. Once we have Game 7, it’s anybody’s ballgame, play it as if it’s the last game of your career…no tomorrow. The only way Boston will win is over your dead body.

  • Rico

I have been a die-hard LAKERS fan for 20 years now. I say that because I am not biased towards any particular player. With that said, KOBE BRYANT is the one to blame for last night’s loss. On several occasions, he let his man drive by him for an easy layup and expected his teammates to back him up. If Kobe is 1st team All Defense, he should have pressured his man the entire game instead of periodically. Kobe was the only one who didn’t show up. Phil should have made better substitutions like play D-Fish more in the 4th and Ariza but oh well. Kobe shouldn’t be “mad” at his teammates and blame himself for not hustling all the time on defense and for his horrible shooting night. Did anyone see Kobe complain about being fouled when Pierce (that SOB) clearly block his shot and then watched the C’s go down in transition and score a basket? Did anyone notice Kobe kicking out his leg at the end of the game to get a foul called? As the leader, Kobe needs to stop complaining about calls and if he doesn’t get a call, hurry back on defense. This is the worst I have seen him play and I know what he is capable of. If Kobe isn’t selfish, shoots better, and doesn’t act like a mom to his teammates, we can pull this off in 7 games.

    PHOENIX did it to us…

down 3-1 the suns beat us to move on in the western conference….

so i think we are just as good as them…

the purple and gold can do it…

though as dreary as these finals look,

i stay faithful to my purple and gold… we can do it… we just need the heart to win it… whoever wants it the most will win it… hopefully our lakers can find the drive to finally overcome the celtics… lakers in 7…. hopefully
