For the most part it was pretty much unwatchable, seeing as it contained what could arguably be the worst officiating I have seen in recent memory. It was truly unreal. I can’t even really even begin to describe it.

The Celtics shot 28 more free throws than the Lakers.

To give them credit, Boston did play very good defense, but give me a break. No way in Hell did the Lakers only get fouled on three shot attempts*. And then there’s all those ticky-tack fouls that were called on the Lakers. It’s one thing if as a referee you are going call ticky-tacks, but you know, you might want to call them on both teams.

As far as I’m concerned, there isn’t much to analyze. The refs gave it to them. I’m definitely not a big fan of blaming losses on the refs (I’m really not) but this was just too ridiculous. I’ve never been this disgusted after watching an NBA game**.

In spite of all that though, Kobe never quit and didn’t let his team quit either. He almost led the Lakers to the greatest comeback in Playoff history and I think that just makes what the refs did that much more reprehensible.

*I’m not sure how many free throws were on shot attempts, but doing a little math on their ten free throw attempts based on memory of where each free throw came from, I came up with three.

**I did however miss that one game I think last year or two years ago in Cleveland where Lebron led a “miraculous” comeback or any of the Dallas/Heat finals games so those might be worse.

The Michael Jordan Award for MVP of the Game: The referees. Kobe Bryant is not unstoppable after all. All you have to do foul Kobe and his Lakers and watch while the refs don’t call a thing.

The Dominique Wilkins Award For Highlight of the Game: I don’t know. Probably some play where somebody on the Lakers drives and gets fouled and makes it in and gets and 1 and nothing.

Runner Up: Lamar Odom throwing the ball at the fallen PJ Brown.

The Vince Carter Award for the Most Half Hearted Performance of the Game: Lamar Odom, I guess, seeing how he wasn’t on the floor at the end.

The Linas Kleiza Award for Random Bench Player Coming Out of Semi Obscurity and Destroying the Lakers: Leon Powe.

Final Thought: I hate the Celtics so much. Roger Federer got destroyed and the Lakers lost. What a crappy day. I apologize if this post game sucks.

It was repulsive the way the ref called this game. Unbelievable! I’m just disgusted..

  • iLLmatic

kobe showed a lot of heart and i think that will carry over into staples tuesday night. The lakers have to show more scrapyness in order to pull themselves out of this 0 – 2 hole Lakers in 6

  • BIGAL

lol that post game report was great actually….but just keep your head up

On the way back to LA with a little confidence from the comeback….we will do what we did to San Antonio in ’04 when we were down 2-0. Come home and win 2 (in this case 3) and win one more in Boston. LET’S GO LAKERS… STAPLES GET EM INTO IT. RADMANOVIC….PLAY SOME DEFENSE YOU APE

  • mfoznot

really this game sucked. I was blown away by the officiating (the refs fault) and the lack of rebounding (the lakers fault). I was almost going to sh1t my pants when I thought they might come back, but I knew deep down they wouldn’t. I think the Lakers will win tow, hopefully three at home. I think kobe is PISSED OFF!!! and the celtics should look out for a huge blowout in LA. Watch MOTHERF@CKERS!! Go LAKERS!!

  • 123KID

how do you get a 30 somethin to 10 free throw set-up. that is so ridiculous. even if the lakers got like 15 to 30, we would of won. EFF YOU DAVID STERN FOR THIS TOTAL BULL IN NBA BASKETBALL! QUIT TRYNA DRAW RATINGS AND LET TEAMS JUST PLAY!!!!!

  • jay

They Refs have always hated the lakers especially KOBE. Jon Barry is an idiot. from the start of the game to the end celtics got all the calls. 38 TO 10 SAYS IT ALL. WOWS ARE FINALS OUTCOME REALLY GONNA BE DETERMINED BY THE DIRTY REFS. Lakers coming home we are undefeated in the playoffs. Breaking News !!!!P aul pierce on his way to shot a film in hollywood. Lakers in 6 maybe 7 if we get those dirty refs again

  • Jay

that was by far the worst reffed game in the playoffs. we kno home teams get an advantage but that was ridicolous ive never hated boston so much right now..

    GO LAKERS!!!!

  • Deus_Ex

It’s no doubt the Refs decided this game. I mean come one, we got 8 FTA while the celtics got 34…if that isn’t lopsided I dont’ know what is!!!

I can say it proudly, we beat the celtics tonight, because if you take away their last three fouls, which was given to them, we won the game.

Sasha was fouled on his 3pt attempt, Kobe got fouled on his last shot attempt and it’s like the refs were turning a blind eye to this.

  • KONG!

    Great Post Game Report!

Someone or something needs to be done about this tragedy. Somehow we can’t let these “referees” get away with this.

It’s Leon Powe for crying out loud! Leon Powe!!

And I hate how the f*cking game analysts praise this kinda game with comments like “This is the NBA FINALS and you gotta EARN your fouls”. Bullsh*t!

On the other hand, the Lakers should be proud they made that spectacular semi-comeback. Sasha shouldn’t have got blocked! Give the ball to Kobe next time HERO!

GOD! LAKERS WILL COME BACK! CELTICS WILL BURN!!!

  • 123KID

back to the drawing board and lets effin rape the celtics on tuesday. ONE GAME AT TIME!!!

The disgusting fact about this league: It’s a ref’s league.

They are not accountable for their actions
    they are IMMUNE TO CRITICISM
They are protected more than any other player, coach , and executive. It’s just embarassing to the integrity of the game.

Even after the refs have an atrocious game the league still protects them, they are never disciplined for their performance.

Until this changes it will always be a refs league. The refs own this league.

  • Russ Ahi

its sad wen the refs blatantly call the game like this…

    its just too bad

  • two0one7

Take this into account, we actually outscored them 40-34 in the paint (we had 41fgs in the paint compared to their 23), yet still only got 10 freethrows compared to their 38. We were the aggressor. Unbelievable.

Charlie Rosen pretty much sums it up:

“A pair of phantom fouls on Kobe ruined the Lakers’ first-half rotation, and at the intermission Boston had attempted 19 free throws to L.A.’s two (one of these being a technical foul on KG). After three quarters the margin was 26-to-4, and the final total was 38-to-10.

This disparity was even more puzzling since the Lakers’ game-plan called for them to constantly drive the ball to the hole. And several replays showed exactly how biased and inconsistent the refs’ decisions truly were.

No surprise, then, that the Lakers were distracted, annoyed, and even outraged all game long. And rightly so.

by the way, I know this is not the time, but we really need to move Vlad and Luke next season. These guys are not helping at all. Lamar need to go back to the same guy we saw on the first 3 series of the playoffs. Props to Pau for stepping up.

  • shakobe

all i know is thats it ONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!! david stern your going down boston is not going to win!!! oh yea and the refs should be ashamed of themselves karma what goes around comes around…… lakers in 6……. this is war….

  • Deus_Ex

Seriously, we need to send in a petition to the NBA, ABC & ESPN, because this bull$hit!!!

  • Thomas

There is no adjective that we as fans of the Los Angeles Lakers can use to describe how abyssmally horrible that game was officiated. AND despite all of it Kobe & Co. were almost able to win the game at the end. The Paul Pierce foul at the end was garbage, almost as much as him faking the injury which i noticed was not in the post game analysis. There is no person on the planet aside from Kobe Bryant or Michael Jordan himself who could “sprain” their knee and come out and play like it didn’t happen, and don’t give me that bullsh*t that the adrenaline will carry you through the game. Watch Game 3, I will not be suprised if the refs give the little stupid fouls to the Lakers and none to the Celtics. This is David Stern’s plan to get the Finals to go seven games and raise the rating so the NBA can get money. Already the ratings are up 14% from last year and we all know he wants more.

NOTE TO DAVID STERN: Next time you want a ref to decide the game just bring back Donaghy (sp?)

  • Sopi

heres how ref called in game 1 and 2

when the begining of the ball games, lakers were winning with momentums! and the ref started to call all the little touch-fouls against lakers. by the time boston regain the lead, they have homecourt advantage cruise contol “on”. which is very difficul for any team to catch up in the playoff against such an excellent team.

look at the calls when lakers trailed 20 points!! why didnt refs called those fouls on boston when the ball game started? why do they have to wait until lakers lost by 20 points for them to make such a huge change?

GAMBLING??? the dirty David Stern try to bring the good old champ boston back???

    FCUK NBA!

How can you make a lame duck call like that instead of letting the most climatic part of the game play itself out? The whole world was watching something special but the refs sold their souls and ruined everything! I really felt like the zebras ripped my heart out, threw it onto the floor, and stampeded over it.. Then when our resilient lakers made that amazing run, I felt alive again but only later to have the refs sabotage the game again and unplug my arc reactor. I believe in our Lakers tho! they’ll overcome David Stern and his corrupted committee and bring home the SHIP!

Serious, did it really happen…did the Refs/and Boston really win it???? Wow! the Refs might of well had suited up for the game and played along side with the big 3. I can’t believe it!! I don’t know about the rest of you Laker Fans but I really don’t think the Lakers have a chance with this one. First of all, Lakers defense is terrible and by them coming back home I don’t think it will help. Secondly, Pau does not match up to Garnett likewise Odom and or any laker to Pierce. The Lakers and the LA bench to Bos bench….NO way!! Sorry guys we’ll see ya next season. I see the Lakers getting only two at home and we will be going back to Boston and Boston will win it in 6.

Great point. Jeff Van Gundy should not be covering the Finals. I was not intrigued one bit by his broadcast and his insulting remarks questioning why Kobe made the First All Defensive Team. Keep in mind that the balder and skinnier Van Gundy has no championships in the bag and neither does his brother. Kobe may have not been himself tonight, but he should be credited for trying to pull it off on the offensive end for his contribution of 30 points and 8 assists. That’s great! The Lakers managed to come back from a 24-point deficit to be within two points during the last minute thanks to the MVP.

Also, I gotta agree with MambaKB24. If Od’s gets caught one more time for weed he will be out of the NBA. He needs to get his act together because the way he is playing it’s like he’s abusing something before games. Od’s earned 10 points and 8 rebounds, way below his double-double season average of 14.6 pts and 10.10 rbs.

I still must give props to the Lakers. The Lakers were able to make an incredible turnaround by facilitating the Celtics hasty thought of victory. This game took me back to 1985 at the Memorial Day Massacre where the Lakers were destroyed in Finals Game 1 (although I was not yet born, I vividly can remember watching it twice on ESPN classic). After that loss, the Lakers managed to win the championship. Anything is possible and it has been done before – I smell a comeback. I am proud to be a Laker fan and know that my team will not let me down =)

I bet the Lakers to win the NBA Finals!!!!

i dont know wtf is with these refs starting the game putting lakers in foul trouble and in the penalty early so those green wimps can shoot free throws while we have to be get fouled hared than they do just to get a friggin call go our way. our team lacked aggression you say? how the hell can lakers be aggressive defense if all the refs see is fouls? fouls kept us from driving because they werent calling shiit on the celtics whenever lakers got hacked.

  • rmac

the officiating was terrible… if the laker’s had gotten the calls they deserved laker’s would have shut the f*cking celtics up…. and won the damn game… but when it comes down to it…. celtics still outplayed the laker’s for most of the game… i’m glad that the laker’s found some emotion and rallied back, but the conclusion is still the same, the laker’s lost and now they have an even more difficult rest of the series ahead of them… hopefully the laker’s can find the emotion and determination to carry out 3 wins at home and shut the celtics down…. laker’s in 7…. i hope

I agree!!!! We should send letters and or petitions to the NBA. Because this is BS! First of all, since KG got traded to Bos followed by the Pau trade I think D.Stern and the NBA set up the Lakers/Boston Finals and now Stern (the bastard)wants to humiliate the Lakers and has told his Guruos (the Refs) to do their “job” and do dirty to the Lakers!!!

THIS IS ALL A SET UP PEOPLE!!!! And because of this let’s boycott or do some type of protest against the NBA Now!!!!!

WOW! We must be on the same level because you took the words right out of my mouth. I was the first to say it in my comments in the blog after the first game and I’m gonna say it again, we can beat the Celtics but we can’t beat the refs. Their up 2-0 in the series. This series is like the Miami – Dallas NBA finals. David Stern is gonna reward Garnett with the Trophy like how he did for Shaq in Miami as part of a Thank You for doing so much for the league as their careers are winding down. Boston is only built for 2 good years at best and the Lakers are practically built for the next 8 years. He knows even if the Lakers aren’t gonna win it all this year, they’ll still be favorites to win it all next year so mine as well give it to the Old Leprechauns this year because the Celtics are headed for lottery ville soon and this will only help the NBA market in Boston and keep the fake champs in the East Coast. Its kind of a story the NBA wants to start up by saying which power house west coast teams wants to take out the only strong East Coast team who happens to be the NBA champs. I’m so over it. This years Finals is so tainted that its not fun to watch anymore!

F U C K the Vegas odds makers too, over 85% of the bets for the first two games were on the Lakers to win or cover. Laker Fans heres a sign, check the spread for game 3. If the Lakers are favored by more than 6, the NBA is setting it up for them to win. I just checked and the Lakers are giving 8 1/2 to Boston. That means everyone jumps on Boston to cover that spread. Its so sad how tainted these Finals are that they can’t leave it up the player to decide who should win but rather how to make the most money. Without the help of the refs, the series is either tied 1-1 or we’re up 2-0

  • http://WWW.MYSPACE.COM/FLYESTKIDEVER mattod122

i attended the game and by far it was the worst officiating i have ever seen. when a man that no one in boston even knows named powe drops 21 and drives the whole court for a uncontested dunk something is wrong. we didnt get one defensive rebound all 4th quarter till about 5 min left which was terrible. we dont d up and we dont rebound until the axe is right about to cut our heads off. then we play lights out basketball for 5 min and erase a 20+ point lead. it was sick thank god boston fans are the nicest people ever cause no one talked any shit after the game. i would have ended up in prison if it was any other city on the east coast. its time for a home stand, its time for us to play like western conf champs, its time for showtime. this leauge is going to milk this series for everything its worth. call every game till its game 7, then the refs are gona let us play. June 19th Boston game 7. I will be there to witness greatness at our finest hour . Los Angeles Lakers 2007-2008 NBA Champions.

p.s. Paul Pierce just made the Special Olympics Wheel Chair basketball squad so watch out now.

  • NBA Fan

    Honestly, quit complaining and crying.

The Lakers did this to themselves. That stretch of what it seemed like rediculous one way officiating, the Lakers took it to the basket once, when Boston kept pounding it in every time. The Lakers stood around taking jump shots and turning the ball over, while the Celtics went into the paint. Other than Turiaf’s block on Powe, the other foul calls were legitmate. It just seemed one sided because the Lakers didn’t give themselves the opportunities to draw and fouls.

  • Smush Walton

You would think after the Tim Donaghy scandal the NBA would have been purged of corrupt officiating, but after watching the first two games of the finals it is clear that this is not the case. Sad but true. Unfortunately, throughout history the Celtics have always been the darlings of the league office. Year after year they’ve had their whistle blowing Celtics to help screw their opponent and give their beloved Celtics the extra push they needed to win the title. Read a recent book on Wilt where they refer to Mendy “the Celtic” Rudolph, long time NBA head official. It took a truly great team of Magic & Kareem to finally overcome the whistle blowing leprechans.

Obviously, its time to get their beloved Celtics back on top. The word has come down from Stern, and the fix is in. The refs got their marching orders and the line is being towed.

Utterly disgusting! Bring back Tim Donaghy!
    Thank you Stern, you SOB!

  • tmac

The real Big 3 in the Celtics are the referees.

  • Smush Walton

Phil Jackson sumed it up in the postgame press conference.

In 14 minutes Leon Powe gets more free throws than the entire Laker team for the whole game. Utterly ridiculous!

I thought Tim Donaghy was booted out of the league but it looks like he’s back wearing Celtic Green! Let’s hear it for the Celtic Mystique!

  • drake hunter

Alrite, you guys F’d up for not making that call against Fisher on Brent Barry at the end of game 4 against the Spurs. Don’t hold it against us in the Finals. Damn, call an even game both ways. How the F U C K are we suppose to be more physical than Boston when we get call for the fouls and Boston doesn’t. I’m tired of these damn reporters and commentators calling the Lakers soft. Their playing just as physical and getting the same contact as the Celtics only the Celtics don’t get called for the fouls and the Lakers do. Ronny, I got your back, that was a damn clean block you got on POW or whatever the F U C K his name was and even Jeff Van Gundy thought so. Gasol tell Skinny Bones Garnett to stop riding on your back while you were putting in that lob pass from Kobe. I guess Garnett had to closeline you for that to be called a foul.

  • Rinnegato

F U C K the refs man!!! I swear, this group of officials better not officiate any remaining games of the finals! So so sickening! Boston S U C K S!

  • drake hunter

One more thing to note before I go to bed. Is it just me or did anyone notice that it was such a COINCIDENCE that the NBA decided to do a half time special on Leon POW growing up through rough times in the projects or whatever and making it to the NBA in the exact same game that he had a break-out performance in the playoffs. Thats so freakin weird and IRONIC how that happened. Damn, you guys are too good but you couldn’t pull a fast one on me. Leon POW scores maybe 4 points the next game!…lol

Yes, I think we (the LakerNation) saw everything…from the Refs dirty calls & game, Powe having a break out game to the Old dirty bastard, David Stern sitting in the arena smiling at his B-ish Garnett & Drama Queen Pierce. I don’t know but the only time I have seen his old a$$ (Stern) in L.A. during the whole season…from when the season started in Oct to Now was only “ONCE”….when his fat a$$ came to present KOBE with the MVP trophy only! This series is fixed by the NBA…I’m telling you guys. I hope I’m wrong, but we will be back here on June the 17th when the Celtics win the Championship, cause that’s how the NBA & Stern want’s it to be!

  • Smush Walton

    Yeah, Joseph is a DICK!

Ship him back to Bean Town where he belongs.

On defense, the lakers played very poor especially vlad rad.
On offense, the lakers settled for jump shots, didn’t take the ball to the rim.

  • kobe4ever

i am so bummed, someone please give me some hope…please. i know in 06′ miami won all three games at home and went on to win the series in 6. but it seems like the refs and the whole world is against us and rooting for Boston. someone please…give me some hope, of any kind. I love my Lakers and I can’t stand to see this happening, why can’t they just let them play? I don’t understand how the refs could do this 2 games in a row…

  • lakersftw

The refs were definitely unfair. You should have seen staples center in frsutration with every single whistle against us. SO MUCH frustration that THREE fights from different parts of the arena broke out between lakers and celtics fans! One after the other. Punches were exchanged, chairs (the ones behind the free throw line) were thrown, and a celtics jersey was kicked and stomped to the ground :). Oh man, if you went to the home court advantage, you would know what I’m talking about. They were definitely the highlights of the game. Coincidentally, we caught up within single digits by the end of the third fight. My guess is that if one more fight broke out, we would have totally won.

Moving along, we definitely have to our next three games at home if we even want to consider a chance in taking the series considering how we did games 1 and 2. The last time we came back from a 0-2 in the playoffs was against the spurs a few years back with fisher’s 0.4. The tables have definitely turned and now we’re the underdogs.

P.s. I wasn’t born yet to know what the lakers vs celtics rivarly was to hate the celtics but I’m starting to.

  • domz

Keep your heads up guys. I still believe and we all should believe that we can win this finals series.I just said that because of what i see in the final minutes of the 4th Quarter, i saw the lakers who attack the basket with their up tempo game. And seeing Kobe make his shots inside,. I think Boston’s D stoll has some flaws.

    This sums it all up

I totally agree with what he had to say. That is the plain truth. Did you hear that David J. Stern? (is he going to fine me too for writing on NBA related websites?!)

  • joseph

my boy Paul Pierce is going back home to face his lakers at staples.. in front of the very eyes of magic and im gonna bet we’re in for a wild ride! Game 3 will be a dynamo…too much pierce too much garnett and too much allen plus one tenacious D.

faker fans might get what they wish for in the beginning of the series that the finals will end in Los Angeles…

    celtics in 4!!!

    ps.
rondo’s block on rad was sweet! now thats what you call defense!!!

  • Showtime

Hey Joseph, “Thats what she said”

  • Luis24

We will win, Kobe will takeover in LA, we will win 3 and it will be 3-2. Game 6 Kobe will not let us lose!!!! We had 2 great runs. Stupid Refs I mean wow you can’t look at Paul Pierce without being a foul. What the hell were those fouls on Kobe?!?!? Look LO still plying bad once he gets asserted we will win!!!!! LA in 6!!!!!

  • nayrb_883

God bailed on us at the last minute. but thanks anyway for letting the lakers get within 2 :P

  • nayrb_883

The refs are sleeping man, the refs are trying to protect paul “fears” because they buy his “injury” so to speak. I watched the Lakers vs. the Fakers led by pierce. damn I hate the pierce.. being born in LA doesn’t make you an actor. And the closing play.. wth! gasol barely touched pierce.. i thought SaVu got fouled on that 3.. but they should’ve gotten the ball Kobe.. what’s having the ultimate closer if you’re not gonna use ‘em… the refs sucked… joey crawford is better than the 3 of you combined… im so disappointed ken mauer… for the rest of the series, let dick bavetta, steve javie, eddie f rush do the games… cause crawford might throw someone out for laughing.

  • sK

    LAKER FANS. Feeling you!!

Remember 04′ in the conference semi’s when we couldnt stop tony parker and the spurs at home… losing the first (2) games, down 0-2. It was horrible. Remember Payton getting all the blame and what not etc? Then what happened. We brought it home and played our hearts out!! We won the next (2) home games, took one at SA (0.4 remmeber) and then came home to close it out!

I haave no doubt that Lakers will elevate play…. they were worse off in that series than this one guys and we came back!

screw the refs, we’ll have to beat them too.

    have Faith!

  • lakerfan81

This game was not decided by the refs. Boston simply out played the Lakers, greatly outplayed the Lakers. Thats not to say that refereeing was not horrendous. It was the worst officiated game I have ever seen. Boston was allowed to play way more physical than the lakers were. Its hard to play defense when you can’t tell how the game is going to be officiated. When you are getting hacked, grabbed, banged and pushed on one end, and nothing is getting called, you will tend to think that you will get away with the same thing. But when you get called for the same fouls that were ignored on the other end you tend to get really passive on defense.

The Lakers let the Refs get into their head. That shouldn’t happen, but it did. Hopefully the Lakers play better at home. I thought going into this series that the teams were evenly matched and that not team winning would be an upset. The Lakers need to win all three at home, which is not easy. The 2-3-2 format greatly favors the team with home court advantage. I much prefer the 2-2-1-1-1 format.

  • DingleBerry

38-10 free throws are you kidding me??? well its pretty obvious the league wants this series to go 7 games. i just hope in game 7 the free throw disparity evens out so the best team wins. 38-10 wow…

  • Michael_23

Mark Jackson said, “Okay if you’re going to call ticky tacky fouls, you have to make the call consistently.” The calls never went against the Celtics and always went against us. Especially in the first half. When LO and Kobe had 3 fouls apiece. This is a perfect example of sending this tape to the front office and letting them observe how this game favored the Celtics in the first half.

This was the stupidest officiated game I’ve ever seen whether I’m a Laker fan or not. Horrible …

[Comment ID #38820 Will Be Quoted Here]

The Lakers played aggressively too, with the exception of the Leon Powe coast to coast dunk. They just couldn’t assert themselves to equal the aggressiveness of the Celtics because the refs were just not allowing the Lakers to get in any type of flow. That is why Kobe stood up and take a technical foul.

People talk about the rivalry because of the physical play of the 80′s. But it’s not going to equal that because you can’t touch your opponent anymore.

  • lalball81

You guys are so quick to blame the refs. Yes, the Celtics shot 28 more free throws than us and we probably deserved a couple more, but the blame goes to the team for not attacking the hoop. Most of our offense came from the perimeter.

What they have to do is attack the rim and FORCE the officials to make a call. It’s not good enough to bail them out by taking long jumpshots, create contact at the rim and put the refs in a position to call a foul.

That’s exactly what Boston did. They were an unstoppable machine for the most part offensively, getting to the rim at will and nailing threes from the outside. The Lakers have no answer for Pierce or Garnett, and they’re getting punished.

To say the refs didn’t allow the Lakers to get a flow is ridiculous. A championship team doesn’t need the refs to help them win games! What a good team does is play THROUGH the calls, and recognizes that their will be good calls as well as bad ones going both ways.

  • lakerfan81

laball81. The lakers attacked the basket as often as Boston did. They just never got called for a foul. I think the Lakers actually ended up with more points in the paint. It just seemed like Boston was more aggressive because they got all the calls. And they completely outplayed the Lakers in the 3rd quarter (well most of the game but especially inthe 3rd quarter). Boston deserved to win this game, but the FT disparity can not be explained by saying Boston attacked more, thats simply not true.

  • beats are us

bad officiating or not, that cant be an excuse..

Lakers will win this game for sure. Kobe will show why he is the best player on the planet and the mvp. he is going to light it up tonight.

Don’t be a Dingleberry!!! Or should we now call you a Jinx???

  • ab4sure

The big difference in these teams is experience. Boston is not only tougher but also they are smarter. Notice when the lakers had fastbreaks that were going to give them a sure 2 pts. boston players would make a quick foul before the lakers could get a shot off and the best the lakers got was the ball out of bounds. Also, in the beginning of the game when Perkins was called for an illegal screen Doc Rivers harped on the Ref and wanted to make sure the Refs weren’t going to allow them to make tough screens. Boston experienced players almost intimidated the refs into calling fouls. Refs are more likely to listen to vet players like cassell, garnett, allen, etc… than sasha, farmar, radman, Odom, Pau, etc… Boston players know how to complain, Laker players know how to whine. That being said Refs will need to call a few more against the celtics esp. the grabbing and holding in order for the game to be fair.

  • goodfella

    10 to 38. WTF

  • LakersFirst

Yes, the free throw discrepency is clearly obvious, however, the Lakers are not doing themselves any favors by settling for jump shots and not attacking the rim. Notice how Boston attacks the paint and the rim, where the Lakers settle for outside shots. Even on fast breaks, the Lakers are not attacking the rim.

  • Ira

That’s the stat of it all 10 to 38…B.S all the way through!

Also, to go along with that is the play of some of the Laker players, they need to wake up. And another thing first it was PJ Brown in the first game, now Leon Powe in game 2??? Lamar and all the other big men, step up!

It’s time for some home cooking, it will be chicken soup for the soul. Let’s do this, this series is far from over! Time to make it happen! (If the Sterns allow it to be? We shall see.)

  • sammie

if the lakers loose game 3 then it is SO over, better luck next year, but we will keep on fighting to the very end! just wait until those celtics come to L.A. territory, then their gonna be sorry

  • lakerschamps08

ok look we can blame refs but fuk if we gotta win the championship playin 5 vs 8 thats fine even sweeter when we win… now powe gettting 13 free throws and us only 10 hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm naw wait hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm thats sounds rite i mean powe has been in the league a LONG time and he is a superstar sooooo yea he should get 13 free throw attempts… but we played terrible in 3rd Q again thats two games now… great comeback but sasha got fouled on the 3 point attempt and once noooooo call.. and then posey travelled and if u try and say derek pushed him stfu he travelled first but i guess they dont call travelling cuz radman travelled taking like 4 steps to dunk the ball to make it a 2 point…lol
but yea wtf when we were down 4 why did kobe not get ball to shot????? wtf now his teammates cant even get him the balll.. come onnnnn.
but yea refs were bullshitin big time. if it happens in any of the games in LA than the league has decided who they want to be the nba champs…. fuk that we still winnin it all… GO LAKERS

  • BringDFishBack

4 Plays made the game for me:
    1. Farmar blocks Cassell on a baseline fadeaway. Ariza grabs the ball, gets hit about 6 times and loses the ball. Ariza dives for it and hits the hand of whoever had just grabbed the ball. Foul.
    2. Farmar drives and is about to get a layup. Then, one of his arms is grabbed and he is spun around, forced to throw it up with his free arm to avoid a travel and it barely grazed the rim. No foul.
    3. Someone (I think Kobe) throws a perfect alley-oop to Pau. Pau grabs it and dunks it. Meanwhile he is tackled by KG and winds up in the first row with KG on top of him. No foul.
    4. Someone on the Celtics (I think Powe) drives baseline. He goes up for a layup on one side, but Pau is coming from behind for the block. So Powe goes up and under to the other side and flips it up. Odom had been standing at the spot on the other side of the basket since Powe first drove baseline. Powe goes into him (LO hasn’t moved and his arms are straight up). Foul.

  • gugy

Well, the Lakers has not lost any game at home this playoff season. So let’s assume we will win 3 games and then go to Boston 3×2. I still have hope and the refs probably will officiate in favor of the Lakers at home. At least I hope so.

The Lakers NEED TO ATTACK THE RIM!!!!!! Boston is doing that with more confidence. Lamar, specially him needs to step up and attack the rim like he did against Utah. Pau played much better game 2 and Kobe I hope he will find a way to have his killer instinct back.

    Go Lakers!!!!!!!!!

dont worry guys still remember what happen to the dallas and heat series, mavs was up 2 – 0 then they lost 4 straight to miami, this series aint over. Laker now figured out how to score against these guys, lakers scored 41 points in the 4th quarter. Lakers in 6. Trust me Lakers will win.

  • lalakerfan1980

guys don’t worry , I know the official called a horrible game, but this series is money for the NBA and ABC , they want this to go the distancea and it will, the Lakers will get thoes calls on their favor and will get the 3 games in L.A . Kobe just needs to continue atacking their defence. Guys we will be fine, the celtics are a good team but not better than us, we will prevail. I also think the comeback last night showed everyone that we are better, when you almost blow a 23 point lead in the 4th quater, you dont deserve to win a championship.

  • xx8baller34xx

okay, all this stuff about the lakers not being aggressive enough is ridiculous, we had more pts in the paint than they did. we shoulda had more but we got no calls, dont blame the lakers for starting to take more jumpers cuz if u tried to go to the rim every time and didnt get a call or it resulted in a turnover, then im pretty sure u’d start shooting J’s too. its boston vs lakers, its not gonna be a sweep, nor will it end in game 5. this is a DREAM matchup for the NBA, the refs, david stern, critics, and both teams are gonna rig the games so it goes at least 6 or 7. compared to the past NBA finals seasons when ratings were hella low, the NBA is goin to take advantage of this series and extend it to go 6 or 7. lakers are the better team, bos bench wont show up in LA, and u can bet on that. lakers in 7.

I don’t know if SMALL comparisons will make any different in helping the chances, but it sure can be used as an example of having faith.

2004, we were outplayed by Spurs and lost both games 1 and 2 at San Antonio by 10 each and we knew that we won 4 straight after that closing it in L.A.

1993: Phil Jackson’s Chicago Bulls team were down 0-2 to the New York Knicks who also had home court advantage in the conference finalS. BULLS losT by 8 in first game and 5 in second (similar to ours?) The Bulls came back and win 4 straight also. I know the Bulls had MJ, but that was HIS time, this is KB24′s time.

Like one of Phil Jackson’s old Chicago Bulls assistant in 93 said…”let’s use Chicago [stadium] as a springboard…and lets make them [knicks] pay a price…and the price was don’t let them out with a win no matter what…” – John Bach 1993

Laker nation, have faith!! lets take it ONE GAME AT A TIME…let us use Staples Center as a springboard and make Boston pay a price…DO NOT LET THEM OUT WITHOUT A WIN!!

I’m not even gonna comment about the officiating. We all know how it was! I’ll only complain about one call… WTF was wrong with the ref that called the 2nd foul on Kobe?!? Are you sh*ttin me? That little love tap against Ray and it was called for an offensive foul? Where’s the league to come in and say that that shouldn’t have been a foul! That changed the whole complexion of the game. Boston outscored us 12-3 with Kobe on the bench. When we were only down 4 at the end, you don’t think that would have changed the outcome? F*** the F***in Refs!!!!! And the League!!!!

THE OFFICIATING CREWS HAVE RENAMED THE NBA. “NO BASKETBALL ALLOWED.” RATINGS HAVE BEEN GOING UP BECAUSE OF THE ANTICIPATON OF A BATTLE BETWEEN THE TITANS AND INSTEAD WE ARE GETTING A FREE THROW CONTEST… AND IT’S NOT EVEN BETWEEN 2 TEAMS. IT’S AN INTRAMURAL CONTEST BETWEEN THE CELTICS STARTERS AND THE CELTICS BENCH.

I DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU GUYS BUT, I’LL DEFINITELY SHOW THE HIGHSCHOOL VARSITY TEAM, THAT I COACH, THE TAPES. WE NEED A GOOD VIDEO TO SHOW PROPER FORM WHEN FOLLOWING THROUGH ON OUR FREE THROW SHOT. WHO CARES THAT IN BETWEEN IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE PINNACLE BATTLE BETWEEN THE BEST BASKETBALL TEAMS IN THE WORLD?

THESE FINALS SO FAR HAVE BEEN A JOKE AND THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING. WAY TO GET THE FANS BACK NBA…WAY TO GO. THIS IS LIKE WATCHING A FOOTBALL TEAM WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP BECAUSE THE REFS KEEP ADVANCING THEM 5 YARDS AT A TIME AND THEN PENALIZING THE OTHER TEAM EVERYTIME THEY RUN THEIR OFFENSE. Face it everybody, these NBA Finals are a gigantic cash cow. Ratings are up, sell outs across the board, advertising dollars pouring in, memorabilla, etc…

These are the finals of the decade, something the NBA has been waiting for. Do you think they’re going to let the Lakers win it in 4 or 5, especeially when we all know they could. No way. They’re gonna milk this cow for every drop it’s got. That means 7 games, probably down to the last minute.

NBA needs and wants ratings. And they’re gonna get it as long as they have conrol over the officiating.

    Lakers all the way!

  • gugy

F U C K the NBA, the refs and David Stern

  • JohnnyFromFontana

Geloman says it right. I’ve been telling everyone out here that the NBA is milking all this ish. It sucks that the NBA has to do this for their benefits. I love the NBA and love the Lakers with a Muthaphukkin passion but after game 2, it dented my love for the league. It sucks that Stern sees this ish and doesn’t take action (F U STERN!). People are saying that besides the refs giving the game to the Celts, the Lakers aren’t playing well anyways. If you think about it, the Lakers have had to adjust their game and tempo because of the refs. We are supposed to be more physical in game 2 and we get all the fouls. Why didn’t the refs call the traveling on Radman? I’m happy they didn’t but it shows how blatant the officiating was. And as much as I don’t want to see it, the refs are going to make sure we win at least two with that foul treatment bullshlt. CALL AN EVEN GAME ZEBRAS SO THE BEST TEAM IS REVEALED, THE LAKERS! Lakers in 7 (due to the refsa and NBA).
