Interesting news, this report claims Taylor is now “content” with making it work with KG. It will be interesting, if true, to see what happens if they have yet another losing record and miss the playoffs again; this could change everything at the end of next season.

WCCO: The Minnesota Timberwolves think they have a winner in Corey Brewer. The only flaw they picked up regards his shooting mechanics which they think can be fixed with foot work.

The Wolves would like Brewer, Rashad McCants and Craig Smith to go back to Las Vegas for an NBA type camp at the end of the month.

The word is owner Glen Taylor is now content making it work with Kevin Garnett as the center piece.

at the end of next season KG is too damn old

It looks like an opinion rather than news. Also, very interesting quote:

“The word is owner Glen Taylor is now content making it work with Kevin Garnett as the center piece.”

“Glen Taylor is NOW content”, with other words he wasn’t content BEFORE.

That says it all, Taylor prefers a trade.

Too little too late Mr. Taylor.

WELL IT LOOKS LIKE WERE NOT GETTING GARNETT OR ONEIL. WE’LL JUST HAVE TO WAIT TILL THEY OPT OUT NEXT YEAR AND SIGN ONE OF THEM WITH THE MLE. NOW WE HAVE TO MAKE THAT TRADE FOR ARTEST. KWAME AND FARMAR OR VLAD AND FARMAR WHICHEVER THEY PREFER PROBALY KWAME BECAUSE OF HIS CONTRACT.

why does he think a couple rookies will make his team a whole lot better?

  • BEC

Taylors just holding out for a better deal, which he is not going to get, because no one in minny seems to know how to build a contender or even rebuild the team properly. KG center piece for what losing? Veteran KG plus young talent doesnt equal a rebuild or a contender or even a playoff team especially in the west.
If KG doesnt end up getting traded, which would boggle the mind, i bet that with the way KG is as a person, with his EXTREME loyalty, he’ll be easily convinced to resign and I think Taylor and Mchale know that because they knew as well as the entire bball world that the best deal they could ever make for KG was really at draft day. Because they know better than anyone the way KG feels and they would know if KG was really going to opt out this year and if they knew he was really going to opt out they would have pulled the trigger already but they know they probably will get KG to resign easily, so no moves. Just a thought.
But if Taylor and Mchale have even half a brain, theyll do it now because once the season starts and trade deadline hits and Minny will finally realize bynums there best option, all leverage is with the lakers, and if Mitch plays it right well which i bet he will atleast i hope, Minny wont end up getting our other young talent in crit and farmar, and just bynum, picks and fillers, maybe well even keep odom and give them the crappy contracts of cook and vlad but that wont likely happen.
This would be the best scenario for purple and gold, KG not traded and opts out, looks for a team to go to, and chooses the LAKERS cuz heck we got the best player in the universe, a versatile forward in odom, a good young center in bynum by now, a great guard in fish and we will just sign KG for veteran min or MLE cuz money doesnt matter and its all about winning now. And like i and many Laker fans will be attending the Laker parade in LA for the 10th year in a row and watch Kobe go down as the GOAT.

Either way KG will be a LAKER and in the purple and gold.

Taylor just admit it…. you want to kill KG’s career and make him suffer… don’t fool us with that crap.

Well said. Honestly, if we stay healthy, this team can win 50 games. We were on track to win that many last year until injuries kicked in. I think this years team is much better, the trick is just to say healthy. I think if we can get Artest and with a better Bynum, we should be able to win 55 games.

Its all good, what e really have to hope for is that we play well enough to show kobe that we have a chance at a championship in the next couple of years. Our F.O. has really messed things up, but hopfully we can make some moves in our favor next summer to get us over that hump. Kobe needs to mend fences with his teammates so everyone aint walkin on egg shells. I really dont think we’re gonna make any more deals this summer.

This is something to think about. If the Lakers are going for another big man maybe they are making a big trade or at least think its a very good possibility.

You gonna stay with Detroit? What’s going on with that? Chris Webber: I don’t know. I would love to. Right now I’m thinking about Detroit and Dallas, so you never know. Watch out for BShaw though he’s trying to get me in LA! Slam

Miami is looking to get a PG by trade. Maybe they would be interested in a Farmar or Critt Vlad for Haslem. I doubt it. Maybe if you through in a draft pick and they could not find anything better. If the Lakers got Haslem they would have a true PF and could move Odom to SF.

Good post BEC. I think the best offer they had on draft day was the one from Lakers which was torpedoed by McHale foolishly in absence of Glen Taylor. Suns were offering Marion and filler and I firmly believe that Suns jumped in the mix to thwart KG’s trade to LA, they knew their offer isn’t good enough. GSW’s offer was not considered probably because KG didn’t like the idea of moving to Oakland.

I’m not sure if I agree with you that the draft day was the best day to trade KG. It usually is a great opportunity but in KG case, it wouldn’t make a huge difference except the draft choice. Also, if the trade talks revive again, be sure to see many teams bidding on him for obvious reasons.

And finally, the idea of KG signing for Vets Min. or MLE is in my opinion a bit wishful thinking; KG’s salary is $46-Mil for the next 2 years and after that, at the age 33, he could land a $40-$50 Mil. 3 years contract. However, we have seen Malone leaving $15-Mil on the table to join Lakers at Vet Min. but he was almost 40 years old to that time. Karl Malone is 44 years old today.

    Lakerfan81,

I visited that link on slamonline, is that Ray Charles on that photo??haha
Actually, interesting comments. thank you for the link.

Even though this website is make with the hopes of KG coming to LA, Laker fans, get over it, obviously KG doesnt want to come here, hes happy being a loser at Minny and his FO is worse then the Lakers front office, which i thought was impossible. Stop hoping for dreams, cause Garnett is not coming to LA, hes a happy loser so lets keep him that way in Minny.

    Cyrus,

Yeah it is wishful thinking, itll likely not happen, but just imagining and thinking of that team on the floor just flashes back the days of our 9 NBA world championships and the great talent and depth we had during showtime. A man can dream.

On draft day i do think they could have easily gotten a top ten pick in that draft which would make a HUGE difference because minny really wanted noah who went ninth to the bulls to team up with their pick brewer, both gators. I bet a three team trade would have easily happened if minny was REALLY WILLING to make a trade, especially with the lakers and bobcats. Bobcats really wanted a veteran, they really wanted to give up that 8th pick, and bobcats could have gotten odom instead, which to me is a lot better than getting jason richardson for their 8th pick and they said themselves they were willing to be a third team to make a kg trade go down. It might go something like bynum, charlotte 8th pick to minny, kg lakers, and odom to bobcats, with the fillers and money to make things work. How does it get any better than that? Bynum and 8th pick w/ Noah? Thats as good as a rebuild can get especially w/ there young talents like mccants and foye, great bigs with there young guards.
Just speculation but i think that could have EASILY and i mean really EASILY be done if Minny was really willing to make a trade. I think Minny just feels they deserve equal or greater value for KG and theyre just too foolish to see thats not going to happen, so theyre holding out which will only lead to minny getting less value for KG.
