Steve Nash to Lakers? Update: Knicks emerge as Front Runner

UPDATE: Sign and Trade with Lakers blocked by Suns management. Knicks now the front runners to land Nash.

Reports have begun to surface that the Lakers would be interested in acquiring the All-Star Point Guard. Nash, 38, was still very productive last season, averaging over 12 points and 10 assists per game.  Sources state that Suns owner, Robert Sarver, would be reluctant to trade Nash to a division rival.

Lakers are limited in free agency and would only be able to offer Nash the mini-MLE at $3M per season. However, the Lakers could try to acquire Nash with the $9M trade player exception that they received from the Lamar Odom trade last December.

Nash was recently quoted as saying “…it would be hard to put on a Lakers jersey”
