This isn’t a surprise, but in ESPN’s Mark Stein’s latest chat, he believes at this upcoming season’s deadline – the last chance Minny would have to trade KG before he has the option to opt out of his contract – is when they will “consider” a Garnett trade:
Ken (St. Paul): Thank you for paying attention to what the Wolves are saying and clarifying for everyone that the Wolves aren’t interested in trading KG. It gets old to listen to all the trade speculation and people thinking the Wolves and other small market teams should be minor league feeder systems for the big markets like LA, Chicago, NY, and Boston.
Marc Stein: (11:48 AM ET ) Just to be clear, Ken. I don’t agree with what they’re saying. They should be trying to get Marion and more from Phoenix for KG. They can get two or three front-line players from the Suns for KG. But the latest intel says that the Wolves will instead wait until February, when KG is only a few months away from opting out of his deal to become a free agent, before seriously considering a trade.
