What’s that? Garnett to L.A.? Hey it took another month in a half but we’re keeping the dream alive, baby! Here is the latest from Minnesota’s STAR TRIBUNE on the Garnett “trade rumors & speculation.”

Star Tribune: The Boston trade, unfortunately, figures to be more ESPN speculation than fact. If Garnett does get traded, the logical location remains the Los Angeles Lakers. For the Lakers, that would shut up Kobe Bryant and make tickets inside the Staples Center almost as tough to get as they were when Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal were together.

This would require McHale pushing Indiana out of the way in the Pacers attempt to trade Jermaine O’Neal to the Lakers for a package including Andrew Bynum, Luke Walton (sign and trade), Kwame Brown and the 19th pick in the draft. Throw in Brian Cook with that package and the money would work for Garnett to go to the Lakers.

finally, some garnett speculation again, haha! it has been interesting, this site was initially started to get garnett, then it moved on to jermaine o’neal, so how fitting that it comes full circle and comes back to the topic of get garnett. i think the proposed deal from the article is fair, however, i dislike the thought of having to trade walton to minnesota. i think it is fair enough to package a deal consisting of bynum, brown, radmanovic, cook, and the 19th pick. that’s literally 5 players for 1, it’s highway robbery, but i guess it has to be done to appease kobe and bring the lakers back into contention.

i propose trading bynum (central piece), brown, radmanovic, cook, and the 19th pick for garnett. i also think that minnesota should send craig smith along with garnett as well because i heard from a previous rumor that smith will decline an offer to return to the timbervolves. so if in fact this trade goes through, the lakers can get garnett and also back up the front line with smith and turiaf.

so this is how it may look (and it also worked with the trade machine fron espn)

lakers send bynum, brown, radmanovic, cook, plus 19th pick to minnesota and minnesota sends garnett and smith over to the lakers. smith is a low salary player and can really help the lakers front line after giving up 4 of the lakers big men.

probable lakers roster if this deal is done

    C- garnett, mihm
    PF- odom, turiaf, smith
    SF- walton
SG- bryant, evans (or SF), vujacic
PG- farmar, use mle to sign another pg (mo williams)

use 2 remaining draft picks to select a forward and a guard

  • mj2kb

dude the least we can do is give them walton too, i mean come on we’re basically raping them on this deal. There not gettin a all-star in return

  • mj2kb

well i guess im happy its at least a speculation

  • http://www.kb24.com darkice18

At 22, Kobe & Lebron had both played in a 4 game series vs the Spurs. He’re the stats:

    (2001) Kobe: 33pts on 51% shooting – 12 turnovers less than Lebron’s total. 4 wins.

    (2007) Lebron: 22pts on 35% shooting – 4/20 from 3pt range. 4 losses.

Lebron struggled badly vs San Antonio at 22. Kobe at 22 was incredible, we all witnessed it.

GREAT IDEA MAN….luke is definitely better than Vlade so we gotta keep him at all costs…also is there anyway we can get Artest still?

  • punkjones

Yeah, too bad at this point no one believes this will ever happen. Sure Mitch, wave the magic wand. I’m not trying to be negative but it just doesn’t seem like this is ever going to go down. What is this guy basing his speculation on? Gut instinct? Insider info? He says “Logic.” I mean, it just seems like another puff piece. Tbere’s not one bit of real information in this. Nice to see I guess to give us all some kind of hope, but I’d rather hear that our FO has at least talked to their FO about the possibility of a trade for KG. Right now I haven’t heard anything of that nature. It just seems like it’s not even on the possibility radar for us.

  • lakersforlife77

If this did happen….It would go down as one of the single greatest pickups in sports ever. I would be more stunned by this then I would if the Lakers traded away kobe. I still don’t have any faith in the deal though, since it is just a news outlet saying it is logical and not Minnesota’s FO

  • lakersforlife77

What stuns me even more is the fact that this news outlet belives minnesota would go for a deal that doesn’t include odom. If Mitch could pull this off he would go from monkey to genious in one day. People would be praising his name all across los angeles.

  • E-ROC

Mitch needs to do something. 4 teams have improved that needed to improve and we haven’t done anything. He needs to make the Luther Head happen right now! Why aren’t we making an effort to get Gasol????

  • billlybooy

    mihm/?
    garnett/head
    odom/evans
    bryant/vujacic
    farmar/ ?

Are you STUPID???? KG AT CENTER!??? he is more af SF than a C…

if that trade runs through it would be:
    Turiaf/mihm.
    KG
    ODOM
    Kobe
    Farmer..

  • lakerfan81

Well if KG demands to be traded to the lakers and says he wil just opt out next year if he is not then this is a possibility. But it is just speculation. personally if i was trading KG right nwo I would take the boston deat. You ghet the #5 pick, al jefferson (probably has the best low post moves of any young player in the NBA right now) A huge expiring contract in Ratliff. You would have two good players and alot of cap space in a year or two to work with. With the laker deal you just get Walton and 8 mill in cap space in Brown, #19 pick. I just don’t see a KG deal going through. But we can dream though.

  • jWu

Gotta throw in somebody other than Cook. He is reportedly getting traded to Houston for Luther Head. But hell yea, make it happen NOW! DO IT DO IT DO IT.

  • lakerfan32

This trade would be amazing. But if you were Minnesota would you take bynum, kwame, and the other pieces or would you take Al Jefferson, Telfair, the no 5 pick and some other pieces for KG?

Unfortunately, I think the Celtics have a leg up on the Lakers. In addition, Kevin McHale and Ainge are former teammates and Celtics. I see them helping each other rather than the Lakers.

The only way the Lakers can make a run at KG is if they include Odom. Perhaps Odom, Bynum and another player to make the salaries work for KG.

  • evill

trade garnett, hudson for andrew bynum, kwame brown, luke walton,19th pick and parker.
use MLE for a solid point guard.
    trade cook for luther head.

  • kgmvp

    GET GARNETT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TATS LIKE DREAM COME TRUE BABY, YALL KNO WE’LL GET THE 4TH RING IN A YEAR OR 2

  • Steve

A trade that doesn’t even include Odom – OH MY!? pipe dreams i fear, mere pipe dreams…

  • lakerfan81

Here is something worth reading. I can’t take the credit for this but I ‘m not sure who wrote So I will also include the link so the credit can go to whoever deserves it.

Holy f-bomb! This just rolled in off the newswire

AP In the largest trade in NBA history, Kobe Bryant was dealt from Los Angeles to Chicago, Kevin Garnett was dealt from Minnesota to Boston, and Shawn Marion was chopped up and dealt to all five Atlantic Division teams on Thursday in a transaction involving 29 franchises and 313 players.

The Phoenix Suns acquired guard Gilbert Arenas from Washington, while the Wizards received MVP Dirk Nowitizki from the Dallas Mavericks. In addition, LeBron James was shipped to the Miami Heat, Jason Kidd ended up in Golden State, and Steve Nash is a now a Charlotte Bobcat.

The Atlanta Hawks, Orlando Magic, Denver Nuggets, Milwaukee Bucks, Indiana Pacers, Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Clippers, Seattle SuperSonics, Detroit Pistons, Portland Trail Blazers, Houston Rockets, New Orleans Hornets, Memphis Grizzlies, and Sacramento Kings were also involved in the deal. The San Antonio Spurs were not.

The trade was just a bit larger than a 13-player, five-team deal in 2005.

We traded a lot our whole team actually but we got back eleven or twelve quality players, said Bulls general manager John Paxson. Kobe Bryant is one of the very best multi-faceted, versatile players in this game. He is able to score at will, make plays, and rebound. There isnt anyone in this league with a better all-around game. Oh, yeah, were also excited to pick up Bostjan Nachbar in the deal. And Wally Szczerbiak.

Toronto also received Brandon Roy from Portland and the #2 draft pick from the Sonics; Utah received Ron Artest from Sacramento; New York picked up Cuttino Mobley from LA and a package Michael Redd, Bobby Simmons and two third-round draft picks (which dont actually exist) from Milwaukee; Atlanta acquired Amare Stoudemire from Miami and Dwight Howard from Orlando; and the Grizzlies received guard Antoine Walker from the Heat. Hes expected to be waived later this afternoon.

ESPN trade guru Chad Ford was unavailable for comment. It is believed his head exploded.

  • DeepFrost

what in the world is this?…can smb explain me PLEASE???

  • lakerfan81

Its a Joke. Its pointing out that all the media coverage of the trade rumors are just rumors nothing more and that the Media will run any story the think will sell whether there is any facts behind it or not.

  • DeepFrost

holy mackerel)) for a second though I thought it might be true)))….sheesh… gotta stop drinking this much))

  • pLzDoNtLeAvEkObE

hey well i a friend of mine just called me that kobe was traded to washington for arenas and butler can you guys please tell me this is a lie!!!!

  • Another_LAL_Fan

That’s was great! And that show what the media like to!
The Knicks realy did well on grabing those two third-round draft picks!!!
Anyway… I realy think that’s the point here. I mean, rumors are all over there but, the two trades that realy happens, has been the ones that nobody made coments.

Then, I came here and read:
“DONT BE STUPID KUPCHACK GET KG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Of course, if the Lakers had clear chances on geting KG, then I agree wiht you ‘kgmvp’. But, that’s not the case!
I just see LA working on a trade if they envolve Bynum, Odom and Brown on the deal, and like someone says here already, KG isn’t a center! And that’s just one of the problems on this pipe dream!

I realy think that LA can get much more on JO or Gasol! Let see what happen anyway!!!

i like odom but i rather they trade odom and keep bynum and luke, so odom, brown, cook, sasha

    bynum / mimh
    kg / ronny(clown)
    luke / rad
    kobe / evans
    farmar / (mr.x-factor)

  • magic32

ok i don’t understand kevin mcfail right now. on hoopsworld.com in the rumors section it says garnett to boston inching closer. and it said al jefferson and the 5th pick to minny for garnett.

    1. how is odom not better than al jefferson hes a triple – double machine when not injured.
    2. why wouldn’t minny want a young center with a bright future in andrew bynum

anyways i still think they should go for oneal, if they can find a way to keep odom they’ll have an ultimate prescence inside.

  • Fredos

I don’t see why we have to trade for KG at all. If everything goes according to plan, KG will opt out of his contract with Minnesota and join the Lakers. We won’t have to give up anything. The only thing I hope for is that the Lakers are as good as they were last year before the Odom/Walton/Brown injuries. Hell, at that time, they were in 5th in the West, significantly better than any team in the East.

  • MoneyMarl

Kevin Garnett is an idiot, He only has one year left on his contract before he opts so he holds all the leverage not the Wolves. If i was KG I’d demand to be Traded to the Lakers and the Lakers only, and If i get traded to a team other than the Lakers, I will Opt out at the end of the season–>> So no team would want to give up anything to the Wolves they’ll be forced to either trade him to the Lakers or Let him walk for nothing.
Kobe Bryant > Paul Pierce, not only that He’d have Lamar Odom on the team as 3rd scorer and 2nd best rebounder.

  • ben_The Lakers Fan

its good to hear that Minnie’s finally willing to hear offers for KG..
they know he could just walk away next yer & they wont get bynum/odom & kwame or luke in return.. so they have to go for it, like it or not..
i dont think KG will just come running to the Lakers if he opts out next year like some of you think, basically every team out there want him & would be willing to do anything to get him, so gotta do this trade now..
also, those of you who agreed with the media saying: yeah we’re tired of Kobe crying everyday lets get rid of his ass already !!
Look at what he’s accomplished, the front office’s finally doing something, i mean shit, damn kupcake’s still today saying “we’re over the cap, we can only do so much” do whatever you have to do to get us a new ring dumb ass !
If Kobe had kept his ass quiet & waited for Kupcake to do something about us losing in the 1st round every yr, this would’ve kept happening every yr til he retired, so im glad he said all the things he said.. after all, he is the Lakers today, fans pay to go see him, not Kupcake or Jim Buss..

  • Ted

I can’t believe just about every person that’s responding to this ad wants us to keep Lamar Odom. Are you guys nuts? This guy sucks, he doesnt play defense, and he NEVER EVER try and block a shot. The only thing this guy does is missing after miss after miss. Did I mention miss? I don’t care what anyone says Odom is not a good player. I think he has everyone fooled because he can dribble for a big man, but that’s all he can do. He is sooo inconsistent, one game he has 24pts and the next 10 games he will average 7 pts a game. Wake up people we need to include Odom in any trade. Get him outta Here, HE STINKS.

  • Ted

I forgot to mention thats he is also hurt a lot. Odom sucks

  • dmanxx

the time is running out! so the lakers front office should make a move RIGHT NOW!!!!! OR they’ll end up rebuilding again. Come on MITCH, kobe and the fans are FRUSTRATED!!! do something, NOW!!!!! if you can’t do anything just RESIGN!!!! we need to WIN, and that is NOW!!!! GO FOR KG that’s the best deal possible!!!! Hope the front office will consider the fans sugestions!!! we are PAYING not just WATCHING!!!!
