Let the Lakers, Timberwolves trade rumors continue…

In what has been a week filled with sources (and more sources), the latest comes via tweet from SI.com columnist Sam Amick

“As Minnesota continues search for high-level player in exchange for No. 2 pick, source says T-Wolves made offer for Lakers C Andrew Bynum.”

Rumors insist that Minnesota GM David Kahn remains resolute in his unwillingness to part with both Kevin Love and the number 2 pick in any deal. Neither the Lakers, nor the Timberwolves, have officially released any statements confirming any of the much-talked-about trade proposals floating around the internet this week.

Even so, as our own Kevin Figgers like to say, where there’s smoke, there’s usually a fire…

    noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

  • Andrew8000

why would we want a two pic whens theres no clear cut top tier this year. lame.

  • @TBullock23

the problem with this is  Mr Buss named Mike Brown and Andrew Bynum in his “untouchables” in regards to possible changes for this upcoming season

  • x562x

i do it if u can get kevin love with it

  • http://twitter.com/dstahcs Derrek Stahcs

If the Lakers are after Dwight Howard anyway, then getting rid of Bynum’s contract can open the door for other possibilities.

  • Ewilliams90724

Untouchable……..mr buss didn’t say shit that’s all speculation ……any trade is possible unless there was a no trade clause…..kinda like the one in kobes contract, and considering that they recently gave bynum a new contract and there was no clause of that sort bynum is available for the right price

  • uMad?

Minnesota offer is a fucking insult!!!!!!!! lol wow

  • Brandenflorence24

do it but not pau we need him

  • yesisaidit

ridiculous trade offer. Pau for K Love works for me

  • Ljuice770

i say johnny flynn, wesley johnson, and milicic for bynum.

    • Anonymous

Right on the money!  I wouldn’t trade Pau unless LKove was involved, but Bynum for that group+ #2?…Yes!  They are young with upside.  Bynum’s legacy so far is an elbow to JJ Barea’s ribs, and surgeries.  With the #2 pick, the Lakers can also deal.  The Pacers, Knicks, and other teams are looking to uptrade.  We can get One to Two 1st rounders if not picking #2; plus young promising reserves; plus lowering our payroll, and keep the Kobe/Gasol core intact for the next 2-3 years… for just Bynum.

    • pio2u

      NOT!

  • kobynum

it would be nice to see a TOP 3 pick.. lakes havent had one in a long time… gasol for love and #2 makes perfect sense…. gasol can go run with rubio (the other spainaird)…

  • CRodriguez

if were trying to get kevin love then trade pau. do we really want 2 big men who dont bang in the post and play iffy defense? I sure as hell don’t. Trade pau and whoever for flynn and love if possible. Screw the second pick.

  • TouchingMyself

Is that all Kahn wants really?  Why not Kobe Kahn?  I mean, since this obviously is a fantasy!  IDIOT!

  • whutsl

    we need pau !

The problem is this… All trades have to conform to the CBA agreement according to salaries and cap.  Gasol at $17M means four players in trade from Minnesota, and they don’t want to include KLove+ 3 others+ the #2 pick for him.  They’ll trade KLove+ 3 others, or the #2+ 4 others, but not the first option, so they are going for Bynum at $13M+ #2+ 3 others (less KLove), which is reasonable.

The Lakers are not calling the TWolves, but Minnesota is calling us.  Kupchek and Jim Buss can wait to see if Minnesota will cave to the first option (Gasol for KLove+#2+3others), or they can make a deal w/Bynum for #2+3others…  By Thursday morning this will be done, or it will all be moot.  Lets hope that Minnesota is desperate!

    • Showtim

“hope” Andrew Bynum is gone by Thursday morning…..thanks but NO THANKS

      • Anonymous

Hoping that Minnesota might cave in desperation to Bynum for KLove+ #2, is not a bad thought.  Gasol for the same, or Bynum for #2 sans KLove isnt bad either.  Don’t thank me.. just wait to see!  Neither one of us talking here will make a difference anyways!

        • CRodriguez

umm no. You would get rid of Bynum for only the number 2 pick? Even getting Love back, would you want both Pau and Love on the same team?

  • Kyle Ono

I would trade pau for love,  2 pick, and flynn

  • Kenneth4321

the only player that i would trade gasol for is howard
bynum for love nd number 2 sounds “alright”  we would lose some toughness though
gasol for love + 2 is just stupid

  • Unseen_mc2002

MAN WHO ON THIS BOARD WOULD WANT KEVIN LOVE ON THERE TEAM HE SUCKS WOW HE CAN REBOUND BUT HE AINT AN OFFENSIVE PLAYER IN PAU IS THE BEST SKILLED BIG MAN IN THE ENTIRE NBA BESIDES DIRK I HOPE THEY DONT TRADE WITH MINNESOTA AT ALL THEY BE BETTER OFF GETTING A TEAM FULL OF BUMS IN OLD MAN IF U THINK THEY GONNA WIN I DONT THINK SO NEXT SEASON UNLESS THEY MAKE SOME BIG CHANGES IN GET REALLLL YOUNG IN 4 POSITIONS ARTEST SUCKS GET RID OF HIM  IN BLAKE IN BARNES ,WALTON DUMP ALL CONTRACTS WITH THEM ALL

    • Anonymous

Can’t dump ARTEST SUCKS, IN BLAKE IN BARNES, WALTON ALL CONTRACTS.  They’ll still count against the NBA cap… gotta trade them, and who will trade for ARTEST SUCKS, IN BLAKE IN BARNES, WALTON ALL CONTRACTS?

      • Hart_ache24

all you need is to trade blake, barnes and walton for Rubio and second round pick.. DO NOT make a mistake breaking up the Lakers core group of Kobe, Pau, Andrew, Lamar, Ron, Brown.

  • Olivergleenmarkegonio

this is a great trade if it will happen… andrew bynum should be trade to other team because he is prone to injury… andrew bynum for kevin love, no. 2 pick and rubio i think this is sounds interesting… the lakers should not trade pau gasol because he is the reason why the lakers come’s back to the championship caliber team. pau gasol is a great player even you ask everyone they like pau gasol as a player…. i just read all the comments here that they want pau gasol to be traded because he soft and they always keep reminding the last playoff performance of pau gasol against the mavericks…. will i tell you this guys all the pau gasol heaters you are insecure and maybe afraid if gasol will not be traded he will be treat in your way.. that’s why  you are always posting some comment to trade pau gasol hahaha in your dream niga it will not happen.. or maybe you just like pau gasol to be in your team??? if you will see for the last 3 consecutive finals appearance of the los angeles lakers, pau gasol is always in the starting line up alongside with odom, where is bynum? i think he is in the bench? when it comes to contribution of the points in the paint where is bynum? i think he is in the bench or maybe foul trouble? every year and every season andrew is always injured… i’ am not telling this just because i don’t like him or he doen’t have any contribution in the team that much… in positive side bynum helps the lakers for deeper the core and in the defensive things and rebounding… if you will see phil jackson is preferred to use odom alongside of pau gasol than bynum… and if bynum will be traded the lakers will have opportunity to rebuild their core and get some good players that can help the lakers to compete in the high level again……. this year is for the dallas mavericks just enjoy maybe this is your last year to be a champion or maybe it will not happen anymore after 100 hundred years… revenge is coming and the lakers will come back and dethrone you…. go lakers 2011-2012 world champion

you don’t have a clue what the hell you are talking about.

  • Odeck_unlimited

why no!!!Gasol still a best player for lakers, last playoff is a history give him a break.don’t forget what gasol gave to us before(2 championship)Kevin Love and 2 pick is not bad for us,add Beasly.and find one good point replacement for Fisher.

  • http://www.sportsbetting.com.au online sports betting

Jerry Buss, for God’s sake. Trade Bynum to any team who wants him.

  • Limodude999

Bynum & Walton in exchange for K-Love & Rubio. Or nothing at all.

    • Rody23foreva

Are you dumb kevin love is not better than bynum and rubio hasnt proven shit!

  • Laker-fa-Life

if Buss was 2nd guessing a trade for Howard (the best center in the nba) he better not make this foolish trade

  • DontTradeBynum!

Why is everyone so loyal to Pau???  He failed miserably when the Lakers needed him most during the playoffs.  He folded like a lawn chair against BOTH the Hornets and Mavs while Bynum stepped up big.  I say if the Lakers can’t or don’t get Howard for Bynum.  Then they should trade Gasol for Love,  #2 pick and misc to make the deal work.

  • ICE CREAM MAN

First of all we need SUPERSTARS!  Kobe is on his way out, who will continue w/ the torche or are we going the way of cedrik ceballos again?  If we are getting rid of players then lets go for d-howard and a great guard.  Why get rid of Bynum or Gasol for Kevin Love or a weak #2?  No sense does this trade make.  Lets just sit tight and when everyone is serious then lets talk trades.

    • Anonymous

The Lakers have no room to manuver with the contracts they have locked up.. maybe even less so after the lockout.  In two years we will be like the Spurs, then afterwards (yes) the way of Cedric Ceballos of the 90′s. The thing that extended the Lakers dynasty in the 80′s was picking up Worthy mid-decade with a top pick.  The only thing Bynum will lead us to in the future is a first round playoff loss, and then draft picks in the mid 20′s. He can’t jump anymore.

OKC, the Heat, Chicago, Knicks, even Memphis are all moving up, and the Lakers need to keep pace.  Derrick Williams is the s**t at #2, and/or KLove avgs.15 boards a game… that’s averages.  That’s a lot of put backs for a team that can’t shoot a three. KLove+Odom+Gasol +Millicic as a back up big man in the paint, and we keep our height, then just work on guard play.  DHoward isn’t leaving Orlando, and if he goes FA next year, we have no cap room to put him in.  Take opportunity when it presents itself.  2 rings from 3 finals was a good run from this group, we need some new life to continue.

      • ICE CREAM MAN

very good points MonoLaker.  Well, I tell you this….K-Love has more heart than Gasol.

  • Dvz2000

This trade makes no sense….keep Bynum and trade Gasol for the #2 pick and Klove….i wouldn’t trade bynum for anything less than D.Howard.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_DX2L4BAEZEK2FDR7AG573N66YY Ronald M

The hell with Dwight Howard and Kevin Love. The Lakers are not going to trade for none of those players. We don’t need Howard that’s what a bunch of fans want not the Lakers. If you go by what fans say we will have a all star team. They all think they are General Managers making stupid trades that will never happen. They need to stop dreaming.
