Let the drama in Laker-land continue.

According to sources, the Lakers have held preliminary discussions with the Boston Celtics regarding a trade that would include both Dwight Howard and Rajon Rondo.

The NBA trade deadline of February 21st is quickly approaching, and it’s no secret that Danny Ainge has tried to move Rondo before. The Lakers have stated they have no interest in trading Howard before the deadline, but stranger and more unpredictable things have happened.

It remains unlikely that a blockbuster including the two stars would materialize over the next six days. However, on the heels of rumors that Dwight Howard may have his eyes set on the Brooklyn Nets during the off-season, it’s not out of the question that the Lakers would consider a hasty move (see: Mike Brown).

Dwight has remained vague and noncommittal to the Lakers beyond this season. While it’s hard to speculate exactly what the future holds, we can be certain the Lakers organization will shake things up if the team continues to struggle for the remainder of the season.
