Not good, not good at all…

ESPN: Trevor Ariza’s short but sweet stay in Los Angeles might be coming to an end.

The 24-year-old swingman, who played a key role in the Lakers’ run to their 15th NBA championship, is on the verge of leaving the club, sources close to the situation said on Wednesday.

With at least five teams pursuing Ariza, the Lakers are currently unwilling to pay him more than the $5.6 million mid-level exception.

“They’re letting him go,” one of the sources said.

Cleveland is making a hard push for Ariza, and the Cavaliers’ coaching staff was speaking with him on Wednesday. While Cleveland can only offer the mid-level as well, Ariza’s disappointment with the Lakers’ stance has moved other suitors ahead of his current team.

The Rockets, Clippers, Raptors and Blazers are also showing interest in Ariza. Portland and Toronto could each offer more than the mid-level exception.

NOooooooooooooooooooooooooo. He can’t leave. Mitch give him another million or so.

  • domz

first, let him walk if he wants more money. and id rather have ariza with the cavs than seeing ron play with bron bron.

  • lakers repeat

looks like he really doesn’t bleed purple & gold after all. Maybe he bleeds green ( or the color of the highest bidder). Its ok though we will sign someone to take his place, maybe marion, or artest. well see, but don’t count us out next year well do it with or without ariza.

    Artest to LA.

  • showtimelakes

I’ll take artest to LA but i hear he wants like 3 year 10 million! This pisses me off, this really pisses me off.

  • Mr.E

hope you know what you’re doing Mitch(when will I learn to stop doubting you)-Thanks for the hustle Trevor we’re gonna gonna miss you man-

  • Mitch4Pres

    dude this is mad depressing

I’ve been saying it all along, if any of this is true, I’d like to see more loyalty from this guy. Would TA even be playing in the league without us? Who immediately gave him a personal shooting coach? Who gave him minutes, who put him in the opportunity to play with Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, Lamar Odom? How open are those threes going to be without them? If he leaves, especially for the same amount of money so he can play for the Cavs or something, forget him. I don’t want someone like that on my team. We just won a championship and we’ll win one without him. If he leaves, I hope he goes to Cleveland and I hope we play them in the finals. I would want to beat that team. If that’s the case, I want to show him his mistakes. Don’t get me wrong, I love TA and if he resigns I will gladly welcome him back. But if he does something stupid, it’s not a big deal. I’d rather have Ronny than TA anyway.

The point is he’s not bigger than the team that we should throw money at him.

I got nothin but love for you Ariza but your career will flounder on the bench with another team like you did with the Knicks and Magic! I guess it’s back to square one for you if you don’t take the Lakers offer! GetArtest…GetArtest…GetArtest!!!!

  • Mr. WoodCock

Cleveland already contacted him, but they are only offering the mid level, so that wouldn’t make any sense to leave. The only teams that can offer him the $$$ he wants are Portland, Toronto, and Detroit cuz they are below the cap. Ariza can easily be replaced.

Looks like the Lakers are holding onto LO. I hope his agent is more reasonable. This means the Lakers will go after a veteran free agent that will accept the mid-level. If this happens and we can sign LO for cheap, we could also sign Brown.

Our total payroll is going to probably be around $93-95m this season.

    Current payroll $77m

    resign LO $8-9m
    FA $5.5m
    Brown $2-3m

    Here’s a list of FA:

Only problem i have with him leaving is the same problem i saw with Boston not signing Posey. Look what happened to Boston ( i know injuries but…. If we get artest than it’s all good in La La. I mean after 2000 we did lose Glenn Rice and i heard we did alright ;)

  • Vibe

WTF…this cant be true. if it is shame on you ariza!

  • willow

He’s only doing what ALL of us would do if you were offered more money somewhere else. He’s thinking about being financially set and his family’s future. A lot of Hall of Famers don’t have a ring and they made their millions. Why do you think Karl Malone accepted a 1.2 million dollar deal when he signed with the Lakers? To get a ring but that didn’t happen. So he’s doing now what a lot of players would do when their stock rises. He’s got his ring so now go get paid!!!

Thank you Trevor for the times you’ve made my day when you made a key 3 or a steal and for improving your shot when Orlando dumped you coz you couldn’t shoot. It was great while it lasted. Now go get paid boi!!!!

  • Trade Fluke Farma$$ and Vujabich

If B!tch Mitch and Bimbo Jimbo let Ariza go and do not sign Artest, then this is going to be another vintage bonehead blunder. Ariza and Brown are keepers over bonehead Odumb. B!tch Mitch blew a good portion of the Lakers salary on total garbage: Vujabich, Farma$$, Fluke, and Bynumb. Lakers need a top notch defensive player like Ariza or Artest.

Just listen to the source! …The common rumblings from Chris Broussard of espn, who btw, dislikes The Lakers organization very much and will commonly, lend himself to say whatever it takes, in his attempts to rile up dissention among them.

  • Ryan Eusebio

Guys please stop blaming Ariza, it’s his stupid ass agent wanting more money since he gets a certain % off it.

If I was ariza I would fire him and sign with the Lakers. But I gotta admit he should get paid a lil more. But we will see what happens. If not we can get Ron Artest, which is a better replacement imo.

  • LA

What are you guys talking about? Ariza is just about to hit his prime and has the potential to be an All-Star. Not to mention he has a fantastic attitude and is a team player. Without Ariza, THERE IS NO CHAMPIONSHIP this year.

I love Odom but we can replace him with a big off the bench. Artest is dangerous to team chemistry and is not a kid anymore. Losing Ariza would be devastating. Oh, and don’t kid yourself. Ariza in Cleveland will be VERY difficult to beat
