Shaquille O’Neal didn’t necessarily just go after Andrew Bynum, but he did comment on the possibility of facing two of the best big men in the league, in this years NBA playoffs.
O’Neal was asked by ESPN’s Marc Stein, if he was looking forward to going up against guys like Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum in the playoffs.
O’Neal: Excuse me? Don’t ask me a question like that.
Marc Stein: But that’s what people want to know. Those guys are playing so well and everyone wants to see if you can match up with them one-on-one.
O’Neal: First of all, they won’t dare play me one-on-one, even at the tender age of 39. And you know what? Playin’ those teams, it ain’t gonna be about the [center] matchup, so I don’t really worry about that.
Shaq turned 39 years old in March, and has only appeared in 36 games this season for the Celtics. According to a team source, Shaq is scheduled to return April 1st, in time to be ready for the playoffs.
