Great news. Let’s get ‘em! As rare as it may be, there are indeed some players that will take a ring over money. Brown is one of them!

NBA FanHouse: Shannon Brown is returning to the Lakers.

Brown’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, told FanHouse on Thursday the deal “definitely” will get done later in the day. The free-agent guard will sign a two-year, $4.6 million contract, with the second year a player option. He will make $2.2 million this season, with the option year worth $2.4 million.

“The lure of the Lakers was too great,” said Bartelstein, whose client had been looked at strongly by New York. “He didn’t want to look back and not have the chance to go for a third straight championship.”

    great news!

    • JB

He was the missing piece….his versatility will help us greatly. I also like his personal makeup. Someone who turns down more money and possibly more time on the court to be part of something special. Hopefully things workout this next summer and he is a Laker for a very long time.

      • More Cookies 4 Kob

        Great explosive momentum changer.
        .
Most people tend to forget, when Kobe sat out a few games, Shannon started and we went 4-0. Speculation from fanatical Laker junkies was that Kobe made the team worse. Shannon was perceived as the great starter who knew his role and made plays.
        .
Fast forward two weeks ago. There was non-stop Shannon bashing. Seldom would anybody actually debate why he needed to resign.
        .
Make no mistake, his game is limited, he tends to hold on to the ball to long and try to take over on a broken play. But still his value is underrated.
        .
“Fast breaks, and explosive dunks is all he’s good for.” Perhaps, but this team lacks young explosive players, and when you have a guy who can jump out of the building on a fast break, or hit an open 3, it shifts the momentum of the game, and that’s an intangible that nobody on this team has short of Kobe.

    • PRLaker

welcome home brother, this is your hom shannon, you will be a three time champion!!!

  • scoobs

“Brown opted out in June of a deal that would have paid him $2.149 million this season. The sides haggled over dollars for several weeks before Brown ending up getting just a slight amount more than what he left behind.”

    • cjm

if you consider $400k/yr plus an additional year, to be “slight”

  • http://thetruthrenaissance.wordpress.com/ BE_A_LakerFan

Looks like we’re all set for the ’09-’10 season. Should be a good one! I love the way our team is constructed. Lake Show!

    • LC09

      did u mean 10-11 season??

      • http://thetruthrenaissance.wordpress.com/ BE_A_LakerFan

        Lol. I did. My fault.

        • kb24isthebest

wait so r we keeping sasha?!? and r we signing the rookies?!? did anyone hear anything about that lately??

          • NBAmazingKB24

            1. Kobe 2. Bynum 3. Artest 4. Gasol 5. Dfish
            6. LO 7. Barnes 8. Blake 9. Ratliff 10. Sasha
            11. Luke 12. Shannon 13. Caracter
            14. Ebanks
They can carry 12 active players during
            each game.
Lakers had 13 players last year.
            Luke in inactive (Injury)
so with the rookies we have 14
They will most likely sign these two rookies

  • ThEMVP

    Welcome back!!!!!!!

  • gus26

OMG!!!… great another selfish year out of brown trying to “earn” a bigger check in the offseason… get ready for a bunch of “me first” plays… chucked shots… and possesions that go to the final second of the 24… if the second year was a TEAM option i would be happy… but now we just resigned a selfish player to be selfish again…

    • adam sorensen

hey gus26 what are you talking about? Shannon Brown was a vital part of our bench last season. If he was as selfish as you say he is he would have bolted for NY. Welcome back Shannon Brown and congrats on choosing to play for a winner instead of bolting east to play for a perennial loser like the Knicks.

      • gus26

dude i watched every single minute of every single game… you never saw him chucking shots up?… you never saw him NOT make the extra pass and shoot?… you never saw him drive to the basket lure 2 bigs and instead of scooping into the open guy under the basket, get fouled and make 1 of 2?… come on bro… honestly love the dunks, love it when he made the shots… but basketball wise you got to be honest with yourself this guy was playing for his next contract, and thanks to that player option he’ll be doing it again next season… i know what i’m talking bout bro…

        • d73wizzle

gus 26….Have to completely disagree with your asessment of Shannon Brown’s play. I think YOU’RE THE ONLY DUDE to think he’s selfish and played as such. If you know the Lakers you’d know that our gaurds job is to knock down the open shot when our bigs defer to them. Not everyshot is going to be taken within the rythm of the offense but for you to come to the conclussion that it’s selfishness is quite frankly, HIGHLY IGNORANT. You need to watch more even if u watched it all smh.

          • gus26

we disagree thats fine, i’m not ignorant i have a different perspective.. i see the game from a pass first pg posistion from your comment, it seems you see it from a score first big… I’m NOT the only one who feels he was selfish… read the comments

        • kb24

sb was the second best bench player we had last year so stfu!!!….its good to have you back sb lets go for that 3 peat!

        • JB

When Shannon’s on the court we need him to be aggressive and help spark the second unit. I had no problem with how he played last season. The great thing is that he is still young and should still be improving. Those important shots that he took and missed last year hopefully will start going in. I like that he’s not afraid to fail and he doesn’t hesitate to try to be great, with all the greatness around him. Gus you seem to be watching a different player from the rest of us. I encourage you to go back and watch some tape in a quiet room with no distractions. If that doesn’t help maybe go to the optometrist to get your eyes checked…just trying to help a fellow Laker fan.

    • Dre-K

He won’t be that way at all. Way better squad of players comin off the bench with him. U KNOW Blake and Odom is runnin that second unit. I say we’re in good position. Blake,Brown, Barnes,Odom, and Ratliff? Shannon won’t have to be in that “shoot anything” mode

      • Say Queensbridge

i hope your right cause i used to hate it when farmar and brown would come in fuck up a big lead or turnover the ball or miss a ill advised 3.

    • team_me

shit at least he didnt pull an Ariza.!

      • Edward

Shut up, Lakers deserted Ariza for good for not much Artest. Shannon brown is good. Only reason he chucks up shots is because the shot clock is going down. The floor would be incredibly spaced, no one moving. That’s not his fault. As I’ve said before you know what to expect from him.

        • team_me

wow bitchu shut up.! ariza wanted more money.! he was tryin 2 Hazel us. i like brown n ariza i aint sayin shit about them.! im jus sayin im glad he picked a ring over money not like ariza.!

        • Edward

Nice comeback, tell someone that told you to shut up to shut up. Ariza is making the same fuckin money in Houston that he would have in LA. Mitch stopped negotiating with Ariza, and signed Artest before stopping negotiations. Get your facts straight before you say shit. Bynum took lots of money, Kobe continues to be unwilling to take a paycut, and the only people that suffer are the role players on our team. Lamar should be making more money.

        • big d

I’m sorry but I disagree Arizas agent effed that up as gud as ariza is he was not worth 7 to 9 mil a year he had a gud play off but in the reg season he avg 8.9 points a game if he had had a great followin year than no prob and he has a history of bein hurt that’s. Y I luv the Artest signing

    • JOSH IN DA 310

GUS shut the fuck up with your godamn negativity! If your A true LAkers fan you fucking cheer for anyone wearing the purple and gold! No matter what they do right or wrong! you sound like a fucking Celtic chowder eating fagget that puts the team down because in your eyes they aren’t playing true basketball! fuck you and your fucking opinion and thats why shannon is a Pro and u never made it past the bench in your Jr high school piece of shit team.l Either your down with the LAkers or get the fuck out!!!!!!!!! Thank you for your attention . Have a nice day

      • ThEMVP

        That sums it up nicely.

  • Brown Hater

Ok Shannon is part of the team now so I will try to stop throwin salt, but don’t act like this guy turned down a ton of money to come back here the Knicks only offered him a 1 yr deal worth 2.6 million. So play for the Knicks or the Lakers wow that was a real tough choice. Now get out there and polish up your game because it needs a lot of work.

    • Joseph

it’s more expensive to party at the nightclubs in NYC

  • BarcaLakerfan4life

    3 peat!

  • team_me

glad 2 hear his back we defiantly need him.! we need some1 to throw fast break alley ops 2 n we need good young players.!

  • gus26

and that saying that he’ll take a ring over money is stupid… it was reported NY only offered him about 2 million and a one yr deal too… the money was the same this whole time he was thinking about where he’ll get more exposure and a better chance at a bigger pay check.. i hope they use him to unload sasha’s contract at the deadline along with a pick for any available back up sg…

    • Robert

Who doesn’t want more money? Wouldn’t you?

      • gus26

of course i would… i just don’t want OUR team play sufferring from this guy looking to get HIS… i don’t hate him got no problem with someone trying to get paid… go ahead… i just have a problem when its at OUR expense…

      • JB

Agreed…ultimately they are all playing for their next paycheck. You can’t fault him for that. What we can hope for is that it motivates him to have a great season and get us a third straight ring!

  • http://www.ld2k.com Chris Manning

We are banging. Good knowing you, league.

    • NBAmazingKB24

is there something wrong with this site?
Its hard to get into this site w/o an error

      • ThEMVP

It’s the new google-Verizon FCC pro-net-neutrality bullshit IMO- slowing the page loads… http://www.dailyfinance.com/story/company-news/fcc-ends-net-neutrality-talks-google-veri/19584021/ FUCK THOSE MORONS. What this does basically is allows the FCC to regulate the net as a media service like radio, since speeds are involved, they have to regulate the speed since google (website-search-news service) wants its pages to load faster through Verizon (a carrier) as an unprecented joint pseudo-website/service – carrier business venture it thus, enables the FCC to step in and regulate it since the better richer companies would have to pay their ISP so they could send information faster, as opposed to the broadband-end user (you, me, the consumer) to get it fast across the board, think of it as PPV fro internet, think of it as paying $4 bucks to get the tuesday LA Times paper because fans tried to get the Lakers Champ’ edition, at a premium. So the faggots at the FCC get access to regulate your internet speed so the websites are loaded slower..

        .
Not saying this site has this issue at the present because although server times should be the catalyst anyway and determining factor coupled with the end user’s speed, it’s still something to talk about because it would force blog sites such as this one, or other websites who want to keep delivering their product at the same speed to pay a royalty fee or force changes, maybe force people to pay the site cover the charges.
        .
Something to think about other than Ball- it affects our media usage over the net and that will significantly change how we watch Laker-related media in the near future if this HOMO FCC-verizon-google takeover happens.

        • NBAmazingKB24

          thanks!
i guess im not the only onen with the problem.

  • Brown Hater

The more I think about it Brown won’t get much playing time anyway Barnes will get some of the minutes behind Kobe for his defense & they will play Sasha more this year because they will be trying to unload him and they need to keep his face out there. Now I feel better.

    • gus26

      thanks… me too… hope you’re right

    • kobeight

Kinda agree. I’m glad Brown is back we need another veteran that can score. I just need him to improve his defense, and not give up those leads we did last year. Although I blame those on Farmar and Walton. Sasha is a pretty good on the ball defender and Shannon needs to be the same type of defender. If every bench player can guard their man, we will be damn near unbeatable!

  • Junya10

I’ll believe it when he signs the papers!!!

    • 242LakerFan

You won’t believe it till he actually steps on the floor in a Lakers #12 jersey.

    • PP34Truth

Its actually funny how this guy is a scrub like how we lie to say in boston

      • 242LakerFan

Oh, cool. A case where a typo actually reveals the truth.

  • The Big Clover

Shannon is only coming back because no else really wanted him. Shannon thinks he’s better than he really is.

  • DCLakeshow

This is Great News! Team Chemistry is undervalued when talking about winning another cookie. Listen…yes…he will be splitting time with both Sasha and Barnes, but this is Phil Jackson’s team, and it’ll really depends on the team matchups. His size and quickness might matchup better against some of the smaller guards in the league, vs Sasha (as backup’s…that is). Either way…I’m happy. This Bench…Bench Mob will know how to maintain a lead.

  • gus26

brown/ sasha and a 1st rounder to the kings for francisco garcia… can’t trade brown untill december 15th but look for a move like this at the deadline…

    • team_me

wtf Francisco Garcia seriously. shit wat u smoking.!

  • Victor

So whats going to happen wit the two rookies we drafted??

    • gus26

      we’ll sign them

      • Victor

How do you know i think if anything were only going to sign one of them.

        • gus26

because they will continue to try to move sasha and they love both of them and they’ll be cheap… it wouldn’t make sense to NOT sign them… even if they sign them and cut them later… its like 95% done…

      • tradesasha

        i hope so!

        • gus26

read the espn article wher it says brown signed… they are already in negotiations… if they weren’t going to sign them why would they bring up contracts… they would have just said see you at camp like last years pick…

        • Robert

They are singing both of them It’s on espn L.A. Land O Lakers go and read it.

it feels good when people are not just “homers” and understand the game and realize this is not a good move… could have been worse though… could have signed him to 3 year 15 million… cough sasha cough cough…
they’ll use brown to trade some one they don’t want on the team anymore cough cough cough…

  • Lebummmm

    3 peats??

    welcome back home, cannon brown.

  • http://www.singoramalessonsrevealed.com Varick Hudson

Mitch Kupchak and Dr Buss, this goes for Shannon the Cannon Brown too, You all are the man. It’s on for 2011. Bring IT ON.

  • 242LakerFan

I really do understand the frustration with the way Shannon sometimes took bad shots and over-dribbled. I’ve felt it myself. But I believe that now, with the bench depth we have, he will be more sure of his role as a back-up and won’t have the pressure of having to run the offense as a point guard and competing with Jordan for that spot as first guard off the bench. That was when he made the most mistakes. I expect him to settle in better this year.

    • Say Queensbridge

yeah i think you’re right, you should be like a nba analyst and work for the espn or fox sports cause you know your shit

      • 242LakerFan

ESPN wouldn’t want me; I refuse to kiss LeButt.

    • gus26

thats funny i see him being even more selfish knowing that blake was brought in to be the primary pg, blake is suppose to take all the mins farmar was getting PLUS some of fisher’s mins. Also having barnes fully capable of playing the sg spot puts even more pressure on brown, barnes is expected to take some of kobe’s mins at the 3 spot but also fit as a back up sg with artest on the court at the same time. Where are brown’s mins going to come from? He knows his mins will be even more limited unless he puts up numbers, he won’t put up numbers without playing selfish. Why else would he want that option after the first year? Why else would this have taken so long? His role is not any more “sure” this year quite the oppisite, he has to create his own role.

      • 242LakerFan

What I’m saying is that his role will be to come off the bench and score. You can’t be called selfish if that’s what you’re supposed to be doing. And since he’ll more likely be finishing plays set up by others, like Blake, instead of playing point and trying to create a play himself, he won’t stagnate the offense by over-dribbling or jacking up crap shots.

        • gus26

i see you’re point, and i think thats the type of player we need Brown to be and the type of role he needs to play for us, problem is i don’t believe Brown is capable of doing it.. To be the finisher as you describe him he needs to be able to play within the system, something that has been noted he does not do well, )remember in the season sasha complaining that when brown was out there they didn’t even run the triangle). He plays the role of a spot up shooter in pick in pops more than anything and dribbles when he should make the extra pass. Biggest problem about that is his shot is suspect and he has horrible handles. Hopefully you’re right but unless Brown is really working on polishing his game i think he is not THAT peice we needed.

        • 242LakerFan

Let’s just wait and see (and hope) LOL

          • gus26

            LOL.. 3-peat anyway

  • ilikebasketball

shaq went to the celtics. does his jersey still get retired as a laker? i’m leaning towards no, now.

also. that fucking lakers DVD sucked. worse than last year.
the bonus features suck and feature lehype.
and last they had full 4th quarters(which sucke because in those games the game had already been decided), and the 4th quarters this year would’ve been great. so they don’t include them.
last year they didn’t include fisher headbutting or shane battier bleeding, the real drama of the houston series,
this year there was stuff missing as well.

fuck THE NBA, GIVE US GOOD PRODUCT YOU ASSHOLES.

we suport and love the nba and our teams and all we ask is you give us good fucking products to buy to give you more money.

    no one else is pissed??!?!?

    • gus26

      I AM!!!!… but not about the dvd…

    • 242LakerFan

I’m not pissed. Then again, I never planned on buying the thing to begin with.

    • Watchedeverygame

Just got done watching the DVD and it sucked! The end of game 7 was some of the most tense, exciting moments in finals history and they glossed over it as if Ron-Ron’s 3 was the only shot made in the last minute. Last years wasn’t great but it was better than that piece of crap! Now I have to watch the 99-00 video to remind me of what a good video is like.

      • ilkebasketball

        yes, exactly.
how could they speed through going from down 13 to only down 4 with 1 shot of gasol hitting a hook shot.
they didn’t even put in Kobe tapping Gantry on the butt when he hit that impossible shot over grant hill, to show what a badass he is. it’s embarrassing.

but search the web, you can find the complete game online.
the NBA doesn’t want poeple stealing from them and then they put out such garbage product that it leaves fans with no other choice.
        screw them.

  • xavier

It’s not just money, it is minutes, and a team playing with D’Antoni would offer him a real possibility for him to explode offensively.

Thank “Youtube”, we love you back!

  • ricker

i keep forgetting that lamar odom is on the bench…lol

    • Showtime4eva

I agree I think it was unselfish of Shannon to come back. Good job to Mitch. I can’t Beleave people wanted t- Mac in stead. I knew that would have been a mistake since way back in February. I’ll take Shannon any day over a guy is over the hill like t-Mac or a guy who brings drama like D. West. Hey lakers nation it have been worse. Shannon brings some pretty good energy. So I’d say it’s a good day.

  • LakErS 3 pEaT

This means that Sasha is gone…

  • Robert.

Most of ‘useful’ team is returning from Championship. Farmar missing, but Blake is an upgrade, so we’re doing much better than last year (we can actually ‘use’ players off the bench). If Ebanks is signed, then we have a ‘bit’ of speed (including Shannon), so that will help return to the ‘old’ bench mob days.
    .
The only thing missing from the old bench mob is Ronnie Turiaf. The mob probably did well for many reasons, and I’m sure a big one was Ronnie’s excitement. I still recall one game where the bench scored 60+ points. If the bench breaks even when they replace the starters, then overall the starters can get a rest and we have a killer team. Another thing our ‘speed’ did (years ago) was to wear out the opponents, and by the time the starters returned, they could dominate the late quarters and close out with a big lead. Remember that?
    .
Drew was part of the bench back then (until injured), so that helped. It was the best bench the Lakers have had in years (since everyone was firing on all cylinders). I think we will have something ‘closer’ to that this year than the last few years. That should improve things 1000%, and since we had a great record last year, it should help even more.
    .
    Welcome back, Shannon.

  • willmo

i must admit that the 2010 DVD was a letdown. last yr it had alot of cool Lakers features with that roundtable of the ’85 team and the 4th qtr’s of most of the games but this year the NBA was very lazy and included some stuff that had nothing to do with the Lakers which was simply stupid…

    • ilkebasketball

      yeah,

and the 4th quarters of last years the games were all decided in the 3rd quarter. it’s insane.

i wish people would make a bigger deal about this with the NBA, start a facebook page or some kind of writing campaign and maybe we can get some decent videos from the NBA.
not just the garbage they hope to sell for more later.
why not put the complete game on the championship dvd?!??!?!
what could they be waiting for?

      • Hunt4Six

Now that’s a GREAT suggestion!!………….That is the most sensible thing to do on a “memorabilia” product!….Putting the entire Game 7 on the DVD, with the exclusion of commercial adds of course…I would rather just have that feature, along with the locker room celebration more that anything else!

Now that would be something worth buying and having in your sports library!…..Excellent suggestion “I/B”….But obviously the NBA isn’t thinking that way!

  • i0ioooooi0i

    we need a big man.

    • 242LakerFan

Why do you keep saying that? We have Bynum, Gasol, Odom and Ratliffe, all 7 footers, plus Caracter, who pounds the middle well. What more do you want?

          Okay, they’re six-foot-and-ten-to-thirteen-inchers.

      • cjm

more importantly, we have 7′ players that are top quality, and not stiffs like Boston and Miami have.

lakers have a really deep bench now. our offseason goal was to improve the bench, and that goal has been accomplished.

  • 123kid

this is how i see the minutes being distributed in a span of a 48 minute game for a regular season. obviously playoffs are a lot different and you wanna have more minutes for to your starters or your core 8, but pretty much the regular season is meant for team chemistry building, kinda lessen the load for your main playoff guys, to build confidence in rookies, to help new teamates understand the offense and defensive schemes, and to strengthen the role players.

bynum: with his knee, i would say about 20
    pau:30
    kobe:30
    artest: 20
    LO:20
    fisher:15-20
    blake: at most 15
    barnes:20
    theo: 5-7, at most 10
    sasha: 5-7
    shannon: 5-7
    rookies: mostly blowout games

overall, thats what i think the minutes breakdown is. i think guys like kobe, bynum, and pau’s minutes will lessen with the type of depth we have this year. i think with bringing in guys like barnes, blake, and theo, they’ll understand to keep the leads and not just mess around in garbage time.

    • gus26

close… i think the mins you put for brown and sasha are the same mins and its either or depending on match ups… blake will get closer to 20 mins.. artest is closer to 25, 27 min and theo will avg 2 or 3… at the most!!… and will rack up the DNPs…

  • SunnyC

Very very nice…..got to defend that second ring championship..go for the threepeat….

  • rondo

Shannon waiting for Sasha to get his walking papers next year so he can get paid.

  • REALISTICLAKERFAN

I HOPE THE LAKERS TRADE SASHA FOR A PICK
    THEN SIGN THE 2 ROOKIES
WALTON IS DONE FOR THE YEAR SO THAT MEANS WE STILL HAVE ONE MORE SPOT WITH
    D-FISH, KOBE, RON, GASOL, BYNUM
BLAKE, SHANNON, BARNES, LAMAR, RATLIFF, CARACTER, EBANKS
HOPEFULLY WE CAN STILL SIGN T-MAC CUZ WE NEED ANOTHER GUARD CUZ WE NEED SCORING OFF THE BENCH BLAKE IS A PASS FIRST PG HE SAID IT HIMSELF BARNES IS DEFENSIVE MINDED PLAYER AND RATLIFF AND COME ON L.O. U KNOW IS INCONSISTENT AND BROWN IS TOO

    • ilikebasketball

      stop being dumb.
t-mac is injury prone and we ain’t getting him. move on.

      • REALISTICLAKERFAN

TELL ME THIS DO U WANT SASHA INSTEAD OF T-MAC
DO U WANT T-MAC WITH THE CELTICS
IS OUR BENCH IS STRONGER IN DEFENSE BUT NOT ON OFFENSE

        • ilkebasketball

t-mac can go to the celtics, they still won’t do shit.

and our bench may be stronger on defense, which i think, than offense, but our starters are so great at offense, that if hte bench comes in and is super strong on defense that’s a great change for the other team to contend with.

          • REALISTICLAKERFAN

THERES NO DOUBT THAT WE HAVE GREAT DEFENSE OFF THE BENCH BUT AS LAST YEAR IF U WATCHED U SAW THE BENCH GIVE UP EVERY LEAD AND THE STARTERS HAD TO PLAY A LOT OF MINUTES ….SO WE NEED SCORING

  • http://57.amklac laffs atu

smoosh parker really!!!!!way to go mitch!!

    • Billy Kupchak

      ?

      • 242LakerFan

All that laffing has left him a little light-headed.

  • willmo

I guess someone means Smush Parker…. 2 rings Mitch!!!!! really!!!! what you got to show for it laffs atu? Oh yes nothing…. kobe sucks, lakers sucks, I am a very bitter person… All of your rubbish doesn’t change the facts that the Lakers are the envy of the league and still have plenty more left..,,

  • http://57.amklac laffs atu

thought kobe was recruiting raja bell, how`de we end up with squish parker?

    • ThEMVP

obvious 15 yr old pokemon card holder your remarks are evident of a kid with down syndrome or you didn’t get enough breast milk

    • SHOWTIME4EVA

still waiting….KOBE has won 5 championships and counting.now lebra lied about his elbow being hurt and had a melt down choke up series,SERIES!!! every year and never won EVER because he’s chicken shit and can not I repeat can not be a premiere player and has lost every ones respect atleast the suckers he had fooled . now you tell me now who is better kobe or lebra? give us an answer once and for all .. tell us why enlighten us explain…..

  • i0ioooooi0i

we need another big man. and possibly another athlete.

    • SHOWTIME4EVA

f you really think we need another big man here what you do…you tell mitch that the washington wizards can absorb sashas contract and they can.plus they need a shooting/point guard which they do..have him trade sasha for a 6’11 p/f named andray blatche he is the guy that would match sashas contract in a trade.

    • Kobe 279

SHUT THE FUCK UP DAMN U KEEP SAYING ” WE NEED A ANOTHER BIG MAN” DAMN BITCH HAVE U SEEN OUR ROSTER I DONT THINK U HAVE, SO SHUT THE FUCK UP U DUMB BITCH.

    • Showtime4eva

One things For sure we gotta dump Sashas contract.

      • bostonSUCKS88

no we dont. the lakers are set. just be satisfied for once. we have a great team. theres no need to worry about the lakers, its gonna be a great season. mitch did his job

        • Showtime4eva

You mean the roster is set . I know that, we all know that. I’m talking about dumping a contract that clearly is not worth 5 mil. We have a couple of those. If you are up to speed we’ve been shopping Sasha around to releave that inflated budget. As for the team I have not complained once. For the job Mitch done by signing basically our whole bench for the mle an the vet min was outstanding. But the Sasha lovers gotta wake up and same with the Luke supporters but we are stuck with Luke but if we can move Sasha we should. If moving him for a big or a guard, whatever, waive him I don’t care dude is dead weight. And sucking money that he ain’t worth. Last year we couldn’t even get a decent trade for a p/g or anything so I wouldn’t go as far to say we are set and be satisfied yet.

          • bostonSUCKS88

actually there are rumors that the lakers are trying to move sasha. i usually dont believe lakers rumors because they never come true. sasha’s 5 mill contract is not really hurting us because we dont need anything else to improve the team. so just keep sasha for his last year, no big deal

        • Kobe 279

          THANK YOU !!!

    • NBAmazingKB24

this guys wants a 9 footer

  • Digi

I would rather have a kid who scored 8 points a game last year he averaged as much as dfish during the regular season n the second most of the bench behind lamar , who knows our system young, crazy athelete will crazy upside than to get another older veteran , stuck in there ways tryng to learn the triangle, he n lamar will bring stability to barnes, blake, ratliff and the rookies because the know our systems, mistakes can be fixed its only his 4th year , having a pass first knock down shooting point guard like blake will benefit shannons game instead of famar selfish ass that’s who was selfish famar idk know what games gus26 was watching but farmar fucked up way more than shannon last year especially on defense matter of fact shannon has been the guy to contain derron williams in the last two playoffs because of his size at that position !!!! WELCOME BACK SHANNON BROWN !!!!! our becnh is INSANE blake, brown, barnes,lo,ratliff, ebanks, caracter, sasha, luke
sn: n this might be the push sasha need’s to get back to his 08 form when he was knocking down everything, know he’s wayyyyy more competition n better competitors, and veterans who actually started for other teams on the bench that will push his LAZY ass to not be a slacker !!! *MYOPINION*

  • Brown Hater

123Kid like your breakdown but there is no way LO plays only 20 minutes a game it hasn’t happened yet so I don’t see that changing anytime soon same with Artest I would peg them more for about 25-30 easily with Theo getting about 5 min. everything else seems ok

  • i0ioooooi0i

bynum will not be healthy the entire year, and neither will ratliff (too old). (Caracter is too young and immature.) We’re really gonna get by (during stretches where we are depleted by injury) with Pau as our only 7-footer? I’m talkin’ Centers (even PF/C’s)
    .
I like the idea of trying to dupe the wiz into giving up blatche for sasha, especially with the mergence of javale mcgee. But with the reasoning above alone, WE clearly NEED Another BIG MAN in the post.

    • 242LakerFan

We also should try and find another point guard because Fish is going to be crippled by arthritis (too old) and Blake is going to go on an extended maternity leave around January/February.
And when RonRon leaves on his World Tour for his next album and Barnes goes down with blood poisoning from his newest tattoo, we’re gonna need another forward, because Shannon is going to knock himself out when he hits his head on the backboard during an attempted dunk.
And Spero Dedes and Joel Meyers are planning to elope to Vermont together, so we’ll need some new announcers.
Don’t forget the plague of locusts when the big drought hits and the meteor falls on Staples Center, so we’ll gonna need a new arena, too.
We CLEARLY are in for nothing but DOOM and GLOOM this season.

      • Wilt2

Thats right Billy mays, the Lakers will be lucky to get 10 wins.

  • i0ioooooi0i
    • 242LakerFan

LMAO!!! You’re seriously sighting ESPN’s Trade Machine as some kind of credible source? The Trade Machine, featuring analysis by Hollinger. John Hollinger, the biggest Laker hater at a network filled with Laker haters?
      Dude, seriously, GET REAL!!!

      • i0ioooooi0i

our team is stacked, barring injuries. but based on bynum’s history of injuries, we have to prepare for a somewhat long-term injury from him this season. the trade machine was used simply to show that the salaries matched, and that it was possible on paper. (credit to SHOWTIME4EVA for pointing this possiblity out)
        .
does this not bolster our front line offensively and defensively? do we not need to clog the paint against speedy PG’s, not to mention James/Wade? if mitch IS shopping sasha, he shouldn’t settle for just any player. it should be for a skilled big who hustles on D and can finish around the basket.

        • 242LakerFan

At last, a cogent argument. (Well, except for the “barring injury” part. That goes without saying for any team in any league.)
Yes! That does make sense. Well put and logical. Was that so hard? If they could be convinced to do it, I would certainly welcome that move. It’s still kind of wishful thinking, but stranger things have happened for us, and recently.

          • i0ioooooi0i

            owned.

        • 242LakerFan

          ???
It takes you like a week to make a single point to back up a statement you simply repeated over and over again and that’s ownage? I didn’t even concede your basic premise. I said that the proposed trade would make sense; that’s not the same as saying we NEED another big.
Try again when you’re out of grammar school.

          • ThEMVP

This dude is retarded the Lakers already have around 6 guys who are 6’9 4 of who can play the 1 of course if Caracter doesn’t get picked up (which economic circumstances would force ownership otherwise) Lakes don’t need no bigs. Odom can be PF at 6’9 Theo will backup Bynum nicely, and we didnt’ even use Mbenga all that much… @242 I think he’s just saying shit so he sounds like he knows what hes talking about LMAO.

  • shaQuille

yea i0i just owned you dude. 242 tell me how his ass taste hahh

    • Showtime4eva

Owned?all he said was he was finally being logical.

    • 242LakerFan

I think he was asking because he wanted to try some.

  • http://57.amklac laffs atu

just another deer in MIAMIS HEADLIGHTS….

    • Showtime4eva

Miami is to far down the food chain for you to even think that but we all know how stupid your thoughts can be. All your hate in the world is not going to help your heat. They are scared of us and you are too. It shows the cherry on top is all your stupid comments will always be there to laff atu. You should be more worried about the bulls or celtics because that’s who we are going to play for our 17th championship. So for now go join the other pee-ons that wish, just wish

      • 242LakerFan

Who is this dude? He won’t acknowledge reason. Even insults don’t get to him.
I swear this guy is holed up in a closet somewhere with a laptop and a geek mask with a ball gag getting off on the attention he gets from us when he makes his absurd little statements. Well, I’m through cyber-diddling the little perv.
Sorry, man. I’m not laffin atu anymore. I feel like I’m descending to your level. I’m heading back to where people make sense.

        • Showtime4eva

Yea same here it feels crazy to explain to one idiot what a whole lakers nation already knows but I will give him one last fuck you FUCK YOU!

        • NBAmazingKB24

aww this guy needs attention :( *Sniff Sniff
          GTFO
I don’t even think he has a team he is cheering for.
