Sasha will be out a few weeks due to the shoulder injury..

O.C. Register: Sasha Vujacic had improved his play and survived the trade deadline … And now he’s hurt.

Vujacic is expected to miss at least two weeks with a sprained right shoulder suffered in a collision with Boston’s Kendrick Perkins on Thursday night.

“It’s frustrating,” Said Vujacic, whose absence in addition to Luke Walton’s back problem opens the door for Adam Morrison to play some.

Well this is some good news.

    IM SO HAPPY !!!

  • http://www.ld2k.com Chris Manning

Sasha was playing very well lately. He was part of the reason the Lakers swung the Boston game around. I hope for him to heal and continue to be big in his role.

    • highflyer

u guys tell me if this is a good idea…buy out morissons contract and/or powell/mbenga and goig after drew good with the money left from them

      • highflyer

        • daboss1848

u can only go after gooden with vets minimum, regardless if u buy out morrison/mbenga/powell or not. We are over the cap by over 40 mil.

  • JFK-analysis-at-TLN

this is something i had to comment on..because sasha works so hard, and he was getting a little better as of late… hopefully he can come back better, because Puke is injured again…

There goes our championship hopes! (sarcasim)

  • showtimelakes

get him him a body bag…yeah….picture the scene from karate kid 1 :)

Whether or not anyone likes Sasha, remember that the Lakers only have 13 players, and they do need someone to play and give Kobe and others a rest during games.
    .
So, now Sasha and Luke are out. That makes 11 players in rotation. You don’t want to tire everyone out before the playoffs. The 1st team needs to be strong for the toughness of the playoffs, so they need as many bench players as possible, to create ‘resting periods’.
    .
And, Sasha has been playing hard the last few games, and possibly made a difference. So we should be wishing him well, NOT being happy about an injury. He’s gonna be with the Lakers through the playoffs, so of course we want him to be healthy and playing in top form.

    • LakersBabe

If Sasha is going to be out more than two weeks, we need to bring someone in from the D-League or off the waiver list.

  • Salty

You have to be a fool to think having no Sasha or Luke is a good thing. You do know that those minutes now to go Morrsion right? Be careful what you wish for “fans.”

    • chadb

I’d rather have my 84 year old grandma in the game over Sasha. …. Maybe Phil can do take a page from the movie Housiers and play with 4 players… “ref -coach you going to sub – you need 5… gene hackman – my teams on the floor”

    • LakersBabe

Luke has been injured more than he has been healthy so they don’t count on his minutes anyway. Even when healthy he doesn’t play much. What does that tell you?

Sasha, is good to spell Kobe but we have Shannon for that. Just bring Powell and Mbenga off the bench to fill in for the front line.

There is no way Morrison should ever be on the court. IMO.

  • showtime2k9

woohoo, let’s go Ammoooo!!! Time to step up (fingers crossed)

    • LAKESHOW1

I agree. I am sorry, if you all think that Sasha is a huge improvement over Ammo then you are all wrong. Sasha gets paid to shoot and he has not even been doing that well. He cannot penetrate, he makes awful decisions, he is not a great passer, he does not have good ball handling and he complains on every single call. Now tell me, is Sasha really that much better than Ammo? Sure Sasha had a great game the other day and has been improving, but Ammo could probably have decent games given the minutes and touches that Sasha gets. Sasha has been with the team since 04-05 and has there really been a drastic improvement? Not really, and the same goes for Ammo (ha been in the league for a few years and has not improved considerably) So, my point is…..I really do not think there is need to panic that Sasha is out because Ammo is essentially the same player. You never know, perhaps I am wrong…..we will just have to see how Ammo performs.

Luke on the other hand, I feel like his I.Q is much higher than both Sasha’s and Ammo’s. He is a much better passer and he understands the triangle much better. So, I feel that Luke (although not great) is certainly better than both Ammo and Sasha.

        HALLEUJAH!

      • Green Flannel

Sasha was a premiere shooter in 07-08, kinda like eddie house was last year and their championship season. Sasha has had a semi drastic improvement in his over-all game as we saw in Boston because his shooting stroke is off.

Ammo is just a player to put on the floor. I don’t wan’t to completely bash him in here but he takes few shots plays decent D but we are a good defensive team. I want to see him do well but he doesn’t put himself in situations so that he can; Sasha does, he just needs to actually execute.

Luke is, like you said, a great passer and has a high IQ and understands the triangle a lot better and is more consistent then them both. I know, i know, he has those games where he scores 0 points but that might not have been his job to score. We have two VERY consistent scorers, we do not really need another beast on the scoreboard. Luke makes assists, gets rebounds and plays substantial defense. Sad that these two are out, now we really need to look at the free agents.

        • http://youtube.com/mrterrific100 Mr Terrific

How long does it take a 6th year player to improve!? Is he in the NBA or the 1st grade!?!

    • LakersBabe

      Ammo shoots blanks! hahahahaha

  • Xtro

We really should have traded for captain Kirk.

  • heh

He’s punishing us because of all the mean trade demands we made about him.

  • Robert

Ammo to Sasha? No comparison. Ammo is a horrible ball handler. Sasha can handle the ball ‘a little’. When was the last time you saw Ammo run in for a layup? Not his game. He was a great spot up shooter, 3 point (college) and mid-range when he was at Gonzaga. Ammo needs more confidence to up his shooting percentage. Sasha ‘used to be’ a reliable 3 point ‘spot up’ shooter. Pass it out to him – instant 3s. Not so sure anymore. But, he was beginning to step up. Too bad.
    .
But Sasha’s real strength is pissing the ‘fu**’ out of players with his D. He gets in guys face, and he did that with the C’Dicks (who also play ‘cheap’ D). Remember when Sasha would get periodically elbowed in the head, by players who want their ‘space’. Sasha isn’t afraid to get banged up like that. That’s good ‘European’ D. That will be good in the playoffs. Actually, it’s good for him to get a rest now.
    .
Remember: “D” wins games in playoff time. That’s also because they ‘relax’ the rules a little, and let players ‘play’ rather than call a foul every other second. So, Sasha will be useful then.
    .
And … he pisses the ‘fu**’ out of Bill Simmons (who’s a Laker hater). So, want to see Sasha get another ring just for that alone!

    • LAKESHOW1

Execution? And laying the ball up is Sasha’s game?? Really? Sasha has been a spot up shooter for five years!! That’s all he can do. He has hit his plateau. Yeah, I definitely agree with your points on the defensive end…..point taken.
However, Sasha has been under the most winningest coach (Phil Jackson) for years now. Phil analyzes him almost on a daily basis and he has turned Sasha into the 5TH option off the bench (behind Odom obviously, but also BEHIND Shannon, Jordan and Luke) If he has dropped that far behind in the rotation, then something tells me that he is not executing in practice either. Phil is known for getting the most out of his players (i.e Ariza and Shannon) and if Sasha isn’t playing, then there is obviously a reason. Come on… Shannon Brown is in his second year with this team and has improved DRASTICALLY! Everyone knows that he is right now the best he has ever been in his NBA career. Anyway, getting back to my point….I still don’t think that there is a considerable difference between Sasha and Ammo……well not enough to where it is going to decide if we win or lose games.

      • LAKESHOW1

hahah, i also agree with the Bill Simmons comments…I would not mind that either!

  • Marwan Marzina

Non-American players these days are great on offense, such horribly on defense. Nash is great on offense but he cant play defense. Dirk cant play defense either. We all know how Varejao and Ginobli are the biggest floppers of the list because they cant play defense. Pau and Sasha are probably the only ones that can play defense. Although Sasha fouls alot, you can’t play good defense and not foul, there has to be minimal contact when you play defense, enough not to get you a foul and enough for stop the matchup. This is Sasha’s strongest asset and his speed also but I guess his speedy game didn’t blossom in LA until the Boston game because he was a spot up shooter and didn’t run much.
Get well soon Sasha, whether people like it or not, we need you and that is the truth.

    • LGM10

Ever wonder how and why lebron RARELY picks up any fouls when playing d??

      • Green Flannel

there is two reasons to that LGM. One; the refs don’t call shit against himand two; well he doesn’t play defense either.

      • Robert

LGM – another reason: LeBrick is only interested in ‘blocking shots’ after a fast break, jumping the player from behind, to show off his skill to do that (yes, he’s got a great vertical plus good hand/eye). Otherwise, he doesn’t really play much ‘face up’ defense, so there are few defensive fouls to call.
        .
Did you ever see LBJ on ALL-D (top 5 defenders)? Well, only once – last year. How many times have we seen Kobe on ALL-D (first or second team)? 9 out of 10 years.
        .
        http://www.nba.com/histor/awards_defensiveteams.html
        .
And, there’s another ALL-D on our team (not to mention Defensive POY 2003-4) – Ron-Ron.
        .
This is also why LBJ won’t ever be one of the ‘top 5 greatest players ever’ – requires ‘defense’ in addition to ‘offense’, and he just don’t have it. He’s actually probably too big to guard most players, unlike Kobe, who can (or could) guard all medium guards, and smaller forwards – just the right size, determination, and skill to do both. Plus, LBJ can’t waste his energy on D – he has to save all his strength for the usual ‘fast break to dunk’ move that is his trademark (possibly only) move.

  • LGM10

I’d rather see myself play than ammo, no offense. At least kobes coming back. Maybe its time for a von wafer pickup. thoughts anybody?

    • LakersBabe

Yes. I was thinking the same thing after reading how he is trying out for the Rockets. He has size and would be better than Morrison. Go for it Kupcake!

      • LakersBabe

Or maybe it was the Mavs. I forget, all Texas teams look the same. LOL

  • Robert

LGM – I was thinking the same thing. Von Wafer (originally on the Lakers) was pretty wild on the Rockets. And, with his teammate Ron-Ron, they gave the Lakers a run last year. Since he was with the Lakers, he knows the system (to a degree). I think it would be the perfect addition. He’s a slasher, and a ‘crazy’ player. I think he would work out well.

  • http://youtube.com/mrterrific100 Mr Terrific

Is Vujachoke on Steroids!?Quick!Whats David Sterns e-mail!?!

  • lakerfan2010

How are you going to call yourself a Laker fan if your rooting for our players to get injured? Pathetic.. you guys need to stfu and stop crying. Furthermore, Sasha has contributed in the past few games and has shown signs of improvement so I hope he gets well soon.

    • LakersBabe

Is he worth $5 million a year? I don;t wish him or anyone to have injuries but he is not our savior either.

      • LAKESHOW1

I agree with LakersBabe, although some of us might say “it’s a good thing” that Sasha is hurt, it is all in good fun. I do not like to see any NBA player get hurt. i also hope he gets well soon. However, (like LakersBabe said) it is not like he is our savior, so I do not see the need to panic that he is out. I hope Sasha can become a consistent player, but a few “decent” games is not going to make me a believer. He is such a one dimensional player…all he can do is shoot and he needs to return back to the point where he was “the machine.” Let’s face it, until he can do that again for us consistently, he will always be just another $5 million contract that needs to seriously needs to be dumped.

    • hey

I guess lakerfan2010 is fine with just settling for playoffs.
